Olivia immediately settled into her work and bid Eivlys and Amber a cheery farewell. Outside the little cottage, the wild winds whipped at their cloaks and hoods but by holding tight to them they was able to keep the weather from messing up her hair and clothes too badly.

Three guards were stationed in a small outhouse by the ornate wire gates that formed the main entrance to the Eventree estate. They were playing cards to pass the time when Eivlys showed up.

"Whey! If it isn't Miss Eivlys! How ya doin', sweetheart?"

Eivlys recognised the man who spoke as one of the guards stationed outside the vault where Amos kept the dragon's egg. He was a friendly enough fellow, a little rough, but he hadn't been as grabby as some of the others in searching her to make sure she had not taken anything of value out from the safe-room. One of the other men just smiled at her goofily. The last stood and offered her a slight bow.

Although he might not have been the kind to suit the swanmaiden's taste, by most womens' standards, Caleb was every bit the hunk that Olivia had promised. His features were chiseled and refined, softened a little by baby blue eyes and cherubic lips that often split into a devilish grin. His coppery locks were cut short and hung freely in gentle waves around his face. Beneath his light leather armour he had a broad-shouldered torso that tapered to a slender waist. Although its was not visible from where she stood, there was no possible way that the Gods would have failed to also endow him with a peachy butt.

"Good eveningtide, ma'am. Can we help you with anything?" he asked.

She smiled at Harrison, the guard who she would see nightly going to the egg. He was a polite man, and that went far in her book. “Hello, Harry, how is my favorite boyfriend tonight?” She asked him with a playful wink. “You boys keeping out of trouble?” She asked as she swayed her way up to them.

She liked men, there was smoothing handsome about a nice man, the broad chest. She liked Gwayne, and she liked Amber, both of them seemed to spark a king of feeling of admiration. There was something beautiful about them. Perhaps it was because she was not completely human herself she saw something lovely in all humans. Caleb was handsome by her standards, and would be by anyone’s she suspected.

She was staring, she should not be staring so she looked at Harry. “Who is this new lad you have here Harry?” She asked, she should not have been staring. She looked back and smiled, he had nice eyes. “Yes, I need a ride to the Slivered Moon, I will be singing there.”

The guard’s name was Henry, but seeing as Eivlys was both a pretty girl and a foreigner, he did not make an issue about the mispronunciation, grinning at her triumphantly instead.

“Yer favourite boyfrien’s winnin’,” he smirked, laying a royal flush out on the table and scraping his pile of copper winnings towards him. “’Ave a drink on me tonight.” He flipped one of the coins towards her.

“Better not let yer missus hear that, Henry,” the other guard snickered.

“I’ll buy her a bunch a roses and she ain’t gonna hear nothin’ with my fist in yer gob, Burt,” Henry replied complacently. “Now go find Miss Eivlys a cabbie.”

As the other guard disappeared, Henry began introducing Eivlys to his young colleague. “This here’s Caleb, and he ain’t exactly new. Why, I remember when him and Master Amos were just anklebiters! Troublemakers the both of them… one day, they took off all their clothes and- ”

“Ahem, I’m sure Miss Eivlys doesn’t want to hear any of that,” the swanmaiden’s new bodyguard interrupted him hurriedly. He turned earnest blue eyes on her. “I’m looking forward to hearing you sing, ma’am. Amos says you’ll be one of the best someday.”

He made pleasant small talk until the carriage arrived. Then he helped Eivlys inside and insisted on riding with the driver, despite the weather, keeping a watchful eye on their surroundings all the way to the Slivered Moon.

The Moon was a cramped, hole-in-the-wall kind of place, located in the attic of a loom-maker’s workshop in a small alley in the Tapestry Quarter. Very popular with the local arts scene, it was still almost unknown to anyone outside of it. It was a new venue, less than a month old, and could hold no more than twenty people at any one time. The walls were painted black but the furnishings and decorations were a riot of colour, all the fabric having been sourced from the discarded work of the local artisans. This potentially jarring effect was softened by the dim lighting of the room. The only bright part of the whole establishment was the crescent-shaped stage that gave the bar its name.

It was early in the eveningtide so by the time Eivlys and Caleb made their way there, the Moon was still not yet filled to capacity. There were only eleven people in the whole lounge, including the buxom blonde bartender, Renee, which made the handsome bodyguard relax considerably. It would be an easy job tonight.

He took up a seat at the tiny counter and made himself as unobtrusive as possible, leaving Eivlys to circulate as freely as she wished.

