Amber grunted as she hit the wall, and it was with a dim sense of surprise that she realized she barely felt the impact. Even the kick hardly bothered her at all. The sensation flowing through her made her heady, but even so, her brain was screaming at her that something was different about herself. But she didn't let it bother her. She couldn't. She was fighting for her life.

Even as Spyre moved in and launched his attack, Amber was already moving to avoid it. But that wasn't all she planned to do. She needed to return the attack. She needed to finish this threat as soon as possible.

As he slashed at her neck with his right hand - coming from her left side - she leaned back as far as she could, her lithe and agile form hopefully allowing her to keep her balance as she leaned back further than most women could. If she avoided the blow, she would turn the dodge into an attack, spinning to her right in a three hundred sixty degree turn that brought her knife hand - her right - streaking in from his right. She'd have her back turned to him as the blade sank into his side - if the attack connected - but only for a split second, for she would slide her blade back out and continue her spin, carrying herself off to his right and hopefully out of arm's reach to assess the effectiveness of her attack.

The tip of Spyre's stiletto grazed against her neck, barely not touching it. Whatever sort of peach-fuzz there might have been on her lower neck, received quite a close shave. Like an acrobat, she leaned back and arced like a rainbow. Vaughn's jaw dropped at the speed and grace of both fighters. He wasn't expecting Amber to hold her own so well against a nefarious opponent such as Niel Spyre.

As she spun to her right, Niel saw her move coming- however he didn't have time to calculate, and he clumsily jumped back, receiving a slice in his leather armor, and even a shallow cut on his skin beneath. Amber was doing well, in fact they seemed fearfully even in skill and speed. Quickly after his dodge, he raised both hands up to his face, grunted and quickly unleashed several blows toward Amber. Before each incoming attack, her mind pulsed and screamed at her to react, like a voice in her ear.

He tucked the knife into his belt and he thrusted a punch from the left towards her face move!,
immediately followed by a jab with his right palm towards her stomach block!.
His right hand fluidly fell and rose back up for an uppercut to her chin move!,
and he raised his knee to kick her in the side block!.
He then turned in a circular motion, 360 degrees and pulled out his dagger, again moving fluidly and skillfully, and his aim for this final thrust was her heart. move!

This attempt at a barrage took place in the course of only four or five flickers, but that time seemed doubled to Amber.

Amber instinctively knew that her attack had drawn blood - besides the fact that she could see crimson staining the edge of the stiletto - but she also knew that it hadn't caused nearly enough damage to slow him down by itself. Death by a thousand small cuts wasn't exactly the way she wanted to defeat Spyre, so she knew she'd have to make her next attack count.

Before she could begin such an attack, however, Spyre took the offensive. She had fully slipped into the rhythm that was flowing through her now; she had long since discarded the notion that it was a strange feeling, and she had fully embraced it, letting it sharpen her instincts and hone her reactions. She saw his series of attacks coming, and set herself to counter them.

She shifted her head to her right, just enough to attempt to avoid the first punch - keeping her movements to just what was needed to succeed, saving her energy, maximizing her momentum - then crossed her wrists and brought her guard down to try to block the jab at her stomach. She leaned back again to to avoid the uppercut, raised her right knee to block the kick, and used the force of the impact to help her somersault backward just far enough away from the thrust of his dagger.

If she managed to avoid serious damage from the furious assault, she would come back up in a crouch, then lash out in a fast roundhouse sweep with her long right leg, hoping to take him off his feet and drop him hard.

Amber dodged, blocked, evaded and avoided swiftly like a dancer: She eased to the side and Spyre's punch whizzed past her head. Her wrists hurt as she blocked the jab, but it minimized any damage she'd have taken, and Spyre's fingers received a jolt of pain from hitting the hard surface of her bony wrists, as they expected fleshy stomach. His uppercut also missed as she moved her head back elegantly, like a graceful dancer. The kick that she blocked knocked her off balance and she fell to the side, but that only helped her avoid the knife. Her movements were too fast for her to be completely in control, and it felt like everything was a natural reaction. The female assassin's tumble wasn't quite as masterful as her incredible display of avoidance, but she was able to keep her footing.

As she somersaulted like a clumsy ballerina, Spyre clutched his fingers; he may be a deadly fighter, but he wasn't immune to pain. He quickly overcame it however and stepped backwards, noticing the kick that was launched toward his head. He ducked under her kick and tumbled past her, ending right near the door. She's fast... Almost like Sorihn.

