DREAM GUY: The Gravetide of Kithara [part of challenge 2]

Post by Guest »

The eveningtide had passed. All guests found themselves escorted to their rooms by helpful servants, and if necessary undressed.

The room contained a large bed with canopy, with featherfilled cushions and matress. There was a wardrobe, as well as a desk with a chair, and each room featured a hearth and of course, the balcony, with doors that opened wide to the lovely garden filled with countryside flowers.

While they had celebrated a formal evening with the Count, the household had not been idle. All the clothes the ladies brought had been unpacked and carefully folded, or hung out as appropriate, in the wardrobe. Personal items graced the desk, which now also had a small mirror should anybody feel the need to check their appearance.

Kithara locked the door to her room, then leaned against it with a sigh. The servants had come and gone, graciously unpacking the clothing she brought with her and now she was left in peace.

"Thank goodness," She murmured. The evening had been exactly exhausting, but it had dragged on and soon she had found herself getting bored. No fun, no flirting, nothing.

"The men in Roque are so much more interesting. Or maybe its just his nobles instinct: Don't give anything out that can be used against you." Whatever it was, it had driven Kithara insane.

"I should have set something on fire - atleast that would have gotten a reaction out of the ladies. Feigned pleasantries are not my idea of fun." She sighed again, dragging herself away from the door and undoing her dress. Gratefully, she pulled it off and pulled on the oversized tunic that was her customary sleeping garb, then went to open the balcony windows.

The country garden was lovely and the floral scents that drifted in made her sleepy.

"I should probably go to bed," She yawned, but didn't budge. Instead, she wandered out further, before sitting down on the balcony floor. The chill on the balcony seeped through the tunic into her tunic but she paid no mind.

"I wish the women would stop playing at being socialites and just be themselves. Acting is fun, surely, but tonight was ridiculous! They sucked the fun out of everything! I'm sure all of them know how to have fun, but tonight-" She cut of her rant in a frustrated growl, muttering obscenities under her breath.

"Some people!"

"Some people... look lovely in the shadows of gravetide," said a deep baritone voice to the right of her, revealing the grinning face of Guy de Reve, who was scaling against the wall of the mansion, making use of the vines as if it was a simple ladder.

With practised ease Guy pushed over the railing. He was wearing black leather pants and an easy flowing white shirt with lacy cuffs. The light falling on the balcony from the room revealed a dark stubble on his chin. A blue sapphire sparkled in his right ear.

Folding his arms over his chest he watched Kithara with amusement "So, I'm boring, am I?"

"It's rude to eavesdrop." Kithara answered automatically as the Count stepped out of the shadows. "And no, you're not boring. The evening took a boring turn. You, my lord, are interesting, confusing and a box full of surprises."

She leaned back on her palms so she could take him in better. She had to admit, he was good looking.

"And I would assume that any man, noble or not, who was mad enough to stuff the house with eleven women, most of whom were vying for you attentions, could not possibly be boring." It was at that moment that her mind decided to recall his very first comment. "And what do you mean some people look lovely in..."

It only took a flicker for her mind to process the implications. She sighed, looking down at her bare legs before standing up.

"Men. Always talk in riddles! He couldn't just tell me I was sitting with nothing but a shirt on - nooo, he had to admire me." Her mutterings continued as she reentered her room and stalked to her wardrobe where she pulled out a pair of breeches. Forcefully, she stuffed her legs into the pants before looking back up at him. It took her only a few flickers before she was standing infront of him with her arms crossed across her chest.

"You've a real sense of humor, you know that?" If he hadn't been so much taller than her she would have poked him in the chest. "I've half a mind to..."

She broke off with a sigh, waving her hand dismissively.

"Forget it; nothing is going to wipe that grin off of your face. Except maybe getting mauled by a half-giantess. Speaking of which: It was highly under appreciated that you left that dagger sticking out of the pig when there was a drunk half-giantess within two feet of it. There were a million possibilities. One being that she went after you." She smiled wickedly at him. "She was incredibly angry when she discovered that this was part of a bet you made with your cousin. She seems bent on making you miserable. At least she was when I left."

