Mouthie Gambit: Unfair Peace or Rightous War [Sam 29th, TT]

"Yes, I believe so," Rosalie said pleasantly, assuming it was one of many goals, though Ulder had not mentioned it. She filed it under interesting things to ask of the Purple Guard captain. "I trust you will award the group well." If the Citadel didn't, the Mouth would was her message, which in turn would give them much loyalty to Rose, and none to Andolin. She smiled sweetly as she said it.

The guard came blundering in spilling his story. A man dead in the Thaumaturgist office. Now there is an interesting thing. She filed away the name of the man, his position and the incident in his office. "Looks like magical mayhem is not yet to an end," Rosalie said regretful, giving Andolin an inclination of her head "I was already on my way out. Till we meet again Major Domus." She was deliberately slow leaving the hallway, her eyes alert should she noticed anything else.

The soldier had apparently took the que and stood silently, moving out of Rosalie's way and bowing to her as she left. The room outside was pretty much as it were when she entered, minus one guard who was currently in the Major Domos' office. It was only once she was in the ahll that she came across a heavily built man, wearing the same white and black unifrom of the guards, but with stripes on his sleeve. She migth recognize him as Sergeant Preston Summers, acting commander of the Imperial Guards.

He was moving towards Lord Azarins office with haste, then stopped as he saw her, his eyes narrowing for a flicker, before he nodded to Madam Consul and passed her on his way. He said not a word, moving to the office she had vacated mere flickers ago. Without pausing he passed by the stammering clerk and pushed his way into the office, closing the door behind him. One lok sent the soldier out and he waited till the man left before speaking. "Sir. We have had an incident. A man attacked one of my guards and we can't track him down. I would like to assign escorts to every higher ranked official till we cna locate him. With your permission of course."

Rosalie gave the sergeant a gracious nod, before filling out of the Citadel and with a sigh returning to the Embassy. Upon her return she made sure to send a dispatch to Kaspar about the incident, so that he was aware. She left it to him to investigate or not. The Consul was a busy woman and there were so many things to arrange.

[Andolin]

"Tell me more of this incident Sargent," Andolin urged. "Where was he? What was he doing? What makes you think he is trying to hurt senior officials?" The flurry of questions came forth since he assumed that Preston would not come to him if this was some minor assailant.

"Yes, assign a soldier to each dignitary." Then a sly smile appeared. "I will expect the escort to note where each person goes and who he speaks with." An excellent excuse to spy.

The Sergeant nodded at the orders and then looked uneasy for a section of a flicker. "The man sought you, sir. I don't know if it was just an excuse, but he distinctly asked for you at the gates. Said he was Father Pulo, of the Legion Purificatio. Looked dangerous so the Corporal sent a man with him. Half way to your office he turned on my man and attacked. Incapacitated him with a blow to the throat and disappeared. The lad will be fine, but we can't find him anywhere. My men are searching the palace so we will find him. No doubt about that. The palace will be safe by tomorrow's Council, sir. I promise."

[Andolin]

Was this one of the Mouthie priests that Rosalie had promised? It was a shame that she was not still around to question.

"Though I might have seen him peacefully, now that he has attacked a guard, he must be arrested. I shall make a query with the Western Embassy. See if you can catch the Lady Rosalie who just left. If not, I shall write her a note," he instructed. She cannot have gone far.

Sergeant nodded and left with a crisp salute, having received his orders. He could have sent a soldier to do the task, but it was on his way and closing the door carefully he was off. With a crisp walk he should be able to catch up with Madam Consul though if she took the direct route to the gates it was quite possible that he would miss her. It was but half a mark later that a note found its way to Andolin's desk informing him that Lady Lo Russo had already left by the time Sergeant made it to the gates.

It was a full two tides later that he was informed, again in the form of a letter, that Father Pulo had been found dead. Apparently he had found his way into the office of Imperial Thaumaturgist and attacked Master Ginneke who had been forced to use deadly force and killed the Inquisitor with a spell.
