Rimehold, Bergliin Tents: Miscellaneous (Samheen 15th)

Post by Anarie Laezuriel »

(Hex/Ellena/Scatha/Arvana/Brynhild from: Rimehold, North Star Tavern: Miscellaneous (Samheen 15th))

Lirahn and Evan allowed themselves to be led down the street by the youngest of the Bergliin Family. Children watched their passing with only a slight interest, they had all heard about the elf and now that the novelty had worn off she was less interesting. Still though, the younger natives tried to peek good looks at this rag-tag group that had come to their home un-announced and seemingly over night.

The area of Rimehold where the families made their homes was alive with the sounds of common life. The clash of a smithy's hammer, shouts from kitchens announcing that Lunch was ready. Children running amok both inside and outside, playing with wooden weapons or even some sitting estudiously drawing on flat slabs of stones with white colored chalk. Nanny's marked with the sign of slavery on their necks sitting observing a group of little one's or trying to tell them a story or get them to play nicely with eachother.

A huge tent that looked like a castle made of cloth and hide sat in the middle of these groupings of smaller tents like a queen bee in the center of a hive. "That'd be the Kona's Tent, you'll be getting to see it real close tomorrow." Evan whispered gently in Arvana's ear, his breath tickling it.

Scatha was bemused; how can they use the hide from these "elks" for footwear, and not use them for whips? Perhaps they didn't have any cattle to herd... even so, a whip was a useful thing to have. If she could find a leatherworker, and show them how to make a whip, maybe there was an opportunity to pay back the kindness these people had shown her and the others. She'd seen her father and bothers make whips back in Dort, and she thought she could remember what to do.

Scatha followed the group through the street, taking in the sights and sounds and smells, smiling at the children and noting the adults as they went about their lives... and noting any shops or craftsmen as she went by. She poked Lirahn firmly in the back; "Are you sure that there are no leatherworkers here?" she asked insistently...

Arvana walks closely, side by side with the others, not caring to get lost. She looks over the tents, with no interest until she sees one in the center. It is bigger then the rest, and looked to be centered out for a reason.

When Even leaned over and whispered in her ear, she leaned in a bit, listening. Nodding, she continues to look at the tent in amaze. "Big. When we go?"

(OOC: Sorry for poor post! Right now I have exams to study for, and wont be able to think too much to post. I will try and post everyday, when there needs to be posting, but I am sorry for the poor quality of the posts.)

Hex walked along feeling quite content. Every now and then she would comment on this or that, and point to things that have changed since she was last here. As she walked along she found herself letting go of Evan's arm to favor Lirahn's. Hex could hear her father and brother working in the forge up ahead.

"Now Lirahn, shall we see what my father thinks of you touching my hair at night? Humm? Perhaps you would like to meet my sister Kiran and explain such thoughts to her?"

Hex pauses giving Brynhild a wide grin before stopping and pulling Lirahn's head down to her level by his beard. Whispering in his ear in a hushed, under her breath, most definitely trying to be sensual tone..

"You should be careful what you ask for Lirahn da`Waelkyrige, you might just get it."

Releasing Lirahn Hex walks forward to the tent door to call out her sisters Kiran and Gisella before pausing for a wick to call for her father and brother to come out of the smithy.

((OOC: Hi there, all. After some jumbling about, I've agreed to take over this thread from Anarie. I hope you'll all bare with me while I'll make myself comfortable. Please feel free to contact me if you've any questions, comments or suggestions to make this a fun experience for you.))

The prod to his back was more than enough to cause him to turn about and stare at the one who did it. Seeing, perhaps even knowing ahead of time, that it was Scatha, Lirahn smiled brightly and laughed. "Leather workers? How do you mean 'leather workers'?" He seemed interested in her answer, puzzled by the word as though the presence of all the beautiful ladies was fraying his mind.

