Yin listened, leaning in close as she told her tale. She was the one with the shard, he had expected, but did not wish to accuse. Rosalie was one to consort with dark powers, and perhaps this whole court they stood in was populated with people who were aligned with evil. This was distressing at best. His whole understanding of what had happened started to change. The King had perished because of their not being there. The Righteous had lost because they were not there. “You are the one she spoke about, the reason he died, because you had part of his soul.” He whispered.

More distressing though was the doubt, and lack of faith he heard in her voice and in her words. She was chosen as a vessel for something pure and holy and she wavered, doubted, and even considered the King to be less then holy.

He pulled away slightly, looking at her intently, measuring her, trying to feel if she was telling him the truth, or lying. His heart was crushed with sadness, and he could see she was distressed. “T…” He paused looking around. “My Lady,” he said thinking better of using her name, “we need to consider all the options. The cat people could be from Taquar or some other unknown land. Simply because you have not seen nor heard of them does not put out their existence. They could also be creations of magic, as it seems that Dominicus may not be the only god they worship, and that they may in fact be lead not by a man, but a demon.” So many options that could exist. He looked down the hall as the music began to wane and the dancers were stopping.

“If we are in the aether, what does it matter where we go, if we return to the place where the portal is, are we really returning there. We would also have to contend with getting out of here, as the doors are all shut and the exits I am sure are barred.” He looked back at her.

He frowned and scratched his chin. Life was so much easier when you knew who the enemy was. Right here, though, and right now, he could not be sure who was friend and who was foe. “I would suspect though, right now, it does not matter where we are, it is important that we get back to where we came from. Return to our own time, our own place. Warn the King of what will happen, so that if this is the future, we can stop it.”

“We are deep in the muck right now, waist deep in the cacky.” His more common roots were coming out now. “I could not fight them, not here, I would be dead three times before I made the first strike. The place is too well guarded. Pan’s hooves, this is a muck of situation.” He stopped. “Pardon my cursing, miss. I have to tell you, I am not pleased.” He was not either, he was livid, and feeling like his back was to the wall.

“We should go back, dance and play, make on like we are clueless. If they suspect we know what is on, we could be done.” He said looking down the hall. “If there is a way out, then we will find it, no matter where we are. First though, we have to know why we are here. What it is we were brought here for. Nothing ever just happens, it happens for reasons. We need to have faith and stay true.”

“It is going to require a lot from you.” He said, “I cannot help but worry, you were picked for a special task, given a great gift. I see it in you, your doubt, your fear. There are no pagan gods, they are all the One. The cannot be wrong, he is blessed and his actions and commands are the same as if Dominicus himself were issuing them.” He took her by her hands. “Haven’t you ever had to live by faith alone? When nothing supports you but the belief in our God?”

The paladin took her hands, and the young lady didn't mind at all, but she frowned. She felt so confused, so helpless.
Faith alone?...

-"Heavens, no!" thought Tinally, 'I am one of the worst rationalists to walk the earth... but the more she thought about it the more it turned out to be a very hard question. Surely it was not faith alone, but once she took a moment to think about it, it all just seemed to turn around. She did live by faith,,not in Dominicus though, but by believing in the all the good that was in the world and that much more good could be done. She believed in love and in people who were just to confused and failed to see things for what they were. Sometimes she was just as blind, it was a thing she deeply regretted and tried to set right. On the other hand, weren't all those things she believed in - The One God? So many questions that perhaps only the most brilliant philosopher could cope with, but so little answers.

Yin could probably see it in her, all those doubts tearing her apart. Unbearable for someone who like to be very rational and precise.

The young paladin had a gift of setting the question just right. Tinally did belive in Dominicus and that he was the light that shined to guide the souls of mortals and to make them and their life better. She believed in that with all her heart. But there were things she just couldn't accept. She denied the very though that her god had anything to do with ordering to kill any living soul, to make them suffer or that something as horrible as war , even covered up by the "best intentions", could be something of his will. But that was happening and so she could belive in nothing else, but that all that was the doing of mortals blinded by their fears and desires and they were the one who set confusion among all the others.

Unfortunately that didn't match up with what Yin said. Tinally just didn't know what to belive... It was so horrible to be uncertain in even believing in such things. If she couldn't make up her mind - how could she be sure in anything she does, in anything at all?

