Dinner Date with Royalty - Eveningtide 24th Sam

Post by Alustariel Urdil »

Alustariel fiddled with her hands as she waited for Ashtallion outside the Lotus Blossom Inn. She had felt the need for fresh air so she decided to stand in the street rather than wait in her room.

The adhiel had so much to tell her twin - that she had spoken to the Senechal, that she had lied and said their real surname was Daini (thus that Goldeneye and Silverhair were merely spiritual names given to them by their late mentor).

She found herself wondering what Asht had done with his day. Whether he had met Falgan and secured their training. Yet her mind came to rest on little Idris who had met them when they first arrived.

"By the Horns of Pan!" bored Alustariel cursed, where was Ashtallion?.

Alustariel decided that during her wait she would attempt to conjure a shield of light, as Alexu had taught her to do - just for practice.

She began to concentrate, whispering meditative chanting. Alustriel willed the light from within to exude from her body so she could form it into a shield around her person. She focused on her center - hoping Asht might pass by and for the first time see his sister cast a spell unaided.

Ashtallion rounded the corner, and spotting his sister, stopped. He watched her intently, wondering what she was doing, but seeing the expression on her face, and reaching out his own senses, he did not have to guess. The adhiel mage had never seen his sister work a weaving, and had wondered how adept she could be. Even the simplest of spells could give an impression of how one worked with magic.

Stepping closer, slowly and measure, the folds of his robes making the smallest of whispers. He had had an interesting day, and prayed he made a new friend. The thought was laudible, but it was something he often found trouble in finding.... there had been Fauna.... and the thought of the large breasted sorceress brought a strange pain into his chest. It passed swiftly, but it left a curious sensation behind. One day Fauna, I shall find out why I have these disturbing feelings about you my young friend.

Both he and his sister had a dinner planned with the Lady Idris, at the thought he could not suppress the shiver of excitement that ran through him. Mixing with members of the Royal Family, it had a bittersweet irony to it, one Ashtallion had not failed to notice. He had to keep reminding himself that the Caesar's death was not his fault, he had been used, in a most brutal and manipulative way. The adhie would have his revenge one day, when he was powerful enough to expose the strings that had played him. Perhaps they still did?

For now, he remained content to watch his sister, an equal excitement at seeing her weave picking him up.

Standing outside was not amongst the best of choices with the irregular showers cleaning the buildings and streets...and everyone in them. There were some dry spells in between, but as the day neared it's end the rains got heavier, predicting an ever wetter nigh to come.

During one such dry spell Alustariel had chosen the streets over the safe and dry surroundings of the Lotus Blossom Inn. There had been stories about a wild fight that afternoon -obviously something she had missed during her talk with the Seneschal- but other than a lot of cleaning up and surprisingly new furniture to replace the broken things, nothing was out of the ordinary.

The advantage of this weather was the streets were relatively empty. Save those with actual business involving moving from one building to another did so in a hurry, leaving Alustariel to practice her shielding. It was a strange sight, the woman standing so concentrated and still outside a well-frequented inn. The lone wanderer passing her shook his head in pity and made haste. Others looked at her in wonder out of the many windows, making vague gestures towards their head after pointing at her standing there alone.

Her strange chanting did not reach inside -which was probably just as well- but helped clear her mind of the obvious moist in the air. As the young woman reached for her center it reached back for her. Memories and emotions of the past day washed over her in a torrent of unexpected strength, drawing her in further and further. It would be so easy to give in to it for just a flicker or two...to just experience it all to give it a place in her life...
Just a flicker or two...
Or three...

It was a very, very still Alustariel waiting for Ashtallion around the corner. As his mage sight washed over her it would immediately become clear that instead of working outwards, his sister was drawing inwards, a lack of balance keeping her from finding a quiet center to work from. There was a spiral moving around her, pulling her further in as he watched.
And further.
And further.

Ashtallion darted forward, running swiftly through the rain that fell. " Alu...Lustra! Sister! Stop, stop! ", he threw his own mind forward, his etheral senses hanging on the fringes of her power, not wanting to get drawn in also. He felt her power, gingerly touching the spiral around her, assessing its potency, trying to decide on the best way to disrupt the weaving without bringing more serious harm to his sibling.

