Jadmai in the City ~ Time unknown

Post by Ashari »

Jad had been escorted by the guards of the Rafao himself to the grand city of Abu`Sahir. The walls gleamed like beacons across the soft sand and finally broke up the constant golden dunes with the rigid stonework and mortar that held them together. The scent of the ocean tinged the air and for the first time Jadmai was beginning to get the hint that he wasn't lost in the desert anymore. Even in the Oasis the elves had been so cut off from everything else. Here, as they came within range of the city, he could hear the sounds of people as they shopped and the laughter of children who had run from their homes to watch the advancing army as their fathers and brothers returned home from battle.

The humans had a pride about them. They brought their dead back with them to do the proper burials, and to prove death to their relatives so they could properly mourn their fallen family members and perform their rites of passage into the realm beyond. Women and children rejoiced as they saw those they knew and cried when they didn't. Jadmai didn't recieve much more than a second glance as he was immersed within the group. The Rafao rode high and proudly among his soldiers and recieved the praise of a hero. His people thought him to be like a God, second only to Uphuron Himself with Anasis at his side. The parade continued onward into the gates and then through the center of the city to the great palace where Ionis lived. There it began to disperse as the fighters sought out their baracks or their private homes. Jadmai, meanwhile, was now becoming more and more exposed to the people of the city. None gave him a particular second glance however. It wasn't how he had been told it would be when he left Gulanadur.

"So where are you planning to go from here?" The Rafao had appeared at his side, missing much of his entourage, but still a captivating human none the less. Ionis's bald head had begun to get the slightest bit of hair on it, just harsh bristles really, since he had been away from his pampered throne. He seemed to like it though as he ran his hand over his scalp and wiped away the sweat.

Rafao's question struck a chord, he hadn't thought about were to go from here. For a moment he just kept on his path, until finally he raised his eyebrows and shrugged, "I really do not know." Is all he said for a few burns.

Then he stopped and thought to himself, a wry smile crossing about his lips, "Since I'm above ground, I might as well take a look around. Can I be taken to the western terra, and no disrespect, but away from any deserts. Not that I didn't have a lovely time in you're land, I'm just not one for sand. I've walked on solid land for so long, I am still getting used to shifty sands."

Jadmai, then looked around, and ironicly thought, 'Wow, I guess life can be found anywhere.'

"The desert life is by no means meant for everyone." The rafao said as he straightened his shoulders and stood proudly, his noble blood carried through his body and gave off an aura of superiority. "If you would like to go to the Western Terra that can be set up easily. Give me a day or two to make proper arrangements and I could make sure your traveling goes smoothly." The leader displayed a straight-toothed smile.

"Until then, please take refuge here in the palace. You may stay in one of my guest rooms. Perhaps a tour of the city with one of my servants would give you something to do until a boat is available." He didn't seem to push the idea, but it was obvious that he wanted to show off his city, and specifically, his hospitality. Things had not gone well between the elves and his army, and he didn't want a deranged dark elf running off and spinning tales of the slaughterings, even if his soldiers had been provoked.

Jadmai through his makeshift blindfold, protecting his eyes from the sun, nodded, "That is a very generous offer, Master Rafao. Perhaps I could do so when the sun lowers. Seeing who and what lurks in the night in your grand city interests me, and is much easier on the eyes."

Jadmai walked in silence for a bit, he knew it was an awkward one, but he did not care, what could be more awkward, then a thought occured to him.

"Might I be so bold as to ask for an armed escort. Not that I see your people as hostile my any means, but there are always some who do not take kindly to strangers. Especially ones such as myself. I believe I could handle myself, but I fear that would only make the situation worse if it should arise."

"Other than that, I would perhaps like to retire in your generous offer of a guest room, until the sun lowers."

"I wouldn't have it any other way. A body guard will be provided for you for any time you leave the ground of the palace." The Rafao said as he lead Jadmai onward toward the golden palace. All around them the glittering gold seemed to hang in the air as the soft warmth from the expensive metal glowed and reflected the sunlight from it's covered exterior. The sound of splashing water fell onto Jadmai's pointed ears as they approached the desert beacon. All around the impressive building was a man made moat. Several huge greenish brown lizards roamed through the water and stared hungrily up at the guards that walked ahead of the Rafao to a long bridge that stretched into the opening of the huge palace.