" You lover of jumping-to-the-wrong-conclusions," an angry voice knocked from deep within her mind." Faith is irrational, so stop thinking." Sometimes thinking was a dead end. And this was case. " Once in your life just follow what you feel is right, follow your heart."

There was a spark in the girls eyes as suddenly everything shifted back in to place. The confusion passed. She knew what to do, she knew what to belive in - she could belive in herself and they guidance that has ben leading her. Everybody had something in them that knew exactly how to tell right from wrong and all she had to do was to follow it.

" I belive..." Said Tinally looking up at Yin with a smile. " I belive that no one should loose part of their soul, because it's simply the only thing that really matters in the end. And Balthasar must have the shard back, no matter if he is right or wrong. I also belive that you , Yin, might have ben given a higher understanding of things and you might really see the reasons behind many things that I don't understand, I don't know. But what I do know is that every one has their own way to Dominicus and if they are searching for the truth, they should go their own way."

" Unless of course you can prove them wrong and show them the right way." suddenly added her more practical part. It felt so good to suddenly have things fall back in to place. Especially she had ben so confused for such a long time. Maybe this was her lesson to be learned? Well that was certainly successful, because she understood something that was her biggest concern - how do you understand if what you are doing is right - just think of why you are doing it. Understand the motivation and you will get your answer. Any motives based on fear or other negative feeling were wrong. And that was about it. As simply as that. Funny why it took her so long to understand it.

" But philosophical debates with you is something I would love to do another time. And another thing, I belive you are right when you say there is something to be learned here. This does look like a possible reality of the future, so I belive what we should do is gather as mutch information as we can. I have an idea. " her voice suddenly sounded very self confident. " We have to split up. You are really in a better position then I, so it will be up to you to find out as much as you possibly can on he events over the last year. Everything is of interest to us. Balthasars death, the results of war, the relations of The West with the the Seven Islands and anything else important that might cross your mind..Ah, to whom am I explaining things. Yin, I'm sure you know perfectly well what I mean. I'm sure all that will be very useful to us."

" Mean time I will try to figure out how to get out of here. There should be a library around here, I want to look up some information about the Aether before I will try to do anything. And maybe I'll find our portal mage along the way. I'd hate to have to leave him here...If he's here. and in about , lets say four candle marks (that was about 1/4 of a tide), I can join you in the ball room. If I'm not back in time you can come looking for me, though I can't imagine anything can go wrong. It should give us enough time to gather the information we need before we attempt to get out of here. And don't worry, well pull through and you will become know as The-Paladin-that-saved-the-West. A legend to go through the ages." Tinally winked at Yin and smiled warmly.

As her hand touched his, Gavin almost breathed a sigh of relief. Almost. Instead he merely smiled and lead her towards the Grand Hall. Her joke was not missed. Your protection? Milady you have no idea how close to truth that is. But, let us leave such worries for later. Let us dazzle the hall and everybody there with our entrance. I am sure we shall turn quite a few heads. And not just with our appearance. His step light Gavin walked down the corridor with anticipation. It was hard to keep his steps slow so the lady could keep up. He wanted to enter the ballroom.

She had other plans. And she was apologizing. Ah, the introductions. Silly man. You should have waited. "No apologies necessary. And hero? Hardly. More like a rogue." He flashed her a grin, revealing his teeth and motioned with his hand onward. "Let us go and make an entrance milady. And see how many heads we can turn." On they went. To the main entrance. Music still echoed and "King" and Queen danced. The big man paused in the doorway his eyes seeking Alexandrya. Almost imperceptible nod of encouragement and they were in.

A couple of steps in, he paused and led her towards the side. Unreadable smile was on his lips as the Advisor scanned the crowd. Nodding here and there. And grinning inside at all the astonished looks he got. Hah. Bet you did not expect me to show up. Well, guess again. Most of those present he knew. A lot of them he despised and hated. And everyone was greeted. One face caught his attention. An adhiel? Here? At this court? Surprises never end. Aeshinara, for it was she, was the only one to get a bow. He did not approach, merely acknowledging her presence. Smile etched on his face. Smile without meaning. Perfected long ago to make people nervous. I-know-something-that-I-should not kind of smile.