She smiled at Henry, and once his name was called she noted it in her mind. “I will keep this.” She told him and tucked into the front of her dress. “You should get your wife some roses, a woman always appreciates that.” She sighed. “I know Henry is only toying with my heart, and his true love is his wife, how can I compare to a woman who is willing to clean his undershorts?” She said with a laugh.

She turned to face Caleb as the story was started about him and Amos, she had to cover her mouth to stifle a giggle. She gave him a demure smile. “Lord Eventree is too kind. I hope I can return his investment in me. He is a as handsome as he is generous.” She told him.

She joined them in the small talk seeing what she could find out about this new guard. If he was so close to Amos, perhaps she could learn a bit more about him as well. It was slightly disappointing that he did not join her in the carriage, but she understood the man’s sense of duty. Gwayne was the same way, and it baffled her how men could see the world as a place of duty and not see the relationships that tied everyone together.

She saw her duty to those she was close to, to taking care of them and helping them. She was a part of a whole and needed to care for them as well as herself. Men seemed to thrive on sacrificing all they have for some greater good. Some sense of justice that at times was completely silly.

When they arrived at the club she did not let him slip away. She took his arm and led him around to introduce him to all the occupants, as well as introduce herself. It was a small crowd, and she hoped most of them came to see her. She meandered her way around the bar to end up in front of Renee. “Renee, this is Caleb, my escort for the night.” She introduced him. “Could we start the night off with some red wine?” She looked at Caleb to see what he was ordering. By the look of him she guessed he would order milk or something without spirits in it.

"I've just the drop for you, mon cherie. From the vineyards of my motherland, Roque Red, vintage 1220. Tell me what you think." As was her custom, after displaying and uncorking the bottle the bartender decanted a small amount of the rich red liquid into a glass goblet for Eivlys to taste and smell before she served her any further. Meanwhile she introduced herself to her lastest patron.

"Another new face tonight. Welcome to the Slivered Moon, Caleb." Renee beamed. Caleb smiled back at her and smoothly ordered a light dwarven lager, not at all bothered by Eivlys' insistence that he accompany her around the venue to meet all her friends. It made for a nice change - as Eivlys had learned earlier in the evening, he was used to fading into the background while attending Lord Eventree's social functions. In private the two men remained as close as brothers as they had been throughout their boyhoods, but in public they maintained a professional distance as befitted their differences in class.

As it turned out, at least half of the patrons at the club had come to see the swanmaiden's performance. The familiar faces of five of her friends beamed at her from the couches closest to the stage. They waved her over, squashing themselves to the sides to make room for her to sit in the middle of a sofa with Caleb, who attracted a few coyly admiring looks from the women, although no overt approaches were made towards him.

"So tell us Eivlys, what can we expect from your show tonight?" asked Brook, a dark-eyed woman from King's Court. She was a mandolin player, who had written a few songs with the Citadelian singer, and was eager to hear some of her work performed in public.

She took the glass and took a soft sniff of the wine. Her tastes were not as perfected as some of the others she had met, but she knew a good wine. She liked the flavor, not as bitter as usual reds, it was smoother and not so sweet to replace the bitterness, but a natural smooth from a fine grape. “This is wonderful, I will have a glass.” She said with a smile, and licked her lips setting the glass down.

She looked to Caleb. “An ale… you must try a glass of the wine as well.” Her eyes drifted back to Renee, the silver gaze beamed with delight. “Pour him a glass as well, he really should try this.” She picked up the glasses with her slender hands, cupping them tenderly, handing Caleb one with a graceful gesture.

She moved across the room with a soft step, waving her hand to her friends. She saw to it Caleb was seated next to Brook when she took her seat. She knew he was eye candy and in a way it made her happy. He was beautiful, and that was artistic in itself.

“Well, tonight I thought I would start with some classics, but then move on to some of our new stuff.” She told her as she drank some of the wine. “I want to show some of your new stuff off.” She patted Brook’s knee as she spoke. She mingled, shared some small talk while she finished her wine, then stepped up to the stage. She waited a moment for the noise to settle, then started to sing.

The songs she chose for the night were lyrical if a little sad. Most of them about love, lost and otherwise wronged. She sang in a minor cord so it was just a little more dark and brooding, with a lilting quality.

There weren't many people in the lounge, so Eivlys didn't have long to wait before the chatter died down. At first the bar was silent - all of the singer's friends continued to listen attentively, of course, but after a couple of songs a pair in the corner turned back to each other, treating her performance as little more than background music to their conversation.