The beasts' mouths opened in anticipation to the thought that one of the muscular men should fall from the earth covered plank they walked across. The center of the platform was made of an exotic wood with a fine grain running through it that glowed an amber color from the light overhead mixing with the gold reflection.

As the Rafao began to walk onto the wooden bridge one of the guards turned to Jadmai and said: "You cannot walk the path, you must walk the earthen stretch. Only the Golden Ones may walk where he does." It wasn't particularly rude, he was stating a fact to what he figured was an uninformed outsider. The guard slowed as Jadmai continued and then spoke again. "Consider yourself lucky, foreigner, none enter the palace unless they are of noble blood or are one of the high priests. With the exception of his closest guards." The man who was speaking to Jadmai did not fit the profile of a young soldier. In fact he was an aging man with a still strong physique, no matter how many yahrens he had lived upon Tazlure. Silver hairs had begun to edge their way to his temples, giving the red swathed warrior a look of importance. His bare arms told the stories of passed wars or perhaps past fights to protect the Rafao.

Light did shine through the blindfold Jadmai wore, he wasn't completely in the dark, he could mostly see the outlines of persons or buildings. Luckily he choose to follow the footstops of the leader of this ilse instead of the isle as they crossed the moat.

Jadmai stopped in his footsteps next to the guard who was warning him. Looking ahead at the palace he took off his blindfold slowly, and squeezed his eyes painfully, and looked at sight in front of him with on obstructed vision.

"This is quite the home you have here, Master Rafao." He said to him with a slight smirk.

He then turned to the guard, his eyes twitching a bit from the light. He tilted his head one way then the other, it was defintely the oldest human he had ever seen.

He spoke to him in elven, not really thinking much of it, "Thank you for the warning elder guard, I will take that into consideration the next I pass."

As they reached the gaping entryway to the palace the Rafao nodded. He hadn't noticed Jadmai walking along the Golden Path, and now that they were within the doorway it didn't matter.

"Do not worry." The guard began. "There is no true harm done unless the citizens view it, which they did not. Too many are busy viewing the returning soldiers and fawning at the decoy for the Rafao." He nodded in respect to Ionis before stepping to his guardsmen and calling them to order. He was the ranking leader of the unit of close guards other than the priests who were his true body guards.

"Thank you." The Rafao said in response to Jadmai's observation. "It is home to me, and always has been. So then, I should be requesting you a room with the opposite of what most request: Less or no windows. Let me assure you that is an uncommon style asked for, but I shall do what I can for you. Please, come this way and I shall have Parmina take care of you." With casual strides he made his way through the ornately decorated entry foyer. The walls were painted with bright colors and displayed the stories of the past Rafaos and their victories over beasts, and giants riding raptors and even against foreign invaders. The floor was a mosaic of chips of tilework assembled into an enormous sun in a sea of blue.

The further they walked the more exotic the surroundings were. Leafy green plants lingered in corners of the hall and tall candle holders lit their way. "Parmina, come here." The Rafao called over to a group of scandily clad women resting on pillows in a room off the main hall. "Please take my guest, Jadmai, to the room of Anasis so he may rest."

A singular lady, swathed in sheer purple fabric meandered over to the small group. Her skin was dark like Jadmai's, except it was hinted at with a mocca undertone making it a deep brown. The girl's lips were full and plump and painted with a red stain to make them even more prominent on her small elvin face. Small pointed ears poked out from her jet black hair which hung in long dark locks past her shoulders. Her nose was slightly rounded on the tip and her eyes were large and almond shaped with irises so dark they looked like ink spots on parchment. "Greetings." She said in elvish, as she bowed to Jadmai. She had a curvy form with full breats, a narrow waist, and rounded hips that looked as if she weren't covered due to the curious material she wore as a dress with a shawl.

Mmm...indoors. It was probably the first time Jadmai had gotten the idea. He hardly ever kept what he had thought a roof over his head, until now, and he truly he had begun to appreicate shelter.

His eyes picked up on a changing of light, but the bright tones of the castle interior still caused him some troublem...just like human foot steps.

He didn't interact with humans enough before to realize that he walked slower compared to them, and he found himself in somewhat of a scurry behind the royalty, making him feel even a bit more out of place.

Then he saw someone an outlined figure bow to what seemed to be him, he made a quick aside to Rafao, "Did she just bow to me--I don't think I have had someone bow in front of me...or you...or..." Jadmai quickly bowed, his backback giving off a slight din of metal on metal, and swaying him a bit off balance.