Alexandrya bubbled with happiness as he accepted her apologise and included a jest of his own. A genuine smile reached her sparkling eyes as she was escorted to the ball by Gavin. She looked up at Gavin as he looked down and she gave a slight nod. Then she set those bright eyes to look around the room. There were so many people and all so beautiful.

The young Achadhiel continued as the fresh-faced debutante that she felt and played so well. It was not very difficult due to the fact she has never been to one before. With lowered eyelashes, Alexandrya watched Gavin but subtly watched others as they stared at him. Or me? I hardly doubt it... She did not cower from any glance that was sent in her way. Instead, her back straightened not that the corset was not already doing it's job painfully well, but her delicate chin had come up a fraction to show that she came from a noble background and had nothing to be ashamed of.

Her escort was indeed a mystery as his gaze rested on Aeshinara and her curiosity piqued but it did not seem like the place to fill in holes, or even her business to ask. She was content to watch, and wait, and walk with Gavin. The looks that seemed to be coming from the crowd conveyed to her that Gavin was indeed known and perhaps important but it was not quite clear what their true opinions of him were.

She did move closer to Gavin to make sure everyone did know that he was her escort for the night and she threw herself in the role.

The people where dancing, they had joy and pleasure. It was fun to move on the dancing floor especially if lead by a skilled dancer. There were so many people skilled in dancing. However it seemed that they all had a partner already. The apprentice was somewhat disappointed, because she could not join in the fun. Rather she was at the sideline watching the dancers' joyfulness. She looked at how they moved, what kind of paces they did, how they turned, how they held each other and other small details. Perhaps it was possible to learn a bit more of the dances they did here, in case she would be asked to dance by someone.

After quite some burns looking she turned to see what the other people were doing. It was nothing special; they just kept themselves busy with mundane thing together with other people they know. That is why you need to have a date prior to coming here. Even a friend would do. La'Lane, Niniel. Where did you two go? Standing in this crowd of happy people, I feel lonely. However, I must keep smiling. I do not want people to be distracted because of me. Aeshinera walked a little past the crowd, to see if there was anything to do for her.

A few moments later a couple that entered demanded her attention. Their presence turned many people to focus upon them. Are they part of the royal family here as well? No, they all have to different features. This man is so large he stands out a lot. I look like a child compared to him. Oh, he greets all those people, he must be very much known. Who could he be? She followed the couple's actions with just her sense of sight while they were passing through the mass. Even more unexpected she got some attention from this man. A bow, a gesture of greeting that has grace and kindness. Of course she returned her kindness to the couple as well, she did a curtsy and returned a warm friendly smile.

The smile Gavin revealed to her felt more than just a greeting. The apprentice wondered what it could mean. Was it to lure her out of the crowd? Being at the event without anyone else that showed some kind of interest she felt like going to them. The feeling to show up there would be rude, sine he passed the crowd to greet them. She waited until he was done with that. As she watched the couple move away she noticed that Alexandrya moved closer to him. That is clear, she wants to show everyone that they were a pair. She should not have to worry, I look like a child compared to him. Even she is larger than me. Oh, maybe they are married and she is a jealous wife? No, I will not follow him, I would just stir up a problem that could be easily avoided. For a moment she looked the Lady before she walked in crowd again. She has a very exceptional look and he is very handsome, yes, they are meant for each other, by oath of beauty. Aeshinera took a hold on a less busy spot. She continued her look at the ball. At least I have something fun that I can look at. Her thoughts returned to look at the people dancing.

Yin nodded. “I will meet you there.” He smiled at her, a warm soft smile. “I fear I would not be one to debate such things with. I am not like the priests, I do not say things so fine as them.” He sighed looking down the hall. “I guess I will gather what information I can.” He said as the dancers clapped for the musicians as the song ended.

“Be careful.” He cautioned before releasing her hands and starting down the hall. He did have work to do, and he hoped it all went smoothly, and they did meet again.

He walked slowly at first as he worked out what he was going to do. Then his pace picked up as he formulated a plan. If this was a trap, the best thing to do was to spring it and see what weapons they had planned for him, if it was not, he should show no fear. “None.” He stepped in the ballroom, his gait smooth and measured, using his skills he learned as a swordsman to carry himself with more power.

He pressed through the crowd, nodding to the nobles in their fancy dress. His procession had one goal, the King and his Queen. His eyes fixed on the man with the dark hair and crown. He seemed everything Balthazar was not.