"Twenty at first," Guy corrected her as he watched her move back into her room, his eyes caressing her bare legs. Such a lovely view from up here. He gave a sigh of regret when he noticed she was stuffing them into pants with quick angry movements before coming outside agian.

He just chuckled when Kithara mentioned the halfgiantess, dismissing her with a wave of his hand as he murmurred "Are you worried about my safety, milady?"

Guy leaned in closer, for he was quite a bit taller than she was, and took her chin, forcing her to look up at him and not move away without being rude. "Why don't you make sure I'm not miserable at all?" he teased before diving in, kissing her lips firmly, his other hand in the small of her back, steading her. He tasted of salt and rum, carrying with him the unmistakenable scent of Roque with its flowers and spices. "Mmm," he breathed against her lips, nibbling softly "This is what I wanted to do during dinner."

"Twenty. Eleven." Kithara gave a shrug, "A nest of vipers is a nest of vipers. And you, my lord, are about to become their meal."

She returned his smile, "Who says? I'm simply giving fair warning. I doubt you know what you've gotten yourself into." She gestured to the rest of the manor, "Otherwise, these rooms wouldn't be occupied by so many lovely ladies."

She was well aware of his proximity and had a vague idea of where the conversation was headed and when he kissed her she wasn't surprised.

"This is what I wanted to do during dinner." She laughed as a smile spread over her lips. The smile still on her lips, she tipped her head back.

"Really? Are you telling me that you imagined yourself on this balcony, with me, kissing me? And here I thought you offered me food because I was conveniently placed beside you." She stood on her toes, brushing her lips against his mouth and cheek so that she could whisper in his ear. One hand rested on his shoulder to steady herself, the other played idly with his black hair.

"You, my lord, really are a box full of surprises. I can't wait to see what you do for fun. Though," She pulled the silk ribbon out of his hair, letting it fall rougishly over his shoulders, "I've a pretty good idea where you might start."

She stepped back and out of his arms with a charming smile and tilted her head to the side, almost as if examining him.

"You look good like that." Before he could pull her back she moved to the balcony railing and leaned her back against it, patting the place beside her.

"Let's talk. I know you can kiss," She said with a teasing smile, "But what else do you do?"

Kithara did not scream, nor slap his face. Taking this as definate encouragement Guy groaned softly, his excitement growing as he pressed against her lips harder, parting them with his tongue, while his hand caressed her jaw, rubbing softly with his thumb. His other hand cradled her body closer, and she was pressed against his hard form while the kiss lasted.

When Kithara tipped back her head he let her go, his eyes a very dark blue, and slightly out of breath. A shudder went through him as her breath touched his cheek, but he resisted caressing her further, afraid to destroy the moment.

She loosened his dark curls and it fell over his shoulders and slightly into his face. He grinned at her mischeviously "A box of chocolate surprises I hope." For some reason her hand caught in his collar, loosening the knot and the white shirt fell open a bit, revealing the tanned skin of his chest. It was clear from up here that the Count must have had a regular workout. He carried none of the flab men in his position so easily gained.

He stared at her for a burn, like a predator about to leap upon her, before walking with calculated measure towards the railing of the balcony, not leaning against it, but instead stepping just inside her comfortzone without ever touching, dangerously close "I don't know," he teased, "What do nobles do for a living? They .. eat... hunt.. talk... " his voice dropped slightly "and seduce beautiful women. Isn't that pretty much it?"

Kithara's heart pounded with excitement as the Count moved closer to her perch on the balcony railing.

'Now this is fun. She thought.

Hmph. Fun? This isn't fun! This is you heading into trouble!
This is NOT trouble. It's absolutely innocent.
Right...that kiss was absolutely innocent.
I can handle it!
What about that...
That was an accident!
Hmph!

The arguments in her head with the more rational side of her mind were a regular occurance and a tradition she'd developed to keep her sanity during Claidisis's tirades. It had become easy for her to carry on a conversation in her head and continue normal conversation.

"It depends. Are you sweet or bitter?" She answered with a smile.

"I don't know," he teased, "What do nobles do for a living? They .. eat... hunt.. talk... " his voice dropped slightly "and seduce beautiful women. Isn't that pretty much it?"

See?! He said seduce! He's just like the rest of them!
Oh, shut up and let me have some fun.