"Greetings--Parmina." Jadmai again bowed. Then lowered his blindfold down to his neck and tried to let his eyes see the new aquaintence, he had a terrible time focusing, he kept the blindfold down, and stared at the blurry form in front of him, trying to meet anothers eyes while blind, "It is a pleasure, I am sure. I am Jadmai--Jadmai Av'Zathrak."

The Rafao laughed slightly at Jadmai's obvious lack of understanding of such situations. "Of course she bowed to you, Jadmai, for you are my guest, and thus a person of great importance."

Parmina nodded to this statement. "I always take very good care of the Rafao's guests, Jadmai Av`Zathrak." The adhiel-looking girl gave a seductive smile that Jad could just barely make out in the haze of his vision. "Please, come I shall take you where you can rest and take a meal." The woman's manner of speaking elven was very different than anything he had heard before, though it was soothing and easy to listen to. She didn't sound like those who lived in the caves of Gulanadur which Jadmai had so frequently heard and learned from, and yet it wasn't like the stiff way of speaking that the humans used - no matter how much they had been taught.

"Farewell, Jadmai, I shall speak with you further later on this evening, for now I have matters of state to attend to. Much happens in the absense of the Rafao." The great and yet somewhat humble, leader took his leave with a nod to both Parmina and Jamai. "Enjoy the afternoon." And with that he turned, his small parade following after him, until he stopped and sent of the fellows back. The youngish guard wore the red vestiments of his comrades.

"I will guard your room while you rest, not that there is much concern of anyone ever getting in here, but still, you requested it and so the Rafao shall make sure you are accomodated." He seemed somewhat aggrivated at having to do such a meaningless task, he was probably chosen because of his age and rank among the guards. "Well, let's get on then." He moved his hands in an ushering motion toward the young woman and she quietly followed suit and began to walk down the hall with an air of trained compliance.

"The room of Anasis is very beautiful, I think you will enjoy it very much." Parmina said to Jadmai as they walked into dimmer halls until they reached a staircase with a few slitted windows that lead them up to the next floor. This was directly followed by a set of spiral stairs that seemed to go on forever as they plodded along the sandstone blocks. After a long time of climbing they reached a platform with a single wooden door. "Well, this is as far as you are going." She said to the guard before opening the door for Jadmai. Inside was an expanse of cool darkness rivalled only by his homeland in it's security. Closing the door behind them the pair was left in utter and complete black. "Better?" The girl asked.

Jadmai walked forward as the guard came back, "Calm down, we will get there." He said jokingly as he was led up some stairs.

Getting to the room, he walked in and started to look around, but the door closed behind them. Jadmai reached up to grab his blindfold but realized it was already down.

He then heard the woman ask if this was better. Better?

"Ah, no, this is not better." He turned around and put his fist out in front of him and felt out in front of him in a half circle, then crouching, reaching for one of his daggers. "This is complete darkness. I can't see in complete darkness. It's as blinding as the sun, just less painful. Some light would be nice.

Probing the dark with his closed hand, he waited for some light, or movement from Parmina.

"I was just kidding." She said jokingly. "Hold on..." There was the sound of light footsteps behind him and then passing along his right side as Parmina made her way across the room with enough caution to not hit anything, but also with the confidence of one who knows a place well enough to not really need lights.

The sound of a match being struck caught Jadmai's attention just as the room flared up with light. The tanned adhiel softened it by placing a hood over the lantern to create a soft glow much like the moon, and remarkably as he looked around the room he could see why it reminded him of the moon so much. Small stars were painted on the sloped ceiling and walls with metalic chips of silver or steel embedded in them which caught the bit of light and caused them to glow just enough so they could be seen. The floor beneath their feet was covered in so many layers of reflective laquer that it mirrored the above like a lake. The paint on the walls and ceiling was a soft and enveloping blueblack which also cast into the floor. "Better now?" Parmina asked as she stepped back away from the lit lamp.

The bed on the opposite wall was barely visible except for the outline of it's shape against the wall where one couldn't see any of the stars. There were little reflective blown glass balls on the top of each spire of the bed posts, but no canopy hung from them as would be customary. A few other pieces of furniture blended in well enough with the paint job, including a desk, small table with chair, and a piece of laquered furniture with drawers in it for clothes.

At the strike of match Jadmai jumped out of his silly position, and bolted upright. He tried to slide his dagger back into place, as to not draw attention.