His steps paused a moment when he saw Gavin with Alex, the young girl he recalled from the dream of darkness. She was the only one to stay with him when all left him. When all left him because of his choice of faith. That is how the pagans were, they had no love for the followers of the true faith, and would crush the faith if it did not fight back.

He steps picked up again, walking to the King, he had to weave a bit through the crowd, but he was not going to be deterred. His goal was fixed and he slowed as he approached the royal couple. “Your majesty, you wished to see me?” He said as he stopped and gave a low bow.

Inwardly he grinned at Alexandrya's possessiveness. He could not help but feel flattered quite a bit. She met him mere burns before and he made an impression. A sense of pride filled the big man as he walked hand in hand with what might just be the most beautiful girl at the ball. He did not fail to notice how she drew closer when he bowed to the adhiel. Jealous? Come now, milady. I am not that kind of man. You are my escort and I am a man of honor. I can be polite, can't I? He said nothing. Happiness filled him and it was not such a big deal.

Leaning closer to her ear, the Advisor whispered. "Milady. I must warn you first. I am not very liked at this Court. So, don't feel alarmed if some of the guests don't act very polite. I was an advisor to the late King and he is not held in high regard at this Court. I must say you make me feel childish. I have been keeping out of the way for months now. Then you come and I walk right into the open. Into the Queen's Ball no less." Drawing back he smiled at her and spoke in a bit higher tone. "So, lady Alazandra, what is your command?"

Alexandrya did know what her little action did and how it must have been conveyed. Although, there were no followed heated gazes towards Aeshinera and anyone that took an interest towards Gavin. She just simply stood closer to Gavin for his warmth and security.

When he leaned closer and whispered into her ear, she felt a tantalizing shiver run down her spine. Her smile was tender as he spoke even though what she heard was not very pleasing. Does it matter if most of these people hate my escort? I do not even know where I am? The smile never left it did not even look as if it was forced from the whispered words that Gavin poured into her ear.

The smile grew a bit wider as she looked up into his eyes as he drew back to his full height, "Hmmm, I must say there are so many things to take in at the moment. All the colors and people--breathtaking. I would expect nothing less for the Queen's Ball. "I would love to dance, Gavin", then she beckoned Gavin to lower once again for her to whisper in his ear, But I fear that I may not know this particular dance. We are here to have fun and laugh, Gavin, I hope you will have as much fun as I will. Of course, if they start throwing rotten fruit out of their sleeves will you be able to protect us? She drew back as she giggled softly. Her eyes sparkled from her joy and laughter.

Rosalie had been intent on the king, jealousy seething within her. How she hated it when Michel paid attention to his wife, the one position she could never take because of her birth even if she had managed to gain almost everything else through what ever means necessary. Yet an ahdiel she was not, and did not want to be. Inferior, weak beings. The pink cloud of fluff nearly bursted in spiteful anger, however the serpentine was distracted by a by now familiar figure walking determinedly towards the royal couple.

Rosalie was already under way to intercept Yin when she suddenly caught another face about to enter.. the archenemy! Slowly she turned on the dancefloor. Gavin had not dared court after he had opposed her last time. The mouthie lady had crushed him with mere words, her plotting and scheming destroying his entire world. For such was her total revenge, her vendetta, when Rose felt slighted. No mercy.

Rosalie slithered close, trapping the couple as they entered the ballroom. "What an.. unexpected pleasure," she purred behind them, her amber eyes settling on Alexandrya "Councilor Gavin, and with such a pretty child."

This was certainly a change... Fialessa thought as the dance between her and Michel continued past the end of the first song. The joy she felt at it was evidenced on her lovely features with a light flush of colour and a glittering in her eyes. She laughed, “You dance well tonight my husband...” It had been far too long in her mind since he had shown such a marked interest in her. Which she felt was strange enough as she was not some cold woman whose only interests were her own ambitions. She even exulted in the press of her husband's form against her own in their dance, perhaps even more as she was certain it must be making a certain mistress boil over with hostility. Fia hoped that woman happened to be watching as she gave him a sultry glance, one such she was exceptional at.