" My silver sister...you must stop.... come back to me. Come back. ", in truth he was not entirely sure what she was doing, perhaps it was apart of her casting, but he had the distinct impression that it would bring her to no good.

Drawing her in, pulling at her life force. He almost wept for fear of the unknown, but forced himself to calm down and wait, firstly to see if she would pull herself back out of the trance.

Within herself, Alu knew something was awry. Her brother's voice she could hear. But Alustariel was determined to repeat the cantrip her mentor at the Universtiy taught her.

Alustariel reflected into her inner calm, in order to block out all other external distractions, she continued to meditate, as she was used to doing - to focus inside herself and find the energy and will to shape the minor shield around herself. She knew she was no Archwizard - but she knew she had done this before and that she had the ability to do it again if she tried hard enough.

ohm nama sheevaya, she began to chant an old adhiel mantra, centering herself further. Willing the new-found energy within her to form around her in a shapeless shield of light

The presence of Ashtallion only made her want to try harder to impress him. Sibling rivalry just isn't what it used to be.

To choose a well-frequented place and stand outside where it rained on quite a regular basis this day, was not very beneficial for finding inner calm. This also being the first time without guidance, it was not hard to guess why her focus went awry. A drop of rain found her nose, another slid into her ear, people were walking by, discussing the recent pricechanges in cloth, people were staring at her through windows...

And still Alu tried to continue her failing spell despite all the warning signs to break it off while she still could.

To Ashtallion it was immediately clear that his sister had no intention of breaking this off. Instead she insisted on trying what was eluding her grasp already. There was no light being pushed out into a nice shield. There was no inner calm. There was no balance or focus for the girl who had already admitted to a certain paranoia earlier on the day.

Nothing was pushed out...everything went in!

The closer Ashtallion got, the more he felt his own energy being sucked in. Everything he threw at the girl was spiralling down in the miniature maelstrom around her. Nobody but those with magic sight would notice the invisible struggle and the girl refusing to step down from what was becoming very dangerous, very fast.

More, more, more, MORE! It was so invigorating!

Green strands moved into the spiral.
Those merchants walking by suddenly felt a strange headache and a desire to rest, quickly moving on only to find they felt much better when rounding the corner.

Gold strands were pulled in, but resisted.
Asthallion felt how his efforts were welcomed by something very different than his dear sister as he knew her. The energy he used was sucked up as by a hungry infant, quickly filling Alu for a moment before going down as well.

The girl was not making a shield of any kind. The reverse effect she created by accident was strongly reinforced by her redoubled effort. Once the spiral started up, it was becoming very hard to shut it down again as it fed all energy through her first, creating sensations and images one might expect after an exceptionally wonderful experience.

Power!. It was like nothing Alustariel had ever felt, oblivious to the fact that she was in danger. Power was flowing into something around her unwarrented - there was power, but it was not under her control.

The simple shielding was not going to happen though, this hit home to Alu now. Perhaps it worked differently at the University when she was under the supervision of Alexu Auros.

But she had tried, she gave herself credit for that, she had tried to Ashtallion that she was already working with weaving - despite the outcome. She could hear him before, so she knew he was somewhere there. She knew there would most likely be other people walking closeby as well - but she cared little for how they thought of her - she was just having a little practice in a bid to show her brother something special.

Well, what she had shown him could be descibed as special - a special, swirling, spirialing maestrom beyond either of their control.

Now, how to stop this.

Alu guessed that if she broke her thought on the weaving, it could consume her, she was in a very dangerous situation, but she knew that if she ceased to try and connect with the force from within - diffusing the power from herself - she might have a chance.

Alustariel ceased her efforts

Images flooded back to her of Alexu Auros, her mentor at the University of Magich, she invisioned him as he taught her how to ground herself and begin to work the energy around oneself. The image was vivid in her mind and she began to recall both movement and centering excercises that Alexu had taught her.

Alustariel began to stand with her knees slightly bent with her arms stretched out in front of her, her hands cupped and facing each other.

Alustariel tried to slowly bring her hands together and pull them apart equally as slow, trying to work the useless energy that had amassed around her. At the same time she began her breathing excercise and began to attempt to sink back, as Alexu had put it, trying to find the rythym in the not so quiet street around her and place herself in it.