"Ooooh, booboo bear, isn't this place the cutest?! You were sooo clever to find it!" Eivlys couldn't see the the speaker clearly in the dim light, but her squeaky whisper would render her clearly identifiable at a later point in time.

"Only the best for you... I'm glad you like it, honey bun," replied a deeper voice in a lazy drawl. "Hey, C'mere..."

A bit of giggling; then for several burns, wet, squelchy noises emanated from somewhere to the singer's left.

"Oooh, we musn't! Let's just watch the show. Isn't the singer the cutest?! But all her songs are so sad. Miss!!" Squeaky Voice finally ended her painful attempts to be subtle and simply called out over Eivlys' singing. "Why don't you sing something happier? Here!"

Something hit the stage with a clack. It rolled towards the singer and bumped softly against her foot - looking down she would see a silver coronet, gleaming as it caught the stage light.

She tried to ignore the rude audience members, but when the coin landed at her feet she stopped singing. She looked down at the silver and sighed. She could sing a happy song just as easily as something sad, if that is what they wanted. This was her show, however, should she let them tell her what she should sing.

Her mind weighed a third option.

She bent down and picked up the coin and smiled. “Thank you.” She spoke to the voice in the darkness. “Did you have a song in mind?” She asked stepping down from the stage and walking slowly, sauntering with her hips more or less. If they thought she was cute before, she was going to let them think of her as exquisite now. “It always makes me happy to see two people in love, do you have names?” She asked, moving the show from the stage to the main floor. She walked right up to the table of the two lovers. “Where are you two from? Out of town, or locals?” She asked, her voice smooth and still crooning slightly. She circled the table as she asked, drifting a finger along the shoulder and back of the man who was with her.

She slinked out of the spotlight, into the shadows, transforming into something altogether more enigmatic and elusive than the simple songstress baring her broken heart to the bar a few moments earlier. The man in her sights could hardly keep his eyes off her swinging hips as she circled around him. His tongue flicked out and he licked his deep red lips while his companion, who was perched on his lap, drew closer to him, glowering sullenly at Eivlys.

She was a slender young blonde; generically pretty with a size and build much like the swanmaiden's. He was dark-haired and a little older, around Caleb and Amos' age, and obviously belonged to the decadently wealthy upper class of the city. His rich doublet was finely tailored and a drop-shaped diamond swung from his right ear. He had the looks to match his clothing, although his large, dark eyes showed a tendency to bulge a little.

"My forefathers built this town," the dark man answered languidly. "Annais Mullendore," he introduced himself. His eyes followed Eivlys' fingers as they traced along his shoulder, then rose to look at her face. "And this is Emily. Did you have a song in mind my dear?" While he spoke, his gaze did not shift from the singer one bit.

Emily pouted. "I'm tired of this place. Let's go somewhere else," she whined petulantly. Annais didn't bat an eyelid.

"Whatever milady wishes. I'm afraid we shall be leaving early. But I simply must find out madame," he said to Eivlys, "how should I contact you, if I wished to hire your services for a... private engagement?"

She smiled at them both and arched a delicate brow. “Private, well, if you speak to the woman at the bar, she will see that any messages, or gifts will be carried my way on the wings of little birds.” She drug a nail over his ear and around under his chin as she spoke. “I would hate for you both to leave, please, shall I sing a song of love for you both.” She looked at the woman in his lap.

“You are so very lucky sir, to have a woman of such obvious beauty and character spending her time with you.” She floated around to the opposite side of the table and took a pose that was most flattering of herself, her legs slightly crossed and turned just so to give her a more curvy figure than normal. “I know just the song.”

He looked to the group of friends. “Brook, could you play me that new song, the one about the cats?” She asked in a lyrical tone. She had not planned on performing it, it was a little racy, but it would be fun.

Once the tune started she started to sing, shaking her hips slightly to the rythem.

“Ahhhhhhh… “ She started out with a nice deep tone, moving up into her normal range. She wanted to keep this still in the minor cord, with some sultriness to her voice.

“We move like cagey tigers
We couldn't get closer than this
The way we walk
The way we talk” She started to move around the room, around the tables moving like a cat, slinking and sliding, moving up behind the man and the woman, leaning down to his ear as she sang.
“The way we stalk
The way we kiss” She slipped away and started walking to Caleb as she sang. Looking at the other occupants of the room.
“We slip through the streets
While everyone sleeps
Getting bigger and sleeker
And wider and brighter
We bite and scratch and scream all night
Let's go and throw
All the songs we know...”