Upon hearing a masculine voice addressing her husband, the Queen 's amber gaze fell upon the young man who had approached the pair, effectively ending their dance. The colour of her eyes were not so far in shade to those of a certain draconian lady he had first encountered, but the Queen's were definitely softer, kinder as the looked his way. Though her hand remained on her husband's arm, the adhiel remained quietly detached as she examined him, let Michel answer him... Is it perhaps time to play pretty and vapid, yet again...

Michel's eyes twinkled as he saw his wife laugh. It was at such moments that he remembered just why he had fallen in love with her. Right there and then, he felt it all over again. He joined her laughter and put in an extra swirl in their dance. The feeling of her body pressing so close to his made his heart beat faster. He could feel the joy of chasing after her again, a feeling he had missed for a long time. For a moment he totally forgot about any other woman in the room as he glanced back at her. By Dominicus she's beautiful..

And then reality hit in as a man approached them and said that Michel had asked for him. No doubt I did, but not now you fool.. But as he recognized the man he nodded. Business..business never paused "Ah, mister Lorin, yes. I would like to have a word with you."
He turned to Fialessa again, leaning in, his lips close to her ear. "I promise I'll find you for another dance before the night is over, my love." He whispered and kissed her neck before he turned his attention to Yin again.

"Come, mister Lorin, let us take a short walk." He directed Yin to the balcony, where it was a little less crowded. Michel had preferred to be in a private room, but that would seem strange on the ball. "Now..let's talk about you and this girl, Tinally. What can you tell me about her and the events in the forest.."

He bowed to the King as he was addressed, looking a bit shocked at the title the King used when addressing him. He stood up strait and waited for the king to lead the way, giving the Queen a smile and a nod as well before they left her presence. He said nothing at the Kings question, thinking on it for a while.

The title mister was used twice, was this some backhanded way of demoting him. Or was the insult out of lack of knowledge. “Have I given some offence, my Liege?” He inquired as they stepped outside. “I was to expect a Paladin of the church to be treated as a peer to the realm. Have I done some insult you?” He asked letting the King’s request go for the moment. “If I have, I would seek to right it before we proceed.”

Michel was baffled at the reaction of the man. These Paladin's and their honor! I really need to make a new law for this..
He responded with a stern voice. "Listen, you haven't insulted me yet, but I have asked you a question. I expect you to answer that question and leave the other petty discussions be for another time when there are only less important things at hand."

This was no time for play, he had to learn all he could about Tinally, the forest and the shard. Balthasar had spoken quite a lot about it during their private talks. Unfortunately...the man found out about Michel's intentions and never told him why the damn thing was so important before he..ah..lost his head.

Yin nodded. “Your forgiveness then. I have to say, I did not know anything about the girl when I came to her help, just that there were men torturing her, and I was put there to save her. What more does a follower of the One need to know, but faith that your are doing the right thing.” He smiled and nodded again. “She was being held by dragon knight, but I think that point is moot.”

He sighed. “I am sorry, I cannot tell you much more then I have, my Lord. I find it is easier to let others ask the questions, I just follow orders. I am not like you, the nobles.” He was not at all. He could see that now, not if all the nobles were as self important and self serving as Rosalie and the King seemed to be.

Yin felt it, the King saw him as nothing more then just a commoner. He was not on the same status as everyone else in that ballroom. “Is this all the information my King wished?”

Michel sighed. I am not like you, the nobles. At this point Michel had seem more then enough. Pure rage was filling up inside of him now. "Not like us? Damn right you're not like me, you lazy dog. Just follow orders...sit up, bark, and roll like a good dog...Actually you can't seem to do even that! And then still you make a fuss about a title? By the One, that title needs to be earned!"

He raised his head, standing up more straight. "Do you even realize who is standing before you now? I am the living Avatar! I am Dominicus' presence in Tazlure! When you serve me, my dear Paladin, you serve the One. And as such, you should always look out for threats and that girl is a threat! Now if you really think you deserve the title of Paladin, I suggest you start working hard on it. Is that clear?" he gritted his teeth and his voice was filled with anger and frustration.

Yin bowed his head, humbly. “Of course, my King, a title is never just given out.” He said this humbly and with respect. “I will follow your orders, My King and Avatar, if I see this girl again, what is your order?” He asked it plainly and softly, lowering his voice just a bit, letting the King have his anger.