"Yes, this is very nice. Much better than the big glaring ball, and complete darkness. What's this now..." Jadmai moved his eyes to the distance. "Ha! A bed, I've never had a bed before, except for a few days in a infirmary, so that was awful."

Jadmai scurried across the room and jumped on the bed. He jumped up and down a few times, then sort of shrugged, "Well, that always sounded like a lot of fun, not that great however."

Jadmai then shed his backpack, and crouched down, trying to see Parmina in some decent light, "Are you a half elf? I've only seen one before, and he was falling from the sky, dropped by one of those large birds. So, I didn't get a real grand look him, at least I think it was a him. He was screaming a lot like a small girl, so it was hard to tell from where I was."

Parmina watched as he dashed across the room and jumped on the bed, it took all the power she could manage to not laugh out loud at it, instead she allowed a smile to appear on her face, this time lacking the overtly seductive tone. "Why were you in an infirmiry? Were you ill?" The girl moved across the room and picked up his bag to place next to the drawered furniture with the thought he might unpack, though she wasn't certain how long he was staying for.

Once he settled down she sat down on the edge of the bed. "Me? Oh, I'm sort of a mix of all sorts of things." She shrugged. "Adhiel of Kislovan and Gulanadur and then a bit of human from the Eastern Empire. That's all on my mother's side. My father was from Amun Rah, I think you could probably trace his family all the way through the times of Abu`Sahir if you had the proper papers." Then she coughed slightly as a way of changing subjects.

"But, enough of me. I heard that you came from the desert... from an oasis deep in the sands. How did you manage to find such a place?" She seemed interested in his stories. "And that half elf.. did that happen frequently? Did you lose many of your cousins?" Her brows tightened together a bit and she looked at him with her deep dark eyes curiously.

jadmai gave a small smile, then brushed the his long bangs away from his face, and set his fingers tips on his high cheek bones. "Long stories you ask you. Parmina."

"I was, made ill, if you will. I tried to get a job in a merchant house in Gulanadur. And I was assualted by one of the guards, he sliced me across the chest diagonally." Jadmai pushed aside his armor quickly to show the scar of wound. "Then another guard knocked me out. When I woke up, I was hanging upside down, inside of a jail cell, above some hot coals. After all of that, I spent osme time in their infirmary. I regained my strenght shortly after though, and I'm fine now."

Jadmai made a half sigh, and continued on, "And how I got to that Oasis. I do not think you would believe me. Let me just say that I have never been on a boat, and I came straight from Gulanadur. I heard important things needed to be done, and I aswered the task. I think we failed though..."

Jadmai then stopped and thought for a bit, about why he was alive and being treated so well, "The desert did consume souls, it was the desert, and most of us, if not all, were strangers to that. I guess it is to be expected. Other than that, I don't think we lost many." Lies, lies, lies, but they would probably keep him alive. "Then I was offered a trip here, which I most happily took."

Parmina gasped audibly as he pulled aside his armor to display the scar. She reached up to touch it, but thought better of the move. Even if he had tried to cover his quickness with the dagger he wore she had still noted it out of the corner of her eye and this gave her a pause and then she placed her dainty hand back down in her lap. "That's terrible." She said as he finished the first bit.

After he continued and spoke about what happened at the oasis her eyes darkened - if that was possible. "Why are you lying to me?" She tilted her head to the side slightly and looked at him questioningly. Parmina stood and then walked over to the softly glowing orb. "Did you lie to the Rafao so? If you did then you will be in a great deal of trouble. Not only is he an expert as seeing through deceptions because of the gifts of the Gods, but he is surrounded by priests who specialize in keeping him safe." She turned and looked at him. "Do you wish more harm upon yourself?"

The dark skinned adhiel shook her head. "And he will do worse than just hang you from your feet in a fiery dungeon. I've lived here in the palace for much of my life and he spares none, no matter if they are 'guests' or commoners." The girl was frank, and made no excuses for her leader. "You might as well lie to a God himself!"

Jadmai stepped off the bed, and onto the floor looking at the girl with a slight tilt to his head, "Lied to to you about what?" He said quite to the point. "If you already knew the answer to the question then I see no reason for you to ask. Are you looking for confirmation of information that you are not allowed to know?"

Jadmai sighed, and went to his backpack, fully aware of why he was still alive, and planned on keeping it that way. He took his backpack, onto one of the desks, and dumped it a big plop, a few articles of clothing a, and few small blades.