She sang the song, moving and dancing like a cat, the song a little more upbeat then before. She took full advantage of being off the stage. She moved through the audience, taking the time to sing to almost each person individually, she wanted them all to feel as if she was singing for them and them alone, particularly Caleb.

With a wicked smile, Brooke readied her instrument, gently plucking the strings to ensure they were all in tune. Schadenfreude was a most unbecoming emotion, but after the disrespect shown to her friend's performance, that hussy deserved the public humiliation she got. Remember: Happy the mandolin player reminded herself, and began to play in a light, grooving rhythm.

Swiftly, the mood in the lounge turned from scandalised to playful. Someone began clapping and soon the entire room had joined in, whooping and keeping time with the beat. By now the Moon was filling up further, the regulars joined by some newcomers, curious to see what the noise was all about.

No-one really took notice when Emily stormed out with her distracted paramour in tow, or when Amos and another young lady slipped in to claim the table they had vacated. For now, all eyes were on Eivlys, her audience lapping up each new shimmy and songline. Caleb in particular seemed to be enjoying himself - it seemed "racy" was more to his taste than "heartbreaking" - and his devilish grin was out in full force as he winked at the swanmaiden when she swayed past.

She smiled at Brook and shrugged, she guessed she would change the tone of her concert tonight. “I am glad to see you all out tonight, and please do not forget to tip the fine servers here.” She said with a wink to the barmaid. “I would also like to thank my good friend Brook who is playing for me tonight.” She made a sweeping motion to Brook who sat just off the stage with her friends and then blew her a kiss.

She started to sing again. This song was very up beat, and she dances quickly, her hips swaying and popping from time to time. Her hands lifting over her head to accent her figure.

“I never thought that I could be so sat-is-fied
Every time that I look in your angel eyes”
She moved by Amos and cupped his chin looking into his eyes as she sang. Slowly making her way to the stage to dance a little more.

“A shock inside me that words just can’t des-cribe
And there’s no ex-plain-ing

Something in the way you move I can’t deny
Every word from your lips is a lul-laby
A twist of fate makes life worth--while
You are gold and silver" She let the last note hang for a moment.

"I said I wasn’t gonna lose my head
But then pop! Goes my heart...”

She planned to sing a few more songs, flirty and light ones. Aiming for the fun and even mystical if she could. After a few more songs she would take a break to rest her voice and get a glass of water to quench her thirst.

Some time after her fact finding mission at the Complaints Office, Amber finally found herself standing outside the Silvered Moon. She had returned to Eivlys' place. Obviously, the Swanmaiden was no longer there, so she asked the guards if they knew where she had been planning on going. After getting the answer from them, she hoofed it to the small, hole-in-the-wall place. She didn't know what time it was now, and she hoped that she hadn't missed her friend.

When she went upstairs and stepped inside, she immediately knew she hadn't, for the first thing that caught her attention was the familiar, but oh so beautiful voice of the Swanmaiden. She managed to step inside and close the door quietly behind her before she fell under the spell of the woman's song, and simply stood there, staring and listening with every ounce of her attention.

Gods, but Eivlys was so beautiful, she thought. How such a creature could deign to even smile at a rough-and-tumble farmgirl like herself was beyond her, but she was so thankful that she had. She felt a familiar little thrill run through her body as she watched the Swanmaiden's swaying hips and lithe form. So beautiful...

She saw Amber enter, and gave a warm smile and a playful wink. She wanted to rush over and kiss her, but she was working. She did drift through the audience and sang to her. She smiled as she sang and lifted a lazy finger to drag up Ambers neck and to her chin. She sang the song with a easy tone, and a slow beat, a love song where the woman was talking about how her lover made her feel when touched.

“Tough me gently, like the pulling me in
I feel your touch and I go under
Loving the undertow I am in”

She was singing to Amber, in her heart. She turned and continued, she could not forget the rest of the crowd. She swayed and slinked back to the stage in time to finish the song, and gave a small bow. “I am going to take a short break, but I will be back for my last set in a moment.”

She stepped down from the stage and cross the room with one intent, and this was to kiss her lover. She reached out to embrace Amber and kiss her soundly, then take her to meet her friends.

She saw Eivlys smiling and winking at her, and she felt her lips curving upward in a return smile. It must have been a very foolish looking smile, she thought vaguely, distantly, full of young affection and a barely understood eagerness as it was, but she didn't care. All that mattered right now was the Swanmaiden, and the gaze she was directing toward the farmgirl. Her eyes never left Eivlys' as the other woman approached, and even when the touch of her finger on the sensitive skin of her neck made her want to faint, she didn't look away. A thrill, stronger than ever before ran through her, and she felt her skin suddenly getting hot.

