Sam looked around, then faced the clerk. His mind was buzzing through, not knowing what to answer. He had too many thoughts on his mind at this very moment. He quickly exchanged looks with the clerk. "Sir, I'm not too, sure...of course, I want to learn magic.... but....." Sam was so excited he could not continue on with his reply. "Sir, I am not exactly of the scholarly type, you see," Sam quickly posed a small smile, and thought for a moment, and said: "I want to become a Purple Guard you see, so, yes, I am looking for danger and excitement.......a Battlemage, sir!"

The clerk nodded: "Ah, the Purple Guard! Perhaps one day. When you've completed your battlemage training you will have advantages on the other students since battlemagics mixes a combination of blades and magic. You're acquired to choose at least one weapon to become proficient with."
He took a piece of parchment from his desk and began to write something down after wich he looked up: "Please state your full name, lad, I need it to fill in your application."

Sam looked at the clerk, gazing into his eyes. "Very well, sir. My name is Sam Encentran. I come from Dort." Sam looked around, again, as if He was hoping to find something interesting. He was very excited, of course, to be in such a wonderful place.

"Sam Encantran... Ok, that has been noted. Welcome to the University, student Encantran! Since you want to be a Battlemage you shall have to talk to the Battle-General. Please give him your application."

He handed over the piece of parchment to Sam and nodded to a man who was standing a bit further: "Mikhail will guide you through the University and bring you to the Battle-General."

The man walked up to Sam: "Hello, Sam. I am Mikhail. I shall be your guide and after your tour you'll see the Battle-General. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them."

OOC: Sam, you can now soo the UoM forum in the Citadel category. You'll find a thread there titled "Sam Encantran, Samheen 4th. Please post there.

A thin boy with dark hair and eyes, had walked through the enterence of the university. usually he would not be paid attention to beyond normal. A new student isn't a rare view, and the boy looked quiet average, that is, he wasnt very handsome and didnt have scales or somthing. But there the normality ended. He wore a dark red robe and cloak and had a magical looking mahogany staff (it wasnt magical, but was quiet impresive) and if he was a bit older people could easily mistake him to a wizard. He also wasn't impresed ,unlike many others, from the magnificent look of the university. He had been there many times with his mother. though he did wondered if the wizards had found a way to turn metel to gold. "And why not?" he thought. "I mean, if you you add some here and there and move some particles aside maybe it could..." He stoped thinking about theories in matter alteration when he got close to the desk, and focoused on making an image of a serious and inteligent person. It worked quiet good. Maybe because he was a serious and inteligint person. He nodded to the clerk. "Hello sir, i'm Gavin Magnus, i wish to enroll to the university. Battlemage training". Though he tried to hide his feelings, a spark of excitment could be seen in his eyes.

OOC: Gavin, I want to ask you to use a spellchecker on your posts. I'm guilty of not using one myself at some occasions but do try to use one :)

IC:
The clerk looked up: "Gavin, eh? Battlemage, lad? You do understand that Battlemage training is one of the most dangerous and thoughest training in the whole of Tazlure? A combination of blades and magic. You do look like someone who is more a scholarly type. Wouldn't you have more fun as a regular mage?"

The clerk smiled and awaited Gavin's answer...

"I'm aware of that," Gavin replied. "And i know i would probably fit better in the scholar path, my whole family are mage scholars. but i dont wish to stay behind books all my life. Not that i say the scholar path dosent have its own advanteges". He added. "but I want to take an active roll, to live my mark on the world. And about my lack of ability with swords and all..." He smiled. "Everything can be learned. after all, everyone had to learn before they could use any weapon ". His face went serious again. "I am a good student. I can learn everything i will be taught, or at least i can try. Yes, I do belive i can stand up to the requirements". He waited anxiously to the answer...

The clerk smiled slightly and streaked a hair backwards: "But leaving a mark on the world has nothing to do with being a Battlemage or not. There are normal mages who are far more famous then any Battlemage is. It is not the question if you posses the requirements but if you want to be a Battlemage. It is a... well a dirty study. could you kill a living person with a blade? Could you use magic to deliberatly kill people? Normal mages kill too from time to time but they never specialise in warfare..."

Gavin sighed. "Let me tell the truth". He said quietly."I didn't want to be a battlemage so i could learn how to wave a sword. I dont care about swords. I came here because what you teach battlemages. Lets say a battlemage and a regular mage are thrown in to hostile territory. Who will have the better survival probability? The battlemage of course. Not only because he is more physically trained for that, though it is a factor. Its because he knows what to do. He is trained to deal with that kind of sitsuation. The same in combat. The regular mage isn't trained how to think, how to react, how to use his abilities in the best way. And about killing? It is not the problem. If i'll need to fight i will fight. If i'll need to kill i will kill. What i am concerned of is that when I meet my enemy, i will know how to fight, how to stay focoused. That when i will meet my enemy, I will be a worthy opponent. That is what i am concerned of" And in second thought he added: "Oh, and i'm not a bad guy. Just practical".

The clerk wrote down Gavin's name on a piece of parchment foled it twice and sealed it with the seal of the University, handing it over to Gavin: "If you wish to enroll in the battlemage training you'll have to see the Battle-General. William will take you."

A shiver went through Gavin and a few moments later a big, muscular man arrived: "Yes?"

