Raven pulled back his face to avoid any damage but for a few burns let Shaeliana pummel him with her fists, feeling washed in a sensation of frustation and helplessness that was quite a new experience to him. "I..I may not have been entirely truthful," he admitted gruffly, finally catching her fists and pushing them down, holding both of them with one strong hand. He used his other to catch her chin, forcing her to look in his eyes. He could not phantom the reason why it was so important that Shaeliana feel better, yet his instincts told him he would feel miserable too as long as the healer did. The frustration made him angry. With a touch of that anger he kissed her roughly, effectively silencing her outburst.

"Now that I've caught your attention, Madam Caerdhan" he said in a low dangerous voice "I will say it to you only once. I don't rape, and I do not treat people unfairly. I am not that kind of pirate. I told you once before that when I find a replacement you may go. I'll buy you out if I have to."

His ice blue eyes were still flashing with anger and frustation as he threw out to her "However my crew's need is great and I doubt where I plucked you from you were doing anything useful. Why else would you walk the town without escort, without any apparant haste? Why would you even consider helping a couple of sailors? No, you are protesting too much. Life on board of the Lady Rose is not that bad. It is an opportunity. At least here you will always be treasured."

He pushed her from him, releasing her "I'm going out into town in a quartermark. Either you sign the charter and meet me up at the plank by then, or we'll have to write your king a nice randsome note. It is up to you Madam Caerdhan."

He turned and left her standing there, his passion boiling just under the surface, a combination of emotions that Raven was perhaps not even aware of. With easy steps the captain walked down to the lower decks, looking out over the railing to see if the Harbormaster had arrived yet. Jack followed his back with a frown on his face, shaking his head.

It felt good to pummel him, though she doubted she was causing him much discomfort. Still, it was an outlet for the pent up frustration and even fear. Confusion rolled over her as she wrestled with what to do. Dare she sign the pirate's contract in order to gain some measure of freedom? Or would she be signing her own death warrant.

Starting to slow down as her ire faded some, her heart jumped into her throat again as he caught her hands and then her chin. Fearful of the response he might return, wide eyes gazed up at him, searching. Questioning, but only for less than a flicker before his mouth came down on hers. A kiss was the last thing she expected and rough as it was, the sensation reached almost to her toes. Breathless afterwards, she stared up at him as he explained that when he found another healer, he would release her. That had been enough to settle her and she had started to relax when he went on about finding her unescorted and not doing anything useful, which only served to renew her anger with the arrogant captain.

"Why! You.... you... " she stumbled looking for the right descriptive name for Raven. "Ogre! Arrogant, awful Ogre!" she yelled after him, following many paces behind.

"I was not escorted because I'm a healer and normally we don't have to fear harm to ourselves and I had some time off to run errands and take care of business and unlike some," she moved to the edge of the railing yelling down at him now.

"I'd never turn down someone who was in need even if it meant giving up my free time to do so. Obviously a trait you don't understand, helping people," she slapped at the bannister before her suddenly aware that people were watching, but moreso that her shields were down and not only was she broadcasting her emotions out, but she was feeding off those of Raven, caught in a vicious circle of frustrating anger.

"Damnation! Fine!" she quelled the anger as much as she could, keeping her voice audible to the captain and quartermaster as she made her way down to the maindeck.

"I'll sign it, but I don't promise you wont' regret it daily, Captain," she finished before marching on past towards her cabin to wash her face and pull her shields back around her. As the water touched her lips, she recalled the heat of his as he kissed her and the sensation rushed through her again. Quite different from any of Rhoddin's sweet almost shy kisses, this had fire and suddenly the healer felt a new kind of fear.

She would have to be much more careful in future, she told herself. Captain Raven aroused too many emotions in her to go unchecked and her anger would not get her out of this situation. It was going to take clear headed thinking and being alert to possibilities, both things she would miss if she stayed angry.

Face freshened, she tucked back wayward locks of hair that had escaped, grabbed her purse and made her way topside again. Once the signing was completed, she could go to town.

Emerging from her cabin she noticed the captain leaning over the railing, apparantly in conversation. Jack was waiting for her, his arms folded over each other. The parchment of the charter was in his hand. Without words he handed her a quil and the charter.
