Nu'Phuat frowned at Rosalie's question, hesitating a flicker, using the dance steps as a perfect excuse to formulate a diplomatic reply. "I fear the information we have been getting from the north is unreliable at best, though it seems the disturbance was local in character. Trothgard was a closed society and outside influence would have to be very subtle and quite powerful to have such an enormous effect. It is likely that the problem was brewing for a long time and was kept under control until recently." he paused and then added in a lower tone. "I think the death of late Caesar Anochrim could have played a role in the recent events. A lady from the north was supposed to marry His Majesty, but he preferred male company. Imagine what signals that sent to the males in Trothgard."

Had His Majesty only expressed a desire for a homely girl, Master Belish would surely have been able to find a girl that would satisfy Caesar's taste, but sadly he was not a mindreader, and had never given His Majesty a chance to even suspect that. The girl looked down at his question and smiled shyly, rosy blush covering her cheeks. "Oh, I was not worried you would harm me, Your Majesty. I just.... Well, this is my first dance and you have honored me and my family greatly. And.... I am afraid I would trip or fall or make a fool of myself." She looked up into his eyes for the first time and smile warmly. "I fear I am quite clumsy, though it seems your presence keeps it under control." She moved through the steps with amazing grace for someone who claimed to be clumsy, gaining some confidence as everything went well, though it was a slow and gradual process. "My grandfather told me a lot about Citadel and I wished to see it myself. And Coronation seemed like a perfect place to start. I plan to stay a few more days and see some of the sights before going back home."

It seemed that Master Belish was in the minority of persons that could not read minds this evening. That was for the best. It had been solely upon impulse that Andolin had crafted his strategy to enhance his image.

As for Nashira, Andolin was indulgent. "I'm happy to honor you and your family. What better way to welcome you to the Citadel?" he laughed lightly as they danced. "For a first dance you show a remarkable amount of grace."

As she announced that she was staying for only a few days, Andolin was relieved. He had dallied with her for image. If she was to return home with stories about what a nice man the Caesar was, that could only help him with Muchilise relations. "If there is something I can do to make your stay more pleasant, let me know. Do you have adequate lodgings?"

He had already decided that their relationhip would be chaste. It was important to demonstrate that the new Caesar could have platonic relationships. In fact, he decided that he would need to dance with several other ladies of no interest to him that evening, just to help demonstrate that he was not a womanizer.

Vanir grinned as he listed to his budding ally. "I am never been much for politics or for magick, but I suppose I have dabbled in both. I do what I do for the protection of my people and there is no extent I wouldn't go to protect the Temple and those who dwell there from harm. However there are many among ranks of Council that do not share my vision, so it is a sad day when I must step in and remove their authority. I have gone to some lengths already for this and even more are in plans. She will whisper little secret, like a bird upon the window. She will promise special favors in return for his endorsements of certain positions. Then I will come speak to him myself and mention my own desires for those same people. If he thinks he can please both of us, thinking each will be indebted to him, for one action, then he will consider it a victory. However, if it were your voice instead of mine, it is certain he would listen."

The priest looked over at the Caesar once more and then back to the beauty next to him. "It is as I said earlier, we have a rather complicated history. You have a much sweeter voice for his ears than I. These seats that need filled are rather unimportant to me in truth, I just want to protect my own interests and eliminate those who have wronged my people already. Tell me who you want in place and I would be most eager to accommodate you." The playful adhiel looked over Isis' body once more, making no attempt to hide his looks. "I could accommodate you in many ways." A small laugh to tease her boundaries.

"Ah, I see," Rosalie smiled, as a sin was indicated that was among the worst in Mouth society. These Imperials were such barbarians. "Still, it is odd to think of a society where ladies rule the roost through more open means. Usually we leave the men to do so in public while we take care of the home." She smiled sweetly, she an obvious exception to that rule. Of course in the Mouth the ladies ruled the familias, but through more subtle means. Not even her father would deny his wife. It was how she expected her marriage to be.

Her eyes wandered to were Isis stood, still talking to the priest. "The Rafao understands, I think, how women can play both roles," she offered softly as she wondered if the adhiel was aware that he was standing rather close, now laughing and giving her significant looks. There was a somewhat ironic smile on the face of Isis who appeared not to react to his signals. That made Rosalie respect her more. One need not be desperate in a position of power after all and she was a married woman. Get your mind out of the gutter Rosalie. Sure you are the only in this throne room thinking of such things. Even Imperials do not think of such things all the time, surely.

Interesting though the evening was, Rosalie was looking for an ending. After this dance she would excuse herself and have her escort hurry her home to her husband. She suddenly longed to be in the safe walls of his mansion.

