Posting Rate & Speed of game: What to expect

Are you unsure how to continue? Do you have questions about how to play the game? Feel free to ask here. The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask.

Posting Rate & Speed of game: What to expect

Post by Maeve »

Patience is a virtue in Tazlure. This game can move slowly for you if you:
a. are a hyperposter (posting every day or even more than once a day) (you think our postingrate is slow)
b. are looking mainly for actions and skilladvances ( you think our IC time is slow)

If you are a hyperposter...

We try and approve sheets within 48 hours, provided they meet all our standards. If not comments will be provided and the proces may take as long as a week till your sheet is fine tuned.

Moderators at Tazlure try and attend to each thread they are responsible for at least every three days. This means you get a two to three times a week posting rate by a mod. The following are common causes for this rate not to be met:
  • The mod in charge is not available for whatever reason (sickness, computer crashes, holidays etc.). Threads do get temp reassigned if mods are gone longer than a week. We try and keep players updated on absences.
  • The mod is waiting for something out of your viewpoint (a development in another thread for instance)
  • The mod is waiting for one of the players in your thread to post
  • You have just started your PC. The entrance thread and the first few posts you do in Taz may be slow going because behind the scenes the AGM is trying to coordinate what plotlines to involve you with, may have to write additional locations etc.

When you feel the posting rate you receive is not as you want it to be, we recommend the following steps:
  • involve yourself with other players with matching needs in postingrate. Check their profile for information.
  • contact your mod through PM and discuss the issue. It may not be something that can be solved but often there a some things that can be done, like assigning you to a mod who generally is more available or moving you into a plotline with more players
  • if your mod seems to have disappeared without somebody being reassigned to your thread, give us a heads up in the Q&A forum.

Please try and keep communications open and fair. This includes contacting the mod involved directly, not complaining in chat without taking possitive steps, or trying to involve a GD before you have talked to your mod.

If you want the time in the game (IC time) to move faster ...

It is good to realize that IC time in Tazlure by its very nature moves slowly, even though we have taken measures like Recess to speed it up.

This does not mean that we always apply time realistically. You get far more done in a Tazlurian day, than you would in real life in a month. Startling careers have been made in just a week, including the gaining of skills. For instance: there is a priest who is the personal confessor of the King of the Western Kingdom. In Taz time he's in the kings employ for just 10 days. There is a Rose student who has been a rose for about a week. He's already journeymen at some skills, has become a priest of Pan and will start at court.

This is a creative writing game that has a characterdevelopment focus. This means we do not do random fights just to get points, nor oneliners to resolve a combat situation. Rather common posts are two or three paragraphs and involve thoughts and emotions in addition to the actions. This means that before an event has resolved it takes some serious real life time unless all players in the thread are hyperposters.

The mods try and push forward time by using Synch Events. When one is declared all threads try and push past that date and new threads cannot start before it. You are also encouraged to move forward in time by covering lapses of time with mundane actions that you do not have to describe, or can mention in the background.