He was reminded of a hymn he would sing while working. The priests would sing it, it warned of letting emotion cloud reason. He had always tried to keep his passions muted, not letting anger carry him. Now he was focusing all he could, letting himself be in the solitary place he would go when fighting. Pushing all the anger and hard words he would give any other man for this soft of chiding away. Sometimes the best approach is to simply agree, and let the nobles have their way. “I am sorry I have failed you, my King. Do you wish to set a punishment on me in the name of the One?”

With a smile he listened to her words. And as she drew back he whispered. "I am not much of a dancer myself. But, I like dancing. The others.... They can mind their own business." And he took her hand in his, placing the other on her waist. Gazing into her eyes, the big man took a breath and was just about to twirl Alexandrya on the dance floor, when a familiar voice came from behind him.

Rosalie. Excellent. Let us see if words still have the same power. Letting go of Alexandrya's hand, Gavin turned to face the pink beauty. His archenemy. His other hand still lingered protectively on the achadhiel's waist. "Ah, milady Lo Russo. What a pleasant surprise. No escort tonight? Pity how some people are content with scraps and leftovers." At that his gaze brushed the King and Queen and his smile got sweeter than honey.

He did not miss her child comment. For a flicker the ex-Councilor hesitated, old morals and conscious eating his resolve. Bah. What the Hell? She deserves it. "Allow me to introduce lady Alazandra. She may look like a child next to you, but I one must admire a lady who ages as well as you do. You look not a day over thirty." Turning his back to her, Gavin cast a glance over his shoulder to throw the last sting. "Now, if you'll excuse me, music calls me. My lady demanded a dance. And who am I to refuse. Though rest assured, I would do the same for you. Provided my escort agrees. I don't see any other obstacle." seeing how you came alone, bitch. That last bit was left unsaid as he pulled the girl in his arms closer and started the dance, gleaming with mirth at a verbal spar he just had. We shall meet again, milady. And continue our battle. This war is far from over.

Alexandrya giggled as she was being lead to the dance floor. The heat from his hand on her waist caused her cheeks to flush with a healthy glow as her eyes continued to twinkle. Nothing could ruin such a lovely evening...

Sadly, the silver-haired achadhiel thought too soon. The bright smile faded a bit as she just blinked towards Rosalie, in fact it was all she could really do because of the heat of hatred that seemed to shroud the beautiful woman that had just approached the couple. Rosalie reminded the young achadhiel of a predator ready to pounce on her prey. A snake in pink. Rosalie did not frighten Alexandrya in fact the woman intrigued the naive achadhiel. How does one develop such anger and feed on such negative emotions?

The air cackled with electricity as Gavin and Rosalie confronted each other. Alexandrya just continued to look on with curiosity and was not even hurt by the venomous jab towards her. In fact, she was more distracted by Gavin's protective hold on her. This reaction in him caused her to smile sweetly up at him. The sweet insults seem to roll off Gavin's tongue as she sensed Rosalie might be ready to burst like an ignited stick of dynamite if she could glean any sort of sign from Rosalie's expression and aura.

Alexandrya curtsied politely as Gavin introduced her. Her eyes widened as Gavin returned Rosalie's insult with a barely veiled insult of the lady's age, Oh dear, Gavin... Her thoughts rang in her head, she did not know this woman and already she had insulted her because of her company but there was no emotion except sympathy for the lady in pink.

Of course, she was smart enough to not convey anything but a placid mask as Gavin skillfully led her away from the fire-breathing dragon. Would he really want to go up against such as she? What is written in their sordid past? She wondered to herself. "It is nice meeting you, milady." She murmured with a warm smile and followed Gavin into a dance form.

She gave it a few minutes into the steps, before being confident enough in her movements to not lose her mental count, "Gavin, I imagine you have quite a history with that woman? I felt I would have been buried alive by the tension between the two of you." She did not know where the comments came from perhaps because she could not help her curiosity into human nature and what caused people to become who they are.

"Regardless..." she whispered softly, "I thank you for coming to my defense." The well known smile appeared as she looked up at her escort, "Hero, or rogue, I am happy to have met your acquaintance." She murmured.

" I'll try to be back as soon as I can. And Yin, don't let those nobles get to you." Tinally replied to the young paladin before setting of in the other direction.

She planed on avoiding the ball room all they way till she figured things out. For now her destination was the library. And what better place to find some information on the Aether then a library in the Aether? Maybe only a magic collage in the Aether. The young lady felt she would give a lot to have a chance to visit that kind of establishment in this realm. It would probably give a whole lot more understanding of magic, then she could ever find in the Theather.

