Jadmai looked around curiously as he heard the sounds, again something he wasn't used too. He followed Parmina and looked at the bath, and nodded quite impressed.

"That's neat." He said scurrying quickly over to grab the clothes Parmina had procured. Jadmai then returned to the bath almost a run, at the last second undoing his britches and kicking them out the door. "No peeky!" He repeated with his bare bottom revealed in the dark room. He then half jumped into the tub.

Settling at the bottom, he let out a soft groan of relaxation, which was only noticed on the surface by bubbles. He stayed under water for as long as he could, and probably out of view, only to be re-emerge, by the soft fountian that Jadmai produced from water in his mouth, pushed through his teeth.

'Bath time's a fun time,
To get rid of,
A month's grime.

Bath time's a great help,
To see if I'm,
A dark or just dirty elf'

Jadmai sang a little impromtu bath tub song to himself softly, as he scrubbed himself throughly. He dunked his head a few times and scrubbed his hair, rather short mostly for most elves, save for the front bangs which cascaded down his cheek bones, other than that his hair was close cropped, and took little washing.

Jadmai then stood up quickly and looked at the water, "Water, much darker now. Must have been dirt, for I am still rather dark." Jadmai looked around. "Ah, clothes, one can forget those in this inferno."

Jadmai slipped on the loose fitting clothing and looked at questioningly, "Hard to hide daggers in here, hmm."

He looked down at himself in these much baggier clothes than he was used to, "I look bigger. That's nice. Thank you, Parmina. Not only am I clean, but menacingly large. Grr."

Parmina nodded in response to his thanking her. "No problem, I'll leave you to take your bath." She disapeared from the bathing room as he stripped down and jumped in. The water was soothing and warm. Jadmai didn't take long to find out what had been the sizzling hiss noise, there were hot rocks, no doubt from the fireplace on the opposite side of the room, settling on the bottom of the tub and warming it with their fiery presence. A bar of soap sat within close reach of the adhiel's grasp and within a short time he was clean and able to escape the now gray water.

Parmina was busily putting away the extra clothes into the dresser against the wall in the bedroom as he entered and thanked her again. She was about to respond with another 'no problem' but his little grr brought a smile too wide to her face to allow her to even try. "I heard you singing in the tub." Parmina tried not to smile, instead she washed a straight face over her. "I suppose living out in an Oasis for a while will leave one withouth a bath. I would be just as inspired I think." At this she finally allowed a smile to crack.

"So, what does one *do* in Gulanadur exactly? All the things I heard from my mother about it were pretty negative, but I'm sure there must be something good about it." Parmina folded the last shirt and put it in the top drawer before walking over the bed and sitting down.

Jadmai listened to Parmina's last question, and he sat on the bed propping himself up against the pillows.

"Well, it's not entirely different in Gulanadur. Besides living underground...but people can live normal lives. Raise families. The number of merchant houses, and noble houses compared to the number of elves in Gulanadur cause for quite a bit of...intense...competetion."

Jadmai rubbed his brow, with the palm of his hand. "I suppose maybe you heard more about my type of life. Most of it I spent living on the bazaar, and I do mean on it. Usually find a nice quiet alley, and roll up my cloak. There are others who do the same, so it's not entirely lonesome. But, in the morning, I would try find work, to earn bread for the day. Some menial task, but coin, is coin."

"That's basicly been my life until right before I left Gulanadur, I was about to move up a little, but instead, I'm sitting here on a big comfy bed."

Jadmai raised his eyebrows, "My how things can change in a few days. The last time I was alone with someone, they tried to kill me. Now, I am in the same situation it seems, but I feel like you don't mean me harm. It's just an odd adjustment."

Jadmai shook his head, "Sorry, I was babbling there. Life in Gulanadur, is not much different from anywhere else. We have our pros and cons."

With that Jadmai swallowed lightly, and then shrugged, thinking he didn't do so well at answering the question.