Amber was doing extremely well, but it wasn't likely that she'd have a cakewalk holding her own against Spyre, let alone killing him. Vaughn was considering jumping in, but there was honor in what they were doing, which he didn't want to soil. He knew how Spyre worked, and was certain that Amber was safer this way- at least for the moment. The noble man simply made sure Rae didn't pull any tricks, and he watched Amber and Spyre fight. He inched towards towards the dresser inconspicuosly, and continued to observe.

"...Name." Spyre said to Amber, in a deep and weak, scratchy voice which sounded as if it hadn't been used in years. He wasn't attacking at the moment, only waiting, and he didn't repeat himself.

Amber stumbled a little as she came back up on her feet, and she did her best to keep her guard up in case Spyre tried to take advantage of her less than stellar tumbling skills. But thankfully, he paused near the door, and she took the opportunity to square off her stance, catch her breath, and take stock of her injuries. The kick had shaken her a little bit, but thanks to her partially successful block, it hand't caused any real harm. Nothing else seemed to be hurting or bleeding - at least, not seriously - so she figured she was okay. All of this flashed through her mind in the matter of a flicker.

Her eyes were studying Spyre, trying to find a weakness, trying to figure out what her next attack was going to shape up like. She knew that he wasn't about to tire, nor was he likely to leave any obvious openings. This was certainly the most challenging fight she'd ever been in her entire life, and she had no doubts that it was going to take considerably more effort to come out of it the victor, unless something else changed soon.

His question - or rather, his word - took her by surprise. She blinked, thinking maybe she'd imagined it. But no, he was standing there, looking at her, as if waiting for her to reply. Was he serious? He certainly looked it. Should she answer? She didn't see why not. Even as these thoughts flashed through her mind, she was still studying him, still looking for anything that might give her an opening or an advantage. She was trying to know him as much as was possible with only her eyes to provide the information - and her instincts.

"Amber," she replied, her voice low but strong. She kept it just as simple as his question. One word, nothing more. She didn't give her last name. There was no need to. That was all he needed to know right now.

She stared at him, her lithe body tensed, crouched slightly, waiting to spring back into action the moment he twitched, looking for that little opening or sign of weakness that would signal her to take the initiative and strike first.

"Amber, you should consider working with us, your fucking amazing." Raemond Skott spoke in a persuasive (albeit annoying to Amber) tone, and he walked over towards the more quiet of the dark adhiel. Spyre merely looked at Skott with utter shock at the suggestion, and while he was distracted by that statement, the sound of a wooden drawer crashing to the ground could be heard. Amber would be hard-pressed to avoid turning around out of instinct. If she did, she would see that one of the drawers from the dresser was missing- it was on the floor, and Vaughn was holding a hand-cannon, aimed directly at the two dark adhiel.

"You two are going to get the hell out of here," he spoke, his voice still silky and smooth. "...And Amber is staying with me. Go on, get lost, she's got no use for racist scum like yourselves. You kill without discrimination, as long as those are different than you. Women, children. You're slime."

"Us! Racist?" Skott retorted. "We're the product of hundreds of yahren of oppression. Who the hell gave you the right to judge us? A stupid human couldn't live out five lifetimes and comprehend the suffering we see every day, just because of our skin! Did the evils of our fathers doings really bequeath to us such pain? I should-"

"Skott..." Spyre mumbled. He didn't feel their 'sob story' was appropriate now. They had a job to do, and Rae was getting distracted. "Malachi..."

"Alright, Vaughn, we'll leave- but if we find out you fucking lied to us, you and Amber are both dead!" Rae walked slowly with his hands in the air, toward the window, and he climbed out. Spyre merely stepped closer to Vaughn, and looked him right in the eyes as the barrel pointed at his forehead. He stepped forward again, and Vaughn pulled the trigger back. It appeared to Amber that she could easily place her knife in his back if she was quick enough.

"I'll do it, don't mark me for a coward who can't take a life, Spyre." I'd rather not kill you, but Malachi has something you wish to take away... A future. I won't let you do that.

Amber heard the crash, and it startled her, but she didn't lose her wits and turn around completely to face the sound of the possible new threat. Instead, she merely pivoted on one foot, shifting her stance slightly so that she could see both Spyre and whatever else was taking place. Her eyes widened a bit as she saw that Vaughn was now holding a hand cannon of his own. Well, it seemed like she and Spyre weren't the only fast ones around here.

She listened to their conversation, but she didn't comprehend much of it. She didn't know who this "Malachi" was, and she could only glean the slightest idea of what Skott was talking about as far as "racism" was concerned. Apparently, people treated dark adhiel differently because of their skin color. As for Amber, she'd never even seen a dark adhiel before today, so she could care less about their skin. She made a mental note to ask Vaughn what the hell was going on here. It was probably none of her business, but she'd just engaged in a life threatening fight with a stranger, so she felt that entitled her to some answers.

