Of meetings and proposals and stuff (Chyril 27 TT) Rae

Post by Raevyn D`Altamooriana »

Raevyn left Draydis and the rest to venture forth on their own while she went to tend to matters of her own. Dray's last words to her meant little although they did ring true. She was a dark adhiel, that alone was enough to make her stand out in a crowd let alone by herself in a place such as this.

That however was a problem that was remedied quite simply. All the dark adhiel would have to do is blend in. Her ability to disguise herself had worked on a few occasions in some of the more densely populated areas like King's Court and when she was in The Citadel. However Pax Balthasar was a far cry from the aforementioned places. Blending in would be a bit more difficult here, and she would have to work on becoming better at it.

Again that was a problem that could easily be solved by the Guardswoman. How was a girl to go about that? By shopping! Raevyn was by no counts poor. She had money and oft time dressed the part. However some of her more extravagant attire would probably make her stick out just as much as her black skin.

The devotee to Anasati would have to be less grand with her clothing for starters. Also more make up couldn't hurt any either. More powder, rouge, and another kohl stick or two would definitely help. That was only a part of her shopping that had to be done. She would also have to buy some ingredients that she would have to use for mixing poisons and consequently their remedies. The remedies could wait however. Raevyn wasn't too concerned about poisoning herself all that much. She had ingested enough on her own during her initiation into her faith to kill most people. Her high tolerance to poison was tested and true, so her concern wasn't.

Melissa was her main objective however. The dark adhiel had a proposal to make, one which she was certain that Melissa would at least be interested in hearing. Yet Draydis' words again echoed in her mind. If eyes were everywhere, then it was better to mislead them by not going straight to her first objective.

With her mind made up, Raevyn set of first to find the local market to get some of the things she felt she would need. That way she could also talk to some of the local merchants about the recent goings on here in Pax. From experience, Raevyn knew that the word on the streets was some of the most important information one could hope to obtain.

As Rae wandered the streets of Pax, she learned that the previous day had been the main market day in Pax and there would not be a major market until the following week. However, she did pass a small semi-permanent farmer’s market that was set up by the Forest Gate for the sale of foodstuffs. The Main Street of the town proved more promising, containing a number of shops for basic goods. Of particular interest was a clothing shop.

In the middle of the Main Street in Pax stands a long one-storey wooden building. A wooden sign hangs out above the door announcing the name of the establishment: Cloths and Clothing. Anyone entering through the unprepossessing small, wooden door will find a large, open area filled with an untidy array of bales of cloth, hats, boots, a variety of clothing, ornaments, brooches and practically anything else that can be worn. The clothing appears to be more functional than elegant and there is no obvious method of organisation. In fact, the whole place is an untidy mess. Still, most of the everyday requirements of the citizens of Pax can be obtained from the establishment.

Anyone entering will be greeted by a small, dark-haired achadhiel with a bright smile. “May I help you?”

The young priestess wasn't too pleased to find out that she had missed what was thee day to get most of what she wanted to get accomplished done. It was a minor setback, but a setback nonetheless. Still there was the chance to get a few things she would need as well as hopefully happen across some information that might be of some us to her and the rest. She tried to listen in on what few conversations she could hear as she made her way along Main Street. If something of interest came up she would browse around somewhat in hopes of finding out more.

The clothing shoppe was a sight for the adhiel. They had clothes alright, but not quite what she herself had grown used to. Yet Raevyn knew that if she were to blend in more with the locals, this would be one of the first steps in doing so.

"Yes," Raevyn answered choosing to speak in her native tongue. "You can first tell me where I can find where the nether things are in this place." Raevyn was clueless as to where to begin with everything apparently tossed haphazardly throughout the establishment. "I need clothing... something more suitable for this town."

The achadhiel appeared momentarily perplexed by Reavyn's reaction to the chaotic nature of the place. “Everything has its place,” the shopkeeper murmured, glancing around the room as if to confirm that all was as it should be.

“Do you require everyday clothing or clothing for work? Something for a journey into the mountains? Or perhaps formal wear for the evening? If you tell me your precise requirements, I am sure that I can oblige.” As she was speaking, the shopkeeper absent-mindedly picked up a long piece of pink, lace ribbon. She wound it round a long slender finger, glanced at Raevyn, then shook her head and let the ribbon fall back on top of a bright red gown.

“There is no true fashion in Pax,” continued the achadhiel, clearly dismayed at her own statement. “Most citizens arrive with what few possession they have and supplement it by basic clothing. Food and survival are the main commodities here. No garments are out of place.” A disapproving look flew across from the shopkeepers eyebrows towards her customer.

Yeah that would be sufficient.
