What Manner of Sorcery is This? [~Open!!~] Sam 29 GT

Post by Talanwei Fortisse »

(ooc: Okay ladies and gentlemen! First off welcome, this is a pretty long opening post so get a sandwich, a cold brew, or something to keep you busy while reading  Feel free to join in, and I'll scoop you up no matter where you are in the city soon enough. The prerequisite is to kind of open things up w/ a post where your character has been dumped in New York present day almost evening time. Your character doesn't know what's going on and you can convey this as complex or simply as you wish. So read on if you wish or just hop to the reply button and away we go!)

Falling, tilting, spinning.....

It was a feeling of exquisite vertigo that rolled from stomach and effected even the furthest of extremities. His fingers tingled and his body prickled as if being barely touched with tiny needles. Then there was a feeling of settling. His ears rung with the very sound of settling as his feet touched the ground. Was it ground? Did he even have feet? In this dark he couldn’t tell what state he was in. The tingling told him that limbs were still present. It was just this damnable dark! It was not what was normally referred to as darkness, where moonlight afforded you some sort of sight. It was in a pure form the absence of light altogether. What was odd was that this dark did not oppress, it did not crush down on someone or cause unease. There was an almost liquid quality to its presence, like one could swim through it with minimal effort.

Movement, warmth, whispers, voices....

How to get out of this dark? Then it occurred to him, one had to simply...

open your eyes... the whisper compelled him to obey.

A cacophony of sound rattled his skull and light speared his eyes, causing him to close his eyes. The darkness that was granted was not the same as moments before. It was almost a slight tint of reddish orange because the light persisted even through closed eyes. Talanwei struggled with all his might to get two firm figurative hands on his bearings. The young man's feet were on solid ground and he could feel the slight breeze of this place. There was an acrid smell of smoke, or something like it. There was the blat of a horn of some sort and a squealing sound. The young man also became aware of the dull roar of voices, passing him, close to him, shouting, simply talking...it was disorienting indeed. Slowly he opened his emerald eyes to the sunlight and one of the most odd sights he had yet seen.

The paladin was mired in a sea of people that moved like a current around him. Where he stood he could not see any grass, no rolling hills, and there was the occasional tree. However these trees seemed to sprout out of solid stone. Except for this stone was neither mountain nor natural rock but a flat expanse that stretched before him of dark grey stone. He was standing on a raised portion of this queer material and where most of the people around him were walking. On the road, if that was indeed what it appeared to be, were...well, of what they were the Achadiel was not entirely certain. The seemed to be carriages of some sort, but were not horse drawn. They seemed to be powered by some unseen locomotion. Looking upon the contraptions made Talanwei feel slightly dizzy and he looked at the ground in front of him.

What manner of sorcery...is this?

These thoughts melted because it was then that he took in his own appearance. First of all it was no tunic, trousers, boots or even his normal paladin mail. On his feet were an odd affair whose cloth portion consisted of a denim like material that was black with a depiction of a star on it’s side. Looking closely he saw that the words read in human "Converse All-Star". The soles were a material that was hard enough to walk on but definitely not leather. The pants were a darkened blue, faded on the thigh and were certainly denim however they were much softer than that which he was used to. The pants were loose on his legs and the edges were frayed where they touched the ground only slightly. Looking down as he was, the Achadiel caught sight of his hair. Normally a deep brown, it was a few shades lighter and shot through with streaks of black. Holding a few strands he looked at it quizzically and then finally regarded his shirt. It was undeniably cotton, well worn and close fitted to his lean upper torso. There was a slight difficulty reading the words printed under a distorted picture of a skull. It read "Ramones" also in human with white block letters on the black background. There was little time to puzzle over his attire as a man ran into him sending him back a step. The man was tiny so he rebounded off of the leanly muscled Achadiel rather soundly.

Robert Plott was having a bad day. His suit hadn’t come back from the cleaners so he had to wear the same suit twice in a week. On top of that, he had forgotten his lunch on the train and had to go out for lunch. Then of course there was the morning full of appointments he had filled. Needless to say, Robert felt as if he had enough bad fortune to lament this day. Hell, if he was unlucky, he would miss the night train and have to take a taxi ALL the way home. Mr. Plott thought that it would be just his bad luck. As he was grumbling to himself, running over the train schedule that he had memorized, Robert ran full into another person. He had been going along at a good pace but the impact felt like he had hit a wall even though the other man had been forced to take a step.

"Hey! Watch where you’re going!" said the businessman who was a few inches shorter than Talanwei and looked the Achadiel square in the chest before he looked up into green eyes. Even though the paladin was not familiar with the mode of dress in this place, he was certain that the man was dressed in finer clothing than he currently was. Talanwei saw at the angry expression the man wore who looked as if he wanted an apology.

"My apologies good sir," said Talanwei and added, "Could you tell me...where I am?"

Robert looked at the odd looking individual with a furrowed brow and held his briefcase a bit closer to himself. The younger man looked as if he was out of place for some reason. Like he was looking a part that he wasn't playing. The hair was typical, a Ramones t-shirt, and worn blue jeans...the kid looked like he belonged in a rock band or something. However Robert wasn't into that stuff, if it wasn't Chopin, Pachelbel or Bach he wasn't really listening. Yet it was the clear way he spoke with a hint of an accent that made him pause.

"Is this perhaps, Worlds Mouth? The Western Continent somewhere?" asked Talanwei. He had heard of technological advances in those areas. The paladin had not seen these places first hand and the question was simply met with an odd look.

"What the hell..." muttered Robert starting to edge away.

"Hell? Is that where we are?" asked Talanwei looking up at the buildings. The ones that went higher into the sky than anything he had ever seen. It was an imposing sight and the Achadiel had not seen anything like this. By Illuminatus, there had not been trees as tall even passing T’aquar on boat. Talanwei’s statement actually made Robert laugh out loud softening his mood a bit. The older man shook his head and started to walk off.

"You can say that again. Take it easy kid," said Robert raising a hand as he walked off. The Achadiel nodded, so Hell it was eh? He committed that to memory as the sea of people swallowed the smaller man, Talanwei suddenly smelled something wafting through the air. The paladin suddenly realized that he was ravenous. It was comical to see the tall Achadiel following his nose through the crowd avoiding bumping into people as he went. It was easy enough to navigate through them but with the smell of exhaust from the cars passing, and the other things that assailed a nose not used to these aromas made finding the source of the smell harder to find.

"New York’s finest! Grab yourself a dog, polish, foot long, you name it we’se got it!" it was the voice of a portly man standing by a silvered cart of some sort. His hair was thinning on his head leaving a horseshoe of hair about a shiny head. On his apron were a few stains, some vivid yellow and others an orange-red. The man spoke in heavily accented human so that words like "York" sounded like "yowuk" or something similar. All of his words were accented like this making him a bit hard to understand to someone like Talanwei who had never heard a New York accent.

The cart itself looked as if were equipped to repel an assault of some sort plated with metal as it was. If this were the case the shiny face of the material did not lend itself well to stealth and the shouting man certainly did not help. It was then that Talanwei realized that it was from this very cart that the smell was coming from. Talanwei walked up to the traveling chef and looked at the cart.

"What sort of food stuffs do you deal in?" said Talanwei trying not to sound so formal and failing miserably. Ulysses Sanchez was the man’s name, needless to say his parents had an eclectic taste in names. This rock star reject talked a little too fancy for his taste. Kids these days, thinking they could try to be all smart around their elders. Even though the kid would probably buy a hot dog, Ulysses was not up for games today. The hot dog vendor looked at him with an arched brow, wiping his hands on a hand towel.

"Food stuffs? We only got hot dogs bub, no caviar here. You want one or not?" said the round vendor thumbing through the money he had yet to put in his pocket. The Achadiel saw numerous scraps of green paper that he determined were the currency of this odd place. Talanwei nodded slowly looking at the cart once more. Whatever it was he certainly wanted one. Ulysses surveyed the kid with growing curiosity, he looked clean enough, albeit a bit confused. If the kid was strung out on something he was probably hungry, but ever business minded, the vendor wanted to make sure the kid had cash.

"All right, foot long is two-fifty," said Ulysses waiting for the kid to show him some money. Talanwei was confused for but a moment and it dawned upon him, payment. The Achadiel reached into the pockets in the jeans he wore. He felt a fold of paper in the depths and a few coins of unknown value. He pulled them out and Ulysses was satisfied. The larger man began to craft a hot dog that, in his own modest opinion, was the best to be had from 40th Ave. to Broadway. He even gave it a little extra panache because the kid looked like he was starving. Talanwei palmed in his free hand the piece of paper that had a man on it and showed the numeral twenty in its corners. It looked the closest to what the man had put into his own pocket. As Ulysses handed the hot dog over, he held out his hand.

"Two-fifty, kid," said the older man and Talanwei handed him the slip of paper. Ulysses looked at it for a second.

Of course, high roller here has to break me of my ones...

"You got anything smaller than this?" said Ulysses to the young looking man. Talanwei took back his money and handed the man the largest silver coin he had. Ulysses laughed and shook his head.

"Hardy har, wise guy. The twenty’ll do ya just fine," he said holding out the quarter and reaching again for the money Talanwei had just taken back. The paladin felt that the man should make up his mind as he handed back the twenty dollar bill. It was a good thing that the man thought that Talanwei was simply joking or he could have taken him for the whole bill. The paladin looked at the amount of bills he was given back and then back to Ulysses wondering if he had been given too much.