The song was beautiful, still, but Amber knew - from the look in Eivlys' eyes, if nothing else - that at least this part of it was directed to her. The emotions and desires that were awakened by those words were incredible, and she could feel herself start to tremble even as the Swanmaiden glided sensually back to the stage.

When Eivlys returned, kissing her deeply on the lips, Amber was momentarily shocked that she would display such affection in public. But the thought was very, very short-lived, and she melted into the kiss willingly, returning it with equal passion, not caring who might be watching. "Good evening to you, too," she murmured as the kiss was finally broken, her lips quirking into her familiar grin.

She smiled pulling away from the kiss and taking hold of Amber’s hands. “I am glad you made it.” She turned looking at her friends all sitting in their booth. “Come, you can meet some of my friends.” She pulled her along behind her as she wove through the patrons and tables, giving them each a smile and small hello, that was all their own. She made eye contact with each person she passed and whispered a sweet hello that was somehow different each time, “Hello,” “Evening to both of you,” “Pleasant night, isn’t it…”

Finally she reached the booth where everyone was sitting and she slipped in next to Caleb, with Amber on her other side. “Amber, this is everyone, everyone, this is Amber, the girl I told you about.” She introduced each person , reaching out to touch their hands or place her hand on their knee. She said a little about them, such as “This is Brook, she is my perfectly wonderful song writer. She is wonderful.” She touched the hand of a dark adhiel who placed his other hand on hers. “Hinovor, a poet and you must hear him read, when will you be doing a reading again, you must tell me so she can hear.” She clasped the hand of a female Halfling, “Kori, she is my inspiration in dancing, really, you must dance tonight with me.” She smiled and leaned across the table to kiss the cheek of an older human man. “Stine, I am so glad you could be here, Amber, he is an actor and rarely has his nights free this early.” She reached over Caleb to touch the cheek of a female adhiel. “And Ielenna, she plays my music, if you could not tell.” She smiled and put her hand on Caleb’s thigh to see if there was a reaction. “And last, Caleb, my loyal escort for the night compliments of Lord Eventree.”

She turned to Amber. “So, you must tell me how it went. What happened at the office?” her silvery eyes had a look of worry in them but she covered it well with her bright smile.

Amber allowed herself to be led along by Eivlys, over to the booth where all of her friends were seated. She smiled brightly at them as they were each introduced, and nodded politely. "Pleased to meet all of you," she said shyly. She wasn't very good around new people, especially when there were so many of them at once. She'd hoped to get some time alone with Eivlys, but that probably wasn't going to happen until they returned to her house. Well, that would happen soon enough, she supposed.

She let her thoughts go and turned back to Eivlys as the Swanmaiden spoke directly to her. "Oh, it went just fine," she replied. "All I did was go in and ask a few questions to get some information. Nothing exciting... I mean, dangerous," she added quickly, catching the hint of worry in the other woman's eyes. "I don't think I'll be going anywhere until tomorrow at some point."

OOC: so sorry i missed you guys last posting round

The performance was well received by everyone, even Amos' companion who clapped her hand over her mouth, laughing as the young merchantlord tried not to look too shocked, caught off guard by Eivly's sudden attention. There were a few groans of disappointment when the swanmaiden finished her set. More than one set of eyes followed to watch her enthusiastic greeting of Amber, and someone even whistled when they kissed, but soon enough the audience all turned back to their own affairs.

There was a shuffling as Eivlys' bardic friends rearranged themselves to make room for Amber. One by one they nodded and smiled as Eivlys introduced them. If Caleb even noticed Eivlys' hand on his leg he showed no sign of it on his face. He did shift around in his seat, however, causing her hand to ride up just a little higher.

The bodyguard's eyebrow rose a touch at Amber's cryptic description of her evening's activities, but it was Hinovor who came out and asked the question. "Dangerous? Now you arouse my curiosity, Amber. What sort of work has our fair Eivlys tempted you away from?"

Amber blushed a little bit and looked back at Eivlys, once again drinking in her beauty, unable to keep her eyes off the other woman. "Oh, I am sure that she could tempt me away from any sort of work at all," she murmured.

