The Great Hall Entrance (23rd TT)

Post by Jadmai »

The Citadel is the most breath-taking sight in all the city. The design is a marvel of mystical engineering, created to be both aesthetically delightful and nearly impregnable to attack. Its shape is more or less that of a huge tower with a stretched out base, but such words cannot begin to convey the majesty of the structure.

It is called home by Caesar Anochrim, several nobles, a great many servants, and the members of the Purple Guard.

Jadmai had been nervous the night before. Staying in a rather dodgy inn (something a little more familiar to him) he went over and over what he was to say to the Ceasar once he had his attention. Jadmai had not been this worked up in some yahren, yet his hesistation was trivial, his main concern was that his Imperial Majesty would already have the situation in hand, and the reprecussions of that were nothing. The former ambassador put it off as general nerves of meeting the ruler of the isles.

Dressed in his finest clothes, which weren't all fine, a fancy silver tunic and good pair of leather britches (he did take a bath though, that was special) he made his way for the palace. He had of course heard about the palace, but upon making his way there and finally getting a full look at it, he appreicated the granduer. Such large stone constructs reminded him of home, and Jadmai had a hunch that the inside would as well. This palace would not even be too out of place on the spire of Gulanadur--besides the obvious lack of dark adhiel design.

Arriving a half mark early for his appointment seemed to make sense, Jadmai had no idea of the protocol that went on inside these great walls, in fact, he no idea how to great the Ceasar when he saw him.

Jadmai would make his way inside until someone stopped him and asked his business, at which point, Jadmai would procure from the inside of his cloak the response he got from his little to the Ceasar.

Ever since the new Caesar has been elected, and ever though he had not yet taken the mantle fully, the Citadel had been a lot more open to visitors. With the war over, the security has been loosened up a bit, and thus Jadmai was allowed a lot of freedom that day. Sure, he had been asked for a name and business at the entrance, but that was pretty much that. The Imperial Guard ranks have swelled nicely over the last couple of months and moving through the hallways, the white tabards were almost everywhere in sight.

He had been directed to the Great Hall, but once there, the large chamber was almost empty save for half a dozen guards standing silent watch along the passage leading to the throne and a chair on a step bellow it. It was not long before a man, some fifty yahren of age approached the dark adhiel, smoothing his grey goatee and bowing politely. "Excuse me sir, but there are no audiences today. The Caesar is busy and you shall have to come tomorrow. In fact I think His Majesty is not in the Palace at all at this moment."

Jadmai, finally stopped by the man sporting the grey-goatee gave a small nod in return, but then, started to look very confused. Again producing the note he had procured earlier, he showed it to the man.

"That is unfortunate. However," Jadmai went on, "as you can see, there must have been some sort of schedueling mix up. I was given a proper appointment, as you can tell, but it seems something has gone awry. My message is short but important--is there a way he can be seen at all today?"

Jadmai wasn't worried about duty as much as getting this over with, he was crossing the line and he knew it, but the real problem was that Isis or the Amunic ambassador was not doing what he was about to do.

The man took the note from Jadmai examining it carefully, and frowned before turning it back. "I am not sure how this happened sir. Someone must have made an error and forgot to remind His Majesty of this appointment. I think we can remedy that though. Follow me please." He motioned towards a curtained exit from the chamber and led the dark adhiel down a long hallway finally emerging into a well lit office, an elderly gentleman of perhaps fifty or so yahren dressed in dark brown suit just leaving the office.

"Master Belish, a moment please." The other man stopped and Jadmai's escort leaned forward t whisper a few hushed words into his ear, the man's eyes jumping towards the dark adhiel after a few flickers. "I am afraid His Majesty already left the palace. He is to attend the wedding of Baron Marcada and Ambassador Lo Russo. I could deliver him a message, or you might find him there and handle the affair before the wedding starts. Or I could see if anything could be done right away."

Jadmai shook his head, sure it was simple mixup, but it was just inconvient to the Dark Adhiel. Lo Russo would not be happy to see him at her wedding, but Jadmai had attained an audience, it was more important than any wedding.

"I am rather sure I am not invited to Baron's wedding, but I would like to take care of this business promptly, as I am acting on the behalf of others. Would an escort assure me entrance into the wedding? Or some document, perhaps the one I carry?"

Jadmai adjusted his cloak around him, (this damn island was chilly after two stints in a desert) and waited for an offered soultion.

"I think an escort will be best, milord." Then turning to the man who had brought Jadmai to his office, Belish issued an order, the past two months of serving as head of Caesar's household making it a reflex. "Have Captain Summers give the gentleman two of his men as escorts and give them a short note to explain their mission. I shall send a note by the runner to Baron Marcada and ask him to secure a study for Caesar when he arrives, so His Majesty could remedy the situation." Then, turning to Jadmai. "Again I am sorry about the mix-up. Imperial Secretary is away and he usually takes care of such matters." The man waited to lead Jadmai away and soon his escorts were ready to lead him to Marcada manse.

OOC: You know where to go. We can stick around if you have any other business with Belish for a while.

Jadmai nodded to Master Belish, "There is no need to apologize, Master Belish. You have remedied the situation quickly and efficently. I am indebted, and so are those whom I represent. I will pass word on to his Imperial Majesty as to your excellent work."

Jadmai nodded to the other man who had helped him, "I thank you both, greatly. I shall join my escort, and leave you two to your duties. Once, again, I thank you."

Jadmai turned on his heel, and began to exit the Great Hall.