"Well? G’wan! It’s the right change smarty pants," said Ulysses, mildly insulted but added as an afterthought, "Enjoy your dog man!"

"Many thanks good chef," Talanwei brought the hotdog close to his head as he made the merest hint of a bow. Ulysses eyebrows rose at the compliment.

Chef? Hell I just make hotdogs y’know?

His idle thought made him smile. Pausing for a moment, seeming to think, the older man reached into the iced portion of his cart and grabbed a Pepsi for the weird kid. With a flick of his wrist he tossed the can to Talanwei. The Achadiel caught it easy enough and looked at the vendor arching his own eyebrow in turn.

"God, what are ya, foreign, kid? Not all of us are jerks in the Big Apple. Take it and get outta here," said Ulysses, satisfied with his good deed for the day. Talanwei smiled and turned making his way into the crowd again. So the Big Apple was another name for this place? It was the oddest name he had ever heard for a kingdom, if in fact this was a kingdom he was in. Without thinking further Talanwei swiftly mounted the wide steps that led into a large city park and took his first bite of the hotdog he had been given. He closed his eyes for but a moment, for some reason he was ridiculously hungry.

The paladin concentrated on the odd meal and within the space of a few burns it was gone. Talanwei then turned his attentions to the can he had been given, frowning darkly. It was cold, as if it had been somehow chilled by some manner of sorcery. He then tipped it end over end seeing how the contraption was to be opened. The Achadiel tapped it against the wall lightly to no avail. It was then that he looked at what he assumed was the top of the can and fiddled with the tab seeing that it was pliable. With a little twist of his fingers there was a hissing *pssh-pop* sound that made him start ever so slightly.

First Talanwei smelled the opened hole in the can. This passed the first test, it did not have the look of poison. Putting it to his lips the liquid touched his lips with an odd effervescence and he was pleasantly surprised by the taste. Surprise quickly turned to distaste at the sugary sweetness of the drink. With a few gulps he quickly put the drink down and made his way out to the current of bodies moving down the street. The tall half adhiel had learned to keep his pace or the threat of collision would rear itself again. It was while walking with no particular destination that his thoughts bubbled to the front of his mind.

What am I doing in this place? Where exactly am I? Hell? The "Big Apple"? There has to be something that I was sent here to do. Illuminatus, show me your will...

Even while walking he reached for his God and no sign came, it was a sense of nothingness. There was a terrifying moment that he feared that for some reason this place would not allow him to touch Illuminatus. It was then that slow, bubbling warmth grazed the outer edge of his consciousness. Talanwei’s fear lessened but his concern remained. It felt as if he could not fully immerse himself in the Light or draw upon it. Some queer notion told him not to try this in a crowd of people and he resigned to wait until he was in private.

Shelton Murphy was walking down the street thumbing through the fliers he was supposed to hand out. His friends called him Smurf as a mish mash of his first and last name. In elementary school he had beaten the daylights out of the last kid that had made fun of his name. It had not happened since. He was a eighteen year old young man just into his second go round of senior year. The schools didn’t like him. Hell, one just had to look at him to know why. He was just under six feet, skinny as a rail, with pierced eyebrow, lip, ears and who knew what else. Then on top of his head was a shock of crimson hair tipped in blonde and spiked to high heaven. This day he was dressed in a black down filled vest and a Led Zepplin t-shirt under which was white prevalently and black depicting a winged man, holding a guitar. He was in some cargo shorts also black and a pair of shoes that looked most suited on board the skateboard that was strapped under his backpack.

Looking at the fliers he held, it was a pretty glossy little paper about the size of a half sheet of loose leaf. It read off an address first, a grand opening of a club...lounge, whatever the hell it was it looked kind of cool. What threw Smurf off was the dragon curled about the picture of the Earth. He wasn’t even sure it was Earth because below this picture in curling lettering it read "Tazlure". Weird name for sure, but it seemed to jump out at the young man. Something otherworldly about it’s presence. His older brother was a DJ at the joint and had charged the boy and his friends with the task of getting some buzz out on the street for the opening tonight. He was compelled to do just this and was still looking over the flier when he plowed into somebody. Rather hard too and even though he wasn’t looking in front of him he was, in a snap, indignant. Shelton prided himself on the ability to walk through a crowd while reading something or otherwise not watching his path. So for someone to walk into him either they had to be seriously not paying attention or trying to piss him off.

"Hey, man, what the fu...~!" said the young man people called Smurf. Dropping a few of the fliers he stopped in mid profane utterance adding, "Ah, damn it bro! Look at this! You gotta watch where you’re..."

The teen had half expected the man to walk on without saying a word, his appearance tended to do this to most in the respect of avoiding trouble. Instead, this guy knelt and helped him retrieve his fliers that had fluttered to the ground.

Talanwei had this time been run into by a young man, probably younger than he himself. In this particular collision, which he seemed to be developing a penchant for, there was a mild eruption of paper that fell to the ground. Talanwei knelt and picked up a few of the papers and one word stood out like a brand. It struck him between the eyes like a smiths hammer.

Tazlure

Absently the paladin handed back the papers save one. He held onto it like it was a doctrine from Illuminatus himself. It was the only familiar thing from this world and he was not letting go of it for the life of him. Talanwei locked green eyes sparked with purple with the youth’s own cobalt.

"What is this place? Where is it?" asked Talanwei evenly. The young man looked at the flier as if he hadn’t seen it before.

"Oh that? Meh, I don’t know if I should tell a guy that can’t watch where he’s going..." Smurf wasn’t that bent out of shape about it, hell the guy had helped him when a normal person would have just bailed. However he didn’t know if he should just tell anybody about what was going on. As he stood, he reached for the flier Talanwei held. The paladin kept it from his grasp, eyes pleading with the boy. Shelton though that if he tried to take the flier it could result in a fight. He was no stranger with a scrap but something told him that this wasn't the way. Maybe it was the look in the guy's eyes, maybe it was the way he carried himself, Smurf didn't know but he looked Talanwei up and down. He grinned, putting his free hand into his pocket.

"Ramones...nice!" he then paused to think.

Chuck Taylors...blue jeans...Ramones, fuck, this guy looks okay enough.

Talanwei looked at his shirt, maybe this word was the name of some God of this land? From the boys friendly enough expression, it seemed as if he would actually get somewhere.

"Okay, here's the deal, that place," he said pointing to the flier, "Is a club, new joint openin' tonight. My bro's a DJ there and it's supposed to be a colorful scene. Lotsa weird folks, come to think of it, kind of like yourself if you catch my drift. Supposed'ta be some good music, drinks if you prefer, and some dancing if you get yerself a wild hair if ya catch my continued drift. Give it a look see and you won't be disappointed, promise."

Talanwei brushed the hair away from the side of his head, looking at the dying sun. Some of the words he didn't catch, most he did and they still didn't make a great deal of sense. All he knew was that this was the only thing that struck a chord in this weird place. It couldn't have been sheer coincidence that the "club" had the same name as the world as Talanwei knew it.

It was then that Smurf caught a glance of the guys ear, it was fuckin pointy! Then he just looked at the guy, what was his deal? He looked like any typical punk just screwing off a nice afternoon doing nothing. Something was off though, not quite...normal. Smurf didn't want to be a total ass but he had to say something.

"Dude, that's the coolest thing I've ever seen!" said Shelton in a reverent tone. He thought it was something that Talanwei had done to the ear, it reminded him of one of those guys from a video game or something. Like, one of those elf guys, that was it. Zelda maybe? Shelton wasn't sure, but he knew the pointy ears were wicked cool even if they weren't natural. The Achadiel looked at him quizzically, the comment jarring him from his thoughts.

"What?" asked Talanwei, unsure of what was being referred to.

"Dude, your ear...that's rock and roll bro," said Smurf nodding appreciatively. Talanwei frowned, not sure how to respond. The younger man then shrugged not thinking he would have taken the compliment the way he did. Talanwei seemed to be lost in thought and the younger man decided to leave him to it.

"Whatever man, you take it easy bro," said Smurf starting to walk. Talanwei was not ready for this and stammered.

"Um...how do I find this place again?" he called after the boy. Shelton then turned around and gave him two peace signs.

"Hey, you'll find it. It just...kinda stands out y'know?" said the young man. The sea of people swallowed him and Talanwei turned his glance again to the sun falling behind the large buildings of stone. These towers would make it difficult to see the stars, when they came. The Achadiel was also mildly worried, for by this time he would have normally seen stars poking through the afternoon sky. This world seemed washed out, as if the inherent color of everything had been put through a wringer and this was all that was left. It was all greys, blacks, and browns that made up almost everything he saw. No green grasses, no hills, nothing at all to remind him of home...except the damnable piece of paper. Talanwei then started walking again, not knowing his exact destination but inexorably drawn to it without even knowing.

His mind span with a multitude of colours. A sensation that was, at the same time, both bewildering and serenely sublime. Yet also familiar. What was happening to him? Where was he? Despite the lights that danced with teasing deliverance, a darkness swallowed him, a cool and disturbing blackness through which he could not find his way. The lights misled him, beckoning him into these shadows that swamped him, dragged him down into a miserable pit of desperation. Ashtallion was lost in this strange darkness, he wanted to lash out and sunder it with magic, rip a hole into the world of light and colour. “ Father, help your lost son…. “, he muttered the prayer to his god, his Father of Storm and Light.