One thing remained however, the energy she failed to utilise and which gathered around her may need an output to escape and release itself.

So, still keeping her pace slow and breathing in through the nose, Alu aimed her cupped hands to the sky and prepared to try and let the maelstrom go.

All Ashtllion could do was stand there and watch, worry and fear coiling around his gut like slithering serpents. He wrung his hands, took a few steps back, not wanting to get drawn into that vortex. The mage had stopped throwing any of his own weavings, they merely got sucked into his sister, his beautiful sister, he did not want to lose her again.... not after so many yahren.

The two Urdil siblings still had so much to catch up on. So much to do, to accomplish.... magic and wonder, repect and power. It was all there to be had, to reach for... and if Asht had anything to say about it, both his sister and himself would reach those dizzying heights.

Swirling
........Swirling
..............Swirling

It was so easy to just go with it, to allow the stream to take her along and whisk her away to unimagined possibilities.

Yet she didn't.

Instead of forcing things to go her way the girl chose to just let it go; probably the smartest of decisions as far as Ashtallion could see, because now his sister was no longer disappearing in the strange vortex of energy, but was standing in the middle as clear as day, ready to battle what she had conjured up.

Grounding herself as she had been taught some of the energy immediately sought a way out through her system into the earth, leaving her hair stand on end and her skin crackling with visible sparks. It was a good thing Alu did not decide to let all of it flow back through her, or she might have burned up on the spot.

While the young woman moved back into her body and made real contact with the ground Ashtallion could see the energy diffusing. The most pressing need was gone as soon as his sister touched the earth, her forced centering proving the potential residing within her. It left her with a last few hands full instead of enough to raise the dead.

No longer spiralling in, the energy kept playing around her, touching, testing the boundaries and trying to find a way in to the earth. At this moment she was still the most logical choice to travel through, but it seemed the woman had other plans to discard the energy. Impatiently it waited for her to make the decision, slowly growing again with each passing flicker.

Lashing out.

A new target! The strands of gold and silver suddenly grabbed another passerby. Ashtallion might recognize the wanderer as Gerenor who suddenly stiffened and turned his head towards the twins. His mouth opened, but no sound came out as the strands started to colour a particular shade of green the mage had seen before, swirling and twirling around it's newest victim.

The pressure around Alu lessened considerably as the energy divided itself up over two persons. There was no telling what would happen if she let go of the spiral, but somehow it seemed unlikely she was going to get scorched at this point in her controlled liberation of the magic she had inadvertently bound to herself.

Come back to me Alustariel willed the energy hopefully.

The adhiel held her hands, still cupped to the passerby and began to move them out slowly and back in, attempting to re-gather the energy. It seemed releasing it to the sky had not been a good idea - but the earth seemed to take it easily.

Alustariel tried to pull everything she could away from the man before aiming her hands at the ground to release as much as she could.

In attempt to pull the energy back, she imagined it flowing back into her hands, down her arms and through her torso, down her legs to her feet - which now set on solid ground - and release into the earth below them.

Essentially, she planned to use herself as a conduit for the energy around them to channell down into the ground - she had no idea how to manage this energy - but she would try her best to steer it, at this stage it was all she had been instructed in.....and even then, not extensively.

She kept breathing slowly, She kept calm - if one was going to suffer for her mistake, she was going to suffer.

Ashtallion frowned, concentrating on what Alu was doing, noting with satisfaction that the immediate threat seemed to have vanished, the energy working its way, for the most part, in the ground. That was until the threads of silver and gold latched themselves to Gerenor.... the mage was at a loss. He could himself try and take some of the energy that Alu held around her, he knew it was too much for her to handle effectively, though for the moment she seemed to be coping.

His own inexperience gave him pause for concern, not knowing if he would make things worse, upset the balance of Alu's channelling...and then there was the energy around Gerenor, it was the same green power that had nudged his own earlier on. " Gerenor! ", Asht moved a few steps from his sister, towards the woodcrafter.

" Don't worry, I'll..... I'll sort something out.... ", Ashtallion plunged himself into his world of magic, grounding himself and finding that calm, clearing his mind of distractions and focusing on his Art, his life. Still, the wizard did nothing overt, he simply watched the energy, both around his sister and Gerenor, trying to find a way to help disperse, but looking more in depth at the source, the type of energy. Perhaps he could take it and use it in order to dispell the threads of magic.

