Jadmai Returns the Bathhouse [Sam 27th, Late MT]

Post by Jadmai »

Jadmai's first day as ambassador was not much different from any of his others; and that was rather unfortunate. Before the dark adhiel had this new responsiblity put on him by The Rafao, neither Ionis or himself would have been surprised that Jadmai had killed a man in some common room. Of course Jadmai had his reasons, and most would say even though he was acting the part of the vigilante, they would want this particular dark adhiel in the room with them, if they were suddenly accosted.

Jadmai entered the Bathhouse and shook his head at himself for trying to justify his own actions.

It did not matter if he was justified or not, he shouldn't be putting himself into these situations now, and part of the dark adhiel resented himself for doing so.

Will I always resort to taking up arms?

The question lingered in Jadmai's head as looked around the bathhouse, looking for one familiar face in the throng. He was in an embarrassing spot he had to admit to himself. He was sent here with a handful of people to establish this embassy, and as only ordered them to begin the setup, and not overseen the prelimary step, the ambassador himself did not know where his own embassy was.

Thus, he looked around, for the one person he had seen here before, that seemed to be in the know, and was around when he had his charges begin the process of setting up an embassy.

What wasthat bastards name...? Darius.

Jadmai answered his own thought, after he remember the man introducing himself.

The lost ambassador looked around for any attendant, "Excuse me, could you tell me where I could find a fellow named, Darius?" Jadmai remembered the man being a slave, "A slave, in attendance here yesterday, he helped me out greatly. I am Jadmai Av'Zathrak, he was sent here to greet me, I am sure he would remember."

The man Jadmai found looked surprised to be addressed. Whether it was because of Jadmai’s skin color or the mere fact that some had approached him wasn’t clear. So far, Sabata hadn’t really seemed to be particularly worried about an adhiel with skin the color of his. Indeed, on his brief walk across the city, he’d seen half a dozen or so folks, tribal and otherwise, that made his appearance seem almost normal in comparison.

The slave, a meek little man that appeared to have some adhiel blood in him by the slight point to his ears, recovered and bowed deeply.

“Follow me, your Excellency,” he said quietly. Apparently Jadmai’s position had been communicated. The slave led Jadmai to an upper floor past a row of alcoves overlooking the bath. He turned two corners and brought him to unmarked door upon which he knocked twice.

“Enter,” came a voice Jadmai could assume was Darius’. The slave opened the door for the ambassador and ushered him inside, quietly slipping out silently behind him.

The room before him was small with an open veranda overlooking the bath. Upon closer examination, it appeared that Darius’ room was actually at a third level, above the row of alcoves Jadmai had passed earlier or at least some that looked very much like it. Darius was resting on the balcony but seemed hidden from view, as if he were watching something. Hearing Jadmai’s foot steps, he turned toward the door.

“Ah, excuse me, your Excellency,” he said, blushing slightly. He looked a little embarrassed. “Your forgiveness on making you wait. How may I be of assistance?”

Jadmai was not here to interrupt, nor did he actually care what Darius was up to on the balcony, but a grin reached Jadmai's lips as he assumed Darius was watching something that he wouldn't want his own mother to see him watching.

Jadmai walked forward a few more steps meeting Darius halfway, "Greetings Darius, I hope I am not interrupting, but I have further need of your services--it's a simple matter really. The men I arrived with, and ordered to begin satisfying the needs of a new embassy. I would like to know where they went so that I may check on their progress. Could you direct me to them?"

“Of course not, Excellency” replied Darius with a bow that seemed to command more respect than offer. “I am here to serve.” He stood and threw a wistful look over his shoulder before turning to meet the Dark Adhiel’s gaze.

“Indeed, your quarters . . .” His heavy brows furrowed as he looked past Jadmai toward the door and made a hand signal. Immediately, a servant appeared as if bidden magically.

“This is Nessus. He would be happy to escort you to your office. My reports are that the office was set up without difficulty. He would be happy to take you over whenever you wish. Is there anything else I can help you with? Should I trust that you’ve found entertainment on your first day in Sabata?”

OOC: Jad - you can continue in both threads. You aren't being pushed out of this one.

The dark adhiel rubbed his chin in thought, and finally gave a small shrug, "Darius once again, you have been most helpful. I shall follow your man to the embassy, and leave you to your leisure."

The man was a slave, and Jadmai's idea of a slave is that they would not take tips, but Jadmai was not from this land, and he was used to offering up some sort of thanks for a service rendered, so the dark adhiel stepped forward, while reaching into his purse and grabbing a few lance. Then, he firmly, yet politely enough pushed a few lance into the man's hands.

"You deserve something, Darius." He said with a nod and pulling his hand away, not giving the slave any chance to refuse the tip. "I shall be at the embassy, if I am needed by anyone who inquires--can I trust you will relay that information? I'm sure I can. Once again, thank you Darius."

The lithe adhiel nodded towards the slave Darius had pointed out, "If you will, please lead the way."

With that Jadmai ended his second bath house visit.

Darius smiled at the adhiel's gesture. He would pocket the money. Slave status kept him more or less chained to the Bathhouse but that did not mean he was above accepting payment. Besides, he would need something to pay his informants with - free baths only went so far.

"You are most welcome, Excellency. I look forward to serving you again."
