Stock Check (Samheen 20, Eveningtide) ~ Dench

Post by Guest »

Dench stood aside as three of his orcs hauled the last of the loot out onto the deck. Dench had ordered gathere up all the kit and belongings of the orcs who had died fighting for the ship, and also any weapons or armour the humans might have left behined. He looked appraisingly at the pile in the middle of the deck. He expected to find mostly razhakain, the long wave-edged glaive-like weapons the orcs called raldegar and either kovadak or kradak shields. Dench began to sift through the pile, he aimed to have every one of his orcs equipped with not only a razhakain, but a raldegar, one of each type of shield and a decent supply of the heavy vargi javelins. He was also on the look out for any of the slightly rarer chain shirts, the only concession to armour most orcs would ever make.

OOC: My apologies Dench. I totally forgot this thread.

IC: A large pile it was indeed. There were all kinds of weapons and his comrades were still returning with even more killing devices. Within the pile there were not only orcish weapons, but also those of manlings and other non-orcish creatures - dwarves, adhiels and perhaps even gnoms.

Around Dench, the orcs were running back and forth. Most of them did not really do anything useful. Instead they followed the stream of other orcs which appeared to know what they were doing.

To the pile then. There were several razhakains, a total of 14, and an equal number of raldegars - perhaps 15 or 16. Then there were a large amount of shields, about 25 including both kodavak and kradak. It was only a small number of javelins. And most of them he could find where damaged. 5 useful javelins out of a total of 27 was the final count.

In a separate pile were the different weapons created to and of other creatures. Weaker creatures. There were several ordinary short-swords and long-swords, it might add up to 10 and 12 of each.

Then there were chainmails and such. There were a large pile of leather armors. And another equal of cloth armor with pourpoints. Four ringmails and 14 chainmails was the last in that pile. Finally there was even a Cuir-Bouilli, and it was large enough to fit any orc. It might have been worn be a former leader of some sort, but now it was untidely thrown amongst other armors.

Dench began to sort through the pile, first tosssing out any armour larger than a hauberk and anything too small to fit an Orc. He selected himself the largest chain-mail hauberk he could find - as one of the biggest Orcs on the ship, he didn't want to be stuck with something sized for an Human. He moved on from the armour, selecting himself the best-made raldegar he could find in the pile. He stepped back, then returned and picked up the most impressive Kradak - more for completeness than anything else. He strode off to one side and looked around for a moment,

"Marak! You take next."

Marak stepped casually forward throwing his arms up and down. He stared at the pile. He extended his hand and followed Dench's example. A well-made plate, a kradak and raldegar. He growled happily and flexed his impressive muscles. Now Marak was ready for anything and he sliced through nothingness. Swoosh. Swoosh. Swoosh. "Grraghh. Now we ready to fight. Arghhh!"

Then a smaller and leaner orc moved forward from the line and seized a a raldegar. And another orc pushed himself forward to join. He shoved the prior orc away and leaned forward to pick himself the weapons which he thought would fit him.

The angry orc whom had just been shoved away grimaced madly. He had the raldegar in his hand, yet he opted not to use it against the comrade. Instead he kicked the other in the back so the bending orc crashed into the pile of sharp edges. A howl escaped him when he trashed into the pile and began to rowl around. "AARRGGGHHHH!!!"
