Her eyes snapped open at the scream, and Janus' voice as it echoed through her mind. Yet it was too late. Keaira's eyes widened, pupils contracting in fear, in shock. Disgust turned her already pale skin pallid, sweat beading on its surface as she struggled against the power. Too much. She felt as if she would vomit, her fists clenching, toes curling, the muscles in her stomach contracting in an effort to control the overwhelming desire to expel everything within her. She felt dazed, angry, sick, overwhelmed. Then he was there again, speaking to her.

Resist. Push away. Her thoughts struggled to become something uniform, teeth clenching as she shut her eyes again. And she pushed.

Outside and inside, she pushed. Beginning from her chest, just above her stomach, she concentrated her newfound powers and urged them to expand; to remove the power she had underestimated; to force back the assault. Keaira attempted to create a shield much like Talanwei's. Something tangible to hold the ill will at bay, that would expand from around her and force back anything that wished harm upon her. That the Achadhiel was near her was the only reason she might come to protect him as well, for otherwise she would have left him to die. Yet at the moment all she cared for was herself. All she thought of was forcing that demon away. All she wanted was to survive.

And she knew she could.

Neit could feel the new strength coursing through her body as she tested it out. She knew not the limit of this ability, but knew it was there...and that gave her immense confidence. She had watched the swordsmen fight with incredible speed. The mages had unleashed amazing power. She wanted to have a taste of what power she held in this world...and that time to find out was now.

The location of the two hammers were directly at her feet. Neit knew not the abilities or weapons that the humans around her held, but they certainly seemed to be giving her respect. Was this a sign that they knew they were weaker? Still, she was not just a pile of muscle...her approach was always the way of the thinker.

As this thought entered her mind, the demon began to tear apart the alley. James entered the building and for the immediate future, he was no longer a threat. Her eyes followed him inside and then focused back on the female officer.

Suddenly, Neit looked up above the officers and shouted. "WATCH OUT!" She hoped the cops would react, but regardless, she went for her hammers. With one in each hand, she pushed hard against the ground with her feet. Her plan was to jump towards the nearest cluster of citizens in hopes of using them as living shields against the police. If necessary, she could hurl the innocent people towards those that would cause her harm...or perhaps she'd just throw one or two just to see how far a human can really fly...

In any event, she'd have to get to them first. With as much speed as her frame could manage, she moved...

The world around him suddenly went silent. It had been the demon's roar that made his ears ring painfully. There was not time to worry for now, but he hoped that it was only temporary.

Fortunately, hearing was not needed to alert the guardsman to the danger of the flames heading towards his position. The demon was clearly trying to entangle him in hopes of taking Draydis with it in an eternal slumber of fire.

With the Crone's flaming sword in his hand, Dray moved. The flesh of the demon was attempting to keep him restrained where the fire would fall, and Dray was not certain he could move in time. As he made an effort to get away, he attempted to focus and unleash some of the Crone's power within him at the demon. The guardsman did not know if it were possible to unleash the holy power in such a way, but he did know that with the Crine, anything was possible. He imagined the greenish-black energy exploding from him much like lightning would. His mind created the picture of the demon being encased in the Crone's energy, allowing him to escape from both the demon and the fire...
