Tomorrow I arrive in the Citadel after an interesting journey at sea from Kes'Levy. I still have some money of the left that I received from the pawnbroker after selling the silver, gold & moonstone ring I had gotten last year from Uncle Faliel for my birthday. I felt bad selling it, but where else was I supposed to get the money with which to start my new life? I had to drop a crown to get on this boat but I have still have six crowns and a coronet left. (Good thing I sat out that dice game the sailors were playing the other night. I'd have gotten screwed, I'm sure.)
The boatswain's mate, Hugh, said if I was looking for cheap lodgings, I should go to the Inner Ring and find a place called the Burpin' Dragon, where I could also get a drink and a decent meal. I'll have to check it out. Obviously, I need to find a job. I want to find work as a bartender or wine steward someplace. I think I'm qualified, having grown up on a vineyard and fruit farm and worked in Uncle Faliel's tavern since I was eleven. I know I'm young, but I'm strong and I work hard, and I know a lot about wine & brandy. Not so much about beer & ale, but I'd guess the folks that drink beer & ale don't need an expert to pour a draught - right? I don't speak great Human but I think I can do alright. My accent is definitely there but not too strong. Besides, Hugh says there's a lot of Adhiel and Achadhiel in the Citadel, and a lot of other types of people as well. We'll see how it goes. First priority: find a place to live, at least for now. Second priority: find a job, any job (washing dishes, bussing tables, shoveling shit, I don't care). Third priority: start scouting leads for the kind of job I really want.