Almost in answer to his prayer, an orange light, annoying at first after being in the secluded darkness, pierced his mind, the shadows retreating with angry shrieks before the saving illumination. The sorcerer opened his eyes, golden blue pupils widening as the stronger light flooded them, adjusting. Asht had to suppress a gasp, standing as he was in the middle of a seething throng of people. So many people. Panic seized hold of his chest, tightening around his wind pipe, unable to catch his breath.

The adhiel closed his eyes once more, composing himself, taking control once more of his mind. He was Master there, nothing else could overwhelm him, he had not trained so diligently and hard to be overcome by such a simple situation. Yet he knew it was not something simple. At any rate he regained his composure… the Heavens forbid that a human should see him, an adhiel, lose his grasp on his emotions. Opening those slanted, almond shaped eyes, Ashtallion Urdil regarded the moving mass of people once more. Firstly, he noted they were all humans, garbed in odd attire. With this many humans, Ashtallion wanted to shrink in on himself, anger welled in him as he recalled some unpleasant memories. They were too many though.

Legs of lead refused to move as he tried to walk. Refusing to tremble, Asht forced his stiff limbs into motion, one foot in front of the other. He spotted a side ally not far off and pushed through the humans to get to it. Many did not move quickly, others shouldered him out of the way. Did they not realise who he was? Others upon seeing the Robes of a Magi would think twice before pushing him aside. It was then he looked down to discover that he wasn’t wearing robes…

Rounding the small corner, he rested against the wall of a large stone building. It was enormous to say the least and incredibly intimidating. But he was out of that horrible high way of humans, they seemed to move like ants, one way or another.

The mage caught side of himself in a reflection in the building opposite whose walls appeared to be made of hundreds of mirrors. A fascinating design.

Gone were the robes of his profession to be replaced with a pair of soft, black trousers, not the leather breeches many males favoured on Tazlure, but a fine material the likes of which he had never felt. It did not chaff against his legs, which another other pair of breeches would have done after the freedom of his robes. A white t-shirt, short sleeved, a low v-neck and fitted tightly against his slimly defined physique. The mage felt his normally pale cheeks redden at how tight the trousers and strange top were against his skin. A silver pendant hung around his neck, the only bit of familiarity on his person as it was the one he normally wore, the end of it a clear crystal. Black, slightly pointed and strange shoes adorned his feet, odd to walk in.

Ashtallion remained against the wall for several minutes, calming himself and trying to figure out what he had last been doing. The wizard couldn’t remember for the life of him what he had been doing before finding himself in that darkness.

For one thing, he was certain he was not on Tazlure, or if he was, it was a City he had never seen nor heard of before. There was one thing that would maintain his control. Ashtallion sought out the aetheric threads of energy…..and drew them to him. The power filled him with a comforting sensation, making him confident and secure.

He braced the mass of humans, enfolding a shield of air around him, not hard so as to heavily repulse those around him, but enough to as to ensure they would not bump into him. They wouldn’t notice the shield. It was clear, pure threads of air energy, nothing to distort its shape or density. Suddenly, something pasted against the shield, one words sticking out on it, trapping his mind.

Tazlure.

He dropped the magic and grabbed the flyer, reading over the common words as best he could, it not being his first language. Still he was good enough to understand most of it. Throwing a few locks of rebellious golden hair over his shoulder, revealing the pointed ears of his adhiel heritage…..this drawing a few strange and dubious looks from passer bys….he looked around.

Now it was just a question of finding this place that called itself Tazlure. The Magus meandered through the crowd, stopping anyone that would speak to him, asking for directions.

ooc: *sigh* nobody loves me... No, no! It's fine, just ignore me! I see how it is! Join guys! PLEEAAASE??
Smurf was going about his business after talking with the weird pointy eared guy. The young man was not one prone to much reflection in most cases but something about Talanwei had stuck with him. He found himself wondering what the story was behind him and why exactly he was so shaken with just looking at the fliers. What was the deal with that? While Shelton was thinking to himself, an errant gust of wind pulled one of his fliers from the stack he was carrying and whipped it through the crowd. Of course because the youth had never been exposed to magicks of any type, the focus of Asht’s threads of sorcery were lost upon his nonexistent senses in that respect. Like a dog following a particularly intriguing scent, Smurf weaved through the crowd with a grace found only in those city born pursuing the slip of paper. For some reason the young man didn’t feel that everyone should know about this place so he was intent on retrieving it before it got into the wrong hands. It was an odd train of thought for Shelton for he didn’t very much worry about anything.

Shelton watched as the flier seemed to hit a wall and stop in mid air. Looking up he saw a fair skinned, lean man with golden hair. What hit the young man even more squarely was the man’s golden eyes. When Asht flipped his hair out of the way Shelton saw the more pronounced point on the Magus’ ear. Now his curiosity was piqued and an odd feeling moved through his stomach and it was more intense than it had been with Talanwei. This man seemed somehow, different, in an even more prevalent way than the Achadiel. Smurf watched as the smaller man plucked the flier out of thin air and noted the almost imperceptible widening of the eyes. Before he could act Asht started wheeling through the crowd attempting to speak to people, most of which ignored him. The young man caught up to him easily enough, and tapped his shoulder. Smurf meant it friendly enough but he didn’t know how the mage would react as he turned.

“Um...you have, one of my...fliers man,” stammered the young man. For some reason Smurf was off his game. This was odd to him because this normally did not happen. Something about Asht felt older, timeless, like he was from some other where. This day had gotten progressively more weird and it didn’t look like there was an end in sight.
OOCT hats just not true! And to prove it...

IC

Dory prayed the spinning would stop. She never had problems with getting sick before, but then everything happens for the first time at some point. Every passing second seemed to last for eternity, so she hadn't the slightest idea for how long it all lasted. Then there was this feeling of free fall and all of a sudden she was standing on solid ground again.
Not loosing her balance was a challenge, but after a few seconds her eyes adapted. And the view that opened before her was something OUT OF THIS WORLD...or at least out of TAZLURE.

There were these big, no, HUGE buildings built out of an odd rock material. And the architecture was fascinating, but mostly because they were soooo BIG. And they stood all over the place. It was even hard to see the sky, you really had to look straight up. And neither trees or plain old simple dirt anywhere. The air smelled funny also. It was something like after that explosion in uncle Ettv's office. Something went wrong on an magic experiment.

Another thing that fascinated Dory was the amount of mirrors and shiny surfaces. especially on those buildings.
Looking all the way up, Dory hardly noticed where she was going... She wandered out on some open street with thousands of humans walking around, all dressed soooo oddly. But then she noticed something even more fascinating.

They were some sort of wagons...metal ones and they moved without any horses or mules, cows camels...no nothing!!!! There were people sitting inside and they moved so fast all the way up to.... when they stopped in a big line of similar wagons and started to make a terribly loud sound -"BEEEP!"
Could those things be alive or where they some odd mechanical instrument meant for moving in and making such terrible noise?

And then there were also hundreds of these huge signs in human all over the place! Oh this was UNFAIR!!!! There wasn't a single thing in ADHIEL!!!
And she wasn't really great with human, just think of all the stuff she might miss!

But before she even had a chance to even look for a sign of her native language or other adhiels she got bumped in to.

" Hey, watch where your goi... Oh, tourists...I see." said a man in a funny grey suit.

" Sorry, so sorry. I'm not from here." started Dory. She had a heavy adhiel accent, but it was understandable.

" Fifth avenues that way." pointed the funny man. " And don't go straying off to far. Hey, don't they warn you in hotels? New York isn't exactly a place you'd want to get lost."

But before Dory had any time to ask anything the little funny man was already gone, leaving Dory feeling a bit confused. So this wasn't the Citadel?

It felt not only confusing, but also startling, maybe even a bit scary... Most of all, she had never heard of a kingdom called "New York" and neither did she know any "OLD York".

Dory finally shut her mouth, that was open from the very second she saw the buildings, and frowned.

Where was she? This didn't even seem to be tazlure anymore....a scary thought. And something she didn't even want to start thinking about was how she was going to get back.

Instead, while desperately trying to stop her hands from shaking she put the problem in another perspective.

" If am here, and I didn't come here myself...it must be the will of the gods then, won't it? If mages have sent me, then the spell must have backfired and erased my memory, in that case they'll still come for me. And if I'm dreaming...oh forget that one. This is all real enough. It doesn't fl as though I'll simply wake up at some point." - thought Dory.

" So I might as well enjoy my stay, maybe gather some information about this place... Except I'm not...". the adhiel looked down at her clothing. It was as funny as that of the other people. She was wearing light pick jeans 3/4 length with a lot of buttons, pockets and glittery gems on them, a shirt with some pictures on it and saying - "I LOVE NEW YORK", it fit tightly around her upper body, a little to tightly for comfort, she was brought with the "proper" understanding of how to dress. Yet this place might have had different standard and the material actually "stretched, making the shirt very comfortable to wear.
There were also funny light pick shoes on her feet. They were soft and also comfortable. Then there was something funny on her head....(a plane baseball cap)....around her neck and on her back.

The thing around her neck seemed to be a sort of amulet or something of a magic sort. It was small, thin, square, silver and had a lot of buttons and a shiny square plane black area at the back. (a digital photo camera).

And around her back was....something quite familiar actually. It was a funny looking back pack. Peach , not of leather, but another funny material. The thing was decorated with question marcs and a small sign the said "GUESS".