The Count beng taller than her, the first thing she saw when he had come close enough was the open shirt and hard muscle. She gave him a charming smile.

"That can't possibly be all you do. Why are you nobles always so vague? For example: Do you hunt with dogs or on a horse? Do you talk about politics or women? Thats why you all have so much trouble with the common folk. You don't allow them to understand you. It's as if you're all so afraid they'll find something and use it against you. The most they see of you are shadows." She stood on her toes and brushed a stray curl of black hair behind his ear. Her voice lowered a bit as she stepped closer, closing a bit of the sparse space between them.

"Though, I must admit. The noble that I've met has a very pleasing shadow. He's charming and intelligent. In the short time that I've known him I've come to like him very much. But I'd like to get to know him just a little bit better..."

Guy grinned at her in the darkness "You know more than you think. What is it that attracts girls to the shadows I wonder." Not feeling at all obliged to play the good guy, and feeling encouraged by her closeness, he pulled her against his hard body, burying his lips in her neck, softly exploring as he whispered into the gravetide.

"I hunt with my rapier, my pistol and my wits." He nibbled on her earlobe before continuing further down "but never with horses or dogs."

"I talk about women, rum and profit most of the time," he confessed as his lips found the warmth of her neckline, licking the start of the curve of the wonderful orbs he found there "I find them to be the most passionate of subjects and I prefer passion above all else. It is what makes life worth living. However, there are times of talking, and times of doing."

He looked up, and with a sparkle in his blue eyes he loosened the ribbons of her clothing, exposing her skin to the cool air. One hand sneaked out and while leaning her against the railing he brough up her left leg and drapped it around his hip so that she enveloped him, unable to deny the way that she affected him "Now kiss me Kithara. I know you want to."

Kithara tipped her head back as the Count stepped closer to her.

"I don't know...perhaps the need to know what's hiding just beyond our reach."

Her fingers rested on his shoulders lightly, their grip tightening as he bent down and began his exploration. She gasped when he moved lower, which quickly dissolved into a soft moan of pleasure.

'Look at what he's doing!
I know! I have this under control!
That what you said LAST time!
That was once!
'

There were, in fact, no ribbons on Kithara's tunic and the only way that the Count could remove her shirt was by pulling it over her head. Something she did not intend to happen tonight. This was one of the few time she actually took Claidisis's advice about men. One of the few personal standards she held herself to: Men, no matter how good looking or charming, did not enter her bedroom after a few tides of conversation.

She would have laughed if she hadn't seen the look in his sparkling blue eyes when he told her to kiss him. With a teasing smile she took hold of his shirt gently and pulled him down.

"Who says? For all you know, I could find you positively revolting." She said, bringing her face closer to him. She leaned in for a quick kiss, teasing him slightly before she pulled away. "I could be drunk and think you some one completely different."

The fact that the tunic stayed on did not seem to bother Guy overly much. His hands roamed under it, the tunic crumpling up a considerable deal. The cold gravetide air brushed past the places his hot hands had just touched. Hands that had also loosened her breeches somewhat so that one of his hands now cupped her buttocks to press her closer as he growled against her lips and kissed her soundly once again, unable to do anything else after Kithara teased him so. Guy was a passionate 35 yahren old man and not used to being teased by young girls without much experience. From her actions he simply assumed she knew what she was doing. Yes! You are one hawt lady.

"Drunk?" he breathed against her lips, "No, you are not drunk, but you taste very spicy." He rubbed against her hips suggestively, still having a good hold on her leg with his other hand, wrapped nicely around his hip. With a little bump he made sure she sat on the railing, alinging her hips with his. " You are a very special lady you know. I haven't met anyone quite like you.... so daring. I wonder.. how much you dare?"

Kithara's insides jumped when the Count reached under her shirt.

'That's quite far enough!
Yes, I know.
I'm glad you do! Gentleman. HAH!
'

The young girl would have put an end to all of it entirely if it hadn't been for is next comment.

"...but you taste very spicy." Her eyes widened in surprise and her lips parted for a brief moment before she laughed, delighted. Her shoulders shook and her hands moved from his shoulders to her mouth, trying to muffle the laughter. Her moment of mirth, however, was interupted as her body slipped backwards and off of the balcony railing.