The girl blushed and lowered her eyes at Andolin's praise, biting her lower lip for a flicker before whispering a barely audible reply. "Th-thank you, Your Highness. I have been taking lesson for yahren. And my grandfather says I inherited his sense of balance, though he explicitly forbade me to test it by enlisting into the navy." She smiled, for the first time showing her teeth, revealing two rows of pearly white teeth, though she was missing her upper left canine as well as half of the tooth next to it. Half a flicker later, her eyes grow wide and the upper lip shifted lower to cover the missing teeth. A moment of uneasy silence followed, before she spoke again. "I have a room at the Embassy. Count has been kind enough to extend his hospitality and last I heard grandfather was to return and resume his position as Ambassador. He proved the allegation against him were false and Lady Marie apologized for recalling him back to Muchislie."

Isis followed Vanir's gaze to Caesar and back, remaining silent throughout his little speech, looking over to the priest and studying his face for a few flickers. "I think I understand, but you are speaking in circles and to be honest it is giving me a headache." Her lips curled in an arrogant smile, head tilting aside, as the woman reached up and picked up an invisible speck off the crimson fabric covering her breasts, smoothing the fabric over the shapely mound, all but making sure it clung well to her skin, showing fully every detail. "I think it best we see each other once you are finally ready to accommodate me fully and not tease me with promises and half-clear offers. I need to know exactly what you can offer, and more importantly what you want in return. I know your services will come at a price, but I need to know what I am getting for the price I pay."

The dance was slowly drawing to a close, though it would be at least a burn more before the music stopped to allow new partners to be chosen. With the central event of the evening taken care off, people were already trickling away, though majority stayed, waiting for His Majesty to leave first. Grand Vizier was not amongst those that left, waiting for Isis to decide when the night was over. "If I may say so, I am not so much surprised by the way Trothgard functioned for so many yahren. Climate is harsh and they depend on trade. Men would be away for months, leaving the women to take care of everything, instead of just their homes. Couple that with the fact their primary deity is of female gender and it seems only natural that women would take over." He smiled as she looked over towards Isis, before adding. "Rafao Ionis knows that our society is dominated by men, and he knows what effect a woman such as his sister has on them. I do not doubt you were chosen as much for your diplomatic skills as you were for your beauty when your city appointed you an Ambassador."

Vanir watched with renewed interest as Isis flaunted her beauty. He knew the show was merely to tease and entice him, but the priest was never one to refuse a lady's desire. He spoke softly, quieter than he had before, hoping he could lure her with one final piece of information.

"Lady Isis, I would be a fool if I did not claim to want a beauty such as yourself. I would find ways to pleasure your body that you had only dreamed of before, yet for once this is not my only want. You have a great deal of influence already, which I will need to complete my goal. Adjourn with me somewhere private, a place with no hidden ears to listen to our whispers and no hidden eyes to spy on us. I will tell you everything I have learned about power and how it is about to change. Then I will tell you all about the man I am going to kill to change it." A wolfish grin spread across his lips.

Andolin pretended not to notice the broken teeth. Zounds. Someone broke her teeth out.

"I had not heard of the allegations against your grandfather," the new Caesar admitted. "Please give him my regards when he returns to the Embassy. In the meantime, it sounds as though you have excellent quarters, so I shall not offer you Imperial hospitality instead. I would expect that your grandfather would rather have you staying with him."

It was all just a polite gesture, of course. He really did not wish her around. It was more important to impress her with his attention so that she would report good things to her grandfather. That was worth a dance. A Caesar needed to take steps to impress the ambassadors from each of the islands.

"Thank you very much for the dance. You are a lovely dancer," he flattered. His smile was formal, but not lacking in warmth. He also bowed to her as they parted.

The dance was over, but Andolin looked to the Steward to see if there were to be more dances. If so, he would need to select another partner. Maybe this time he could find someone more homely, or from another island.

Rosalie couldn't help but laugh, relaxing in the arms of the Grand Vizier "You have noticed that, have you? Well how inconvenient. You are not supposed to notice how clever we are at manipulating the menfolk." She gave him a wink. Yes, they were wise words. It was true. She had been send to persuade the Empire, and she had, far beyond the expectations of Carloni.

"Though to counter your argument I must point out that I was also chosen because of my birth, my father an influential man in the council who needed a reward." She shrugged artlessly "I don't care somebody or something gave me a leg up. The results of what I accomplish shall be purely mine." She smiled. Already she had managed, with the Caesars help, to end the war. Who was there to stop her doing more?

The music stopped and Rosalie made a curtsy. Then her eyes sought out Deacon. Home called.

