UNIVERSITY OF MAGICKS MAKES IMPORTANT DISCOVERY: PORTALS

While the limited use of portals (magickal devices that use the Aether to transport persons from location A to location B in mere burns) was already known as part of the Pecunia temples the mages at the UoM made a startling discovery in their famous library: the secret of making new portals. Rather than using old and deficient systems from the Ancient Ones it is now possible to create portals at any place that is convenient, provided the funds are available for the source material. The discovery has been reported to the Imperial Council for further use.

Research has shown that the use of the Aether is not entirely without risk. Some mages have discovered rips in the seams of reality, allowing the Aether and the Nether acces to our reality, also called the Tether. It has been suggested that in dreams especially, people will be vulnerable to influences from other planes.

Said one researcher "We have not see so many interferences from the Nether since the Great Battle, and they now occur at an ever increasing rate. The threat of larger creatures escaping and creating an event that will make the Great Battle pale in comparison is almost inescapable if nothing is done about it."

When asked about the risk to travellers using the portals that use the Aether the anonymous researcher replied, "Of course in addition to the risks stated, there may be minor discomfort to a traveller, and we would recommend that to avoid other possible complications travellers leave some time between portal journeys".

This of course begs the question if portals are a safe way to travel. "Again there are risks in any journey, you cannot guarentee a ship will not sink for example, but we are confident if you follow the guidlines, you will reach you destination safely, most of the time".

The researcher refused to answer any further questions quoting important work to do and returned to the university.
