Pain was a peculiar thing, and those that were familiar with it knew the ways body reacted to such sensations. As Sarah discovered when Traverse laid her upon the floor, her injury was not as severe as it appeared at first, the initial surge of pain meant to shock her into moving out of harms way. Once the actual source of pain was removed the injury throbbed still, but the pain was much duller and quite bearable. The boy crawled closer swiftly after Rozz's order, kneeling next to Sarah and cradling her head in his lap, leaning closer and whispering softly. "Lady Kitya went mad. Killed them all. Said she will sacrifice me. Don't let her sacrifice me. Please." His eyes were on the pale form of the woman at the bottom of the stairs.

Kitya wove her spell frantically, noting how the sword-bearing fool once more wasted time on words, and would have laughed at Traverse's pathetic swipe had she not been busy with her spell. Another flare of searing heat shot from her chest, catching Rozz square on the chest, though the force of the impact was nowhere close enough to actually stop him, though he stumbled forward a step. Traverse found luck on his side that day, as his staff bounced off a small chair and instead of missing Kitya's ankle as she stepped away, caught her squarely upon the shin, the impact sending the nude sorceress sprawling upon the ground. Once more she screamed, though this time rage mixed with pain, Rozz's sword biting deep into her forearm, and lodging firmly in the bone, the woman's teeth digging into his ankle, as she desperately tugged to free her arm, though with each tug she seemed weaker, as blood pooled on the floor, a small trail finding its way to Traverse's cheek as he lay upon the floor, his eyesight improving a bit more, the half-giant now actually able to distinguish blurry figures in the dim light.

The flickers of time seemed to stretch out into whole burns as the scene unfolded to the young half giant, although the trickle of blood that touched his cheek brought back some reality to the whole affair.

It seemed that luck was on their side, well for the moment at least, and the witches concentration was broken for the moment. To make matters better his eye sight seemed to be improving and he could make out some blurry images now. It seemed that Rozz had succeeded, to a point, but that this witch was still fighting like a wild cat.

Traverse dragged himself to his feet, and grabbed the witch by the back of her neck, using his not inconsiderable strength to drag her off rozz, before shaking her like a rag doll.

"Enough" he bellowed. Clamping a massive paw over her biting mouth, quite prepared for the pain of her attempting to bite his hand.

"Sarah, Rozz you have something gag her? No speak, no spell. Then we get to bottom of what in hell is going here." The young half giant was pretty annoyed at this point in time, and it took a fair amount of control not to simply shake the naked woman in his massive hand to death.

The flare that exploded upon the soldier's chest burnt like hell, but a feeling of joy overpowered the pain as Rozz's sword pierced through flesh and bone of the witch that now had a name. Kitya, she was the one the achadhiel was supposed to be guarding, not fighting! Things were definetly not in their right standing today, but she seemed contained enough for them to get answers when Traverse grabbed her.

Rozz wasted no time in taking off his bloody, burned shirt to stuff in her mouth until he could fine a better gag for her. He balled up the torso part to put in her mouth, then he would then use his sleeves to tie around her head to secure it.

It was at that moment that the achadhiel noticed he had been hit with a flare. It burned and smelled like ashed cloth and meat. Rozz thought of Sarah and how bad she had been hit. With the witch contained by Traverse and a gag in her mouth, the achadhiel put his anger aside for a moment and joined the boy and his new friend.
"How is she doing? Sarah, are you ok?" He spoke to them both as he kneeled down beside her nudged her shoulders.

After the first surge of pain and the shock of it all, Sarah felt the wound dull. It still did a bit of throbbing, of course, but that was to be expected. She lay still for a moment on the floor now, to make sure she was truly fit to stand. When the boy spoke, the young lady sat up, removing her head from his lap. He filled in a couple of the blanks to this horror story, but he still seemed rather frightened....and, considering the circumstances, who wouldn't be?

"Do not fear" Sarah whispered, "We shall not allow Lady Kitya to sacrifice you" After all, the half-giant and military man were quite effecient.

They seemed even more so a moment later, when Rozz made a well placed blow that seemed to distract the crazed woman, at least long enought for Traverse to clamp a huge hand down upon her and hold her in place.

Rozz came over to her and the boy now. His rage seemed to fly away as he approached. When he asked of her well-being, she gave him a slight smile and spoke softly.

"As good as possible."

She kept the words short and simple. Her mastery of the tongue was not sufficient enough to tell him how she really felt, but it would do. Speaking again, Sarah asked Rozz a question this time.

"You look...." Sarah fumbled for the word, "Injured, is the pain bad?"