Tinally went back the corridor where she and Yin had just came from. And back up the stairs to the second floor. If this place was anything like all the other castles and estates - the Library just had to be on the second floor. It was almost like having the servants corridor to the left of the grand stairs leading to the Ballroom - a sort of rule for architecture.

Tinally didn't find the many corridors she passed to be very crowded, on the contrary - they were quite deserted. Soon enough she found herself looking for somebody to ask directions. Maybe there were some servants around? Well, all of them couldn't be occupied at the ball, could they? Not likely.

" I can swear I've ben half way around the castle by now." thought Tinally as she hurried down another corridor almost breaking in to a light jog. She had to find so many answers and it seemed she had so little time.

The twenty-two year old nearly stamped her feet in rage when Gavin called her ancient. Thirty indeed. Then he had the audacity to leave. How dare you. There was a time when you kissed the ground I walked on. Now you chose such vapid women over ME. Rosalie ignored the obvious facts, that she herself had destroyed anything that was left between them with her carefully chosen venom. She could not STAND not being the center of attention and Gavin very effectively deflated her ego. The king too disappeared. Things were completely dismal.

Rosalie's pink dress was growing bigger and bigger as she fumed and fumed and fumed, twirls of mist coming up from under the floor and blowing up her form.

She was satisfied at least that he had promised her another dance and the feeling from the touch of his lips on her throat lingered... However much he might play with others, or she even, he was still hers somewhere deep inside. The Queen having been left to her own devices as her husband trotted off with the young blond paladin, decided at first to survey the ballroom...

Well it seemed to her that not enough dancing was taking place. She would remedy that! This was after all a ball, her ball in point of fact, and dancing should be taking place. With decidedly graceful movements she ascended to the dais, a nod was made to the musicians to cease their playing for the moment and her silvery voice calling the attention to herself...

“Now we shall have a Lirpitz! ...Gentlemen to their line! Ladies take your blindfolds!” A staccato clap of her delicate hands and she came away with a soft silken blindfold the plum shade of her gown. “We ladies shall all find our partners thus unsighted...” She assumed that enough of the court would be familiar with the Lirpitz that she did not fully explain it.

“Let us ALL find our partners and dance...” Fialessa announced before descending back to the dancefloor seeing the courtiers lining up or putting on blindfolds. She would wait until the last flicker to put on her own blindfold, so she might see that everyone was joining in the game.

He was not a dancer in the times past. He was a warrior. That made his first attempts easier. Over time he learned and while not masterful, he was not bad at all. And for a while he was content on leading the lady before him through the steps. His arms steadied her each time there was a chance of floundering, keeping her balance as they moved. Rosalie was forgotten for now, and his world consisted of music and Alexandrya. Encouraging smile graced his lips as she grew more relaxed with the steps. Then she brought him back to reality.

"You mean lady Lo Russo? Yes, indeed. We have clashed in the past. Actually she used to be a friend. A very dear friend. I began to have feelings for her, and at the time she appeared worthy of those. Then the King died. And she showed her true face. She chose power over me. Became the new King's mistress. Now, everyone knows why she has all that power, yet nobody dares say anything. I once did. And had to leave the public life in disgrace. She is good with words. I was good with them. Only I could not bring myself to hurt her with those. To spread false rumors and lies. I have learned a lot over this past year." A mischievous smile replaced the encouraging one and his eyes twinkled. "As you have just witnessed. Ooooh, I could almost swear she is fuming. She looked ready to stomp her feet in helpless rage. And you know what?" Here he leaned closer before whispering. "It felt good."

It was then that the Queen made her presence known. With a final twirl Gavin brought himself and his dancing partner to a slow halt and gazed at the lady he admired as much as he hated her husband. Oh, a Lirpitz. This might prove fun. Leaning towards Alexandrya, unsure if she had heard of the game he thought he should better offer some explanation. "Milady, seems we have to bring our dance to an end for now. Our Queen commands it. This Lirpitz she mentions is a game that holds some attraction. You are to go and join the ladies on that side of the hall, while the gentlemen will gather on the opposite wall. Then you shall be blindfolded and will seek your dance partner. I wish you luck and once this dance is over hope to have the pleasure of dancing with you again." And with a bow, he took her hand, planting a gentle kiss on the back of her palms. Stepping away he still held her hand, reluctant to let go. A pair of steps finally forced him to let her fingers slip out of his, and the hand that touched her fell to his hip. The big man turned upon his heel and took his place at the opposite wall, waiting to see whom the fate shall bring into his arms.