The gold was almost absorbed now that Ashtallion ceased his magic interference. Silver strands took over the movement, pulling the green back towards Alu instead of keeping it nicely divided.

Split in two the two magic conduits might have been able to deal with it, but with Alu actively pulling back everything that had been sent out, she was stretching the boundaries again.

Ashtallion's observations went deeper than before. Not only did the colours show themselves in a more pronounced way, there was also a particular flavour to them which was very close to what had happened earlier that day. The green strands belonged with Gerenor, that much was now sure. Yet it was not any magic Asht had encountered before. It fed on the silver strands and turned them from the original owner, somehow augmenting whatever the original magics tried to do. In this case Alustariel had let go of the inward spiral, letting the energy flow back into the earth. In response the green strands tried to grab the silver and turn them towards Gerenors staff to enter the ground.

All of a sudden the balance changed again as Alu pulled the green back towards herself. At the same time a voice sounded: "Gerenor, don't you walk away from me!" A woman walked towards him, anger on her face.
Gerenor turned, distracted.
The green flared.
The silver pulled.

FLASH!

Energy collided, spinning out of control and throwing all four people closest by to the ground. It fought it's way back through Alu's attuned body, leaving her spasming all over. Gerenor's staff shattered from the impact. Ashtallion could feel the strands hit like lightning finding it's way to the ground. Luckily for these three their disposition protected them from any real bodily harm.

Alu was still alive.
Hurting, but alive.
Gerenor was groaning, obviously still amongst the living. Ashtallion had not been caught in the weave and was only touched by the shock. Still something smelled burned.

"Souffiane!" Gerenor's voice cried out.

Right behind him, her hand still touching the woodcarver's staff, the girl lay still, smoke rising from her charred clothes, her face down to the earth.

After the initial silence voices started to respond, people came running. "What happened?"
"A lightningbolt!"
"Someone was hurt!"

Ashtallion rose his hands, barly in time, trying to ward off the energy, yet there was little need.... he felt the shock, was thrown aside, yet there appeared to have been no lasting damage done to him. The same could not be said of Alu, nor of the Souffiane woman. The smell of charred flesh hung pungently in the air, the thought of what had happened to the woman was only on the borders of his mind just now.

" Sister! "

He ran to her side where she lay convulsing, not wanting to touch her just yet, the mage could only watch and wait for the spasms to pass. No magic of his could heal her of the pain, he was a battlemage, pain and death were what he dealt out. But he was also a protector, and just now he was protecting his sister.

Looking over to Gerenor, " How is she? Is she.... ", Ashtallion knew the magic was potent, he knew that anyone without protection could have been seriously harmed, if not worse. Then there was the strange magic, with Gerenor as its source... that question would have to wait until later. The wizard glanced about him, looking at the people making their way to the scene. Hopefully they would think of it as being nothing more than lightning, and not suspect Alu. He would protect her of course,

Alustariel!

If only he had known what to do, how to intervene. All he could do was fret with frustration.

"Dear brother, I love you" Alustariel groaned, trying to fit words through. "But I.... have failed you more than this.... The Seneschal knows who we are and I suspect she will investigate us.... as she did not trust me, so I told her as a last ditched attempt to aid us... I think I've made things worse"

Alustariel tried to flap her light hand to brush Asht's cheek "If they suspect me, you will be free from this. If they take me, they may look for you - if you go to somewhere else, make sure you leave me some clue to find you"

"But for now, tend to the girl! - It hurts like something chronic, but I should be alright in the longterm"

For a moment, Ashtallion did not register what his sister was saying, merely looking at her with a perplexed expression... one that darkened, shadows filling his eyes as comprehension and understanding seeped in. A sense of profound fear chilled the very blood in his viens, sent shivers up his spine.

There was anger in his demeanor, restrained, confused and anxious, " I see. ", was all he could muster at first, his face becoming a cold mask of indifference, one he rarely adopted but of which nothing good ever came. " I suppose you would have judged right to divulge the secret. Had I been there... ", I would have silenced the woman!, he shuddered at the thought that sweapt through him, visions of flame and lightning, of creeping shadows sinking their clawed teeth into his mind.