Evan grinned and gestured absently with his free hand to the Kona's tent as he answered Arvana's question. "Soon, tomorrow, after we get back from our adventure." Pausing, he looked at her in full profile, chuckling quietly. "After we've all bathed and made ourselves presentable for the Kona, of course!"

Lirahn was doing his best to pay attention to them all, his face lit by his mirth despite Hex's comment to his infatuation. Flushing softly at her teasing, released her and pretended to step away in fear. "No, let's not Kiran involved, please, Hex, you wouldn't want to bother her with a trifle..." Despite his laughingly made protests, his beard, miniscule as it was, given that he had only recently become a man in eyes of the clans, was tugged. Her comments only caused him to blush all the more.

The entire group came to a stop before a tent baring a simple hammer motif painted onto the fabric above the entryway. Hex cried out, demanding for her siblings and father, startling those having gathered outside. The two Waelkyrige brothers could only shake their heads in mock dismay, as though they didn't quite believe that she just shouted so for her family.

Gisella was the first to emerge, bearing a striking resemblance to her sister but only in face. She was a tiny, slender little thing, easily dwarfed by her dear younger, and much taller, sister. A smile cracked across her face at the sight of Hex, eyes widening as though she'd been told that Hex returned but that she didn't quite believe it. Arms opened and she closed the distance between them, enfolding her sibling into a warm and loving embrace.

Evan and Lirahn both grinned, the latter being cheeky enough to elbow Scatha impishly as though this was a rare treat. His brother must've caught the gesture, because he just shook his head with a grin and murmured to Arvana, "If Hex has seen him, he'll be done for... She'll tell Kiran about what he said about her hair and then we'll see a -real- treat."

Hex was a little surprised by Gisella as she tackled her with a warm embrace. Wow, she must have really missed me... Hex simply snarled her lip at her brothers only to then stick out her tongue at them like she used to do as a child. Mead must be getting to my head.

"Ah sister it is good to be home." Hex's smile wavered just a bit as she thought of her lost mother, a dark cloud to deal with another time.

"As you met my friends at the Inn earlier, they have decided to go hunting and I was wondering if you and Kiran would hep them with some more suitable hunting clothes? speaking of Kiran, why didn't the two of you tell me that redheads have become good luck since I left? Lirahn da`Waelkyrige has informed me that playing with my hair at night would make him the most lucky of men."

Hex quietly turned to face Lirahn giving him a look of measuring how he would deal with this situation. While doing so Hex pulled Scatha to her side, whispering in her ear.." Remind me later to ask you about the Ceaser.." Hex then looked back at Lirahn, her smile going from mischievous to down right wicked....

OOC: So sorry for my absence for so long - had a lot of RL problems all at once, but hopefully I've got everything sorted out enough to let me at least keep up now!

IC:

Having accepted the arm Lirahn had offered to her, Ellena had followed with the others looking around curiously as the group passed through the settlement. Having seen little of the world outside Dort, she was intrigued by everything and how it differed from what she was accustomed to. While they walked, she also listened in amusement to the bantering between the others, in particular Hex and Lirahn and, as Hex proceeded to drop him in it with her sister, she couldn't help laughing - it seemed he had met his match! Perhaps he would be rethinking that lucky redhead theory after this ...

Scatha was bemused; "A leather worker is someone who makes things out of leather... shoes and the like. You do know what leather is, don't you? It's the tanned skin of animals." She glanced down at her feet; "Somebody must have cut the skin of an animal to make these," she declared, pointing down. She would have continued, but then Hex pulled her to one side, and whispered something about the Caesar. Scatha wasn't exactly sure what a Caesar actually was - she only had dealings with handsome young Kings - but made a mental note remind herself what a Caesar was the next time she spoke to Hex...

OOC: Just so that people know my intentions and maybe we could break the group up a bit for more cohesive, tighter interaction. I know that people are having a lot of RL issues at the moment, perhaps smaller groups are the answer at this time...just an idea.

Hex smiled at Scatha...