" Guess what?" asked Dory. Looking inside she found a lot of what she referred to as "stuff" not knowing a better word for it. But deciding that perhaps the middle of the street wasn't the best place to study these newly found belongings, she swung the back pack over her shoulder and started walking in the direction the funny man had pointed. Maybe this "Fifth Avenue" was exactly the place she should have ben going.... There was a chance that it wasn't though, but Dory simply crossed out that thought from her mind.

Ashtallion whipped around swiftly to regard the human, his golden eyes fixing intently on the young man. That timeless quality, one that could often be attributed to adhiel and also users of magic, held doubly so for him. An unusual eye colour to say the least, it would hold a persons soul in it until the golden haired adhiel deem it so to release them. " What is this.... fliers you speak of? ", despite speaking human, it was obvious he was foreign, his words heavily accented, the tone almost musical, beautiful to hear when heard by human ears.

He looked down at the bit of paper in his hand, ignoring its strange feel, he moved forward, coming close to the human, " Tell me, human, you know where this place is? Where Tazlure is? ", there was a tone of desperation and of command, here was someone that demanded answers and would not let up unless he obtained them. The mage radiated an aura of power, not something that would be picked up by the human, whose senses were not so attuned to the flows of power, but he would certainly feel something.

The stange clothes he wore, when compared to the human, were well made and tailored, the fabric of excellent quality, the t-shirt had a word printed on it.... D&G. It was a symbol lost on the mage.

That arresting gaze had still not left the human, shadows swirled behind his golden orbs, holding secrets, holding back his surging fear.

Maybe it was the swift turn that Asht made, maybe it was the gilded bands around the iris of the Adhiel that were so much more intense closer up, perhaps it was the odd feeling that struck Shelton somewhere deep with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. The young human had no way of knowing what was so special about Ashtallion but first meeting Talanwei had unknowingly awakened something in him. It seemed to get stronger with the meeting of the lean mage. With his growing awareness he was speechless in the face of the intensity that seemed to flow from Asht. It was almost like a palpable current of electricity that hummed around the mage that the young human could not explain.

For a full few moments, he simply blinked, dumbfounded, as Asht spoke with a noticeable accent. The guy was sharply dressed, any dummy could see this, and though he was a smaller than Smurf he was imposing in some way. The young man jarred himself out of his thoughts as Asht awaited a response to his questions. He pointed to the paper in Asht’s hand absently looking from it to the sorcerer’s face.

“That...is my flier but keep it man. I’ve got plenty...” said Shelton scratching his head, “The directions are on the flier actually...”

What was written on the advertisement likely served to confuse the Adhiel more than anything and instead of let it stop there, Smurf went on. It was more than what he had done for Talanwei and he felt a little bad about that, but this guy was a little more intimidating.

“You want to go down to Talladega avenue, then you take a right on 5th Avenue and it’ll have big signs. Pretty big building, there should already be some people there. Come to think of it you might catch up with the guy I was just talking to! He was taller than you and his ears weren’t as pointy...” said the young man to the mage. To draw attention to the street he was talking about he pointed in the correct direction.

A man clad in a dirty trenchcoat and a pair of equally dirty brown trousers woke up in the alley. It had been his home for quite a while now...in fact, he didn't really remember what he had done before this very day. The smell of alcohol arose from his clothing, his breath, and even his body. It was clear that the man had been living in this place for quite a while.

Though it was only a few boxes and some tattered rags that served as the bed behind a dumpster, the man figured it was his home. It wasn't the time of day that woke him from his drunken stupor...rather it was the loud sound of gas emitting from his posterior...or at least that's what he thought it was until he realized that he had in fact crapped himself....again.

As he sorted through the dumpster to find something to clean himself with, he came upon a strangely inviting piece of paper. It said something about a place called Tazlure. ~Sounds nice. I bet they have a nice bathroom where I can clean myself,~ he thought to himself. After using the flyer to remove most of the filth, the unkempt man staggered along the alley to the street; heading in the general direction of Tazlure.

Most people stared at him as he passed them by. It wasn't for the fact that he smelled like a bottle of rotten booze, or that he had recently soiled himself. Rather, it was due to the fact that his hands, face, neck, and chest (and probably the rest of his body) were covered in odd runes and tiger striped tattoos. He had noticed them, but took them as normal for an unknown reason. His black hair was long and wild...and hadn't been washed in quite a while. For these reasons, though he received many looks in his direction, people gave him a wide path on which he could freely walk. Nobody dared get in his way.

As the strangely marked man walked down the street, there was a certain swagger in his step. It wasn't arrogance or pride...perhaps it was due to some forgotten ability that the man possessed. The world seemed strange to him. There were strange structures all around, the people seemed to be wearing clothing foreign to him, and metal beasts moved hurredily down the strange black road. Fear was not something the man knew though, and something in his mind gave him comfort that he had survived many bad and strange encounters before.

As he continued to walk, the man realized something solid rubbing against his legs under the long coat. A brief look down let him know what it was. There were a pair of swords attached to a belt. Fortunately, the coat covered their presence, as they were not very long. Unfortunately, he only became further confused. It seemed appropriate for them to be there, but the man did not know why.

The problem he had was his memory. Nothing prior to the moment he woke in the alley by the box full of trash was present in his mind. It was as if he had been born at that very instant. His name was not even known to himself.

Tazlure came into view and he continued his pace until he reached the door. There was a man standing there, as if to keep watch over who entered. A dirty hand extended from the tattooed man and handed the other the flyer that he had found in the dumpster. It didn't seem to bother him that the flyer was covered in his own filth. "I found this. Seemed like a nice place." The words did not indicate it, but his voice contained a certain power...as if he had been accustomed to having authority. His appearance did not do anything to back up that position though.

He waited a response...almost as if expecting the other man to recognize him and welcome him inside...

On 5th Avenue there was a new establishment that had opened to the public. There was a scrawling twisting lettering that read Tazlure in human, common, Adhiel...whatever language spoken it read cleanly to all. There was a large circular sign with a green and blue depiction of the world, or more accurately, a world. It’s continents were unlike those on Earth, and they would look eerily familiar to anyone from Tazlure. Wrapped around this sign was a plump cartoon depiction of a dragon in brilliant green. There were small windows near the top of the wall that faced the street. The front of the building was unremarkable, a simple tan paint on the face of it and large, polished oak double doors that were bound in iron on their edges. These were cast open leading into a small receiving room that led into the larger interior. Even those that looked straight into the doors could see only so much before deep blue curtains obstructed view.

The man standing in front of Tazlure was Domingo Filanez. He was tall, solidly built, and not one for fun and games. The expression he wore said this. His hair was black, short, and curly on his head. Along his jaw line a cleanly shaved line led into a goatee the same color as his hair. Domingo was dressed in a black form fitting shirt that buttoned down and the sleeves held silver cufflinks with a white inlay. His pants were soft black trousers that broke cleanly on a set of leather shoes that had a squared off toe. The tall Spaniard cut an imposing physical figure as he stood with folded arms in front of the entry to Tazlure’s double doors.

When the unkempt man half swaggered, half stumbled to the door, there was a dark frown on Domingo’s face. This was because he could see the flier clearly in the man’s hand which meant he was going to request entry. The frown deepened as he caught the smell the man put off. With an extended hand he took the flier by index and thumb eyeing it utterly flummoxed. Is that...? The bouncer laughed, long and loud, throwing the flier in the trash can beside him. This was odd because Domingo had thought he was not prone to such foolery tonight of all nights, especially in such a crude vein as this was. The whole night the bouncer had been turning people away from the club, had in fact been finding reasons why people could not enter. For some reason, this man felt like he fit here and this directly clashed with Domingo’s rational mind. He was as filthy as a person could be, but his demeanor. The spirit he held behind those dull eyes. Domingo was convinced, this man, whoever he was needed to be here and it was instinct that won over common sense.

“Yeah, yeah. It is a nice place, probably not nice enough for a gentleman of your stature,” Domingo said this with a jesting tone and continued, “Anyway, go ahead inside and see if you can get yourself a change of clothes while your at it. Bathrooms are on the right. Clean yourself up and have fun.”

The bouncers voice had just the hint of an accent and he stepped to one side, giving the Adhiel warrior full access to the open doors. If Dray chose to step inside, he would go under the high arch of the doors into a decently sized oval lobby with large plush chairs along the west wall. They were upholstered with red material akin to soft cotton. If he decided to go further, there were thick curtains of blue that once pushed apart would lead into the large interior. On the far east wall there were doors that led into the bathrooms for men and women respectively. Directly to the right there was a door that reached waist high and into the coat check of the establishment that was tenanted by a short woman with cool blonde hair. Dray would surely a full outfit for him and even shoes (one wouldn’t believe the things left in a club!) to allow him something clean to change into before visiting the bathroom. The bathrooms were predominantly white with black marble on the counter tops. The basins were deep and wide enough to wash face, hands, even feet if it was needed. There were also stalls large enough to accomodate free movment. That was, if the Adhiel decided to enter of course.

***~~*~~***

The sun sent dying spears of light through the spaces between the myriad sky scrapers. The night was creeping slowly, as if it were hesitant to finish the sun and take ownership of the sky. The moon was a silent follower of her brother sun and she stood meekly in the heavens awaiting her turn. The wind had begun to pick up in the streets of New York swirling paper and various detritus in its arms. Along with the wind an edge of cold had tinted the air. It was just enough to make someone pull their coat of choice that much closer.