Giving a half horrified, half exhilirated gasp, she took hold of the hands which had, up until a moment ago, been roaming under her clothes. With a grin still on her lips she pulled herself back up.

"I'm sorry. It seems I lost control of myself for a moment. Its only...I've been told a great deal of things: I'm stubborn, I'm hotheaded...But I have never been told I taste like one thing or another."

The loss of self control had done some good in her favor though. Through nearly falling she had managed to dislodge her legs from around his hips and she was still gripping the hands that had seemed to have a mind of their own.

"Comments like that one tend to throw me off."

'Men,' She thought as she discreetly retightened her breeches, 'They've got one thing on their mind.'

"Don't. Wonder, I mean. A friend of mine dared me once...I was fifteen and he dared me to take the sword off of the mantel. I did and moments later he got me angry. I nearly plunged the sword through his leg. Lucky for him he was handy with his own sword." She grinned at him, "Afterwards I asked him for sword lessons and he told me I already had enough ways to injure him. He wasn't planning on giving me another."

'Let's see how good he is with words...'

"So, milord, should I be flattered by your attentions because you find me worthy of them or should I be insulted because you believe I would continue to carry on is such a manner?" Kithara had met few men that could wiggle their way out of this question...in reality there was no right answer and if the Count could infact, work his way out of this one, he'd have her respect at the very least.

"So," She tilted her head to the side, a half serious, half playful look in her eyes, "Which is it? Flattered or insulted?"

He laughed, softly but clearly, his rumble vibrating against her neck "You are a little tease Kithara. How can you kiss but not continue onwards?" He nibbled at her neck, and then her earlob, before exploring her mouth "You want me to answer truthfully Kithara? I want us to continue this. I'm excited. In fact.." He rubbed his hips against her and she could feel the hardness inside of those leather pants "I want for you, and would take you anywhere, even on this balcony, out here in the samheen cold. It would be short and sweet, and something neither of us would forget, ever again."

He laughed softly, shaking against her with contained laughter "But I freighten you Kit, I am sure. You seek reinsurances for what.. that I like you? .. that I truely want you? That I will be yours forever? What is it that you want to hear from me, Kit, my little tease.. you are hurting both of us." His amused chuckle rumbled again as he kissed her deeply.

Kithara laughed.

"Would you really? Take me out in the cold, here and now? You're insane. Charming, but insane." She crossed her legs and grinned. "Does that sort of statement normally work? Do woman sigh with pleasure when they hear that and simply throw themselves at you? I'm pretty sure they skip over the short and sweet part and immediatly think, 'Oh, he wants it to be unforgettable! He loves me!' And then, before you know it...wallah! ...And I am not a tease!" She ended with a grin.

She raised an eyebrow skeptically.

"I'm frightened? Really? Who says? And that's one of the most ridiculous notions I've heard all evening! That you'll be mine forever! What type of woman do you associate with? Hopeless romantics with half a brain? Confessions of love on the first night are things people read about in books...and that, on occasion, happen when some one's had a bit too much wine."

Quickly, she took a peek over his shoulder.

"And who's both of us? I'm not hurting me; of that you can be sure."

When he kissed her, she was tempted for a moment to simply let the kiss continue. But of course, no such thing happened and she pulled away earlier than usual.

'What's wrong with him? No. Wait. I know; he's over confident. Well, enoughs enough...'

With out a second thought she hopped off the railing.

"You've got to stop doing that." She crossed her arms across her chest, "You're getting yourself worked up when you're getting nothing in the end. Regardless of what type of flowery words you use."

Kit was still smiling and having fun. But if the Count wouldn't take no for an answer her good mood would dissapear...and fast.

Kithara tumbled off the railing, landing softly on the ground below. It was far from quiet in that dark place. From afar gardendoors were opening and there was another shadowy figure approaching her.

Guy leaned down on the railing, watching her, with a touch of changrine, yet he was man enough to give a ruefull smile, secretly amused at her deliberate resistance. "Your loss, milady, not mine." After all, he had plenty more to reap, while this had been Kithara's big gravetide... her chance to make a difference. "Be safe! I shall see you in on the morrow."

Without shame Guy climbed the vines to move to the next balcony.