"I am sure that one of the merchant families will be able to make this long tail of a thing called a whip for you. Perhaps after you go hunting we will wander over to their tents. I plan to walk around the town for the day, I will keep my eye open for you. Ellena, do you want to come with me or do you plan to do some hunting?"

Hex looks at Lirahn out of the corner of her eye as she talked about the hunting...

Brynhild wandered along a little servilely behind the others, her lips creased in a faint smile of amusement at Hex' carrying-on. "'Scuse me while I get my bow and arrows; I'll meet ya all back at the Bergliin tent.,"she said by way of excusing herself, then she scuttled away to one of the smaller tents surrounding the main Waelkyrige tent and lifted the door flap. She homed in on her sleeping space and pulled out her bow and the quiver full of sharp-tipped hunting arrows. She flexed the bow carefully, checking how it had survived the past week or so being unstrung, then pulled out a bowstring from a small pocket on the quiver, spat in her hand and proceeded to string it. The bow set to her satisfaction, she exited the tent, her eyes blinking at the change of light. Seeing as how the others were still at the Bergliin tents, she scuttled up behind them, ready for the hunt.

Ellena smiled at Hex's question and gave a little shrug.

"I think I'll leave the hunting to those who know what they're doing for now anyway." she grinned, "It'd be fun to explore the town - if you don't mind the company, Hex."

((I'm home, and glad to be!! I had a good time, but I need to get back to business.))

Arvana links her arm with Evans, and continues the walk. She's enjoying herself, for the first time in a while. Just being able to walk and have no great intensions or worries. Smiling at Hex, she noticed she wasn't addressed. Anyways, Hex probably knew that she would be going hunting. Ever since she was young, she enjoyed using her bow. Unfortunently, she lost it, and almost all of her possesions in the shipwreck.

((Ooc: Who ever is doing this thread, if you wish, you could take all any items you believe I would have lost in the shipwreck. I could take out somethings, but I havta go...))

Kiran had followed Gisella out in only a few flickers, laughing quietly at her youngest sister's demand of knowledge. Shrugging absently, she wrapped her arms about her sibling as well, giving her a warm embrace and having apparently missed the youngest of the family, as well. Gisella looked at Lirahn, eyes wise as she though she thought him either the most daring of rogues or the most vile of men.

The lady of the house didn't seem to think it was quite so amusing and turned to give Lirahn a stern look, hands placed firmly upon her hips. "Lirahn so'Waelkyrige... You will mind your manors."

She needn't say anything else, the man in question was cowed, good naturedly, enough that he ducked behind Scatha and his brother, trying to hide from the fury of the eldest Bergliin lady. He seemed to have missed Hex's wicked little smile at his discomfort.

Evan looked to Ellena, smiling at the soft spoken young lady. "You're so quiet! You ought to speak up more, or all your friends are going to never let you get a word in edgewise."

Scatha's comments on leather working were missed by the young man she was speaking to. He was still hiding from Kiran as though he was afraid she was going to do him bodily harm. Still, that didn't stop the headwoman of sorts from hearing the foreigner's words on the subject. Looking to Scatha, she smiled, nodding gently. "Yes, we have artisans that can work leather like you say. But when they cure the hides..." She shook her head as though the stench of such work was more than enough to put her out of the village.

The entire group watched Brynhild depart, Gisella looking up and waving, calling out loud enough to attract the attention of others in the area. "Do hurry back, Brynhild, we'll be waiting!" She smiled brightly and turned saucily to the rest of those gathered. "Well, come inside, before you all catch your deaths of cold. It wouldn't speak well of our hospitality..."

The assembly shuffled into the tent, a big enough affair that they all could stand without touching, though, it wouldn't be comfortable for long. Inside, the three women's father was, a familiar enough sight having seen him earlier. Kiran made her way to his side and began to softly whisper into his ear the reason for their coming.

