First post!
So... what's with all you Dortenese and running away from home, huh? There are 24 charactersheets naming Dort as point of origin and a grand total of one player remaining in the country...
only WM has more PCs originating from it ( 38 ) but it seems to have managed to retain a few .

That's a good question! As one of the guilty parties, I'd noticed that, too. Of course, I hadn't noticed when I started, else I probably would have used a different place. I hate being a sheep.
Not even sure why I chose Dort as a point of origin for Morgan... probably just wanted to give him some farmboy chic, I think. Besides, the Midlands seemed like a nice, ordinary place where a child could grow up free of parent-murdering orc warbands and other background-cliché-causing perils. *shrugs*

Heheh, it's so ordinary it's become a cliche, like being 19 yrs old or 5'8''
(yup... I took a census of all the charactersheets... I'll post the results up sometime...)
*nerds out*

*laughs* I start noticing whenever 'red headed dancers' start popping up...

Oh god, I almost choked when I found out Ord had a dodgy uncle. A sea-faring one, no less. *covers her face in shame*

Having been the originator of TWO Dortenese emigrants, I feel partly to blame. Still, what with portals, maybe Mairi will return one day. We should have some sort of partay.

What is this I'm hearing?!!!
Elaine and Ulder.... Going to be married?!
*gasp*
Oh... How lovely!!! *gushing*
And where is my invitation, Elaine? Ulder? You both better give me one or there will be a mother of all ruckus! Has any one of you received an invitation?
And Elaine, my dear, I believe you will be needing a Wedding Planner, I'm pretty sure I can fit you in my schedule.

Sorry for disappearing on you all, but I am back now and ready to dig into things again. Feel free to drop me PM's to remind me what I dropped when I left and how best to pick you back up.

*insert accidental stumbling over this*
Oy, looks like I belong to the sheeple by accident ... I guess Dort indeed makes for good "I wanna go to da big city!" material.
But, uh, at least I'm a brown-haired dancer *flips imaginary locks* ! See, I'm all different and orijinahl and a unique snowflake !

:: puffs up and speaks for the Island itself ::
Where will you be going? When will you return?
I will be watching and waiting for you to come back to my loving arms.
When you skin your knees, I will be there.
When your heart is breaking, I will be there.
When those bright city lights no longer call, I will be there.
When you've had enough of the world, I will be there.
Watching, waiting, sitting by the window.
Expectantly hoping to see you coming around the bend. Patient and at the same time anxious to see your smile.
A mother never forgets. A mother always forgives.
~~~
Just thought I'd share that. My mom wrote that to me in a card on the day that I moved away from home, and it seemed fitting in some strange way to offer it up to all of the ex-dorters living and walking around Taz today.
Dort misses you!
Awww... you know we'll be back. Just gotta take over the world first. Make a ton of moolah. Sow our wild Dortenese oats. Except Barrett.
