A splendid building showing craftsmanship thought long forgotten, a product worthy of the ancient Dwarven masters. The wood is intricately carved, and each stone is cut by hand. Inside, large tapestries, embroidered of the finest materials and by the finest artisans of Dort, speak of enormous wealth. The Duke’s shrewd judgment has brought his home isle from just an average performer to one of the top trade centers in the world in just under two decades. Dort is the leading trade center of the Empire and it shows.
Upon entering the Embassy, and after being suitably impressed by the display of expensive tapestries and the best of dwarven craftsmanship - particularly a huge marble statue of Furst von zu Dort-Billigh on horseback - the visitor is greeted by Thavia, a well endowed blond woman with blue eyes at the reception desk. She registers all visitors carefully and guides them through the rest of the building. The way she bats her eyelashes at visiting merchants, one might easily mistake her for just a pretty face.
Ulder had been planning their mission to Pax since before the wedding. Elaine and he had talked often about the situation there and the injustice of it since they had heard the news from his parents. Now the wedding behind them, they both felt like the time was ripe to do something about it. Ulder and Elaine valued honesty as much as anything, and they both admitted to wanting to help the people of Pax as much as they had wanted to help the people of Citadel. Now that the Citadel was about to have a new Caesar, and things were moving on, they both felt it was time for them to turn their attention to Pax.
He had no real idea of what to expect there. Pax had been created and formed after his departure from the Western Kingdom a long time ago. He had no idea of the size of the force that guarded it, or how many people would or could rally to his cause, so he thought it was best to go with some people he could trust, and have some steel at his back. He hoped his letters would initiate some interest from some of his former companions, but he knew he also needed swords. By his estimation, he expected resistance, and he knew he needed people that were trained as a unit to fight. He wasn't certain of what kind of sway or influence he might still hold with some of his former brothers from the Guard, but there was only one way to find out.
He made his way to the Dort embassy. He knew Erwin had returned home to his island, but Thavia was his sole contact that he had with the Duke, and he needed to see her before he could move forward. Perhaps she could even authorize or accept any volunteers that he could muster from his former ranks.
As he entered the main hall of the embassy, he smiled at Thavia and approached her.
"Good tradetide to you Lady Thavia. You look well. I was wondering if I could speak with you about something rather important."