"Hunting gear?" Solarin's voice rumbled up from his wide chest like a thunder rolling on the horizon. A grin parted his lips and he surveyed those before him. "And just who all of you are going?"

Also present was Hex's brother, Langrin, having made himself known by knocking Hex's shoulder like a true comrade. "Hex! Welcome back! And what have you brought with you?" His eyes scanned over those present, before finally settling upon Arvana. sideling up to her, he gently pushed her escort, Evan, aside and wrapped an arm about her shoulders. "Hello, m'dear... this is the first time I've seen a real elf before..." His smile was warm, teasing.

"Would anyone like something warm to drink?" Kiran's lovely and quiet voice lilted above the gathering in polite, hostess like efficiency.

Scatha blinked; so many conversations, so much noise! She had never been one for crowded, noisy places... no wonder Hex had left Trothgard if it was like this all the time. Through the cacophony she heard someone - one of Hex's sisters? - say something about an artisan that did something with leather, along with something about the smell. Scatha grinned at that; in Dort, the tanners used to cure the cattle hides by soaking in a vat of well matured urine. "Oh, I don't mind the smell," she said cheerfully, trying to make herself heard above the noise. "Do you think I could see this artisan?" Artisan was a word that Scatha had never heard before, and she wasn't entirely sure what one of them was... perhaps it was a strange kind of beast that pissed on the hide to cure it. There was only one way to find out...

Hex looked over at Lirahn and laughed at his discomfort. Turning to Ellena...

"I would love to have you accompany me on a trip through the market tents. I think that we should get you a change of clothes though, perhaps you will let me do your hair?"

Solarin's voice boomed over the din. Hex patted her father on the chest in a playful manner...

"Yes father I think I will go shopping and tour the town. I am sure that much has changed since I left. I need to be fresh for tomorrow since it appears that I will be meeting the Kona tomorrow..."

On Kiran's invitation to tea, Hex grabs Ellena by the arm taking her towards the tent entrance...turning back towards Scatha as she asks about seeing an artisan...

"Like I said, I will take you anywhere you want to go sweetheart."

Giving Scatha a wink she goes to pull Ellena through the flap..

Ellena smiled at Evan's comment and shrugged slightly.

"I guess I'm just not used to all this - we didn't exactly get such crowds of people on my farm back home. But I don't mind, I like to listen to all the chatter ... Make quite a welcome change from the quiet." she told him.

Seeing how easily the younger of the two brothers was pushed aside from where he had stood beside Arvana, the red-head gave him a little poke in the ribs with her finger.

"Just make sure you speak up too." she whispered with a discreet nod towards the man who had taken his place, wrapping his arm around the elf Evan seemed so taken with.

Having wrapped her own arms around herself to ward off the cold, Ellena turned her attention to Hex and nodded at her suggestion. She gave a little laugh as she looked down ruefully at her clothes, the shirt and breeches she had been wearing at the time of the shipwreck and which were now her only clothes, save for her cloak which she had had to leave back at the tavern to continue drying out.

"Yes, if we are to meet the Kona, it would never do to look like something the tide dragged in - even if that's the truth!" she grinned.

Hearing Hex's sister offer something warm to drink, Ellena realised she was keen to get out of the cold and allowed herself to be led inside the tent by Hex.

Arvana, quite content sighed when they entered the tent. Inside, there was soo much noise. Putting her hands to her ears, she blocks most of the noise out but cant hear if anyone is talking to her.

While standing and watching, Arvana sees the young man push Evan away and put his arms around her. Taking her hands from her ears, she Listens to Hex's brother talk, not liking his teasing manner. "I sorry, but I no comfortable." She moves out from under his arms, and closer to Evan. Putting her arm back in his, she smiles to the man. "Here, I comfortable. Sorry?" Not wanting to offend the man, she gives a soft smile, lighting up her features.