Talanwei had no such coat to pull close and being so used to the sun of Citadel pounding on him, it was quite cold to the sun bronzed Achadiel. Still he walked down the swiftly vacating streets of New York unconsciously making his way to Tazlure. In a short time the tall paladin had learned to weave through the people that walked these streets. It was odd the inattentiveness that they displayed regularly. It was as if none of these people had seen any kind of combat or hardship. There were more people that had grown large and round than he had seen at one time. Coupled with this were the general atmosphere of complacency and the lack of inherent magic in the air. Since Talanwei was intimately acquainted with drawing upon the power of the Bright One he was sensitive to others that had the same quality and to a lesser degree those that came from Tazlure. Thusly he felt a small tickle in his sub consciousness others from his world appeared. The paladin had no knowledge that this was what the sensation meant so he made his way forward without pause. When he finally reached 5th Avenue he turned and saw it. It made his breath catch in his throat because the sign was in clear Adhiel.

There were still a good amount of people traipsing around 5th Avenue in the growing dark but in the throng of people moving to and fro there was another figure that caught his eye. As the Achadiel saw her face beneath the odd hat on her head he marked her appearance but it was not this that had caught his attention. She seemed to glow from within, yet without glowing at all. The woman seemed to stand out without doing anything in particular. Beneath the young woman's hat, hair colored a few shades darker than honey went down almost to the middle of her back. Like most of this world, her clothing was an odd affair but she was not like them. As he walked unconsciously closer, the feeling got more intense. Talanwei walked purposefully to make her look in his direction and when their eyes met he smiled. The paladin didn't know her by appearance but there was no mistaking the brand of familiarity of Adhiel blood that bound them. With this, the achadiel weaved through the crowd toward Dory desperately wanting to speak with her. He stood an armlength from the Adhiel woman. At this proximity he could see that she was of full blood. A warm smile crossed his face and he bowed to her respectively.

"Namaste acha," Talanwei said in musical Adhiel. His tone was a cool tenor and he saw her eyes light up as he spoke.

"It is good to see someone from Tazlure even in this place," said the paladin still speaking in Adhiel as he looked up at the buildings that pierced the heavens. He ran fingers through his hair out of habit and looked back toward her with his dark jade eyes. The achadiel was thrilled to find her but this stemmed from the fact that most importantly Dory’s presence simply and exquisitely tasted of home.

This Fifth Avenue was a spectacular sight! As the night started slowly taking it's rule over the city, the store fronts lighted up with magnificent lights as well as everything else. Dory knew she would never forget such a sight.
Never did she even dream of seing such places!

Dianissiya took a deep breath and..coughed. Well, this is live everything simply can't be perfect. Just don't want to make that mistake again.
And still this was by far the most amassing experience in her life.

"And they all sort of fit in, don't they?" she thought taking another look around the crowd.
And suddenly her brown eyes met with anther pair of remarkable color those kind of eyes could not belong to any one of this world, but rather from her own. They belonged to a handsome young man and even though he was dressed no less funny then the rest or even herself, he seemed different. Only when he smiled did she realise that she was looking at someone of her own blood, at least partly.

And when he walked up and great her in adhiel, she couldn't help herself. This was just more then one could wish for.

"Seodhiu ta ea achlaliel!" she replied smiling even broader.

" No, not good. It's just the best thing that could happen. It's simply great! " she couldn't help herself she felt she wanted to kiss this young man for just being here..and so she did. For a second she wrapped he arms around him and kissed Talanwei on the cheek as if greeting a best friend. Maybe it was a little to much for a greeting , but she really couldn't care less. At this moment this young man was just about the closest thing she had in this odd world.

She stepped back and smiled once more a little shyly this time maybe she even blushed a little, but it probably wasn't noticeable in the twilight.

" I'm sorry, it's just that I thought I was all alone here. I must admit is was a bit frightening at the start."

Ashtallions eyes narrowed slightly as he look at the human. Not sure wheather he should believe him or not, how did the mage know this was not some kind of trap, leading him into a dark ally way and try to rob him. Well, any common human was no trouble for the adhiel mage, his power enough to fend off even a few of them.

Still, the sorcerer sense nothing malevolent about the young human, and Asht had been in the presence of more than one demon to know when evil clung to someones soul. " Very well, human. ", he looked at him once more before stepping past him, walking in the direction the human had pointed. After several steps he stopped however, his head looking over his shoulder. " I thank you for your help.... ", he smiled lightly, a small quirk on his lips, his golden eyes shimmering in the light.

Turning again he resumed his stride, once more summoning the shield so that he could pass through the crowd with relative ease.

Following the directions, Asht eventually came to stand before Tazlure.... it was not what he had expected.... but what had he expected? Certainly not this! The man at the door un-nerved the mage, despite Asht being capable of blasting a hole through his chest. Sighing, he approached, his eyes never leaving the bouncer. " I take it this place is open to all? ", he still had the flier in his hand.

Draydis nodded at the man and said something unconsciously to the man as if to express thanks. It was certainly not the common tongue of those that had passed him on the street, yet it was familiar all the same. The filthy man entered the building and took it all in. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting.

He approached the blonde at the coat check. "Pardon me, are you the quartermaster? I believe I had a rough night and need a new uniform." The words flowed without much thought....and it struck him as odd that he used the words he did...

Above Tazlure there was an office and second floor to the establishment. Two large windows gave a look inside to an immaculate office. Papers were stacked cleanly, ledgers, and a computer full of the accounting information of the new club. A spear of light spilled into the darkened room from the hallway where a bulb shined brightly. The room was kept purposefully dark, for the man inside did not want to be seen. His frame was an almost exact five foot ten inch mark and there was a very willowy look to his limbs and torso. The long straight hair he kept tied behind his back and carefully over his ears was the color of fire as was the trimmed beard on his face. Looking at him, one could see the lines of age that had taken a toll on a once handsome visage. Though time had done some of these things, worry and concern had done the rest. What time had taken from his countenance however, did not hold true for the intense set of eyes he was given. They were a brilliant sea green that shone with an inner fire and strength. It was this man that had brought the motley assortment of charges under his cause. His kindness, accepting nature, leadership and charisma were the unifying factor that drew together all involved in the club below. This man, was the proprietor of the establishment that he had named, Tazlure.

One after the other, he felt each of them wink into existence. First was the paladin, a spear of white in the old man's consciousness. Then followed the Magus of Light, personifying himself in a pure, powerful, golden corona. It was the young woman that followed next, subtle and gentle with a blooming lavender shade she came. Then, strong and a green the color of the first leaf of spring, the Emerald Guard commander appeared. The aged man closed his eyes, feeling them each draw closer, making their way to him. Patiently the old man waited because at the moment, time was on his side. He thanked the Father of the Heavens for his good fortune. He just hoped they would be enough...hoped that their hands when joined with his own...would be enough.

***~~*~~***

Shelton saw Asht's mind working furiously and looking deep into his eyes after he had given the information. The search didn't seem to end there, it was like the Magus was looking into his soul and the boy felt it. Yet he was too ignorant to know this feeling for what it was. It was not an ignorance completely but a mere unnaquaintance with magick. In fact it was amazing for the young man to even sense minutely something like this. The young man had no reason to lie and Asht quickly found this to be the case. His expression seemed satisfied as he accepted the information. Smurf blinked for a moment when the man called him "human". There was nothing derogatory in the Magus' tone it just sent a spike through him that brought the realization that this guy...this...whatever he was it wasn't, human. Nor was the guy in the Ramones shirt for that matter.

In that same thought that would have sent most into a whirlwind of ill thoughts and suspicions, the young man that never really belonged in the first place felt at ease. He even smilled and rubbed the back of his head coloring slightly. Asht was special, there was something about the man that just exuded that feeling. Asht had started to walk away and said over his shoulder his thanks. For a moment the young man couldn't talk, he wanted to meet more of them, like the magus and the guy earlier. Remembering the small reserve of manners he kept, Smurf waved and cupped his hands to his mouth.

"See ya around, man!" with this he was off, hoping to find others.

***~~*~~***

The diminished Emerald Guard commander had murmured his thanks and made his way inside. Domingo shook his head smiling warmly.

That bastard, coming here off of a two day bender smelling like he slept in a vat of whiskey. He should know better than that, he's better than that. Doesn't he remember...?

Domingo stopped the thought. What was he thinking? What did he know about the tattooed bum? The Adhiel had...Adhiel? Where the hell...the bouncer shook out thoughts half-remembered that were not his own. Or were they? There was a few moments of odd disorientation, like he should be recalling something important. The tall Spaniard rubbed his eyes and chalked it up to lack of sleep. He grumbled at the long night to come and it was then that a man approached without him knowing. A thrill of subdued adrenaline shot swiftly and he straightened up looking at the man. It was a golden haired sharply dressed man that stood before him flyer in hand. The eyes of the smaller man surveyed him completely and Domingo met his gaze easily enough as the mage asked a question. The constitution of the tall bouncer was quite strong, and throughout his life he had never quite stayed put in one place. Never found a place to call home and when he had taken his job at Tazlure things had been set to be temporary. In a month he figured he would leave and go to some other where. However once he had met the club's proprietor, had helped with cleaning out the rubble and mess to get the place to where it was today...well suffice to say Domingo had been there for over six months, the longest he had stayed in any place since he was sixteen years of age. A wanderer without a place to call home, he should have been born in another time, another place...but he was here and there was a reason for it. The bum had woken this up a little, the magus simply opened up another door but the bouncer knew none of this. He simply nodded and folded his arms.