" The truth has a way of revealing itself eventually, hopefully there will have been no harm done... ", he looked over at the silent, still figure of Souffiane, the first unfortunate victim of what the adhiel could see as a dark and foreboding path. Shaking the image away, Asht moved away from Alu, " I will not be far, call me if you need me.. Alu. ", he drew a hand over his forehead, wiping away sweat and dirt, or trying to at least. " Gerenor... ", he knelt down beside his newly aquainted friend, his own inner struggle almost proving too much for his resolve to handle. Guilt riddled his thoughts, despite the magic being none of his weaving.

Pain swept through Alustariel. But not the physical sort, the indifference from her twin hurt - she had never seen him behave such, and she could tell that he was happy to remain Lustros Goldeneye. Alu knew that one day all would be found out - and what of Idris and Falgan, when they found out that the pair they had known for days, weeks or months? - were liars?. It was Alustariel's idea to lie though, and she had gone back on her word with Ashtallion to reveal themselves to anybody.

The Adhiel did not know what hurt more, Lying or falling short of her brother's expectations.

This could well drive a stake between them that would otherwise have been unthinkable. Such a thought was most chilling to Alustariel. Perhaps if the authorities did come after Alu for this magical implosion - it would give enough of a distraction for Ashtallion to flee unnoticed,

Alustariel lay there, sobbing silently, but attempting to gather enough resolve to stand up and face the consquences of her actions.

The remaining tables of the Lotus Blossom Inn were completely emptied of visitors as everyone found a good reason to run out and see the damage. For once the rain was no obstacle, excited voices tumbling over each other while trying to be the most coherent and informative of all. All in all it did not help the situation one bit.

"Who's hurt? There's two women down!"
"No, no she's talking, the other one ain't!"
"Are they Adhiel?"
"No, look! That one's gotta be human! The Adhiel are okay!"
"They called down lightning!"
"What did she do?"

Clustering around Souffiane it was hard for Ashtallion to get through. Alu was left alone, obviously not hurt enough to be of any interest to the storyseekers. The rain washed down most of the burning sensation and left her only with the muscle aches of an incredible work out.

"Souffiane!" Gerenor tried again, afraid to touch the girl. He looked at Asht with anxious eyes. "She's not moving. Lustros, what should we do? I am no healer!" His gaze swept over the assorted crowd. "Someone please get help! This girl needs help!"

"Let's get her inside." A grumbling voice conceded. The innkeeper stepped forward through the rows of people, wincing as he saw the motionless body. "Dear gods up above and beyond." He breathed. "Come on, let me get her..."

With a healthy hesitation the man carefully lifted the girl and brought her inside. Immediately the entire crowd tried to follow, drowning Ashtallion and Gerenor in the process.

"What should we do!" Gerenor groaned, his face drawn. "This is all my fault!"

" This is not your fault, Gerenor. ", his eyes strayed to the prone figure of his sister, " It is no one's fault. ", his voice grated against suppressed tears, " We will send for a healer... ", his words were swallowed by the crowd pressing in around them both, driving a wedge, forcing him from the side of his sister, leaving her vulnerable.

" Stand back! ", his voice ecohed with distant thunder, an anger coming into his words, his senses tingling with the periphery touch of magic. He no more wanted Souffiance engulfed than himself and Gerenor. " This man is a close friend to her. Let him passed. ", golden eyes sweapt through the crowd, letting magic seep behind those eyes to add power and strength to his words.

He had no idea what to do.

So much ran through his head he could barely concentrate on the matter at hand, thoughts running wild, Alustariel, alone and with out him, Alustariel trying to weave magic beyond her reach and without a mentor to guide her. Anger, fear, indecision. He had to make his decision fast, and pray that the woman Souffiance was alright!

Alu felt like she was going to vomit, between all the convulsions and energy mixed with the emotion was making her head spin. She felt giddy and weak. How could she be so stupid!

Tears came easily now as she got to her feet painfully. Alu could see the crowd pouring into the inn behind the inn-keeper - and that girl.

Souffiane

How could this happen? What if the girl died - there was already going to be hell to pay when the Seneschal heard of this. But if Alustariel responsible, she would not shirk the consequences - regardless, if Souffiane died, Alu would be wracked with guilt for the rest of her life - The adhiel would never take an innocent life, to do so was a very betrayal to her being.

