Back in the game (Burpin Dragon Samheen 26th)

Post by Guest »

The Burpin Dragon is a two floor friendly Inn for those travelers down on their luck. Run by an odd couple this Inn caters to the poor and kind of heart. Here a man or woman can get experienced advice, new jokes and a place to stay for a very low price. Bardic and rogueish people tend to frequent this Inn the most. Bards share their talents and compete in a friendly atmosphere, while rogues can feel safe and secure for a night.

The well decorated foyer contains a grumbling old dwarf behind a desk, a place to hang your coat, a few comfy seats to rest in while waiting to check in, and a few baked goods to sample while your relaxing.

A stairway leads up to the second floor and a doorway leads into the Bar, where sounds of merry fun can be heard.

It wasn't so much that he had anything to hide, but moreso that there could still be people around the citadel that wanted to call in some debts. It was best that he come into the city unnamed, and he had achieved his first goal. Now it was a matter of learning about the changes of the last few years and finding a way back into the game.

Kalam made his way to the Dragon. A room for the time being and some time in the common room. He would spend the time listening to the locals and keeping an ear for any familiar names, and maybe if he was lucky he might even find a game.

The Burpin Dragon was clearly a choice spot to be during the theoretically leisurely Rasday. As the day of rest, many businesses and institutions were closed for the day, with the notable exceptions of all churches and temples...this was their day...as well as public houses that drew in laborers and merchants in record numbers. The Dragon was no exception at all, and as Kalam surveyed the establishment where it stood at the focal point of the Inner Ring, it was clear to see that much of middle class society was out and in attendance. After all, there were few better places to enjoy a day of rest than the local pub.

The crowds within were strangely presented, however. There were a few well-dressed citizens mingled among artisans and laborers filling the taproom...there were precious few tables free, and only those placed at the most curious of places, such as near an archway or out in the open...but the bar itself was rather empty of people for a good distance all around. Only two people sat at the bar, seated upon little stools...not all taverns in the Citadel allowed for seating at the bar...and those two, a curious little man with dark hair and clothes and a young lady that might have been a street urchin grown up...were seated and sipping at beers while the bartender, a cranky-looking dwarf, worked away to fill glasses and mugs as orders came in from his harried staff.

During any day of rest, business usually came to a stop...save for Temples and pubs. And the Burpin Dragon was doing good business indeed.