"Yes, I suppose everywhere does have it's ups and downs." There was a slight hesitation in her voice as she said this, as if she knew it far too well but from the standpoint of a citizen of Amun Rah.

"But do not apologize, I asked. I want to know about it. That is a part of my heritage I know very little about." She shrugged loosely. "I heard that it can be very beautiful though, the darkness of it, but there is are sources of light, like things that glow, right?" Parmina seemed to be digging into her mental reserve, pulling out small nuggets of knowledge that had been passed onto her.

"We don't have to talk about that if you don't want to. What do you plan to do now? I heard Ionis.." She caught her casual use of his name and coughed lightly. "The Rafao, stating you would be leaving the palace to visit the city. Abu`Sahir is beautiful, but nothing compares to the wonder of the lake Mu At at night, when the bright light of Anasis is rising over it." She smiled. "It is amazing."

Jadmai gave a small smile, "I don't mind talking about anything, I have no regrets, and have done nothing that I be shamed to admit."

Jadmai, nodded slowly, "Ah..." as if understanding the question about Gulanadur now. "Well, yes, of course we have beautiful light. In fact, ironicly, it is always light out in Gulanadur. A river, tubed in some type of crystal--I am not knowledgeable of these things--gives off a purple hue. This encased river runs all through Gulanadur giving both water and light to all regions of our City Kingdom." The way Jadmai emphasized our, it was obvious he included Parmina as well.

"The city is great basin, with something like a mini-mountain in the center. It is where the nobles live, and there houses of stone seems as if they are alive. Those of our hertigage have leared to work with stone by the means of magic, making the structures quite awe inspiring."

Jadmai nodded towards Parmina as if to see if that was more what she was looking for.

"Abu'Shair--Abu-Shar...um...sorry, the name eludes me a bit. But yes, I have been no where but Gulanadur, and I figure it would be a crime not to see one of the grand cities of another...well world almost. And Mu-At, does sound lovely indeed. Never seen such a body of water before, that alone will be worth the sight. Though just about everywhere I look lately I see amazing sights." Jadmai finished as thought of the castle, and this room, and the people he had met.

Parmina was slightly spell bound by Jadmai's description of the underground river. "It sounds beautiful." She said, with lack of a better description for such a sight. "I should like to see it someday, not that I expect to ever leave Amun Rah or my servitude, but still, it sounds amazing."

"There is magick here in Abu`Sahir as well." The adhiel pronounced the name of the city slower this time. "The entire palace is made from golden sand that was heated to be smooth like glass. That is why it is so beautiful."

"But the lake is probably the most gorgeous sight of all. It is about a two days trip on camel back, less on a horse, but it is worth it. Perhaps you could convince the Rafao to allow you leave of the city to see it before you venture onward. But for now do you want me to leave you to rest? No doubt you've had a tiring journey so far. I wouldn't want to keep you up with my constant blathering."

Jadmai looked down thoughtfully for a second, "I did not think he would keep me from leaving, if I had a proper escort." Jadmai bit his lip softly he did not like knowing he could not leave a place on his whim, it was something he vauled greatly.

"You are not blathering, I enjoy the conversation. But I am indeed tired. This is about the time I lay myself down to rest. And I try to wake up during the hours of twilight...then I am up all night, but that is how my day works. I would like to wake when the city is still somewhat lively, yet calmed a little. I don't know how well, I will be recieved."

Jadmai scooted down on the bed, so that his head rested on the pillows know. He instantly started to relax.

"If I have the power to suggest, that my honourable guard, get something to eat, and rest, I would like to for his own benefit. He shall have a long night."

"Will you wake, at the time I asked?"

"I'm sure only for your own protection, Master Jadmai." Parmina stood from the bed as he relaxed into a more comfortable position. "I will inform him that he should eat and relax for a few marks. The Rafao will send up another guard in his stead until you are ready to leave."

"If you send for me then I would be much obliged to join you for a tour of the city." The adhiel smiled. "I will take my leave now, and go get some rest myself. I'm more of a nightowl like you. Perhaps that is my bit of Gulanadur adhiel showing through."