"Well...not open to all, yet...I think we've been expecting you. Go ahead inside and make yourself comfortable. I think there's some more people yet to come," said Domingo. This was out of character for the solid bouncer to be so pliant and agreeable. There was no ill feeling in his eyes, no threatening stance, only a simple respect born from nothing grounded in his conscious mind but something deeper. He stood to once side allowing Asht entry as he wished.

***~~*~~***

Meanwhile inside Tazlure, those that made their way inside could take in the scene. Along the wall was a fantastic mural of large forests that stretched into the painted horizon. There were also large plains and stretches of brilliant green and blue water. The paintings were breathtaking and seemed to have a life of their own if one looked long enough at them. The bar was kept by a large man with a deep black beard and a rather robust frame. If anyone decided to get themselves a drink the big grin on the bearded face was inviting enough and he certainly had whatever was needed to quench a Tazlurian palate. There was a large dance floor crafted of fine polished wood to the left and middle of the large interior. Behind it was a large raised dais that held two turn tables...contraptions that none would have recognized. There was a man behind them, lean with black hair reaching his shoulders flying free. He wore a tank top shirt that was a brilliant orange and pants that were tan with pockets in too many places to be practical. On his head there were earphones the standard for every dance hall DJ. He was an average looking young man but looking at him, one could easily see the family resemblance he had with his younger brother. This was Shelton's older brother, Preston Murphy, the resident DJ that was in charge of the opening night festivities. He noticed as the first, Dray, walked in, and even despite his filthy appearance he inclined his head upward in a motion of greeting and a smile. He felt a sudden urge in the back of his head then and reached into a crate of numerous vinyl records. He selected one, his newest and looked at it. On the cover was a large tree and surrounding forest. The name of the group was T'aquar and it was one of the young man's new favorites. It had a vocal background that was unlike anything he had ever heard. This would have been valid because the entire recording of the female singing was in perfect Adhiel.

There was a group of about twenty or so people that were already in the club. Most were people that were either directly involved in the restoration project. The few that had been let in were at the discretion of Domingo and they fit in nicely with the atmosphere. There was a subdued sound of strings that lifted from the speakers and sound system around the club. The voice of a group of women, singing lyrics in Adhiel came soon after. Though there was the purposeful electronic distortion of most music of the sort, the words were unmistakable to those who spoke them. On the heels of the singing voices, a pulsing percussion and drum beat came behind it and weaved with actual recordings of birds and other ambient forest noise. It was done in such a way that an organic feel to the music was created with relative ease. A small group of people, those more adventurous stepped out on the dance floor. Nonetheless despite these things the Emerald Guardsman stepped up directly to the coat check.

Shelly was standing with her elbow on the half door and her chin resting on an open palm. The young woman was not from New York, had come from Oklahoma to pursue a modeling career that she was not doing poorly at. She had just not found the satisfaction that she was searching for. Since there were not many people in the club, Shelly was bored out of her mind and thinking about these things. When Dray stepped up to the counter she smiled sunnily despite catching the scent of him shortly after. With a slight wrinkle of her cute nose, Shelly listened as the Adhiel spoke. The woman could see the shimmer behind his eyes, something that was coming alive before her very own albeit slowly. He said some strange words that she could understand but were not familiar with. To Shelly, Dray sounded like he came straight out of a Shakespeare play, funny accent and all. She giggled tilting her head a bit.

"Quartermaster? I don't know bout' that sugar but I think I can help you get out of those dirty clothes you got there," said Shelly with her southern twang that turned her words ever so slightly. The small woman turned to the shelves that held clothing and pulled two outfits. She didn't know how on earth there were two outfits, shoes, socks and all set aside on opening night but she grabbed each of them. In one neatly folded pile there was: a set of stone washed denim jeans that was a subdued lighter brown, a fitted tank top of black and shoes, black and brown, that were an amalgam of sneakers and dress shoes. In the other pile was a set of jeans in a faded blue, a shirt that was a button down long sleeve that was white with a intermittent stripes of blue, and simple predominant white sneakers that read on the side, Nike. Shelly shrugged and indicated each.

"You can take either one, darlin'. Whichever tickles your fancy just take it on down the hall left from the bathrooms and we actually have a proper shower for ya. We normally save it for the employees but," and with this she winked and smiled prettily, "I think we can make an exception this once, right?"

***~~*~~***

The pretty, young Adhiel woman spoke in excited tone that mirrored his own and smiled widely. Talanwei was so relieved, he had been more ill at ease than even he himself had thought himself to be. Just the familiarity of her presence eased his heart and he was brimming with happiness. Without warning the woman wrapped her arms around him and kissed his cheek. When her lips touched his cooled cheek, it sent a shock through his skin making it instantly hot and then cold. There was nothing wrong with her greeting and the paladin made no outward sign of displeasure. Nor did he feel this in his heart when she stepped back smiling shyly. Instead he colored slightly if only a little more intensely than she herself did. She apologized and he immediately began waving his hands dismissing this.

"No, no...no offense taken. I was a bit surprised is all," he smiled lightly and looked around him, "And this place is certainly more strange than any place I have ever seen."

He was but silent for a moment and at once he remembered himself. He had just met this Adhiel woman had spoken for a few burns and had not given his name. Ever one for etiquette, Talanwei brought his palm slowly to his forehead. Lowering it he inclined his head and gave her the shadow of a bow.

"I apologize for my rudeness, my name is Talanwei. May I ask your name acha?" said Talanwei and his dark eyes met with her own once more.

Draydis smiled and returned the greeting to the DJ. The music that suddenly filled the room made the adhiel curious, as he did not understand from where the bards were performing. They must be in another room close by, he thought to himself and simply enjoyed the music.

The woman set out two sets of strange clothing. Though they were odd, the brown and black set was most appealing to him. "These articles are fine, m'lady."

After making sure he understood the directions to the shower...whatever manner of bath that might be, the adhiel made his way there. Upon entering, Draydis was uncertain of what to do exactly. He set the clothing down on a table in the room and returned to the quartermaster. "Pardon me...I do not seem to understand your bathing facility. Perhaps there is somebody that can assist me?" Though he appeared quite dirty, and his looks were rugged at best, there was a bit of charm present in his words.

The Adhiel warrior took the outfit of brown and black and the words he used were again funny to Shelly’s ears. The young country girl was not unintelligent it was just that his way of speaking was so formal and felt old to her, ancient even. Despite how he was dressed, Dray’s voice was clear and held none of the weakness that his appearance would have normally bespoke. She giggled again as he walked away to the shower.

What an odd guy! Wonder what his story is?

“He seemed a rather interesting fellow, hm?” sounded a warm baritone from behind Shelly. The small woman jumped as she turned immediately to find the boss behind her. His green eyes danced and Shelly smiled widely. She absolutely adored the old man, he reminded her a great deal of her grandfather but he was long since gone.

"He sure is Mr. Vengaali! And he doesn't smell so fresh either...but I like him!" said Shelly with a bouncy tone. He simply nodded, still smiling, and rubbed his flame colored beard with his right hand. The old man was dressed in a black blazer cut perfectly to his body and a simple dress shirt that was a deep concord purple. His slacks were crisply pressed and a rich black as well. As Dray returned his look of puzzlement was naively comical and he spoke. Shelly in fact did laugh and leaned forward on the door.

"Well you sure are forward aren't ya? Tryin to get a girl in the shower with you," even though she winked, Dray didn't look as if he understood. This puzzled Shelly and she looked at him more seriously.

"How long's it been since you used one? Where are you..."

"I'll take it from here my dear," said the old man as he stepped to one side of her from the portion of the room Dray could not see. Shelly shrugged.

"Sure thing Marius! Show him the ropes boss man!" she said as cheerful as ever. It was not time for Shelly or any of the others to know, at least not yet. The old man known as Marius let the Adhiel warrior take in his features before he opened the short door and started to walk toward the shower area. He walked slowly allowing Dray to fall into pace behind him. He stood to one side of the open door of the shower and searched the warriors eyes for a moment before he started with a smile.

"These bathing facilities are unlike what you have encountered before, my friend. That odd knobbish affair is what you will use to start your water. You pull it outward and the water will come from the spigot you see here so don't be alarmed. Careful, however, because the positioning of the arrow on the knob determines the temperature of the water. To the left, it will get very hot. To the right...well I'm sure you can figure it out from there. Whatever you do, don't scald yourself. The soap is in a liquid form in the white container you see there and if you wish to cleanse that wonderful head of hair of yours, feel free with the bottle labeled 'shampoo'," Marius spoke clearly and slowly...in perfect Adhiel. The finer points of human language such as shampoo went untranslated but it was flawless nonetheless. The aged man's lively eyes looked closely at the Adhiel that couldn't have been close to 100 yahren. Marius paused for a moment just in case the warrior had a question for an old man such as himself.

Dray did indeed look more confused as the girl laughed at his questions. He even turned a bit red at her thought of him asking her to bathe with him....even if it were true. A sheepish grin was followed by a low chuckle. "Please excuse my words, m'lady...I fear my memory is not working properly at the moment and everything I have seen today seems to be quite odd to me."

Another attempted charming smile appeared on his face. "However damaged my mental capabilities appear to be, I am still able to recognize true beauty and charm when I see it."