"And I do not see how I could lie to the Rafao. I have not been anywhere in the world but Gulanadur, except for the past three or four days. What would I know about his kindoms and the goings on inside of it, that I could possible lie about."

"I know my station, Parmina."

"No, I don't know what happened. I can see the lie in your eyes. Untruths weigh heavy on the soul and it shows." She turned back to watch Jadmai begin to unpack his small number of belongings from the pack.

"I do not know what you would lie to him about, but I just figured if you were his guest there was a reason for it..." Parmina shrugged. "Perhaps I assumed incorrectly."

"I know my station, Parmina." She wasn't sure if that was his own comment or meant as an insult to her about not knowing her own place. Either way she sought the shiney floor for answers where she could see the reflection of her own pretty face.

"My apologies, I did not mean to insinuate about your standings or place of station. Maybe now that you are free of Gulanadur you will not be tied down by that hierarchy."

Jadmai looked through his things and cave small sigh, realizing that he didn't own much.

"I am a guest for a reason, and I assume that it is that I don't go around answering questions like the one you just asked. If you ever want details as to what happened after I arrived here on this isle, all but the last day will come from me. You will have to find answers somewhere else for that day."

Jadmai stood in silence for a bit, slightly biting his lower lip, "I meant I know my station here. I know why a lone dark elf is being treated like a royal guest--I may have been raised on the roads of the Gulanadur's bazaar, but I do have common sense. I'm alive, because I am supposed to be. And that is all."

Jadmai walked over to the bed, and laid half on it, and looked up at the ceicling lights, "There is no reason to apologize, Parmina." He laughed, for the first time in some time, in fact he couldn't really remember the last time, "Honestly, I am just cranky. I get uprooted from my home, and tossed into desolate sands, and a burning sun, without a clue how to survive. I don't know...at least I got to see the moon. It is as beautiful as I have heard. I'm just a little edgy, my apologies, you have been a great hostess."

Jadmai sat up, "Speaking of hostess, is there anyway I can get some more desert friendly clothes." He then undid his armor and let it flop onto the floor, revealing the large scar again. "Boiled leather, just does not feel right out here. And since I am out seeing the world, I would like to buy a few things."

Parmina nodded as he spoke. "Thank you for the compliment, Master Jadmai. I like to think of myself a decent hostess." She smiled and moved over toward the bed once again. "Hmmm... clothes. I could go get something more comfortable for you to change into. Here in the desert it is best to wear light colored clothing as Uphuron's gaze seems to pass you by. In black it is as if his hot stare is stuck on you as you pass through the streets."

"There is no need for you to buy those clothes though, I shall retrieve them from one of the rooms. We have more than enough to clothe you."

Stepping forward she looked at the scar once again, then her eyes darted upwards to meet his icy grey gaze. "You have so many other scars as well..." She glanced down at his strong arms and shoulders. "Are there wars in Gulanadur?" Parmina may have the blood of an adhiel from Gulanadur in her veins, but she knew nothing of their ways.

"Wait, don't answer that, let me go get your clothes. I will be back in just a flicker." She turned and headed for the door. For a brief flash the room was filled with the light from the hallway, but she closed the door immediately after she slipped through. Outside there was the sound of her soft voice clashing against that of the subordinate guard who seemed irritated by her sudden arrival. "Oh, just leave me alone!" Her voice was muffled by the wall between them, but her point was clear. Suddenly there was silence in the hallway once again and Jadmai was left to sit alone in the somewhat dark room with his own thoughts.

Jadmai did sit in thought for a moment, about the tone that Parmina took with the guard. He obviously needed to be hugged more as a child or something, he was being surly since Jadmai meant him.

Jadmai sigh largely and shook his head.

Trouble, trouble, trouble.

Jadmai went to the door, and touched the handle. Then turned the handle and pulled on it suddenly, but softly and quickly released his hand, to make it seem as if the door was opening itself. Then he slid behind the shadow of the door and leaned up against the wall.

He turned his head away from the door and tried to make it sound like he was talking from somewhere else in the room. "What's ya problem?" He said in human. "Do not like guarding dark little fellows?"

Jadmai rolled his eyes, and went in elven, "Or something else making have a temper tantrum?"

"I - uh.. what?" He obviously didn't understand the elvish, but rather stood staring into the black abyss. The guard's eyes were not properly accustomed to the darkness within because of his time in the hallway, so he stared blankly forward trying to guage where the dark elf was.