With that she walked to the light and blew gently into the softly glowing orb to extinguish the flame. Once more he was left in utter darkness, from under the door to the bathroom a slight crease of light spilled forth, and was barely noticable.

"Sleep well Master Jadmai." Parmina said as she slid out the door into the hallway. From in the hallway the dark adhiel could hear her voice as she told the guard to get some rest before they left. He seemed to grunt in agreement with her, but didn't leave his position, he would wait for his replacement. Parmina's gentle footsteps walked down the hall to the stairs where he lost the sound.

For several marks Jadmai slept peacefully. The bed was soft and comforting and conformed to his body as he rested. Outside the sun moved across the sky until it reached the opposite horizon from the one it had risen from. The heavens darkened with the blood of those who had fallen in the battle and was rimmed with crimson, though Jadmai could not tell from the sanctuary of the dark bedroom. The bathroom, off of his room, had a single window in it, though it was covered by a drapery.

Jadmai awoke some what suddenly, he must have pulled a blanket over him while he was asleep, and kicked it off quickly.

It was pitch black and it took him sometime to remember where he was.

"That's right, I'm just inside the palace, of the man, whose army just ran down a couple thousand elves...with a guard outside my door. That easily slips the mind.

Jadmai shook his head, and slowly got up. He started to walk towards where he thought the door was, taking small steps and holding out his hands, until he could feel the door knob, and swing open the door, like he had done before.

Not looking outside the door, but standing off to the side of it he let the light pour in.

"Hello, guard. I'm awake." He said with a false sense of cheerfulness in his voice. He used the light from the outside the room, to find his own clothes, including his armor. He quickly changed, setting the loose clothes on the bed, and tucked his blades underneath his armor.

Then he sat on the corner of the bed, letting himself wake up, and looked towards the light.

"Time to turn me loose." He said, then bit down on his lower lip.

As the dark adhiel stumbled out into the hallway he would find it empty. His second guard had either wandered off or never arrived. In any event there was no one positioned outside of his room as was supposed to be. Up in the tucked away hallway Jadmai could detect no sounds, even with his keen hearing.

Here where there were several windows he could easily tell that the bright afternoon was past and dark red streaked across the sky in wispy clouds that caught the burning light as the sun crept beyond the horizon. Silence clung to the dry air around him. There was only the single hallway that lead down the few flights of stairs to the giant entryway. He could see several torches flickered down the stairwell.

Ah, dammit. Things were just going too well. Jadmai luck.

Jadmai walked to the doorway, and leaned up against the wall slightly dismayed, "Nothing can ever go smoothly." He muttered under his breath.

Jadmai slowly walked out into the hallway, knowing that he was up in a secluded section of the palace, he felt safe stepping out, but the torches below made him wonder.

The little dark elf had no idea what to think of himself suddenly being alone, but he didn't want to stay where everyone knew he was. He also wasn't overly found of being bathed in light.

Getting as close as he could to the wall, he scurried down the stairs as fast as he could, and tried to rip one of the torches down of the wall. If he would manage to do so, he would try to throw it all the way down the stairs to illuminate what, if anything was waiting for him.

The torch slid out of that which held it easily enough, as it was a removable torch. Tossing it down into the next landing proved to be of little help though, as there was nothing there, only more emptiness, more silence. The light continued to burn for a few flickers until it blacked out, though there was no lack of illumination down the stone corridor of stairs. Every few feet there was another torch, and even on the landing there were standing candles, which luckily the dark elf didn't hit with his spastic tossing of burning objects, or this might've turned into a bigger ordeal.

Below him, echoing through the sandstone walls, there was a yell - a scream truthfully and it sounded as if it were a woman. It was a person screaming out though, and they were calling for help. There was a pleading, and as his sharp ears honed in in the sound he might be able to pinpoint it to the left side of the landing which was not the direction he had come from when ascending the many stairs.