She tensed as Spyre started to step forward. She didn't miss the opening - her senses were too hyper-alert for that - but she didn't take it. Had it been Skott, she wouldn't have hesitated. That fellow was a viper, nothing more. But Spyre had fought her with at least some bit of honor, and she felt there was at least that bond between them, the understanding of two fighters who had at least some standards. She wouldn't stab him in the back.

"Just go," she said to him softly, though she didn't lower her guard. "Whatever you're here for, you didn't get it, and neither of us are going to let you get it. So just go." If he glanced at her at all, she'd make a pointed stare at his back, trying to let him know she could have struck, but didn't. "Just go," she said again.

Spyre did not look at Amber, he didn't even turn around. Rae was long gone, and Vaughn's finger was itchy. "Come on you dolt! Darkrise is waiting for us! Oh and Madison, don't think we're anywhere near done with you! You punks are going to pay!" A shout came from outside the window, apparently on the roof. Skott still couldn't shut up, even after he'd left.

"Amber..." Spyre mumbled, his voice aching from it's intense use today. "...keep... the honor." He slowly stepped toward the window and climbed out, also heading for the roof. Vaughn sighed with relief and lowered his gun at last. He was still half-naked, and a dark bruise was forming on the back of his right shoulder. He clutched his shoulder, and made sure everything was in place, and then he looked at Amber, with eyes that reflected the relief of someone who almost lost their truest love.

Amber maintained her guard - her entire body a coil spring ready to move into action should Spyre even blink wrong - until the dark adhiel was out the window and out of sight. Then she waited a few moments longer before carefully edging over to the window and looking outward and up, careful to keep her head just inside, in case Skott decided he wanted to take a cheap shot. If everything was clear, she would turn back to Vaughn.

As her adrenaline rush wore off, she realized that her entire body was trembling, and her legs felt shaky. Her first instinct was to get out of that room as fast as possible, and go find some dark corner in which to curl up and regain her breath, as realization at how close to death she'd just possible come flooded through her. She'd been in life or death situations before, but never against someone who had such skills as Spyre.

But the look in Vaughn's eyes made her stay. She shared his sigh of relief and finally let herself relax. She looked down and realized she was still holding the stilleto Spyre had given to her to fight with - better not to let Envergine know she had it. She slipped it into the wasitband of her pants at the small of her back with the practiced ease of someone who was used to handling small blades. With her shirt covering it, no one would know it was there unless their hand was actually on it.

Her eyes fell on Vaughn's bruised shoulder, and she wondered if it hurt as bad as it looked. "Here," she said softly, "let me look at that." She reached up to touch his shoulder gently, her fingertips sliding carefully over his skin as she examined the bruise. She knew absolutely nothing about healing - even for the most minor of wounds - but Vaughn seemed so concerned about her well being that showing some concern in return was the least she could do.

She also recognized her own need for some comfort. What had just happened had left her shaken, and as she gently rubbed the skin around his bruise, she let her smaller body press against him lightly. "Are you okay?" she asked finally, her voice barely above a whisper.

Vaughn grabbed Amber's waist and the back of her head and pressed her against him passionately. His lower lip pushed between her own lips, and he held his hand in the small of her back, holding her firmly against him. The warmth flowing from him no doubt caused shivers to run through her cold, clammy and sweat-covered body. Five flickers passed and he let go, moving his head back to look her in the eyes. His deep resonating voice was soft and concerned, and his eyes spoke the honesty he couldn't hold back.

"Amber, I thought I was going to lose you... So soon after realizing that I couldn't bear such a thing." He felt no self-consciousness, only concern and relief. His wound felt no pain, how could he hurt at a moment like this?

Amber's arms and legs were weak- and not because of Vaughn's smooth (or perhaps ridiculous) behavior. She had overworked her muscles and great fatigue was setting in. It took concentration to not fall over from exhaustion.

Amber gasped as Vaughn grabbed her and kissed her passionately. Her body tensed in surprise, but just as quickly, she relaxed again, letting herself melt into him. She kissed him back hard, revelling in the sensation, very nearly moaning in delight as she felt his strong warmth against her body. She wished the feeling would never end, but all too soon, it did, and she was left looking up at him, breathless, trying to find something intelligent to say. But she couldn't think of anything, so she just stared at him. For the moment, all of her questions regarding the altercation that had just taken place were pushed from her mind by the presence of the handsome man whose arms she was in.