Of course, it didn't seem too terrible. The woman was confident she could have the man feeling at least a bit better in a short while. That, however, would have to wait until they dealt with this other evil, maniacle woman that was now before them.

As his companions conversed just to the side, the young half giant noticed a small omission. "Hmm, excuse me," he cleared his not insubstantial throat, attempting to gain their attention.

"Lady here bleeding. Rozz cut her deep. Maybe we stop bleeding, or she die. Then we get no answer." The one thing Traverse wanted was answers, oh and his sight back would be good!

If there was one thing that really ticked him off, it was someone he didn't even know trying to kill him, and on his first day on town and all!!!

The nude girl proved to be an easy prey for Traverse, the young half-giant lifting her up without any trouble, finding her amazingly light in his grip. She screamed once more as he dislodged Rozz's sword from her forearm by moving her, but it was soon muffled by his massive hand covering her mouth. Kitya tried to bite, and kicked at him with all her might, but there was very little strength left in her body. Still nude, the woman only had a strip of bandage wrapped around her chest, just bellow her breasts. A small dark stain marred the otherwise white surface of the bandage, though the way his vision swam, Traverse could not deduce what it was. His sight was returning slowly, though he still had trouble focusing on anything for more than a flicker or two. A slick smear of blood spread over his forearm, as the woman feebly tried to remove his hand from her mouth, moaning and grunting with the effort, seemingly growing weaker with each passing flicker.

|Rozz found his shirt almost unscathed by the witch's spell, its front blackened by the flames, but nothing a decent washing would not remove. Tearing a strip of fabric from its bottom was much easier than removing the entire shirt and bunching it in such a way as to gag a struggling woman, even with his injured hand. Her attempt to scream and bite enabled Rozz to stuff the gag in her mouth without too much trouble, even though she scratched at his and Traverse's hands.

The boy had recovered somewhat when the mad woman was overpowered, sitting up straight and looking around with obvious curiosity. Should Sarah seek to examine Rozz's chest, she would find it slightly reddened and a bit warm to the touch, but otherwise unharmed. The same applied to her back, the flare used on them apparently having little actual power. It was after almost a burn that the boy tugged at her shirt, seeking o draw her attention. "Miss. Maria is up there. Lady Kitya wanted to sacrifice her too. Do you think she is alright?" At the mention of Kitya, his eyes went to the struggling woman, whose arm was bleeding profusely, and had the lighting been better, the ashen color her skin was slowly taking would have been visible. The arm hung limply at her side, her swaying with her motions.

Having not received a reply, and with the woman in his arms clearly failing by the flicker, Traverse took matters into his own hands, so to speak.

He torn a thin strip off his shirt, the linen fairly clean, and wrapped it tightly around where he deduced the blood was streaming from. It was all abit messy and he probably ended up overing a lot more of her arm than he really intended.

He recalled from somewhere that pressure was needed to stop bleeding, so he pulled the makeshift bandage tight, hoping enough pressure would slow the bleeding at least.

There was something wrong here as well, this young woman in his arms might be a mad witch, but it seemed she was in as bad a way as they were. He was holding her up, as much as he was, so he continued to do so, now also cradling her in his arms as her strength seemed to ebb further.

Rozz shrugged off Sarah's question about his chest. It wasn't really that bad, and all the adrenaline rushing through his body at that time over shadowed any insignificant feelings such as the flare that was cast at him.

The achadhiel could hear Traverse talk about the woman bleeding in the background, and as angry as he was at her, with a severe inference, he was willing to help her, because he wanted answers as to what was going on in this terrible place.

Rozz got up once he had confirmation that Sarah was not incapacitated and marched over to Traverse and his contained, but bleeding, prisoner. He looked at her wound and said to Traverse. "If we could find a short thin stick, we could use it to tighten the tourniquette to stop the bleeding..."

He looked around them for anything that could possibly work. There was so much going on at that moment, that his mind seemed ready to explode, but the wounded had to be cared for, friend or foe.

Sarah looked to the boy with interest upon hearing that another may be alive. Of course, the adhiel had no idea who Maria was, but she didn't believe 'Maria' would be any danger. The woman looked to this boy now, adding a few words of comfort.

"Don't worry. Nobody is going to be sacrificed. I will go and check on Maria. Everything will be alright."

She said it in a soft, comforting voice, even managing a bit of a smile to make the child feel better. He looked to Rozz and Traverse, who seemed to be figuring out what to do with this Kitya figure. The half-giant had her under control, and the military man seemed to be thinking of a way to lend a little aid to the sorceress, so that they might learn some answers.

Knowing this, Sarah took her lamp just to the stairs, so that it shone up above, but still provided light down below. Taking a step up, she knew she would rely on her vision, that was honed a bit more than a human's. Looking back, she called out.