A thousand times over she cursed her impulsiveness. Alustariel tried to see if she could walk easily enough, if the girl needed a healer, Alu would not sit by and lament her mistake - Alu would try to find one.

Alustariel would try and do what she could to help - and face the any repremand after that.

As the girl was lifted into the barman's arms Ashtallion's voice reached out over the crowd. It travelled further than usual, augmented by his conscious use of subtler magics. Those touched by his tiny strands turned to face the strange man and took a step back to let the small procession through.

Gerenor nodded at his friend's suggestion that they'd get a healer, but he was following the girl inside. Nobody made a move towards getting help, all intent on witnessing the scene.

A drizzle dripped through the leaves down on the crowd, who were all pointedly ignoring poor Alustariel. Her body did not protest too hard when standing up and even walking was well within the limits of her muscle aches. It felt like the day after a harsh work out, but nothing seemed to be damaged.

Her twin's small magics were easily picked up on. It was so clear what he was trying...and he was succeeding although everyone kept as close to the scene as possible. Up until now no cries of death were heard, giving Souffiane a fair chance of still being alive.

Ashtallion nodded in satisfaction as he was heard and evidently obeyed. Yet he still maintained the slightest of touches on his magic, incase he needed it.

Gesturing to a random person amongst the crowd, " Would you be kind enough to quickly find a healer? The girl needs one. ", there was a look in those golden eyes that hinted at not taking 'no' as an answer. Turning his attention back to Souffiane and Gerenor, guilt welled up in the mage, and pity and sadness. He hid it for now though, not wanting to show a sign of weakness on the gossip mongering crowd.

Coming closer to Souffiance, Ashtallion went to gently place the tips of his delicate fingers onto her neck, to check and see if her lifebeat was still steady and strong. Father of the Heavens, keep this child safe.... let her live..., yes there was a part of Asht that wanted her alive for very selfish reasons. Anything that happened to the woman would most likely fall upon Alu, and that was something Ashtallion 'Goldeneye' Urdil was not prepared to let happen.

Just as Alustariel 'Silverhair' Urdil was not going to sit around feeling sorry for herself - nobody else seemed to be filing off to go and find a healer.

Alu could see her brother moving through the crowd, He will handle everything well, alright, but I better find some extra help. I want to be able to apologise to Soffiane, not her coffin.

Alu knew that the place where the portal stood, where they had emerged but yesterday, was also a great temple in Cerlaean. Surely the Priesthood of K'tan would have healers among them.

The Lotus Blossom in sat on the very verge of the Garden that marked the temple, she remembered Idris directing them to it last night.

With her re-disovered strength to walk, Alustariel began to move as quickly as she could towards the Gardens, and to the first cleric-looking individual that she could find - or hoped she could find.

"Quickly, put down a mantle or something." The innkeeper ordered once they got inside. Obligingly a soft cloak was thrown over one of the tables, giving Souffiane something of comfort when the man put her down gently.

The girl looked terrible, her clothes blackened and torn, the lightning having used her to find the shortest route to the earth. Her boots were gone, her feet still smoking. If whatever was hidden behind the remnants of clothing looked as bad as the rest, there was a distinct chance she would never wake up again.

As it was her breathing came in ragged gasps through sprung lips, her burned face set in a painful grimace. The left side of her hair was all gone, as well as her ear, marking the passing of the bolt of pure energy.

"Souffiane!" Came another cry. People were pushed aside without concern for anyone's wellbeing. "Souffiane!" A sob followed when Dylain caught sight of his unmoving sister on the table. His hand reached out to touch her, but hovered just above her body. He was shaking badly, afraid to touch her and hurt her more. The man looked around and found a deadly pale Gerenor closeby. His worry changed in anger.
He found Ashtallion standing next to Gerenor.
His eyes channeled his rage.

"YOU!" He bellowed, ready to jump at Ashtallion's throat. "YOU are responsible! You and your damn magics!"

Immediately other guests intervened, trying to keep the situation from deteriorating further. "Dylain! Easy! There's plenty of witnesses, it wasn't him."