Finally, she was able to muster a bit of a response. "Yeah, well," she said with a bit of a cheeky grin, "as many people have discovered before, I'm not that easy to kill. Some of 'em found out the hard way. You, fortunately, took a different route."

It was then that she noticed how weak she was feeling. Her previous sensation of near invincibility was long gone, and instead, she felt weary to the bone. She could make her arms and legs stop trembling. "I'm so tired," she murmured, resting her cheek against his chest as she leaned into him for support. "I don't know what came over me. But it's gone now, and I can barely stand up." She looked up to his eyes again. "Is it all right if I sleep here for awhile? I feel safe here, with you. Will you help me undress?"

"Of course Amber, the assassin's herb you breathed must be leaving your system," He pointed to the now snuffed out candle. "...I've grown quite used to it by now, you'll be fine- just don't fall asleep too quickly, or your muscles will be awfully sore in the morning." If she allowed, he pulled her shirt off over her head and unfastened her trousers. "Of course you can stay here for the evening, I would be honored to host your stay."

Suddenly, he put his arm behind her knees his other arm behind her shoulders, and he lifted her up, carrying her to the bed. He laid her down and leaned in to give her another kiss on her cheek.

Assassin's herb? she thought. So that's what it was... In the back of her mind, she was a little disappointed. She had been hoping that she'd somehow discovered some sort of hidden potential within herself that had allowed her to fight as skillfully as she had. Nevertheless, she was still glad that she'd managed to simply survive the encounter. She had no doubt that, had she been weaker, Spyre would have had no qualms about killing her.

She let Vaughn pull her shirt off over her head, and although this wasn't the first time she'd undressed in front of a man, she felt her cheeks flushing a bit as her ample breasts were bared to him. She let him unfasten her trousers, and then she pushed them down, stepping out of them gracefully, now completely naked before him.

She gasped and laughed softly as he picked her up and then gently put her on the bed. She gazed up at him as he kissed her, and she put her arms around his neck, refusing to let him go. "You said I shouldn't fall asleep too quickly," she murmured to him. "But I'll need your help to stay awake for a little while." She leaned up to kiss him, pressing her lips against his.

Vaughn Madison's face briefly flushed rouge as Amber suggested such a thing. He was still half-naked, and his muscular body was traversing his blood quite away from his face, adding brevity to his blush. His infatuation was manifesting itself under his beltline, and most of his blood wasn't in his brain anymore. "Well Amber, you vision of beauty... I fear that I don't know how to keep you awake, other than talking. I would love nothing more than to express how I feel to you physically, but you see, I've never..."

Her lips silenced him, as they pressed up against his. He glided the tip of his tongue along her lower lip and he was left speechless. He didn't realize, but part of him was now erect and completely outside of his breeches and quite near Amber, as he stood at her bedside.

Amber was so exhausted from the after effects of the drug, and yet so excited by what was happening - and, admittedly, becoming very smitten with this handsome man - that she didn't much care about what he'd been trying to say. She kissed him deeply, firmly, one hand sliding around the back of his head to hold him close. She moaned softly into the kiss, expressing appreciation for the sensation of his tongue, as she gently took it between her lips and suckled on it.

Slowly, her other hand slid up his leg, her fingertips teasingly brushing over the tip of his hardness, destroying any doubt there might have been about what she wanted from him.

Vaughn shivered as Amber's hand moved up his leg. He didn't wish to spoil the blooming relationship between himself and Amber by rushing into something so primal, but he was human. In fact, right now, he was feeling very human. He trembled as she teased him, hinting that she may 'grab life by the horn,' but not following through.

"Amber, I've not been with a woman..." as perfect as you before, he continued his sentence in his thoughts. "I am afraid..." That I might drive you off if I'm anything but perfect.

He continued to stand by her bedside, and his heart was pounding in his chest. The room seemed very quiet when he was not talking, and his soothing bass was as smooth as ever. He was paralyzed and smitten. All of the thoughts of things that he wished he were doing to her were rushing through his mind, but he was stalling. His heart was completely swayed, but his head couldn't follow through.

You'll have to make the first move, Amber.

Amber couldn't read Vaughn's mind, but she recognized his hesitancy. And when he said he'd not been with a woman, she couldn't help but smile gently. Not so long ago, she had been the virgin, experiencing something new, something wonderful. The idea that she could share something intimate like this with a man like Vaughn excited her.

"Don't be afraid," she whispered as she sat up slowly, looking up at him with her pale green eyes as her hands slowly started to undo his belt and pants, if he'd let her. "I won't hurt you." She grinned, jesting, but it was also meant as a seductive smile, designed to put him at ease.