"Rozz, Traverse, could you look after the young man? There may be someone alive that needs our help."

Taking a couple more steps up the stairs, the woman gave one more look to the boy, and the sorceress, to make sure she hadn't gone any place. Then she started up again.

There was very little chance of Kitya going anywhere, the woman slumping down quickly, not fighting Traverse's grip anymore. Moaning softly as the bandage was tightened over her wound, she did not stir anymore, and while the bleeding was slowed, it was far from being contained. The search for the stick did not reveal anything useful, especially since the half-giant's vision was still not completely recovered. The boy crawled closer to Kitya's prone form and dropped a large iron nail next to her body, scrambling away, leaving the two men to take care of the wounded woman, though he looked at them intently.

With sufficient light and some care, Sarah made her way upward, passing the trap that had cost Rozz a finger, and coming upon two more contraptions meant to injure if not kill the unwary. It seemed Kitya spared no expense in setting up her traps, if indeed it was Kitya that did it, remains of a pearl necklace spread over the floor, waiting for someone to step on them and lose balance. The other trap was much more dangerous, though also unlikely to kill, a knife poised on the top of the door, falling down once it was pushed open, sticking into the floor bellow.

In the end it was the door just round the corner that hid another living soul, in what might have been a bedroom once. The bed was gone for the most part only the poles holding the canopy remaining and on the floor between them lay a young woman of perhaps thirty yahren, naked as the day she was born, limbs spread aside, her ankles and wrists tied to the poles. A labyrinth of arcane symbols was drawn around her body, the woman laying in the middle of a circle of them. She gasped and started squirming as she heard Sarah approach, tugging at the binds wildly, mumbling through the gag in her mouth.

Kitya's struggles slowed, and indeed seemed to cease in the half giants large hands, as the loss of blood continued, albeit at a slower rate. Even thought Traverse was no healer, even he appreciated that if she continued to bleed like this, she wouldn't last long. Loosing one hand, he wrapped his large hand around the small upper arm of the woman in his clutches, and provided a manual tourniquet. It would last long, but it was better than nothing.

At that stage the young boy dropped something near him and Kitya, and although Traverse couldn't be sure, it looked like a large nail.

Looking at the boy, Traverse spoke "Oi, what that for boy? Why you drop nail? Some sort of Magic?"

As an aside to Rozz, Traverse managed "Maybe some wood bits near door, from explosion."

Once Sarah had made it up the stairs, she saw once again the cursed trap that had caused Rozz so much pain. She carefully made her way around it, coming to yet another trap. Although nothing fancy, pearls seemed to be spread across the ground. The adhiel might have pocketed some, if not for the fact that she had seen the magick Kitya was capable of, and had no idea what the 'pearls' would do if stepped on. Making her way around them, the woman then spied a dagger at the top of a door, poised to fall, which would be easy to get rid of... if needed.

It was then that Sarah heard the slight gasp, and came upon the room that held another alive. She tentatively nudged open the door, and, once inside, Sarah looked upon the bound woman. Adhiel came to the conclusion that the bound soul thought she was Kitya. Wanting to be sure of who the woman was, Sarah ungagged her, but left her bound. She waited for the elder to catch her breath.

The boy kept away, staring at Traverse but after a few flickers he shuffled closer and picked the nail up, pushing it through the cloth wrapped around Kitya's arm and twisted. "Don't need wood, mister. Use the nail. It is stronger." Casting a wary glance at the unconscious woman's face, he moved his hands to hold the cloth in place, his eyes looking at the half-giant expectantly, saying nothing more. The woman did not stir anymore, her chest moving just barely, the bandage about her torso the only thing covering her nudity.

Compared to Sarah the woman could definitely be considered an elder, despite her being barely past thirty yahren. Her teeth snapped at the healer's hand, missing her fingers just barely, a shriek of rage filling the room. "You bitch. Free me now or I'l......" Suddenly, her eyes landed on Sarah and just as her body calmed, her voice dropped to a whisper. Several flickers passed as woman blinked, before speaking. "You're.... You're not Lady Kitya. Who..... Who are you?" Then almost hastily she added. "Quick. Free me. She could be back any flicker." She started squirming once more, tugging at the ropes, looking at Sarah with pleading eyes.

Rozz reached for the nail that the boy had dropped and attempted to use it to tighten the tourniquette around the wound as tight as he could. He looked back at the boy and said quietly. "Thank you, boy. What is your name?"