The old man then advanced seemingly with the intent to show him how to use the thing they called a shower. He laughed again and spoke to the pair in front of him...but mostly to the girl. "If an advance had been intended towards you, m'lady, I certainly must need practice if all I can attract is this man." He flashed the man a smile as if to let him know that no harm was intended by his jest.

Draydis then followed the man to the shower and listened to the instructions. "Thank you, good sir. I do not understand why I do not even know my own name this day....but the world around me seems especially strange."

He simply shrugged and began to disrobe...being used to life in the barracks and not being ashamed of his body. The adhiel then stepped into the shower and followed the instructions given to him. It took a few moments to get the temperature right...starting off with a blast of icy cold water that resulted in the guardsman giving out a yelp of surprise. It went largely unnoticed though, as he was amazed by this device.

A while later, all the dirt, feces, grime, and stench were removed from his body. Dray used a towel as the man told him to dry his hair and body. Not having anything to tie back his hair, Dray used one of the swords to cut a small strip from his old belt. It was cleaned with the soap and then tied into place. The clothes were put on, and the old ones were put into the trash as the man had instructed him.

The swords were another matter...

ooc: sorry...my phone only allows me to write so much, and I ran out of space above..

The swords were carefully inspected. A flurry of thoughts and memories went through his mind, but nothing that he could understand. However, Dray did know that they were valuable.

He took them back to the girl with the funny accent and set them on the counter. When she saw him, Dray gave her a bow. "M'lady, thank you for the use of your...shower, I believe you called it. I feel more like myself now." He looked down at the blades on the counter. "I brought these in, but do not believe they are mine...I think."

The adhiel gave her a smile. With a shower and without the trenchcoat, the adhiel looked quite different. His tattoos that covered his body were now quite clear. The twisted rope-like scars that covered his back, neck, and part of his arms were now readily apparent as well...

"I wish I could properly introduce myself, but I fear that I do not recall my name..." It was clear that he was doing his best to remember and that it wasn't just that he was a looney...

Ashtallion entered with a graceful ease, all the while a tight knot turning in his stomach at what he was to find inside. Luckily, it was not what he expected, the atmosphere was pleasent, the pictures oddly familiar and the music, the adhiel words striking home, though distorted by the tune, he could not mistake his own language.

Already he felt more at ease.

Immediately though, he saw the other adhiel and the achadhiel. Approaching them, a golden figure gliding over the floor, he called in elven, " Namaste... ", with a bow to both of them, " Do either of you have any idea what is going on here? "

Draydis looked at the adhiel who had addressed him. A look of recognition danced across his face and was gone again in a flicker.

"I....I....." Draydis looked at the girl behind the counter and back to Ashtallion again. "I do not know why I am here or what this place is even. The truth is, I was just wiping...er...nevermind." He gave the adhiel mage a smile and turned back to the counter. "I was just giving the lady these swords I....found?"

Draydis was clearly out of his element and fully confused.

" Dianissiya E'Dorian, but call me Dory. And it is a great pleasure to meet you." she replied to his bow with something like a slight curtsey. Pretending not to notice the color on his cheeks that she didn't mean to cause she was still smiling widely.

" So you too are not from around here then?" she asked carefully. " because... this may sound a bit funny, but I really can't remember how I got here. Silly really. Ad now I'm afraid I haven't the slightest clue of how to get back home, to the Citadel in Tazlure... And this isn't Tazlure right? I mean this is some place called New York, as far as I understand. "

That was quite true, she didn't remember a thing. But she realised that magic travel could have some minor effect on one's brain sometimes. Usually it was temporary though, at least from what she heard it didn't sound too bad. If something did get her confused, it will most likely wear off in a bit.

Dory spoke with a clear voice and it was achingly wonderful to hear Adhiel in the sea of human. When she asked if he was from this place, he automatically shook his head. The woman was the only familiar thing around this place. Talanwei had decided that this location was even part of Tazlure. He was sure of this because even on the Western Continent there was surely the same magick that was in the air of the Seven Isles.

New York? Yet another name to remember...

Talanwei reined in his thoughts before they started wandering too much and turned his gaze back to Dory, "Nay, I fear that it is somewhere much more odd than anything in Tazlure. There is no magic, these humans are oblivious to these things it seems. Have you smelled the air?”

His nose wrinkled with distaste as he took a deep breath. The acrid smell was all around; he felt as if it was going to seep into his skin. When Talanwei looked up at the club before him, though he himself didn’t know it was called by that name, he felt more at ease. The Achadiel had an adhiel companion and the building seemed to be drawing him forward.

“I also hail from Citadel...I fear that we are far from home. On top of that is the fact that I also have no idea what manner of sorcery brought us here,” he favored his new companion Dory with a warm smile, “I may be reaching into the dark but I believe that we will find some answers in that building. It can’t be mere coincidence that it is named Tazlure right?”

With this the Achadiel offered his arm and they walked toward the doors.

Domingo was in a good mood and saw who would be the next to want to enter the club. It was a young man and woman. The man was tall almost as tall as the bouncer himself and his companion was a shorter surprisingly striking woman. The girl reminded Domingo of the first two men that entered Tazlure. She had the same quality and something intangible that made her, well....different. The man at her side seemed to have that same Adhiel quality that Domingo couldn’t put into words but in a more subdued way.

Talanwei stopped before the guard at the entrance. The man simply had to be a guard because of his presence. It was imposing and Talanwei felt that the man could likely hold his own in any physical skirmish. However the smile on the man’s face bespoke his demeanor being agreeable. As the Achadiel stepped up to the door he smiled to Domingo in turn.

“We seek to enter this...club,” Talanwei said this clearly in human, “What must we do to gain admittance?”

Domingo nodded satisfied, a cute bunch of kids on a night out checking out a new club...right? The human thought that something was brewing in the air. It was not a good or bad feeling that he felt it was a neutral pressure of sorts that seemed to hang in the air. Only time would tell what was going to happen this night. The bouncer stepped to one side, even giving a slight not of his head and his hand leading the way in.

“You only have to ask. I think you may have some friends here already come to think of it,” said Domingo. Why he had felt it necessary to say that he had no idea but he let it stand. Talanwei was pleasantly surprised because the man was so agreeable.

Dray had responded to Marius yet had not acknowledged the adhiel that Marius had spoken to him but this was a small pittance. The old man nodded the Adhiel warrior spoke, perhaps his arrival had left him free of memories and the knowledge that he was from Tazlure was seemingly gone. Again at the moment this mattered little, so long as the wayward warrior remembered himself when the time came. Marius could have told him all then but instead he decided to wait until they had all gathered before saying those things. Dray had begun to disrobe and Marius, as old as he was, was not put off by this. He simply nodded and gave the Adhiel warrior a respectful bow as he turned and left the room.

Shelly was leaning halfway over the door as Marius rounded the corner and she waved to the older man. He chuckled at the young woman’s sunny demeanor and shooed her out of the way as he opened the door to get behind the counter.

“He’s funny! Kinda cute too, I always liked tattoos but it seems he loves em!” said Shelly thoughtfully. The young woman had little tact but was polite enough for this quality to make her endearing and approachable to just about everyone. The old man mused for a moment, as he was concentrating on the presences entering. He could feel the Paladin and then the young woman, both distinctly. The Magus of Light was palpable even as he entering from the street. Then there was the Adhiel warrior emerging from the shower.

“What’cha thinkin about boss? You seem all serious and stuff,” said Shelly. If there was anything about her it was that she was fiercely intuitive. She had made this observation with her back to the old man with just her senses. Marius felt he had chosen his staff well. From the bouncer Domingo who was a gentler man than he made himself out to be, to the DJ with quite an eclectic taste for music. The old man was pleased as he watched Dray approach, much cleaner than he was but a mark ago.

Shelly turned to the Adhiel and she listened to him speak. He then put the swords he had brought with him on the door before him. Dray looked completely confused as he indicated the swords, doubting that they were his own. The adhiel then looked more befuddled as he was trying to recall his own name. Shelly shook her head, his confusion was kind of cute. Yet now that he was clean, his appearance matched his quick flirtatious tongue. Shelly was impressed and she let this show in a low whistle.

“Well don’t you look sharp Mr. Man? I swear, the magic a shower and a change of clothes can do sugar,” she gave him another wink as she said this. It was then that a tall man with a pretty woman walking at his side came into view.

***~~*~~***

With a look to Dory the half Adhiel stepped forward and they made their way in. Immediately he felt more at ease. The walls were adorned with the most intricate and breathtaking paintings he had yet seen. The forests seemed to breathe with life and the water seemed to sway in the painted wind. He even saw Citadel captured in its aesthetic splendor. Without meaning to he seemed to be making a bee line for the coat check though he wouldn’t have known it by that name. It was then that the paladin laid eyes on Draydis. An immediate spark of recognition ignited in the center of his mind and the flame it started did not catch right away. This man was familiar, the tattoos were a definite distinguishing factor. The point of his ears, the way he stood...Talanwei was certain that he had met this man before but he couldn’t for the life of him remember from where. What was frustrating was the fact that it was on the cusp of realization but there was nothing to push it over the threshold. Before he could say anything to Dray a voice sounded behind him.

