Kaelara's Corner ~ Buy, Sell, Trade

Post by Finley Ward »

Outside

Kaelara's corner was slowly becoming distinguishable from the rough houses on either side, with a plain sign bearing stark white letters overhanging the street. There was an empty space twixt 'Kaelara's Corner' etched into the top and "Buy ~ Sell ~Trade" curved along the bottom edge, where a future artist might ply his trade. The plain verandah was small, but shaded, with a few dusty steps and a plain wood railing that had obviously been used for securing horses, with dried horse leavings ground into the dust by the many passerbys. Two large windows, shutters thrown wide, allowed a glimpse into the interior, where a young Adhiel woman, pert of feature and small of frame, could occasionally be seen.

A Notice board adorned the wall space between the door and right window. One of the notices, scribed in neat, plain letters said - in both Adhiel and Common - 'Inquire within to post. Thankyou!'

Inside

The shop was square, one noticed upon entering, with a long counter running a few paces from the back wall. There was a gap in the middle of the counter, which led to a plain door that bisected the back wall. A small wood square hung, separating the back counter from the rest of the shop.

Most of the store was sorted into various tools, building items, and household staples, smaller items on the shelves, and larger items hung at the edges or along the walls. Empty barrels, once filled with various food, sported useless cups dangling from their exteriors where they lined the far right wall. Most of the counter, and the shelves beneath it, contained fabric - blankets, a few simple garments, a few rolls of cloth of basic colors and hardy material. The wall behind the counter contained a small hearthplace, currently empty and cold, near the floor - but a few hatchets and other 'sharper' wares were hung on the walls - conveniently out of reach from curious customers.