A little bored, and uncomfortable with the big crowd, she whispers in Evan's ear. "You think possible if we go outside? Noisy here. I dont like it." Arvana wishes she could use her native tounge, as she has not used it since she left Dort.

Solarin grunted and watched his youngest daughter manage all of these sudden guests in the tent. The volume and general stuffiness of so many seemed to be a concern or a problem for all, though none of the Bergliins did anything to deny their guests. "Hex, just who all did you say were going?" He did, after all, need to know who all were going to go on this hunting trip. So far, all he had heard were those that were not.

Kiran smiled to Scatha as she commented on not minding the smell. She was just about to reply when Hex had done it for her. Instead, she drifted from the general nexus of conversation towards the rear of the tent, moving towards a brazer to being a pot of tea. She knew well enough that it wasn't going to be enough for everyone but that wouldn't diminish her abilities and duties as a hostess.

Evan looked to Ellena, smiling despite his rather rude shove from Arvana's side. "This is a lot of people, you are right..." He looked up to glance over those gathered. "But I do speak up, when necessary." That was well timed, given that Arvana clearly wasn't welcoming the advances that Langrin was making. Winking to Ellena again, he chuckled. "Time to rescue a damsel in distress..."

He rejoined Arvana, glaring almost mockingly at Langrin. "I think we will wait outside, the noise is clearly bothering my Elfish friend." His words were meant to sooth Langrin, hopefully suceeding in a successful getting away with her back outside. Langrin frowned, but said nothing as that Gisella joined them, her face lit by her bright grin. "Now, now, Langrin, that is no way to treat a guest..." She scolded him, but was securing Evan and Arvana's get away in the only manner she could without incensing his annoyance.

Lirahn, still trying to cope in the aftermath of Hex's meddling, and still flushed, for that matter, stepped forward to move towards Solarin. "Well, it's going to be me and Evan... and I think Brynhild and the Elf, Arvana are coming..." He looked towards Scatha, brows arching. "Are you going to come with us, too?" Looking hopeful, he smiled.

OOC: I'm assuming that Evan has already stepped out of the tent.

She came trotting back to the Bergliin tent with her bow and quiverful of arrows, and quite literally ran into her cousin Evan, which was rather like running into a stone wall. It was enough to knock her off her feet and onto her butt, sending a shock through her spine and making her head reel. She sat there for a minute, waiting for her head to recover, then reached up for Evan to give her a hand. After all, he had knocked her down....

In the meantime, the chatter coming throught the tent flap caught her attention. Did someone mention something about tea? she thought, which would be most appreciated right about now. Then she heard her name spoken in regards to the hunt. "I'm here and I'm going," she yelled, still waiting for Evan to help her up.

Feeling the need to help her sister and not appear to be quite as rude as she most usually is, Hex helped her sister Kiran serve out tea to her friends and guests. Walking with a cup to Lirahn Hex paused between him and her father. Holding the tea out to Lirahn with her wicked little smile...

"Yes father, it appears that Lirahn will be paying us more regular visits..."

Hex let her sentence trail off leaving the young warrior to face her father with his cup of tea. Retuning to Ellena's side...

"After things have settled here a bit my sisters will help us with some suitable clothes. I was wondering if you would not mind if I tried some hairdressing skills on you. You have such nice hair and if you would not mind I would like to give you more of a local look. It might make us have less of an entourage as we move around the community."

Looking around for Scatha, Hex wanted to extend her offer to her but she looked engrossed in another conversation...

All the while Hex moved around her friends and family going about her day, her internal emotions raged in peaks and valleys. She had not taken any time to deal with the fact that her mother was gone from her.
Tea?! What in the cold fist of the Ice Queen is happening to me? Why do I not want to adventure out with the hunting party? tomorrow I meet with the Kona and after that I think I need to take some time to get back my fighting form. Hex let her struggles subside within her..I think I would really like to do Ellena's and Scatha's hair and spend the day shopping. Maybe it is time I diversify some of my skills and change some of my bleak out looks... Hex was looking over at Lirahn as those thoughts drifted out of her conscience.