The dance drew to a close and Andolin's partner lowered her eyes respectively and curtseyed, murmuring her gratitude. "Thank you for your kind offer, Your Majesty. My grandfather will appreciate your will to make my stay in Citadel comfortable." She paused to see if he would escort her from the dance floor, but seeing his gaze directed towards the Steward withdrew quietly, leaving Andolin some privacy as Belish approached. "Your Majesty I think it is time for your first address to your subjects. A small speech about bright future and prosperity would be quite fine. You will need to present your plans to the Council on 27th though, but there is plenty of time for that."

Isis chuckled once more as Vanir admitted he lusted for her, turning to grant him a seductive smile, her lashes forming a thick screen over her eyes. "Not tonight. Tonight is not the time for such discussions. Come see me at the Embassy in the coming days and we will discuss it." She glanced down towards his groin and added, after licking her lower lip. "At length. With no fear of being interrupted or overheard by anyone not loyal to me. Just send word prior to your arrival so I know when to expect you."

Bowing in the fashion of his people, Nu'Phuat offered Rosalie his arm in order to escort her to the coaches, though he was ready to withdraw should she prefer to leave with Deacon. "You were given an opportunity and have proven yourself capable and worthy of trust placed in you through your father's previous efforts. You need a foundation, and yours was somewhat more solid and larger than those given to others."

OOC: I think we ought to bring this to a close. Right after the Caesar delivers his speech. ;)

Given a cue to deliver a speech, Andolin nodded and ascended the throne once again. "Good people. Thank you for coming to this ceremony. Today marks a new page in the history of the Empire. With your aid, it will be one filled with prosperity."

"The war of the Gods has ended. The creatures of darkness have been compelled to return to their own dark places. The fear that we are naught but pawns in some greater game is gone. I intend to usher in an era of tolerance. There will be religious tolerance, racial tolerance, and geographic tolerance. The Empire needs to build. As such, its strength should not be divided against itself, but combined for the greater good."

"We are all citizens of the Empire, regardless of background, and in that title we should take pride. Let us turn our weapons not to the purpose of war, but to the purpose of maintaining law and order -- the protection of our citizens. Let merchants prosper, and their wealth shall fuel our commerce. Let our farmers and herdsmen flourish, and they shall feed us all. In short, let the power of the Council be used to advance prosperity. I will look favorably upon those with ideas to make our great land greater. Titles and lands will be awarded to those who contribute to the greater good. Let this be an age where magic, science, commerce, and engineering be advanced to bring a better life and security to the Empire and its folk.

To accomplish this, we must all work together and do our part. I call upon you all to work with me and the Council to achieve this noble end. Thank you for coming and may the Gods bless you and this Empire."

Vanir grinned and gave a playful wink to Isis. "You should expect to hear word from me quite soon. I would hate to wait on such an.....interesting meeting." The priest then turned to listen to the Caesar's speech. It was all just words to him, doubting any sincerity from the man he had known for some time. He was more focused on other matters, simply applauding at the end of the speech. The evening was at a close, but it had opened many possibilities.

Clapping politely to the Caesar's speech, Rosalie then accepted the Ambassador's arm, allowing him to escort her outside to the coaches, sure that Deacon would follow in their wake. "Thank you, milord" she smiled looking up at him "It has been a most pleasant evening."

S'sinith nodded firmly and applauded with the rest of the crowd. He will see how long this tolerance would last, but for now, it brought promise to his homeland as well as great potential. He needed to start formulating a plan to bring his people to a better light as well as plans for his own future. Looking to the Lady Vlast to see if she was ready to depart, he respectfully waited for her decision. Even if he was not allowed to bow to her, she still outranked him... that and he liked her, and didn't want to step into any of her plans.

Steward smiled as Andolin uttered his speech, quite pleased with how much His Majesty managed to say in only a few words, reminding them all of what he had accomplished in the past ever so subtly. Belish still had his doubts about Andolin’s ability to control himself and actually work for the benefit of the Empire and not for his own benefit, merely using the Empire as a tool to become more powerful himself. It was a doubt he shared with another man, as Imperial Secretary listened to the speech and could not help but wonder what His Imperial Majesty would say tomorrow when they met again after nearly three months of Silk’s absence. He applauded with the rest of the room, even going so far as to join in the cheer, already thinking just how much humbling Andolin needed and whether the young man had forgotten who helped him get the crown he so proudly wore now.

OOC: I think we can wrap this up slowly, unless you have mischief planned. Thank you for sticking around and making much fun and trouble in the meantime.

Accepting the applause of his subjects, Andolin moved to withdraw. There were certain ladies waiting for his attention, and he was anxious to see to their needs.

Andolin was a man who remembered everything -- every slight and every favor. So, the Imperial Secretary, should he approach him, might learn that. For now, the presence of Silk was the farthest thing from his mind. The man had all but disappeared long ago.