She hesitated a bit. Her instinct was to tell these people what she was doing; after all, they seemed like good people, and didn't think she had anything to fear from them, especially since Eivlys seemed to like and trust them very much. But something inside her warned her to be cautious, to not say too much. But Amber was young, and excited, and not very experienced in matters like this, so her instinct won out.

"I have heard some of the stories of the crime that has been taking place in Dort," she started off. "About the Waterstreet gang and others like them. I decided that since I'm going to be staying here with Eivlys for awhile, I should get a job. And I'm not very good at singing or dancing," she added with a laugh. "But I had some experience in the fighting over by Hafne, and I'm fairly decent with a blade, so I thought maybe I would try to bring some of these criminals to justice. I don't really care how much it pays, I just want something that will keep me interested. Not that Eivlys isn't interesting!" she added quickly, leaning over to rest her cheek affectionately on the Swanmaiden's shoulder. "But I would feel bad to take advantage of her hospitality when I have a chance to earn my own money and do my share."

That, and she didn't want to be sitting around bored all day while the Swanmaiden slept, but she didn't know if these people knew her secret or not, so she kept quiet about that.

Her hand stayed where it was on the young man’s thigh as her other hand settled on the table to secure a cup of wine for her drinking. “No, I am terribly boring during the day, it is at night that I am in full bloom.” She told her friends with a wave of her hand. “Although I will worry half to death over her. I would hate any of those I love to be in danger.”

She sat back in her place pouting a little. “Caleb, you are a fighter of sorts, have you ever been close to death?” She asked him. “Are you free during the day? Perhaps you could help Amber, two sets of eyes are surely better then just one?” She lifted her hand from her wine and patted Amber's cheek as her head rested on her shoulder.

She knew she did not have long before she would need to stand up and do a last set for the night.

"Close to death? No, I've been in a tight spot or two but no man has come close to scoring a grievous wound on me yet." Caleb patted his knife sheath, casually, with a dismissive shake of his head before answering the rest of Eivlys' questions. "What I do during the day is up to Amos..."

The copper-haired guard shrugged said no more, knowing better than to announce his employer's business in public. Bards could be notorious gossips, and there was no telling what would happen if any of his words fell into the wrong ears. Indeed, Eivlys' friends were maintaining a curious silence, simply waiting to see how the rest of this conversation would play out.

The pale haired woman laughed softly and patted his thigh. “Seems what you do in the night is up to him as well. You do not seem to comfortable here.” She smiled at her friends who all seemed to be listening intently. “I guess you are good at what you do Caleb, to have never had any close calls. Is that normal, or the exception?”

Her silvery eyes went to Amber this time. She smiled, but the concern was there. She would not be able to watch over her during the day. She could not help her out if there was trouble. “Of course, I am sure Amber is quite the capable fighter as well. I am sure it always helps to have someone to watch your back, however, does it not, dear?” She did not wish to insult her lover, but she did not want to see her get killed either.

When she finished her last set she bowed to the audience. She blew them kisses. “Thank you all for coming, and I hope you all have a good night.” She said from the stage, then stepped off, walking to the table where Caleb and Amber were. “Well, I need to get home, you are all welcome to come if you wish. I think I have wine and some food.”

The night was still young, and she lived to be in the night. She knew most of them might need sleep, but she did her sleeping in the daylight hours, as a swan. “So what do you say? Back to my place for drinks?” She smiled at Amber. “Should we go home, dear?”

Amber listened with quiet appreciation of Eivlys' skills as the Swanmaiden sang her last set to the people gathered. She smiled affectionately back at her as she came back to their table. She was tired - it had been a long day - but she relished the chance to spend some time with her, even if there were perhaps others present as well.

"That sounds like a good plan to me," Amber replied. She stood and made way for the others to leave the table as well, should they wish. "Ready when you are."

Caleb shrugged and attempted to appear modest, but he made a bad job of it, the confident, almost smug smile on his face giving him away. "I am good at what I do, m'Lady." He looked at her listening friends, his charming, polite smile firmly in place as they listened in. "I am comfortable most everywhere, really. I am, however, technically on duty." He winked and subsided to enjoy the rest of the swanmaiden's performance.

Once she had finished her singing for the evening, Caleb stood and waited as Eivlys and Amber discussed their plans for the evening. Eivlys' friends chattered and gossiped happily about her performance, arguing about which songs they had liked best and who in the audience had appeared the most appreciative. In the end however, they finally made their farewells, drifting off for their own evening's entertainment.

Caleb stood by patiently, eyes still scanning the crowd, alert despite his relaxed posture. "Shall I escort you and your companion home then, m'lady?"