Ashtallion Urdil wrote:"Namaste... do either of you have any idea what is going on here?”

the voice was the match to Talanwei’s figuratively pitch soaked mind. The paladin wheeled and with wide eyes he saw the sorcerer. The golden haired sorcerer bowed and seeing him brought Talanwei closer to realization than he had been with Dray. His mouth opened once, he blinked and his hand went to his mouth as it opened the second time. The Achadiel heard the words spoken in his first language and he looked into Asht’s gold eyes. All at once the memory flowed into his head. Wind whipping about the mage, a beach far away from here...a demon. The thought made him shudder but he actually remembered!

“By the Bright One!~ A....Ash...” Talanwei frowned as he balled his hand into a fist for a moment and he pursed his lips concentrating furiously. All at once like a beacon it flared into his mind like a star falling from the sky. He struck his forehead lightly and laughed.

“Asht! Ashtallion! Warrior magus of light, by Illuminatus’ grace you’re here!” the excited paladin said this and turned quickly to Draydis. He took in the odd shirt that seemed to show much of the Adhiel’s upper torso and his expansive tattoos.

“And Dray, Draydis. Captain of the Emerald Guard! By all the...what fortune! A friendly face in this place!” he was simply amazed and all at once remembered he had not introduced Dory, “Ah! In my haste I have forgotten myself. Draydis, Ashtallion; this is Dory.”

Talanwei indicated each of them with his hand and finally Dianissiya. They looked at him and Dory, there was no telling if they would recognize him or not. Talanwei had not even given thought that their memories had possibly been fogged by this odd place. Draydis did not even know his own name but the paladin knew it, hopefully uttering it would bring some recognition to the Adhiel.

From behind Shelly’s shoulder, Marius watched the paladin as he spoke. He was pleased because this would likely help Dray who seemed to have the hardest time remembering himself. The mage, whose power the old man could feel most potently, was still unquestionably himself. The young woman at the tall Achadiel’s side was more of a mystery but all would reveal itself in time. His green eyes danced and his arms were folded as he watched the scene unfold as it may.

ooc: hopefully there is room for Neit. :)

Her task had been to destroy a wall to allow for expansion of the tiny outpost outside of Aveas. As the half-giantess' hammer bit into the stone, debris and dust filled the air. At first, it seemed normal, and then everything around her was obscured in haze...

A few burns later, the scene around Neit cleared...but it was quite different. She did not know what manner of place she was in, but it was full of things that she had never seen before.

The ground was black and hard, and strange metallic things traveled along, making occasional loud shrieks. From several of these beasts, humans shouted angrily, though the exact words were lost in the sea of other sounds around her.

Suddenly from behind, she heard a terrible sound. Without thinking, her body braced for impact. Fortunately fir Neit, the car was a Geo Metro. Unfortunately for the owner, Neit was able to stop the car without much effort...however its front end was pretty much destroyed. An odd smelling smoke began to come from the car and the human inside got out and fled the scene.

Neit noticed then that most of the humans were walking beside the black road instead of being in the middle of it. She headed for the side just as a large sign caught her eye....Tazlure...

Curiousity took over as the gigantic woman headed for the man at the door...

Ashtallion ran a hand through his golden blonde hair, sighing in frustration. " I hate when this happens... ", he muttered the words under his breath between the sigh, his eyes whipping up at he then heard the other voices difting towards them. The half breed, he knew his name, for which the sorcerer thanked the Father. " Yes...Talanwei? Paladin of Illuminatus.... ", he bowed his head slightly, he kept his relief hidden though, not wanting to show any overt emotion, even in front of Dray. This was a strange situation, and the mage was not about to let others see his own weakness and insecurities.

" A pleasure to meet you young Miss. ", the mage took her hand in his own and allowed his lips to brush her hand. Well, afterall, Asht considered himself a gentleman aswell as a Lord! " Tis good to see familiar faces, even if one of them does not know himself.... and always a thrill to meet other adhiel. ", he smiled, a bright flash of white teeth.

The adhiel smiled as Shelly gave him a compliment. He returned her words with a bow. "I think I know how to dance, however this music seems odd to me. Perhaps if you have time later, you could show me how to dance to this?"

Draydis listened to the exchanges between those in front of him. He muttered as if only to himself..."Paladin of Illuminatus ....Talanwei....Ashtallion...Draydis?"

He shook his head. Brief visions of battles, friends, terrible demons, forest, and soldiers flashed through his head...yet none of it really made sense.

He gave Shelly a quick glance and then it hit him. "Blade dance!" A look full of excitement to the others was accompanied with the words again, "Blade Dance!!!" Within a flicker, the sword belt was around his waist, and he headed for the dance floor. "Everybody...move back...I think I need some room." He waited until everybody else had left the dance floor...

The adhiel stood there for a moment with his eyes closed, just taking in the music...clearing his mind and attempting to focus on the images. The ones in particular were the battle scenes. They felt...normal. They felt like he was supposed to be there. "I'm a warrior!!" The words were yelled out to the ones that had called him by Dray. ~Is that my name? How do they know me? From where do I know them? And why does that paiting of the woods look so nice?~

Suddenly, the images took hold in his mind. He remembered being in a city built in the trees. It was burning, and there were terrible demon-like dogs running all around. Him and a few others were challenging the hounds. In an instant, the short swords were in his hands, and he bagan to tumble about, lashing out with sudden explosions of force...the blades acting as an extension of his arms. His movements were a mix of martial arts, acrobatics, weapon tricks, and dancing. The way his body twisted and moved was unlike any that the humans present had ever seen.

As the song ended, the swords were put back into their scabbards and he returned to the others. "That felt good." He was smiling and clearly enjoying himself. "Know, the question is....why? You seem to know me and know my name, but I only have a vague feeling that I've met you before," he said to Talanwei and Ashtallion. "I feel like I've seen many terrible things with you, Ashtallion...and somehow, we've always survived. With you, Talanwei, I feel a connection that is beyond words. Though it is similar, it is also different, yet I feel we respect each other for our own choices." He shook his head. "I do know one thing though. These are in fact my swords...and I do know how to use them. But why?"

His excitement was mixed with still-present confusion. Perhaps with time and the help of his friends, the memories would continue to return...

Dory took Talanwei's hand and they walked to this place called...Tazlure...

It was a bit shocking and quite ironic at the same time. They wanted to get back to Tazlure and now it seemed they had...only it wasn't exactly what she had in mind ...or was it?
Why would this place be called a name of another world? Unless in was a portal of course. That maid sense.
She let her companion take the lead and followed him in. It was breathtaking. All the lights and glowing and paintings...It seemed there was absolutely every city on Tazlure illustrated it's full splendor.

and then something even more unexpected. There were actually several other adhiel there! And Talanwei knew them both. What a coincidence...Only she didn't belive in coincidences. Everything had an explanation and a reason.

Dory smiled to the others as she was introduced.

" Namaste. It is a great pleasure to meet you all. " That was all this time. She promised herself to seise all the kissing. It was bad enough embarrassing Talanwei. But she didn't mind Asht kissing her hand. Now that things were settling down and would all probably go back in to place, a little etiquette did seem appropriate.

They all stepped back to allow Dray some space. It was quite amassing what he could do with the sword. He was a probably a real master of this art. He had to be , if he was captain of the Emerald guard.

" You know, memory loss is quite a common side effect with magic travel. It's usually temporary though. So it should all return in a while." she said thoughtfully. " For instance, I have no idea of how I got here either."

OOC: hello! I hope no one minds my barging in! :D
IC:
When Adante opened his eyes, the world was spinning. It spun so fast that it made his head hurt really BAD. Adante groaned and closed his eyes once more. The darkness eased the pain, but not his confusion. From a distance he heard music. He heard the rhythmic taps of feet, the laughter of several people, and the voices of, from their accent, Ahdiels.

Out of curiosity, Adante slowly opened an eye. Everything was blurry at first, but things gradually became clearer. He found himself staring directly at an odd looking black bottle with the words “Coca Cola” brightly showing in its red text. Adante jerked in surprise and toppled the bottle over. Tiny beads of liquid splattered to his face, while most of them clung to his cloak… er if cloak was that he was wearing. He was in a sort of crisp black suite, with an elegant dark blue necktie hanghing from his neck. He was wearing black slacks, and a pair of black shiny closed shoes. On his wrist was a weird type of silver bracelet that produces an muted ticking sound.

Adante stood confused and tried to back out from the table and the couch he was sitting on. He was wiping off the odd liquid when suddenly a piercing ringing sound emitted from his pants. Andante’s eyes widened. Without clearly knowing what to do, he nervously reached for his pocket-- which he never knew he had-- and tried to decipher the thing that he just pulled out. It was a tiny black box with its face glowing. Amidst the bluish hue and the irritating sound, the words “XYZ Company” and below it, “Calling…” can be seen.

Bewildered, Adante dropped the “box” to the ground-- a platform which didn’t look like any ground that he was accustomed to. It was silver, and sort of metallic. It was very much unlike the wooden floor of his Trothgardian hut or the dark brown ground of the forest. This was all too much for him.

He hastily approached the Adhiels that were… well he didn’t know exactly what they were doing. Where they dancing? Fighting? Adante shrugged. Everything was weird in this place, wherever this is.

“Uh namaste! I’m Adante Tinuviel of Trothgard. I do not know what tragedy has befallen me to end up in such a place as this, but can anyone of you perhaps enlighten me? What place is this? What clothing am I wea… oh.” Adante’s voice trailed off as he caught sight of the female Adhiels. He blushed and sheepishly bowed at them.