"THEN WHO!" He demanded to know, looking around wildly and succeeding in what the innkeeper nor Ashtallion had managed: people moved away from the table, leaving a relative space for those directly involved.

Still being held by two sturdy customers Dylain faced Asht again. "You....I know you have magics. Do something. You HAVE to do something! It's magic that caused this...The gods damn you for standing idly by, DO something and let her live!" His eyes were locked on the mage, desperation and rage fighting for victory.

In stark contrast to the heated atmosphere inside the air outside the building smelled fresh with the rain washing down the remnants of what had happened only burns ago. A blackened spot in the grass and several missing branches was all that proved what disaster could have taken place so close to the inhabited inn.

From the looks of it Alustariel remembered the layout of these gardens well. It should not take long at all to get to the temple and find the healer that was being cried out for.

"HEY! She's getting away! STOP HER!"

Three men came after her, their faces set on thunder. They caught up easily with the young Adhiel, roughly grabbing her by the arms and dragging her back to the inn. They obviously did not expect her to put up a big fight, judging from the sloppy way in which they escorted her.

"You are not going to get away that easily, missy!" The moustached one grumbled, dragging her along. "You're gonna face the consequences! Get inside, you!"

Already they pushed and pulled her up to the inn's entrance, giving her a clear view of the crowd gathered inside...who actually backed off, showing a human facing off with her brother.

"You....I know you have magics. Do something. You HAVE to do something! It's magic that caused this...The gods damn you for standing idly by, DO something and let her live!" The man's voice croaked just before the people around her yelled: "HERE she is! SHE's the guilty one! I saw her!"

Immediately others picked up on the chant and pointed at Alu. "Yeah! She was the one! She was standing outside doing magic all along!"

"WHERE?" Dylain raged, turning his anger at the mage's sister. He was barely restrained by the two men holding him back. "You better PRAY she lives or I'll....I'll....Damn you, adhiel mages, MAKE HER LIVE! She is worth a million of you!" Tears streamed out of his eyes.

" You'll do what?! "

Ashtallion's words bellowed from his mouth, the magic still behind them.

He rose a hand above his head, gathering threads of air to shift his robes and hair, nothing offensive, just to give an intimidating look about himself, weaving in strands of light energy to cast a glow about himself. " Harm my Sister in anyway and you will have me to deal with, and trust me when I say that I am not this pleasent when I am angry. ", the adhiels own eyes smouldered with pent up rage.

" My sister did not intentionally mean to harm, Souffiane, such is not within her nature. She tried weaving magic, and she is still largely untrained... ", his golden gaze shifted to Alu for but a heart beat and it was then back on the crowd. " Neither is it within mine. ", he dropped his hand and with it his spell woven wind. " But I will not have her held as such. Release her now. It was an accident... ", that gaze rested heavily on Dylain, " ....a tragic one. It does not make it alright, but it was an accident. "

Moving closer to Souffiane, his eyes wandering every now and then to Alu, making sure his orders had been followed. " I am no Healer... I am a Battlemage... if I tried anything I would most likely cause more harm than good. I suggest that someone finds a healer, incase she deteriorates... now! "

Ashtallion suppressed tears of anger and frustration, not wanting to show weakness infront of Dylain, least the man take it upon himself to attack the mage again. His own hand hovered over the woman, his magical senses trying to reach out and see if there was anything he could do. He knew nothing of anatomy, of life forces.... but still, he did not want to stand by idly.

"Easy brother"

Alustariel soothed calmly to Ashtallion, from the moment they dragged her back and with Dylan screaming in her face, Alustariel kept her resolve. Looking at the many faces staring at her, she addressed them all "Yes, It was I who tried to weave and control something that was greater than I could understand, my lack of understanding has led to this accident. I do not deny it, and I am remorseful"

She looked to Dylan now, his rage clearly overwhelming him "Trust me when I say that I did not mean to harm anybody" Alu did not offer too much of a smile, any audacity might send this man over the edge "I will face any repremand, but I was not fleeing just now (or idly standing by, for that matter) - I was going to the Garden Temple of K'tan to find a healer - obviously nobody here posesses such a skill, not even my brother and I"

"If you want to detain me here until Soffiane's is safe, then I will not resist - but I suggest either somebody else be sent to the Temple to request aid, or, Soffiane be carried there"