"Very well..." The noble assassin openly accepted her forwardness, although he didn't get into the bed with her just yet. He was still hesitating, following her lead. He allowed her to unclasp his pants, and it wasn't difficult for her to do. As she undid his breeches, his ever expanding loins ventured out and right into her hand. He trembled with excitement and nervousness as this happened, and he extended his right hand to brush against Amber's cheek. I'm falling in love... I really am a dumbass...

Despite the cold precision in his work, this type of task required much more thought to execute. Amazing how a killer could become a sheep when a woman was near.

"You are so lovely, Amber."

No turning back now.

Amber gasped softly as Vaughn's manhood all but sprang into her waiting hand, not in surprise, but in pleasure. It seemed that he was just as well endowed sexually as he was in every other sense of the word. She grinned, and it was a mischievously wicked expression.

"Thank you," she murmured at his compliment, blushing a bit as he caressed her cheek. She could sense that he was allowing her to take control of the situation for the moment, but that didn't mean that she was immune to his words. As she gazed back up into his eyes, her warm fingers remained curled around his shaft, and she gently began to stroke him, moving her hand up and down slowly.

Her other hand reached out to slide up and down his hip, caressing him, feeling his strong muscles beneath his skin. She made no other move, simply sitting on the bed in front of him, her bare toes just barely touching the floor, her knees on either side of his legs... looking into his eyes as her hand continued to move over his manhood.

Amber found that she could entirely control Vaughn during this moment. There wasn't much blood in his head, and he was so infatuated with her, he was merely following her lead. When she began to stroke, he took a step closer to the bed. It probably wouldn't take much more convincing before he was under the sheet with her. Nervously, he continued to speak, tactlessly and awkwardly. His voice was just as smooth as ever, but his nervousness was clear, and most likely flattering.

"I think, don't be offended... But I think I've fallen in love with you."

Amber hesitated for a moment as he said he thought he'd fallen in love with her. She liked Vaughn a lot; she thought he was a good man, and extremely handsome - enough so to become sexually intimate with him after only knowing him for a very short time - but she had no intention of falling in love with him. After a moment though, she shrugged it off mentally. Once he'd expended himself with her - hopefully more than once - he'd calm down and start thinking more clearly, and realize that he was merely infatuated.

She continued to stroke his shaft firmly, and as it grew harder and longer, she added her other hand, now pumping it with both. She slid her legs around his partially, hooking her ankles around the back of his calves and pulling him closely, so that the head of his manhood was now positioned directly in front of her face.

She looked up at him one last time, then leaned down to start gently kissing and running her tongue around his the head of his shaft.

Vaughn blushed as Amber began to stroke him, but he was unusually quiet. He didn't want to ruin the moment, but he felt as though he had to act his role in the situation. He began to draw even nearer to her and he set a knee on the bed, looking down at her with a devilish grin. He was gaining confidence as she started to lick him, and he was almost ready to enjoy her embrace.

Amber remained where she was as he drew closer, close enough for her ample breasts to brush against his legs as he set one knee on the bed next to her. "Mmm, yes, let's," she murmured as she grinned up at him. She returned her attention to his shaft, and began to suck on him gently, working to bring him to such heights of arousal that he would not be able to resist her. The reason for that was simple; she was unable to resist him, and she wanted the feeling to be mutual.

As Amber began to please Vaughn, he couldn't stand waiting any longer. He had succumbed, and he pulled the sheet up and laid down next to her, pulling the sheet over top of them. He pushed himself up so that he was over her, and he held his face less than an inch away from her face, and down below he was even closer to her. Touching, but not entering just yet. He was her pawn of the bedroom, it was her lead that he was following. He pushed his lips against hers and he rubbed his hand along her side, hoping that the foreplay would stop, and the lovemaking would start.

"Are you ready, Amber?"

Amber was just starting to truly enjoy pleasuring Vaughn like this when he pulled away and gently pushed her back onto the bed, and lay down next to her. She was momentarily disappointed; she had wanted to play with him for a bit before this part, but she supposed she could understand his desire for something more. She certainly felt it as well.

She moaned softly in growing pleasure as he kissed her, his hands rubbing over her body, sliding along her naked skin. She felt the firm, hot head of his impressive manhood resting against the entrance to her sex, and she momentarily wondered if she was too tight to accommodate his size. But there was only one way to find out.

She spread her legs a bit for him, bringing her knees up slightly on either side of his legs, and arched her back a little, pressing her ample breasts against his chest, her tight, sensitive nipples rubbing against his warm skin. "Take me," she whispered in response to his question. "My body is yours..."