"I don't care who I guard.. I just don't like babysitting." He said with an edgy attitude. "And I don't care if you are the Rafao's guest - I don't care if he sent you up here with his most talented and expensive whore - doesn't matter to me, I just want my coin at the end of the day. You, my short dark little friend, are a means to an end." He shrugged, but still squinted his dark eyes in search of where the voice came from.

"What does it matter to you anyway? And if we are gonna keep talking then why don't you slither out from whatever shadow you are hiding behind. I don't want to play games - hence why I don't like babysitting..."

He sighed. "It isn't my job to keep you entertained, just safe."

Jadmai furrowed his eyebrows a bit trying to understand the human as best he could, but the tone of the man was more of what he was concerned with.

"I am sorry, my human is terrible. All I know of what you said is, 'Whine, whine, whine, whore, blah, blah, blah.' Pfft." Jadmai shook his head and though for a moment about what else was said.

"No, I a liar. I know 'whore'. You a whore too. But no one wants to have sex with you, so you whore killing. All the same. Mmm, and yes, you are my whore. Now, it is your job to entertain me. Else I get bored, and go running about outside, make you earn your money like a good whore. So stop acting like a little girl who did not get a pony for their birthday, when you do your duty. It pisses me off. You piss me off, I run around cause trouble, make you play toy solider. You get some honor, I make life easy. Hmm?"

Jadmai was now leaning up against the wall trying not to chuckle, but decided to poke his head around the doorway, "I am glad we had this time to take--talk, thank you my little solider."

With that, he slowly swung the door shut, and threw himself on the bad, entertained for the time being.

As his face poked out from behind the door the guard's face showed how shocked he was by Jadmai's words. He was actually so surprised that he couldn't even think of anything to say in response to the dark elf's commentary. It wasn't until the door shut and left the guard alone in the hall that he began to think of things he should have said in response to the adhiel's speech, but by then he was too late.

The soft bed greeted Jadmai's form with compliance as the down stuffed mattress conformed to the shape of his body. The blanket was soft and light, probably made of silk from Pan's Isle that rubbed gently against his bare chest.

From out in the hallway he could hear the soft sound of footsteps, perhaps no one but him would have noticed it, no doubt a human wouldn't. Soon the door opened into the dark room and Parmina stepped inside. "What did you say to him?" She asked as she walked in with her arms ladened with outfits. The tone of her voice suggested a sort of awe in his ability to bring respect from the beligerant guard. "Well, here are all the clothes I could carry." The desert adhiel smiled and brought the bundle over to the bed where she plopped it down. The many fabrics were of varying muted tans and whites. "This is probably the most comfortable if you are looking for something to sleep in..." Parmina picked out a light green pair of breeches with a loose fit as well as a long shirt of the same linen. She handed them over to him. "Do you want me to draw you a bath or should I just give you a moment to change? I can leave if you want."

Jadmai pursued his lips as Parmina mentioned a bath, he then took in a big breath of air while extending his arm. "Oh, yes, a bath would not only be welcomed, but is throughly needed." Jadmai laughed, "Probably why you mentioned it."

Jadmai layed there looking up at the speckled pieces of light, "You do not have to leave, just no overt peeking."

Again he relaxed for sometime, waiting for a the bath to be readied.

"Oh, the guard, we had some small talk about one's duties. Interesting to see how they varies from Gulanadur society, though I suppose many things do. Why did he seem pensive?" Jadmai asked hiding a small smirk.

Parmina laughed softly at his jest of why she suggested the bath, but then it turned into louder laughter as he put on the tag of no peeking. "Alright, I'll try to hold back." She grinned and walked away, shaking her head all the while, to the dark corner of the room. "There is a door handle here somewhere..." She fumbled around in the pitch black for a flicker before a narrow passage swung open. "Ha, there!" The adhiel seemed quite pleased with herself at having found the door.

Stepping into the adjacent room Jadmai could hear the sound of a tap of water running. After a few burns the sound stopped and then there was a loud hissing sound from the tiled room. From inside the bathroom a soft glowing light probably from another covered lantern like the one in the bedroom lit up as Parmina added salts to the steamy water. "Alright, it's all set whenever you are Master Jadmai." She called to him from the echoy tiled chamber. Her voice sounded melodic with the accoustics of the room to aid her.
