[Kes'Levy] Temple of the Mother

Post by Nemesis »

Just as in Taloh, the largest known temple is the Temple to the Mother, this vast and round place shaped from a single tree is the northernmost part of the city and dedicated primarily to the Goddess various aspects. It houses priests and priestesses as well as acolytes who come to study religion, healing and many types of magic.

It is divided in levels according to the three phases of the Mother. The first level, or main level to which the entrance is located is dedicated to the aspect of the maiden. Here many bright colors are found in the mosaics on the floor as well as colors of the room.

Above the main level is the section of the temple dedicated to the aspect of the mother. More themed with birth and sexuality than the main level. This is level also functions as a sort of hospital for expactant mothers. When a mother is in labor she can be brought here to deliver her children. It is the largest of the three levels.

The third level of the temple is actually located under the first level of the temple below the ground. This level is dedicated to the aspect of the crone, or matron. Here those who worship the darker aspects of the mother can be found. Many of the older scrolls and parchments can be found as wisdom and knowledge are the focus here.

Alantha could not supress the gasp that escaped her lips, the excitement and awe that shone in her eyes. She disliked showing emotional outbursts, but nothing else would have been fitting upon seeing this Temple to the Goddess of her devotion. Old Mother, this Temple, while nothing on this world could do you justice, come very close to it.... the branches sore to the sky, proclaiming your glory and no doubt the roots grow deep, strengthening your power in the world.

The young maiden approached the Temple, and entered in humble silence, for she could find no voice, inner or otherwise. To break her own silence seemed like sacrilage within this place.

She looked about for one of the priestesses of the Temple, wanting to ask whom it was she had to speak to about enrolling in the priesthood to the Great Mother.

OOC: Would you be able to see about those skills at all? They still haven't been added over, sorry for the bother!

The temple had been abnormally busy for the better part of the day and all of yesterday. It was crowded with the refugees from Taloh as well as the priests and priestesses that for lack of a better word, worked here. Despite the number of adhiel present, things were running along rather smoothly thanks to the effeciency of the staff.

A young adhiel who looked to be rather lost accidently bumped into Alantha. She was dressed in the robes worn by a few other of the priests and priestesses that were present. "Oh pardon me," she said while kneeling down to pick up the tomeshe was carrying that had fallen to the floor in the collision. She then introduced herself once she stood back up.

"My name is Sister Tessa," she said while fumbling to put tome back under her arm. "I was just trying to carry this to the library, it came on one of the wagons the refugees borught here." Tessa looked the newcomer up and down for a moment. "You are not from around here are you?"

The folds of the elf's ebony mantle billowed behind him as he sauntered down the road, seemingly unmindful of his envelopments save the elegant structure before him. His emerald eyes firmly descended upon the regal Temple of the Mother, and for a rare moment specks of youthful energy radiated brilliantly in his orbs. It wasn't often that the young elf succumbed to losing his coolness and impartiality, but the sight of the Mother's sanctuary was far too great for him to behold. He had briefly been educated in some aspects of the Mother, but his edification had never rooted so deeply as to enlighten him on every feature that Taquar's Goddess possessed. Nevertheless, it was evident that the deity was of magnificent degree, and subsequently she deserved all of the reverence that the adolescent elf could possibly muster. Meticulous and hesitant in his approach, Kalonderial eventually came to a standstill before the multi-tiered building. It may not have been obvious that he was nervous, but to the perceptible gazer his anxiety was far more evident that he would have preferred to convey.

Consequent of the tree's immenseness, Kalonderial was unknowing of where to commence his search for the Mother's avatar, one Laliel Saliu. The name wasn't familiar to the elf as he hadn't ever been to Kes'Levy let alone outside of his own home, but regardless he was certain that someone nearby would be able to help him. The Goddess' orator, after all, couldn't possibly be unknown or a guest to the facility. Nevertheless, would Kalonderial appear as a fool for not knowing where to initiate his investigation? Was the test of the Mother related to this quest to find Laliel? These thoughts circulated within the elf's mind as he pondered a humble distance from the temple. As an obsessively calculating individual, Kalonderial tended to weigh all options within his mind before acting upon them. He had probably received this cautiousness from his father, an element that had most likely been responsible for enabling Kithuriel to survive so long despite his unorthodox profession. This was a reasonable prospect, too, as spies and assassins usually didn't subsist beyond their prime.

Shrugging aside these thoughts, Kalonderial's vigilant eyes scanned the perimeter of the demesne for signs of someone who could help him. As he had never ventured to a temple before, he had a difficult time differentiating betwixt the priests, priestesses, and the visitors. Henceforth, the elf was beginning to harbor a significant amount of awkwardness and uncertainty. He innately wished that this Laliel Saliu would simply materialize and announce that she expected him, but for some reason he highly doubted that such an event would occur. The avatar of the Mother likely had many other obligations to attend too, and thus it was practical that he sought her out on his own. There was no reservation in the elf's mind about doing this either, for his determination to enlist in the Emerald Guard and serve the Queen was far more influential than his own insecurity about being in a realm that he was a stranger too. Rolling his shoulders out in a gesticulation of determination, he proceeded towards the Temple.