Once more the voice sounded through the halls. It resonated with the tone he had heard as the troops of Ionis's men attacked the elves. The women who were caught in the crossfire had screamed in such a manner. They had feared for their lives.

Jadmai watched with the torch flicker out with a stupid look on his face.

"Smooth." He said descending the stairs a bit more.

Then he heard the outcry. Tilting his head he knew that he had not come from this part of the castle, but he did his best to follow the voice.

Bolting down the stairs as fast, but as softly as he could, he grabbed each torch he came across and tried to suffocated them quickly while still moving.

It wasn't the soundest of plans, but he was preparing in his mind to face a fully trained solider, doing some more slaughtering. He could stand blow, for blow with that. He would rather have both of them blinded by darkness.

As swift as he could be carried he moved along, extinguishing the torches, and making his way towards the screaming, in between torches, he would pull out his stiletto, and continue to look for the source of distress.

As Jadmai made his way down the stairs, extinguishing torches as he went, he was soon being enveloped by the darkness. There were no windows in the hall.

Once more, as he reached the bottom of the left hand staircase, he heard the yelling, luring him toward the only room where light spilled forward into the hallway. All the other rooms seemed unoccupied. "No, please stop. Please..." The woman continued to plead as the sound of the crack of a whip cut through the air. It snapped loudly and for a flicker there was no other sound, until her crying began. It was a quiet and hopeless sort of sobbing, as if she expected no reprieve.

"SHUT UP!" It was then Jadmai heard the hard human voice yell in common to the crying girl. He wouldn't have really given much thought to the language he spoke unless he internally noticed his growing ability to go between elvish and human. The woman who had been begging for safety was crying out in elvish, and this tormenter reprimanded her in his own tongue.

The door leading into the room where all this was occuring was only about ten steps away from where Jadmai was now. If he was going to make a move he would still have the darkness on his side until he reached the room itself, where, for now, it was hard to tell where the source of light came from.

Jadmai stood stoicly looking at the situation before him. He knew that he was blanked by darkness, but he could not see, inside.

He looked around for more torches, but that would just cause more attention. Instead, he put himself up against the wall, like he did earlier with the guard he was pestering.

Once he got close enough we he feared that he might be caught, he decided that it was time to find out he is that room. Waiting for a bit of silence, he took a deep breathe and attempted to throw his voice like before.

Turning his head down the hall, and trying to use his best human accent he screamed, "HEY!!!" In hopes that some would come to investigate.

His disguised voice carried through the hall and bellowed into the chamber where the screams eminated from. There was a momentary respite in which the snapping of the whip and the crying halted. Jadmai could only hear the echo of his own oddly human sounding voice resounding around him.

The thud of heavy feet stomped toward the doorway, and a short and heavy set man in his forties stumbled out into the darkness of the expanse. His long shadow cast against the opposite wall of the hallway and the definate outline of the long whip could be seen. Blindly the long dark haired man made his way out into the hall looking for the creator of the voice that had disturbed him during his business.

"Who's out here? Show yourself coward!" He growled. "You're no better than a dark adhiel hiding in the shadows."

Jadmai knew he was all but spotted, still leaned against the wall, he did his best to quickly yet smoothly pull out one of his daggers. He tried to wait until the man walked near enough, where his elven sight would outmatch the mans human sight, and throwing a dagger would give him a close target.

With a dagger now in one hand and stilhetto in the other. Jadmai quickly but as controlled as he could launched the dagger as hard as he could, but as accurately as possible at the mans throath.

Reguardless of it's effect he would run along the wall, following his dagger in flight with his stiletto to finish the job, or if the throw was bad, use it as a distraction.

The throw was strong enough, but the accuracy could've used some work. However, it did hit the man in the tender spot directly below his collar bone in the meat of the shoulder. The thin blade dug into the flesh of the whip carrying man, and the sudden attack caught him off guard. Reeling, he turned to face the darkness in which his lone attacker hid. He stood in the wash of light from the room and as Jadmai ran forward he soon found himself in the bright light of the candles.