Just then he could hear someone yell out a profanity upstairs. The sound was muffled, but enough to make the achadhiel think Sarah was in trouble. He reached for his sword again, which still had kitya's blood drying on it and made his way for the strairs. He turned back to traverse and the boy and informed them. "I'll be back, if you have a problem, just yell for me!" With that he marched up the strairs but took care to not fall for any traps.

"Sarah! I'm coming!" He yelled in her direction.

Traverse felt a bit thick, of course the nail would do the trick, all this magic was addling the young half giants brain. But Rozz beat him too it, so he release the pressure from his han as the tourniquet took effect.

He nodded to the boy, "Thanks lad, I not thinking very well." Jus then he heard someone curse up stairs, and before he could say be careful Rozz was off. Traverse took over holding the tourniquet tight, tucking the nail into the twist of his shirt to hold it firm.

He looked at the young boy again. "Sorry. My name Traverse. Who you be?" He waited with some trepidation, Kitya weak in his arms. It seemed every time they dashed off, one of them ended up injured.

When Sarah came upon the struggling form, it was evident that she wanted free, badly. The adhiel really couldn't blame her, if she was in this womans position, she would feel the same way. Of course, the young one had noticed the arcane symbols, circling around the elders body. Sarah didn't understand a word of them, and at the moment, she didn't really want to.

When the gag left her mouth, fingers were snapped at, and adhiel had to move her fingers back in a hurry. Profanity was spewed, but Sarah let the bound one play out her rage for a moment, finally realizing it was not this Lady Kitya. When the request came to let her free, the young one looked at her elder for a moment...but it did not seem likely she was in cohorts with the sorceress, especially after what had just happened.

Sarah undid the bindings, one after the other, and waited while the other woman worked some feeling back into her wrists and ankles. She thought she heard a shout from Rozz, but couldn't be sure. They could soon get out of here.

The half-giant's gentle manner hand the boy edging closer to Traverse, clutching his forearm as the scream came from upstairs. With Rozz gone, the boy whimpered for a few flickers before whispering against the half-giant's arm. "I'm Joseph. I help in the kitchen." Then turning to stare wide-eyed at Traverse he added. "I liked to work here. Why did Lady Kitya have to kill everyone? Why did she want to sacrifice Maria and me, mister?" He paused, holding a bit tighter. "You won't let her sacrifice me, will you?" He glanced at the pale woman in front of them. "Do you think she will die?"

The woman upstairs did not squirm anymore as Sarah set her free, sitting up and rubbing her wrists, wincing as blood rushed back to her joints. "Thank you." Glancing over the girl's shoulder she added in a low whisper. "We need to get out of here. Lady Kitya could be back any burn." Then a shadow filled the doorway and the woman pushed Sarah out of the way, grabbing a rather large piece of wood left over from the bed and threw it towards the shadow. Desperation or skill it mattered not, as two pounds of wood slammed into Rozz's chest, knocking the wind out of him, while the woman rose and picked an impromptu club from the floor. "I'll teach you to kill people, bitch." She moved swiftly to the prone figure, clutching a sword, the bandage around the figure's finger visible.

Traverse watched as the boy edged closer, before rumbling almost to himself, "Hello Joseph," sounding the young lads name out, almost trying it for size as he wrapped his limited, but growing language skills around a new name.

He managed a sort of half smile, about all he could muster in the circumstances, at the boys question. "No, I not let her sacrifice you," and almost as an afterthought, "or Maria, if I can."

"Will lady die? I not sure." The half giant gave Kitya a look, not of anger anymore, but a rather querying look. "Why she kill everyone? I not know. Maybe she get better, we ask her, yes?" Traverse looked at Joseph again, that half smile still on his craggy face.

A thought came to his head at that stage. "You know house, yes? Where we find some water?" Traverse wanted to clean up Kitya's wound, but also try and get some fluid into her, it probably wouldn't do himself or Joseph any harm either.

At about that stage a ruckus erupted upstairs agin. By the Red Warrior, what has Rozz got into now! Traverse was torn, he wanted to help Rozz and Sarah, but he was needed here.

Eventually common sense, of a sort, won out. He was still half blind, so he was of little help to the others, better to achieve what he could down here, and trust to his companions own skills to recover the situation upstairs.

Ooph!! The sound wind forcing it's way out of the achadiel's lungs as the object slammed into him forcing him to his knee's. When he heard a woman's voice threaten him and call him bitch, Rozz attempted to hault her.

"H-*hack* Hey wait!" He managed to spit out, with coughing and wheezing in the mix. "*hack* Sarah! Are you *hack* hurt!" He yelled out clutching his chest and while picking up his sword to hold up as a shield form the woman who misunderstood the situation.

