You have reached the Temple of Pecunia...

The temple of the goddess of wealth is a sleek, simple building, standing about twenty meters high. Made of smooth, cool blue stone, the temple can only be described as businesslike. Above the gate, the name of Pecunia and the image of the goddess have been carved into the stone, the carvings filled up with gold dust. Templar guards stand watch before the gate, dressed in the finest armour and armed with the finest weaponry money can buy. Around the temple, many merchants have set up their stall, hoping to do business in the divine radiance of the patroness of material gain.

In front of you and to your left you see the Bank

Taking up almost more space than the place of worship itself, the bank is just about the central location of the temple of Pecunia. As the inventors of the banking system, Pecunian clerics have specialized in this branch. Merchants and the like stand in line before two marble desks, where clerks cribble away in ledgers filled with often meaningless numbers. The room is down to earth, simple in design, providing places for people to sit while waiting or to stand in line for a loan or deposit.

In front of you and to your right you see the Post Office

The post has long been associated with Pecunia. In times past, the postal system was brought, the faithful say, to the world by Pecunia herself, and the followers see it as their divine duty to maintain this moter of the economy. For a price, on can drop letters and small packages here, which the Pecunians will deliver, usually within a week to a month in time, depending on size and distance.

Directly in front of you is the Donation Box

This box, which should simply have been called enormous chest, sits near the exit of the temple, a priest attending it at all times. Various slots permit the deposit of valuables, even large gems, but the donation box is most strongly warded against theft: more than one thief has left the temple with one less hand to go about his roguish ways.

Merchants are seen here donating money at regular intervals, securing favors and good luck in obtaining profit.

Beyond that is the Altar

Made of pure, solid gold, this large altar sits in the middle of the main hall of worship. Here, the walls are adorned with scenes of important events of Pecunian myth, much like leaded windows, only here, the coloured glass has been substituted by gold, silver, and a variety of valuable gems. When the candles are lit, this whole room gains a glow, with all the light reflected from precious metals filling the room. It is in this glow that religious services are often conducted, with the faithful kneeling before the altar, and a priest of the faith leading it all.

Immediately to your left or right are the Meeting Corners

The corners of the temple, out of even elves earshot from everyone else, serve as places where one can speak with a priest privately. Masters of material gain, the priests of Pecunia are often sought out by businessmen and merchants for their expertise. Led to these corners, they are always given the very best of business advice... for a price. Often, a priest will request both a donation to the faith, and current information on the most recent events in the world of business.

There are several priest and guards standing about, any may be able to assist you.

Kate in a clean dress nicely ironed, polished boots and herself nicely groomed very handsome but not over her station her hair made up simply, and arriving early at the temple grounds. With her her prized letters of reference from her mistress at the Temple of Mother and the High Priestess attesting to her work and character. Why come to the Temple of Pecunia simple that is where the most likely employers would appear and she is trained to tend a woman of quality as a personal servant to her. Not interfering with those coming to and from the temple and clearly not a begger she simply asks persons if they need a ladies servant, shows her reference letters if asked and clearly just an honest woman seeking a situation. Gentlemen she will ask if a lady in their household could use a personal servant of good character and training, women folks inquire directly. It doesn't matter if its a matron or an older daughter in the household of age to have her own servant- as long as its work she is trained for.

She hopes to get some interest it would be a shame to have to go home and tell her parents no one was interested. Kate has her pride and her family works for what they get and are good at it so having have spent years as an apprentice it would be nice to at least visit a home today if invited to interview. At least would show she has quality in her profession.

Sticking to her manners she uses a simple term Sir or Madam when approaching persons of station, tries to be proper for her station but does show pride in herself. In the nature of a woman from an honest family that is seeking a situation and respects her profession even if young.

Just because it was Morningside did not mean Temple of Pecunia slept, seeing how any time was a good time for business. Several niches to the side were already occupied as people sought business advice from the priests or came to make important business deals and needed to formulate a proper binding contract. It was a well known fact that priests of Pecunia had a sharp eye for business and that they had some sort of magickal contracts that used divine magick to punish those who defaulted on payment.

It did not take more than five flickers for a young man to approach Kate, a smile upon his face. His wavy blond hair was cut short, but still managed a pretty nice curl, one stray lock hanging before his eye. Dressed in an acolyte's robes he approached, offering a bow in greeting. "Good morning, miss. IS there a way Pecunia might assist you?" He arched an eyebrow awaiting her reply.

Perhaps Master Acolyte

Post by Guest »

"I just completed my apprenticeship as a ladies companion servant and thought it would be worth a day seeing if anyone attending to temple business knows of a situation for me to gain employment.," she smiles and courtsies. "Forgive me Master Acolyte my manners I'm Kate the daughter of Margo she owns a dress shop in the Outer Ring and Tal the Master Carpenter and have letters of reference for my profession but seek work.," she adds proud of her family and trade but not TOO proud.

"Well to business since the most powerful and wealthy families do business here I thought I could find work through the temple, a referal I'd be happy to make a donation for a referal that leads to a situation- and be grateful to the temple.," she then says plainly as is her nature.

"Note I'm not a wealthy woman of status but will offer the best I can perhaps the equivalent of one months earnings when hired.," she offers knowing more would prove a hardship.