The whip master swung his good, and uninjured, arm around his head once to gain speed and then a second time. The crack of the whip was the last thing Jad heard before his world started to spin and he found himself on his ass being dragged forward by his ankle. Reaching to his side the human pulled a scythe from his waiste and lifted it in the air. The weapon arked downward, he aimed for the dark adhiel's chest.

In the blur of the moment while Jadmai was dragged forward he was faced with a plethora of information that surrounded him. Inside the room there was a fireplace where most of the light came from, however there was also a single candleabra standing tall right next to the door, with a lit candle atop of it. The sound of the whimperings and crying had stopped and within the space Jad could see the outline of a curvy girl as she scurried around looking for her clothes. Blood streaked across her back in the places where she had been whipped.

It was difficult to see her though, in the brightness of the room. Inside, she turned and faced her would-be rescuer and froze. "Master Jadmai?" The voice rung inside the dark adhiel's head. Parmina hesitate unsure of what to do. It was then she made a decision that she wouldn't ever be able to take back. Running over to the fireplace she grabbed a bucket of water meant for a bath and tipped it into the flames, washing them all in darkness. Now the only source of light was a single candle creating a warm bubble of illumination of the doorway. The swish of the blade coming closer to Jadmai could be heard in slow motion as he had to decide how to continue.

This man had man the mistake that Jadmai would only carry one blade on him at anytime. One would think, that as pulled the hidden blade from under his armor, that he would immedatily cut the tie that bound him, but instead, he used the moment of hot water to quickly pull the whip towards him, and use it as support to pull his agile self up, and slightly to the side.

In this one motion he hoped to regain his footing, and avoid the death blow. And with the darkness know that wrapped around him in a blanket, he would again go for the jugular. As soon as that thrust failed or succeded, he would take his stiletto, and thrust into the sword holding arm.

The dark shroud made the man as good as blind. As Jadmai pulled on the whip he assumed he was trying to struggle to get away, not that he was pulling himself up. A wet and strangled yell roared from the large man's mouth as the stilleto found it's way to his neck and cut off the blood supply to his brain. The long curved scythe clattered to the floor and the sound of it was soon followed by the thud of the body.

Jadmai could feel the tightness of the whip around his ankle loosen up as the slack was let up by the impossing corpse which now littered the hallway of the Desert King's Palace.

"By Anasis... you killed him..." Jadmai hadn't even heard her footsteps, but there was Parmina, standing in the soft glow of the candle, her face stained with tears that were more stark against her skin because of the kohl that she lined her eyes with was laced into the salty streaks. She had wrapped a silk robe around her body and she stood leaning her shoulder against the doorway, one foot crossed infront of the other, her bare legs looking smooth and muscular. "Thank you." She said, looking up at Jadmai. Her arms were crossed under her breasts. "But now we are both as good as dead. He was a diplomat here by invitation of the Rafao."

Jadmai's jaw literally dropped, "Oh, shhhh..." he shook his head, "it didn't seem like that was the case. I thought you were being harassed by a guard."

Jadmai looked around for a moment trying to think, he then grabbed the attackers blade pushed aside his armor slightly, and gave him a long but shallow cut along his side, and placed the blade back into diplomats hands.

"Damn that isn't going to do it. How many exits lead out of here? And how high up is my room? Where is my first guard? If anything, are there any boats leaving this place, you can stay if you want, but I have to leave."

Jadmai was deeply scared for himself of course, and Parmina. He asked where he could getrid of this stiletto, and if there was place to hide the body.

"You would kill a guard that was harassing me?" Parmina asked him, the notion was sweet, but the thought of the guard from before popped in her mind and she wondered what the full-blooded dark adhiel might've said to him that made him behave so nicely.

"Well... harassment is an understatement." She looked down at the body and held her arms around herself tightly. One of her lips was beginning to swell as if she had been punched in the mouth.

"But, it doesn't matter what happens to me. I'm a slave, Jadmai. The Rafao owns me." She sniffed somewhat loudly as the last of her crying fit ebbed away. "This sort of thing happens all the time. Diplomats come from far and wide to visit the Desert King, and they expect certain, uhm.. pleasantries?"

