Gulanadur At A Glance

Post by Jadmai »

Geography

Gulanadur is formed within a naturally occurring basin in the earth, which the inhabitants like to claim is a crater formed when they were cast from the surface into the caverns, though it said that perhaps three deities made it more stable and capable of supporting life, with the aid of river trapped in a crystalline tube, which gives off a dark puprle hue, this tube sprawls about the City Kingdom, and not only deposits water, but provides light for those who dwell in Gulanadur.

The bowl is massive- stretching a distance greater than the entire breadth of the largest cities of the surface world. In the center of the bowl, a tall spire rises- stretching just beyond the 'lip' of the basin, the sides fairly steep. Structures are built into the entire surface of the bowl and spire- carved directly into the stone surface. The spire is reserved only for the elite and wealthy- and living 'on the spire' or 'on the rock' is considered a symbol of honor and respect within the city.

However, the three temples of Gulanadur lay at the bottom of the bowl, but that is by no means a disrespect to the gods, but merely a gesture saying that no one elf is different in the eyes of the gods.

The structures that go into the bowl are in three tiers, commonly called ‘The Three Tiers of Gulanadur’. Access from tier to tier can be found in a series of steps, however, to get to The Spire, each tier has it’s own walk bridge which they must transverse.

The Upper Tier

This is where most commoners make their home, and do their work. It is also where most of the plant life can be found. Thus it also home to the small amounts of livestock that is kept there.

The Middle Tier

Here can be found the gaudy merchant houses, though they are made through the typical means of construction in Gulanadur, most citizens consider them an eyesore, but on this tier, the merchants are not to be challenged.

Also on the middle tier can be found the Bazaar, which is the great central shopping area of Gulanadur. One will mostly find the usual everyday goods, but occasionally someone may come across an usual object of interest.

The Bottom Tier (More commonly known as The Temple Tier)

The Temple Tier consists mostly of the three temples, however some housing can be found for the priest and priestesses, and for those who are training to be such. Services are all held on Rasday, at different Tides of the day.
