Something is just not right (Jygust 30th ET) open

Post by Paige »

Paige took her usual route back to Thalas Manse whenever she ventured out. Taking her time, the blue-eyed adhiel quietly passed any strangers she encountered and cautiously looked over her shoulder every burn or so. The last thing she needed was to run into any trouble. With thoughts of the Seaside Slayer on her mind, she kept a hand near her thigh, where a dagger was cleverly concealed, at all times. If she was going to run into trouble tonight, then the predator would surely have a fight on his hands. Paige was a survivor and she was going to make damn sure everyone knew it.

Still, something plagued the guild student's mind as she walked in silence, and that was the fact that she couldn't rid herself of the feeling that something just wasn't right this eveningtide. Whatever it was, Paige couldn't place her finger upon it. The more she tried to figure it out, the further it fell from her grasp. Sighing, Paige neared the next corner that would take her straight to Thalas Manse, only to find herself stopping mid-step. She wasn't ready to go back there just yet. After all, she wouldn't be expecting Langredoc until the gravetide, and she had plenty of time to enjoy the nighttime air before she dolled herself up for her warrior. Turning back to the direction she had just come, Paige wondered where she would venture off to. However, it couldn't be far from here.

One of the city guards was just doing his usual rounds when he noticed Paige walking on the other side of the street. He shook his head and sighed. These were dangerous times in the Citadel. Much too dangerous for a young woman to roam the streets like that when it was getting dark.

He crossed the streets and walked straight up to Paige, standing in front of her and blocking her way. "Excuse me Miss, but you shouldn't be walking around alone around this hour. Not in times like these. Have you not heard of the Seaside Slayer? Or the other murders? They are all directed at young pretty girls like yourself, you know. It his highly recommended to either stay off of the streets when it is dark, or have someone escort you."

"Now please, where are you going? I will be happy to escort you and make sure you will arrive safely."

As the guard came up to Paige, she couldn't help but wonder if she had done something wrong. After all, the young student wasn't use to being approached by one out of the blue. Still, as a safety precaution, she kept her right hand down to her side, in case she needed to use her concealed weapon. The thought of taking a walk tonight sounded more absurd to her after the guard expressed his concern. She couldn't help but wonder what in the Nether she was thinking. Still, she wasn't too thrilled on returning to Thalas Manse just yet. She knew that time would drag itself along into eternity, while she waited for her warrior to appear in the dead of the night.

“Thank you for the concern, sir,” Paige replied cautiously. She wasn't sure if she could trust this man or not, so she planned on playing it safe. With a quick story and a back-up plan, should the man not believe her, Paige was satisfied with what her clever mind had come up with.

“However, I am not alone this eveningtide,” she lied, with a simple look to one of the dark alleyways nearby. Paige was good at lying, almost too good at it. However, she would have to wait and see if her little lie for her own safety, would work on this man or not. “It is because of these safety reasons that you speak of, that I am never alone on these streets. Even during the day.”

In a low whisper, for only the guard to hear, Paige winked, waving at the unseen, invisible body-guard, “Yet, he knows that he gets rewarded for it later.”

Silence fell upon Paige's lips while she awaited to see the man's next move. If he would remain where he stood and simply turn his head away from her to look into the alleyway, she would take this chance and haul ass back to Thalas Manse where there was safety. After all, she was closer to home than she was to the Simple Pleasure's coffee shop where Langredoc was. You couldn't trust anyone these days, not even a city guard.

Langredoc had not needed much time to decide that he would follow Paige until she arrived at a safe place. So while she walked away he followed at a clear distance.

He used the excuse to himself that it was on its way to the brothel he had to go to this night, even though it was barely so. The idea of the seaside slayer and other dangers threatening his love made any excuse acceptable. So he stayed in the shadows and together with Reiker he made his way.

When a guard first talked and then approached the young woman he relocated into a small alley hoping that he could hear something what she said. Oddly enough she started pointing at him.. what made him hide even more in the shadows..

Had she seen him ?? How could it be ? It confused the young warrior for a few flickers.. soon he was guarding his surroundings again though. The night was .... tense..

The guard was startled by the fact that the woman seemed to be speaking of someone that was accompanying her, yet he hadn't seen anyone. Was this man so good? Or was this woman playing a trick on him? The streets were dark and they seemed even darker these days, even with the street lights set up.

As Paige gestured to the alley, he turned his head to look. Immediately Paige started running towards the Thalas Mansion. For a flicker the guard was completely stunned by what was happening here. Was everybody going insane? He started running after her. "Miss! Wait! It is not safe!" Paige had only managed to get a little distance between her and the guard, but it was enough for him to not being able to fully catch up with her. Why was this woman running away from him? "Miss! Please, stop!" He shouted again as he kept chasing her, neither Paige or the guard having any idea that Langredoc had indeed been standing in that dark alley.

Paige continued to run towards Thalas Manse, trying to put as much distance between the guard and herself as possible. Who could she trust these days? After all, when the man mentioned the Seaside Slayer, Paige knew that she hadn't the faintest idea what he looked liked. For all she knew, this man could have been him in the flesh.

Picking up speed, Paige's heart began to pound within her chest, and without any warning, the adhiel women lost her balance and fell to the ground. Groaning in pain, she turned her head to look back at the guard, "Look, I don't want any trouble. I just want to get home unharmed."

Langredoc followed the two into the darkness. He knew that by starting to run he would give away his position so decided not do do a all out dash..

He growled when Reiker.. the wolf was running happily alongside him, clearly enjoying the running. Then Langredoc got a idea.. when he saw
Paige drop to the ground he resisted the urge to run to her and did send Reiker in.

"Goto Paige.. Reiker.. GUARD.. !"

He was not worried that the animal would not go to Paige, nor return if he would whistle. The bonding had become strong over the months, still he young animal was not perfect trained yet, So he was more worried that the animal would be too aggressive to others... and that could be dangerous to the animal or Paige.

So the warrior stepped back into the shadows.. while in a flow of paranoia he also searched the surrounding shadows for more watching eyes..

Something.. was... not... good... tonight.. he had a forbidding feeling that before the morning sun would rise, blood would have flowed..

A grin appeared.. the warrior stands.. bloody Red Warrior.. count on a God to provide challenges.

Both players decided to stop playing.

Summary is: Paige and Langredoc fled the city together. If they ever return, people will be looking for them, questioning why they would have fled so suddenly.