Alisson walked up to the reception desk already thinking the worst. They would probably not take her on because she was half-elf, or too poor. Or if they did let her past this reception it would probably only be as a servant. Even on the off chance she became a student there was no guarantee she would be any good. With all the theory Hannah had taught her she still had yet to do one spell. Thinking these things, Alisson could not bring herself to look the thin man in the eyes. Instead she stared at the desk and asked "I'd like to apply for admitance."

A young elf-like girl walked in to the hallway staring around at the enormity of the hall. As she looked around she saw another girl standing waiting at a desk. Terra decided to go over and ask her what she was supposed to do. excuse me, but what do you do once you get here?

Alisson was shocked by the interruption, she hadn't heard anyone approaching. She quickly debated how much effort it would take to avoid answering the speaker. Finaly she decided it would probably be better to give a summary answer. The girl would get the hint, Alisson thought to herself. But as she opened her mouth and turned around to speak no words came out. The girl looked like an elf! Alisson couldn't believe her luck. Despite her earlier intention Alisson found herself throwing questions at the newcommer almost as soon as they came to mind.

"Are you an elf?"
"What kind of elf?"
"Where were you born?"
"So you want to be a mage?"
"Is it true that elves are more naturaly magical than humans?"
"Have you ever seen a mage in action?"
"I heard a story once about an Elf mage, do you want to hear it?"

Alisson continued with the questions without waiting for the girl to answer and she showed no sign of slowing down any-time soon.

Arrival from the docks

Post by Fauna Winthrope »

ooc: I would like to thank Maeve and Tygress for helping sucha poor lout like me, an innocent and moron to the site. Without them I would be very completely, utterly, devastatingly lost.

Anyway, this is the continuation from my entrance thread in the docks. The the docks is a very good forum, they welcomed me with open arms. it was a blast there.

IIC:

The carriage rode for some time, giving Fauna Winthrope enough moment to gaze at the splendor of the inner capital. The smelly tang of the sea had dissapeared as she entered the inner sanctum of the capital, and was replaced by the smell of torches and sewer as she neared the market.

The towering edifice, the bricklayered street, the mignling crowd over the market and the children that played over the streets; all were smiling for her as if welcooming her and enfolding her to their arms.

The carriage skidded to a stop, as the driver opened her door. With elegant poise, she got off and found herself under the shadows of a looming building.

University of Magicks, she read to herself as she gawked at the great symbol over the entrancc pavillion.

The driver busilly unhinged her belongings and placed them at her feet and with a florid bow and a nod took off again, reigning the horses that pulled the carriage.

It took her more than a second to swallow the whole expanse of the building.

I might as well get in, she said to herself. Gathering her cloak around her, she pulled her belongings near the entrance for safety and sweeping her blue cloak, elegantly strode inside.

Terra stood staring at the girl wondering how she was supposed to answer all these questions at once. "You asked if I was an elf and what type right? -Yes, ok well firstly I’m not a 'pure' elf I’m half high elf..." Terra trailed off as she stood silently waiting for a reaction from the girl as although she wasn't ashamed of her heritage she new some people would look down on her because of it. [/i]

Once again Alisson was caught speechless. Pausing to close her mouth she stared at the girl more closely. "Half...High...Elf..." she said without realizing she spoke aloud. But she looks so different from me, she thought to herself.

"But were you raised with humans or the High elvs?"
"Which one of your parents was the elf?"
"So you do want to be a mage don't you?"
"Do you think are more naturaly magical than humans?"
"Have you ever seen a mage in action?"
"Do you know any mage stories?"

Alisson abruptly remembered why she was there, and though it went against her grain to stop her inquiries she turned to the receptionist and asked "This is where we enter the University isn't it?"

"- and so's Mister Motricé." Becca smiled wryly. "He's probably going to go - he's not set anything on fire for a few months, so he's got to be going through withdrawal by now." ~ Becca Acerbi

IIC:
Fauna Winthrope stared at the well-designed tapestries, paintings and sculptures that littered the ancient hall of the University. She slowed her pace, basking in the majesty that displays around her. It reminds her of the castle court in Amun Rah; both strived in its architectural design for splendor and magnificence.

Hearing a faint voices from the corner, Fauna turned her head and glanced upon two individuals; females, she presumed by their shrill voices who where having a heated discussion. One was giddily talking animatedly as the other has apprehension etched on her open face.

She walked silently towards the two and caught sight of a huge desk piled by vellums and scrolls and behind it was an old man dressed in scholarly robe and was busily writing at one of the scrolls with an inked stained quill.

"Good morrow," Fauna greeted the two females as she neared them, nodding her head gravely and smiling sweetly. "Prithee, where could I find some assistance?"

OOC: Forgive my ineptitude, but what are UoM, TI, TAQ? :D

OOC: Ummm I know that the UoM is the University of Magic, but I'm not sure about the other acronyms.

IC:

Alisson looked up at the thin man. "I would like to enter the University of Magic..." she then took a deep breath to begin questioning the receptionist, but she was interrupted by another voice from behind.

"Prithee, where could I find some assistance?" said the newcommer.

Alisson turned and looked at the girl and was slightly annoyed. She most certainly did not like it when her questoins were interrupted. Clamping her mouth closed Alisson stepped aside and moved to a corner of the desk so the new girl would be able to approack the receptionist.