Elena noted Langrin frown, but also saw that Gisella was more than capable of handling her brother tactfully and the red-head shot a little grin in Evan's direction as the young man steered her out of the crowded tent.

Seeing Hex return to her side, Ellena turned her attention to the Trothguard native, a little bemused by the capable warrior's focus on appearance. Still, unexpected as it was was, it did sound fun and she said as much to Hex.

"I'd like that," she smiled warmly, "It would be nice to try to fit in a little more around here. Thanks, Hex."

Evan, having effectively rescued Arvana from the unwanted attention of Langrin, guided her outside the tent, to wait out the preparations of the hunting parting. Hopefully, Lirahn would be able to manage this, despite the fact that Hex had heart set on getting the Waelkyrige into so much trouble with her father.

"I apologize for his behavior, that was appalling..." He smiled, trying to make Arvana feel at ease in the aftermath of the situation inside the Bergliin tent. He hadn't much time to speak, because Brynhild was hurriedly making her way towards them and into the blocky, broad form of her cousin. Evan laughed and extended a hand to Brynhild, throwing her an apologetic smile. "What are you in such a hurry for? Afraid we would leave without you?" Pulling her to her feet, he grinned broadly at her enthusiasm, looking to Arvana for her reaction.

Within the tent, still warm but less crowded, the noise level dropping as first Evan and Arvana departed, followed by Langrin, much to Gisella's amusement. The middle Bergliin daughter shifted her attention to Scatha, shrugging her shoulders as if to say 'that's men for you'. She drifted towards Scatha with two cups of tea in her hands, one to be offered to the foreigner.

"Don't worry about your gear, we can find you something suitable for tromping out the woods." Gisella gave Scatha a warm smile and was shortly interrupted, as were much of the conversations were.

It would seem Hex's attempts to get Lirahn into trouble with her father were working. "What is all this about courting Hex, young man?" Solarin's low bass rumbled over all those present like a clap of thunder.

Kiran was by Solarin's side in a moment, doing what she could to sooth her father's sudden possessiveness of his returned daughter. She shot Hex a disapproving noise, but said nothing to her sister, her attention shifting to focus on her father. Her hand lifted, gesturing Lirahn away and the matters of the hunting party dismissed for the moment. "Now father... Lirahn had only commented on the pretty colour of Hex's hair earlier and how it was good luck... Hex is just teasing you both." Again her eyes lifted to meet her sister's, as if to get the youngest's assurance that this was the truth. Their father seemed as though this might have been pacifying enough, though he remained dubiously glaring at Lirahn.

Gisella sipped at her tea, commenting softly to Scatha as she observed the entire situation play out. "My, what has she learned out there in the rest of the world..." It was meant kindly, amused to be sure, and perhaps a touch of longing tinted her voice to have the same sort of bold resolve her sibling did.

Lirahn cleared his throat, trying to return the topic back to the hunting party. "...So, it'll be myself, Evan, Brynhild, Scatha and Arvana on the trip?" He looked to Ellena and Hex for confirmation, the latter causing him to flush in remembered embarrassment. "Only Scatha and Arvana need any heavy clothing and weapons..."

Relaxing a little, Arvana allows herself to be escorted out of the tent. "No need to say sorry. His fault, not you. He rude, not you. Thank-you for saving me." She adjusts her arm in his a bit.

Arvana steps back and giggles a bit, when Brynhild literally runs into Evan. Pulling her hair back behind her head, she reaches down to help the girl, but Evan has already done so. Standing a bit taller, she gives a grin. "No leave without you. You needed, I think."

Looking down at her clothing, she smirks a bit and looks back to Evan. "I need better clothes for Hunting. And, a bow would help." She remembers losing hers during the shipwreck. It was the one hand crafted for her by her father. She dearly tresured that bow, but it was now lost to her.