The woman acted quickly, Sarah soon came to realize, as she learned of Rozz's approach. The elvin woman's shock was complete when her elder hurled a sizable hung of wood at the young man, then charged in with an improvised club.

If the situation were any lighter, Sarah might think it amusing that Rozz was asking if she was okay, between coughs. Rozz had been taken by surprise, however, and from the other woman's swift movements, the militant would be hard pressed indeed to defend himself. The adhiel knew she had to intervene.

"Hold!" yelled Sarah in quite a forceful voice, which amazed even the speaker, "He is not Kitya, and certainly no enemy to us."

The explanation that Rozz was not against them was stated firmly, in the hopes that this older one would halt all hostility, and they could begin to sort out what transpired.

Sarah's warning came too late, the club crashing down upon Rozz's shoulder, glancing off the bone and thumping against the floor as the women dropped it and covered her mouth with hands. Glancing at the young healer and then at the Imperial Guardsman before her, reaching a tentative hand for his shoulder. "I'm.... I'm sorry. I thought you were her. Are... are you alright? Did... did....did I hurt you?" She reached to help him up, seemingly oblivious to her own nudity, or the fact that she had just whacked him twice with large chunks of wood.

The boy relaxed as time passed, his eyes focused on the half-giant before him, not longer twitching nervously at every sound. Scrambling to his feet quickly he nodded at Traverse's request and motioned towards the door they were at just before Joseph interrupted them. With a swift glance towards the stairs he rushed through it and emerged back out, dragging a bucket behind him, dropping it down, water sloshing loudly, and making a wet stain upon the floor.

As the bucket hit the floor, Traverse nodded at the lad. "Thanks Joseph, you need drink too." The young half giant nodded towards the water.

Now how to get some water into the woman without drowning her along the way. Traverse sighed, before tearing another strip from his linen shirt, such a nice shirt to be tearing up!

Dipping the strip of linen into the bucket, Traverse firstly wet Kitya's lips, then slowly squeezed the linen, allowing a few drips at a time to run into her mouth.

Again, a strip of his shirt was torn loose and dipped into the water, but this time the strip of linen was used to clean the wound. Stop, drip some more water into her mouth, wash the wound, drip water, Traverse got himself into a rhythm and continued to work, waiting for some response from the woman in his arms.

Argh!! The achadiel grunted as his sword clanked back onto the floor after his shoulder was struck by the hostile woman. He had heard how Sarah tried to stop her, but seeing the situation as being different on account of this woman being traumatized, Rozz looked passed the fact that he was being beaten...

"Oh...*hack* It's ok... Seriously!... I'm not hurt... *hack* You barely nicked me...*cough cough* My name is Rozz! You're safe... now!" He knew very well that he would dam,n near need to be put in a body cast, but wanting to lighten the ever dark mood, he fibbed abit... Rozz held his shoulder and used the wall to hoist himself up. The wind was starting to recharge in his lungs, but the pain on his shoulder throbbed.

He looked at the nude woman then back at Sarah and said, as he stood against the wall. "So... Now that I have received a warm greeting up here... shall we get out of this bloody house?" He looked back at the nude woman and said, staring at the ceiling and walls as to not be rude. "Do you have anything to cover up with? The draft in here is vicious..." Rozz rubbed his hand on his shoulder once more as he bent over and picked up his sword.

OOC; I think we ought to wrap this up and move onto the Chyril. Let's not dawdle too much.

Joseph nodded silently, finding Traverse's calmness soothing and following the half-giant's lead silently. Leaning over the bucket the boy scooped a few handfuls of water and drank them greedily, wiping his lips with the back of a hand, sitting down and watching as Traverse moistened Kitya's lips. She stirred as he cleaned her wound, the blood still flowing freely, a healer's attention necessary if the girl was to have any chance of survival. Sighing and pursing her lips as drops of water touched them, she did not show any intention of waking up, having lost far too much blood for that to happen just now. Joseph hugged himself, shivering upon the floor, silently watching the gentle giant.

The woman would have none of it, slipping her shoulder under Rozz's arm and supporting his weight. Swiftly she bent down and picked the sword for him, pressing it into his hand and glancing at Sarah. "Come one. She'll be back any flicker. We need to get out. I hope Joseph made it out safely."

Traverse watched the girl slowly dieing, and he knew there was little he could do. Looking at Joseph, he rumbled to the lad, "I be calling Sarah now, no need to be afraid."

Looking up the stairs the giant bellowed up the stairs "Sarah. Need help." A flicker as he gather his breath again, "NOW!" The voice of the half giant rumbled up the stairs to where the other three currently debated the return of the very woman in Traverses arms, dieing as surely as he was still alive.