"Why don't we bring him back here in his room for now." She suggested. "Just until we figure out what to do... as for your stiletto..." Parmina shrugged and then winced. "Uhm. I'm not sure." Kneeling down to pick up the man's discarded weapons Jadmai could see the wet blood soaking through her thin robe from her back. She was wounded, and fairly badly at that. The whip carrying man had shown her no remorse. Standing back up with the stiletto, scythe, and whip in her hands she steadied herself against the doorframe. "Oh... I'm kind of dizzy." She shook her head and closed her eyes as her vision doubled.

Jadmai was having some real moral issues.

Why do I even step in?

It was not the sort of thing he would have done five days ago, would have left her to her fate. Now he had stepped in and done something, right? Just?

"I don't know. Parmina, I guess I would stop anyone from harming you or anyone...I guess."

Jadmai ran both his hands through his hair and let out a quick breath as looked towards Parmina. "Parmina, I need to stay conscious for just a second. Are there torches...can you make it real bright in there? That's all you have to do. Then go try to make it to my room, I'll be right behind you, and I'll help you up, but you just have to do that for me first. And give that stuff."

He just grabbed the weapons from her. He cleaned his blade off on the mans clothes. Then hopefully out of Parmina's sight he would take the own mans blade and make some superfical wounds on him, as if he was in a sword fight. Then he would hurriedly dragged the man back into his room.

"Parmina, keep your head away."

He paused for a second knowing she would probably turn, once she heard her name, then after she was sure she wasn't looking, starting in where he had planted the fatal wound, he took the sword, and drew deeply across the neck.

He then looked up to see if Parmina had actually moved.

"Ok... make it light." After Jadmai took the weapons from him she grabbed the candle from inside the door and walked into the hall where the torches had been dimmed. With cautious steps she placed the long thin candle near the wall sconces and re-lit the lights along the hallway. Just as she was returning the candle to make it seem as if it hadn't been moved she heard her name, and froze, as instructed.

The body was heavy, he was a muscled man, and dead weight was always more weighty than that of a person trying to help. As Jadmai brought the body inside and began to mutilate the cooling corpse, he would note a lack of blood compared to that which the first wound procured. Already his body had stopped, and so now only the least congealed of the red life bringing liquid spilled out into the air to solidify. The meat of his neck was easily cut by the sharp blade, and Jadmai was face with the innerworkings of the human throat. The wide tube that air and food followed to reach the inner body was exposed for the adhiel to see, as well as the two arteries on either side of it where the blood came out most thickly. Muscle and fat had been sliced cleanly through, and had he been a student of medicine this might've been an interesting cadavor to work upon.

Parmina didn't know what Jadmai was doing, but, if he told her she shouldn't see it, then she agreed, and so mutely she closed her eyes and placed the candle back in it's spot. Turning on her heels she headed down to the end of the corridor and grabbed the torches Jadmai had pulled from their spots on the walls of the stairs, and she lit one to bring with her as she placed the others back in their respective spots.

Slowly the achadiel made her way up the steps, her mind was fuzzing as she moved, and her blood was oozing out of the cuts. Lightheadedness was getting the better of her as she reached the top of the steps and leaned against the wall, leaving a red smear of blood in her wake. Her feeble grasp caught hold of the corner of the wall as she peered around it to make sure there was no guard coming. Relief washed over her small form as she slowly made her way toward the adhiel's room. The dark haired slave wanted the safety of the darkness of Anasis inspired space.

Bleed you oversized freak.

Jadmai thought as he noticed a lack of blood from the cuts.

He quickly looked around and then shrugged, as he jumped with both of his feet onto the man's chest. He then tried to make sure he wasn't covered with blood from that desperate act.

Covering his eyes as the room grew bright he made his way quickly to the stairs. He would try to catch up to Parmina, and put her over his shoulder and try to carry her up the stairs to his room.
