Upper City

Post by Rees »

A variety of public places and merchants' shops as well as private residences. This main part of the city meanders through and around several large ironwood trees, platforms and roads balanced on branches and trunks that the Shapers have helped to transform to allow the elves to thrive here without damaging the trees themselves.

Shapers themselves in long green robes can be seen throughout the city, encouraging and maintaining the trees, along with their brown robed apprentices who care for all the fauna in the city and systematically check each neighborhood for problems or new growth.

The lanes and platforms rise in graceful arcs through the leaves and hanging plants and herbs grow everywhere, perfuming the air sweetly. Round globes filled with lumenescent fungi also hang throughout the city, giving the entire place a soft glow of light as the sun goes down.

Shops and even homes are formed from the trees themselves and all shapes echo those in nature, rounded and smoothed, gleaming as if polished. Woven hangings and cloth are all around and the elves themselves are dressed in a variety of silvery greys, greens, purples, blues and browns- all with small touches of bright color and jewelry on their bodies and in their elaborately braided hair.

It is a colorful, cheerful place that is lively and bustling, but nonetheless manages to be peaceful and soothing. The nature all around provides a harmonious backdrop for any activity, and wind chimes can always be heard through the faint rustling of the leaves all around in the ironwood trees.

The Upper City

The Aftermath of the Great Conflagration of Samheen 19th

The Upper City was once a variety of public places and merchant's shops as well as private residences. Now, this main part of the City was a skeleton of burnt hollow large ironwood trees and ashen, black barks. The once wooden platforms and roads that balanced and webbed on the brances and trunks that the Shapers have helped to transform to allow the elves to thrive were broken, in cinders and in need of much repair.

The Upper City had now became an empty, dead place, dripping wet with the rain that had happened last night.

Few Master Shapers in long green robes were seen around the ravaged skeletonlike city, repairing and maintaing the burnt irontrees, their noble elven faces pained and sorrowed with profound grief. Along with their dwindling numbers of brown robed apprentices, they were rescuing and salvaging the few remaining trees, faunas and floras in the City, trying to shape them back to the glorious and majestic city they once had.

The lanes and wooden platforms were broken, their once graceful arcs blackened and sootfilled. The leaves, hanging plants and herbs that used to decore everywhere were gown, replaced by skeletonlike, charcoaled twigs, a miasma of burnt wood that was doused in a torrent of water hangs upon the air.

The shops and homes that were formed from the trees themselves and all shapes that echoed those in nature were gone, burnt to ashes and cinders, blackened as if charcoaled and grilled by a huge inferno. Half burnt woven hangings and clothes were all around and the numerous elves that once populate with their gay, colorful clothing and bright jewelries were few, their faces somber and pall, their clothes tattered.

It was now a dead, somber place. The nature all around was like a place out of the graveyard and the wind chimes can be heard, like a goraning toll, sorrowfully, through the faint moaning of the wind.