The Acolyte listened to the girl's request, but did not reply right away. Instead he motioned towards one of the niches near the side and gently urged her to move there. "Please, let us find a more private place. That way we won't be overheard. Just a custom, nothing more. And please, call me Brother Joseph. Master Acolyte is a bit too much." He smiled warmly as he waited for her to take a seat before joining her, sitting on the bench next to her.

"Now, let me see if I got this right. You want to be a lady's maid, right?" He paused a moment, looking thoughtful for a flicker or two, gazing up towards the ceiling. "I think I might have just the thing for you. For mere fifteen percent of your income, we shall vouch for you and link you to an employer to your liking. And as I said I think I know just the right person. Tell me do these terms sound acceptable to you? And more importantly, do you have any experience in tending the recuperating wounded?"

Kate smiles and hands over the letters of reference one from her mentor that taught her the basics of healing of course without the use of magic. "Yes my mentor suspected that would be a duty and made sure I had instruction in healing although I'm not a master healer, just enough to have a useful skill working under instruction of healers.," she replies.

"As for the terms if the Temple will arrange a suitable amount of pay based on the status of my lady-to-be I'm trained as a companion servant and well versed in the basics of the profession, I expect suitable pay and consideration and frankly am no master negotiator such as you are.," she says proud of her profession and having some expectations of good pay and support of an employer. And she is no expert at business having a skilled priest in such matters should tip the balance in her favor long term. "So if the temple will also provide a negotiator to arrange the pay and benefits of service the fifteen percent is fair and the more I Get the more You Will Get.," noting that its good business for them as well in her head. "Servants like me ususally attach to a family permanently in such a role especially for the lady we serve you know so its a fine long term investment for the faith.," Kate adds the hint of the merchant in her from her mothers work. "So if you can assist at getting a good offer of coin with modifications as my skills improve you will gain well for this help for a long term but when I retire from their service you don't get the fifteen percent- but they will likely be many years from now and why not have an expert do the negotiation its wise for an unskilled person to get such help.," she finishes with a soft smile.

"Are we in agreement then Brother Joseph,"bending over and whispering,"its part of my training to call anyone of unknown rank Master or Mistress what I observe as their trade its a matter of respect I meant no offense." Kate is in a pleasant mood and seems to like the arrangement if the temple does some negotiation for her.

The girl seemed to know the right things to say, seemingly understanding the Pecunian faith rather well. Joseph smiled broadly and listened, not interrupting Kate once during her talk. She would do well in the priesthood. Being a lady's servant is all about recognizing the needs of one's mistress. Would it be fair to call it a waste of talent? "Point taken, milady. But, now you know it is Brother Joseph so you can address me properly." He smiled. "Not that what you said before was improper, but.... Well, let us say some of the higher ranking members of clergy might find it insulting."

He took a sigh and raised a finger. "Now, where was I? Ah, yes. The job. Let me explain a bit about that. There was a rather unfortunate incident at place called Divale a few nights ago. Nobody is quite sure what happened there, but what is important to you is that a lady was wounded. I won't reveal names or anything just yet, since the deal is not set yet, but she will need someone to take care of her. I was hoping you might be that person. Her family is well known and respected in the Citadel and I think the pay won't be any problem. I shall see about contacting them and arranging a meeting. Meet me tomorrow, early Tradetide? I'll have more news and if all goes well, maybe I will have managed to arrange a meeting with your future employer?"

"Well that is the nice thing of the pantheon of the Isles unlike Dominicus each has their place and your people clearly have their skills to honor, sounds like a fine position and your surely a good negotiator.," Kate smiles. "I'll of course have to closely with the healer and would want this to be a long term position but I have my letters of reference they should suffice with your halp to expediate things, I'll meet you here as you require.," Kate gets up and shakes Brother Joseph's hand firmly but not too firmly she is a lady after all. But a good business handshake.

"Thank you and your faith for the assistance.," she courtsies softly a slight one more courtesy to a peer than to a superior. She lets the Brother escort her out...

"The architecture here is wonderful I like the layout seems both practical and pleasing to eye, and more inviting then I would think since you tend to riches commoners would not as welcome here.," Kate says making small talk. Of course she notes many common folk are here tending to their more modest business. As they walk to the exit.

It was a simple transaction and while it might not bring him a fortune, Joseph knew it was a long term investment. The girl was right in that regard. The lady's maids were permanent positions and while Kitlanya might not have a true need for a hand maid after she recovers, if Kate played her cards right, her mistress might grow attached to her. And considering her father's wealth it was quite easy for her to convince him to pay for a personal servant even after she recovered from her wound.

"Letters of reference? Oh, do bring those along tomorrow. Those could make quite a difference in your pay and would give us an edge in the negotiations. And I am sure we can arrange for a professional healer to be available for you to call upon should there be any need for that." He rose with her, escorting her to the door, nodding to her words. "Yes. Well, Pecunia is a Goddess of wealth and as such we are able to afford a bit of opulence. It would not do for us not to have the very best of everything." He paused, just as he reached the door. "And I can assure you. We tend to everyone in need. We just require a little bit of something for our troubles. It does not matter if you are poor at the moment. One day you might be rich. Good bye, milady. I shall see you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow then.," Kate says to the Brother. She puts the hood up on her cloak and strolls off enjoying watching the wealthy folks come and business. "Well they certainly found and exploited a market but I prefer Mother," Kate thinks to herself and caresses the holy symbol of Mother about her neck.
