The Unknown Beckons - Jadmai - Samheen 26th MT

Samheen 26th - Morningtide

Jadmai had awoken early this morning in his bed within the walls of the palace at Abu'Sahir. At breakfast Ionis had called him to his private quarters.

"As you know we have discussed the need for a liaison between the island of Amun Rah and Sabata in Terra Incognita." The Ra-Fao of the island of Rah spoke while being tended to by several of his personal slaves, making sure his food was where and how he prefered it.

"I have arranged for a portal activation between here and the city of Sabata, where your task as ambassador will start, I would like you to go there, along with some of my finest scribes and scholars to oversee the settlement of the new office. If you feel there are other requirements to the task, please do not hesitate to mention them, as I'm eager to make this a success."

Jadmai couldn't help but note the tone of voice Ionis used. It said "You're the best man for the job" aswell as "And if you're not, I'll have your head". He spoke like that often when important matters were at stake, which said a lot for the weight the Ra-Fao had set behind his decision to appoint Jadmai as ambassador.

[Jadmai]

"Ra-fao, you are my best of friends." Jadmai said, reflecting back on the talks they had on in his own chamber about the lonliness of being a leader. "And I will do, the best job that can be done."

Jadmai almost didn't think it odd that he was not even born of this country and that his ilk were not normally well recieved.

Jadmai had not seen Ionis much in the last few days. So the dark adhiel spent most of the time, with the guards, perfecting the art of two weapon fighting...he carried six blades, best to use as many as possilbe was his reasoning.

And of course he spent all the time he could with Parmina, the concubine...assigned to him, when he arrived. Now, he has seen her through much and even saved her life. If his dedication and drive (where ever that may lay) weren't so strong he would be content to live out his days here with her.

We live long.

At least he hoped.

"I am eager to leave and start my duty for you, if I could just be escorted, and a servant brought to portal to help me tie up loose ends, I shall take my leave, bittersweet as it is."

[Brytan]

"Ah good, I knew you would be eager to get started my friend."

Ionis clapped his hands and two guards appeared through the doorway, standing at attention in front of the two men, awaiting their orders. "Escort lord Jadmai to the palace treasury after he has gathered all his belongings. Should he need you, you are to travel with him through the portal until he no longer requires your aid."

He turned to Jadmai again. "A servant will be waiting for you at your chambers to see to your needs as long as you remain in the palace. The rest of your office will be travelling through the portal soon and await you on the other end."

He raised his glass to have it filled before making a toast. "May Anasis and Uphuron smile on you always."

Jadmai let the guards lead him to his room, where he looked at his bed, were he left his only other change of clothes. A set of clothes more fitting for life in the desert, yet they didn't suit Jadmai quite right. Still, he took them and put them into his backpack.

While in his backpack he picked out an item he had made a few days ago, something peculiar for him to have in his possession: a tiara with a rising sun on it.

He turned to the servant that was in his room and handed it to him, "Please make sure it finds it's way to Parmina. If you don't know her, I am sure you will find her." Jadmai paused after he handed over the item.

God dammit

"Then tell her where I've been sent to, and ask her and Ionis' permission to wed her, at some course during my stay in Terra Incognita." He said it matter-of-factly, to avoid any show of weakness.

The dark adhiel turned towards the guards, "This is all I have. I'm ready for the treasury." He said flatly.

The Anasis room had been his for what seemed like a yahren, and he admittedly had a good time while being there, and he would miss Ionis, and Parmina, but only if he had to.

The servant took the tiara from Jadmai's hands and took a few moments to take in the instructions Jadmai gave him. Trained and taught never to ask questions of those they served the servant bowed and took his leave. "It will be done milord."

After Jadmai had all his belongings packed up, ready to trade one desert for another, the guards escorted him through the palace he had spent a great deal of time in. Further down and down until they came to the large corridor leading to the ornate doors, guarded by the best of Ionis' guards. Behind the doors a hum could be clearly heard. And as the doors opened Jadmai could see the bright vortex of light making up a portal. The large machine whirring heavily to keep the connection established.

Before the portal stood several men, dressed in the tell tale garb of Ionis' personal scribes. Obviously waiting for the dark adhiel to arrive at the portal.
As Jadmai walked up to the portal, one of his accompanying guards asked; "Will you be needing us further lord?"

Jadmai had to let himself be led this time, as he did not know where the portal was, but he was the last person who ever went on with formalities.

Once there, he looked forward at his destination.

Gods, I hate these damn things.

"No, I do not think that I will need you beyond the portal. I have heard my destination is quite open to all peoples, and my safety should be intact. I do have worries, though, but my hands know my blades well. If Ionis should feel guards should be sent at a later time, I will talk to the people of Sabatha, and make sure they understand."

With no farewell's Jadmai strode into the portal.