Alexandrya felt swept away by the dance and the man that held her in her arms. Her heart fluttered whenever he drew near to her. She listened to his explanation and was grateful that he was forthcoming with his information. It made her feel important to be able to be taken into his confidence. Would I ever get that way? Would I let my hatred consume me? Could I do what I need to do? What I promised to do?

Her eyes gazed up into Gavin's as he leaned close once again and she almost melted almost forgetting they were talking about Rosalie.

The Queen's lovely voice was heard over the crowd and she instinctively drew closer to Gavin, This all seems too familiar. She frowned with slight puzzlement of the familiarity of the Queen's request. Lirpitz, blindfold...why does it all remind me of something?

She looked up towards Gavin and nodded slowly, "Yes, of course--thank you." I don't want to participate. She held onto his hand, watched as he kissed her hand gently and smiled. "It will be a pleasure as always, Gavin. I will await for that moment and hope that it is soon." Her voice sweet and quiet then he stepped away and she watched him head towards the opposite wall.

Alexandrya headed towards the wall where the ladies were already assembling feelings of foreboding clouded her mind and hear as she was handed a silken blindfold. Blind fold..., she shivered at the thought of deja vu and then tied the offered blindfold around her eyes. She stood against the wall to make sure she would not get lost and hopefully would be guided to the opposite side of the wall. Do not trip. The darkness... She was starting to panick. Her breathing caused her bosom to heave upwards as she gasped for air. Fear...stop it... She tried to focus on the objective of the game but silently wished that she could sit out on it.

She tried to recall Gavin's sturdy form. His hands, she tried to recall anything that would come to mind and be remembered, his warm masculine scent. She shook like a leaf as she slowly made her way to where she believed was the opposite wall. Strength Alexa...get a grip, my goodness how can you seriously function if even the darkness of being blindfolded scares you? She reprimanded herself as she inhaled sharply and held her breath for a moment and then exhaled.

Alexandrya was not sure if the game had started by the Queen's words, but she at least made an effort to obey.

Let the game begin!

Light steps, nearly impossible to make out covered by the distant music and noise of the ball.
A figure half hidden away by the darkness of the empty hall, only to be given away by the game of light and shadow that followed her swift movement.

Tinally was not exactly one of those people you would call fearless, yet she usually found the strength to face what had haunted her. And right now, when her sensitive hearing captured even the slightest noise and all the surrounding shadows were carefully watched, the young achadhiel felt she was confronting the greatest challenge she would ever come up against. The dark wizard was right - this was a nightmare, her nightmare, where everything she had greatly feared had suddenly come to life. Pain, torture, being accused of anothers death and worst of all - nothing that could be done to set things right. What saved her from the madness of this situation was the knowledge that all of this was not true. Just a reflection of her own fears. Mind games - nothing more, nothing less. So was the reality in the aether formed by the basic pure energies and the dreamers mind? It seemed so.

She wondered what Yins fears were... How was he? Did he see the king? An interesting thought crossed her mind. She hoped Yin would think of asking somebody the exact place and time of Balthasars murder. In that case, they would know how much time they have to find the crystal, and even if they were running late they could still save the kings life.
But did they really need to? With his politics....No, no, no. They have to save him and try to influence his decisions in another way.

" Now where is the damn Library?" - thought the young lady having passed yet another door. It was close she could nearly feel it! And deep inside she was hoping the portal mage back from the Citadel could be found there... though he could be anywhere.

Michel sighed, his frustration clearly showing. By the One, where have all the real men gone off to. Hard to find good help these days.
Without giving it any more thought he slapped Yin in the face.
"Listen, Lorin, or should I call you dog until you do something right?
I don't care how you do it, you are going to get the shard from that girl. She's a threat. After you get the shard you dispose of her, you hear me? Now just get out of my sight and don't even think about returning without the shard."

Michel was unable to control his anger an his frustrations any longer. He now pointed them all towards this paladin. He had to know what was so special about that damn shard.
