The Summer Festival - Pax

Post by Guido Cercatoro »

A thread to provide periodic information on the festival. All players in pax can assume knowledge of these events.

On the wall of the Merchants’ Hall a large poster had been attached announcing the forthcoming festival.

SUMMER FESTIVAL

The summer festival, sponsored by the Merchant’s Council, will begin on the eventide of the 30th of Jygust and last for three days. A market will be set up around the stone cube for the duration of the festival. The main events will take place in the Festival Field adjacent to the barracks but other events will take place throughout the town.

Main Events

Eventide 30th Jygust: A musical concert in the Festival Field

Eventide 31st Jygust: The Pax Games: competitions and sports in the Festival Field including archery, horse riding, running and throwing events.

Eventide 32nd August: Music and Drama, the Pax Marathon Run and Closing Ceremony.

All are welcome to celebrate the coming of summer.

The arrival of the Barons 29th Jygust

The day before the opening of the summer festival brought with it a long stream of new arrivals into Pax. Most were traders hoping to sell their wares or visitors wishing to participate in the games or attend the concerts. Amongst the most prominent newcomers were two barons and one baroness from the Border Estates. The lowest key arrival was the Baroness of Murrulbuck who arrived with a small group of servants through the portal. The other two arrivals were more noticeable. The sumptuously dressed Baron of Foreno arrived on a snow-white charger escorted by a large group of Foreno guardsmen resplendent in their blue and yellow livery. Strangely, he was greeted by Lieutenant Tamerton rather than the Baron’s son, the Provost. The final arrival was the most unusual of the three, the Baron of Hulmnoy accompanied by two of his daughters and a small group of retainers. The Baron appeared somewhat dishevelled and distracted, looking around nervously as he rode. He wore a helmet to which had been attached two antlers.

All three new arrivals were escorted to the guest quarters which had recently been constructed adjacent to the barracks and Provost Office.
