Channdra
The line was mostly full of ordinary looking people, tired from waiting. Some were shivering in the cold. Yet, one lady stood out. She was a tall human with auburn hair. She had a flamboyant lavender dress on and white gloves. She stood in the line, just like everyone else, but something emanated from her, some charm.

The woman turned towards Channdra. Her face was beautiful but friendly. A sparkle in her eyes and a kind smile shone on her face as she regarded Channdra.

The guard coughed and shook his head, noticing Channdra's glance. "Don't worry about her. Probably a Rose... they are up to no good." He shook his head and frowned.

The woman Channdra had noticed walked up to one of the guards and began to speak softly with him. The guard in front of Channdra smiled and shook his head. "That will be all. Enjoy yourself."

Travore
A guard beckoned for Travore to come forward. "Welcome to the Citadel. I need your name and why you are here." Parchment and ink were neatly placed on the table. The guard looked up at Travore and waited quietly. There were rings around the guard's eyes and his movement seemed tired and careful.

Automne
A guard looked up and beckoned Automne forward. "Welcome to the Citadel. I need your name and why you have come here." The guard looked at Automne and his eyebrows raised slightly. A lady traveling all by herself. Why had she chosen to wear such a garment when she was traveling? The guard shifted uncomfortably and waited.

Automne paused and moved her bags to the ground, she took a deep breath then stood straight.

"My name is... Automne Rosse, of the wood elves. I have come, well I've come to find a new place to live and to further my knowledge in the ways of barding..." Automne, in one movement brought her tambourine out and shook it thrice then against her hip, wrist, then hip again to provae her point. It made a pleasant dancing beat. Automne looked around as if to notice what she was wearing wasn't exactly travelling protocal... Should she make an excuse? Should she ignore them? She bent forward trying to hide her face in her long bangs. "Uhm... well... my clothing.. it's.. everything else wasn't clean and... um."

((ooc: Whoo, sorry bout that! Now I feel like an idiot! ^_^; Sorry it took so long))

Travore Redkin

Post by Travore Redkin »

"Travore Redkin," the young man said with confidence. "I'm here to, well, to be honest I'm simply here for a bit of a visit. Perhaps dispose of a few crown, or earn a few." The young human was calm and spoke swiftly to the guard. He didn't want any trouble with the guard, well, at least not yet. And of the many things that he's learned on the road, Travore knew that one must be as polite as possible when dealing with a tired guard.

Standing for the few moments, he noticed the guard's look at the young elf-maiden. Sure, she was wearing strange clothing to be travelling in, but she was obviously new to the road. He knew the signs; her unwary behaviour, the shyness, and, of course, the eloquent clothing she wore.

"Don't look at the girl like that!" he quickly chimed into their conversation. His voice, still steady and calm, almost had a friendly tone to it. "I'm sure she simply wanted to impress the fine people of Citadel, uncluding its guards." He threw caution to the wind, and Travore instantly knew that the guard wouldn't be happy with his interferance. Still, he turned to the elf-maiden and reached out his hand in greeting.

"Automne Rosse, you said?" he stumbled over the strange name. "Travore Redkin, at your service. My friends call me 'The Rogue'." He gave her a friendly smile, hoping she would take his hand.

Ledian D`Retean

Wandering up towards the great oaken gates of the Citadel, Ledian was filled to the brim with joy, for he had finally come to his destination of travels! Walking cautiously and making sure people noticed him seeing as he had a chance of being stepped on he moved towards the que line that was entering the gates. Joining the shortest one he walked up to it and started to wait.

Automne's face flushed momentarily and offered her hand to the handsome man who claimed himself "The Rogue". This was her first close interface with someone of his type. She slowly, shyly, returned the warm smile. His hand was warm to her cold fingers, she had misplaced her gloves somewhere amongst her luggage. At first her hand was very tense but it soon found itself very comfortable in this warm haven. She blushed wilder.

OOC: Automne, perhaps you did not notice, but I sent you a PM asking you to please edit your second post. Now I am going to ask that you please edit that one and the one you just made. Please read it for more information. Travore, thank you for waiting.

Ledian
After a short time, a guard beckoned for Ledian to come forward. "Welcome to the Citadel. I need to know your name and what business you have here." The guard looked up and waited. The cold wind that had been present since early morning had taken its toll on the guards; they looked cranky and annoyed at best.

OOC: Thanks.

IC:
Automne + Travore
The guard who had been helping Travore called for someone else to come up. The guard who was assisting Automne motioned for Travore to join him at his table.

The guard quickly jotted something down on two pieces of paper and then looked up, frowning at Travore's assumptions. "We get all types of people here, some different then others. The lady's dress is of no concern to me. She can wear what she wishes."

The guard coughed and shook his head, clearly annoyed at being reprimanded by a common citizen. "Lady, you probably want to go to the Bardic College. They have classes that you might want to take. It is right next to the Red Rose Guild." He frowned and shook his head at the name.

"It would be wise not to associate yourself with them. The College is where you should go... yes," he turned to Travore, "What do you wish to visit? Do you have any intentions? Both of you might wish to visit the Burpin' Dragon. You can get food, drink, and a place to stay. In addition, they might be interested in a bard." The guard looked at the pair and he waited.

Moving up along the que Ledian was now speaking to one of the guards. Taking a hint from the look on the guards face he was sure he didn't want to make a mistake in front of him. Answering his first question he answers in a friendly way "My name be Ledian D`Retean and for what I be doing here I would be hoping to make a few crown selling some of my favoured products of the trade, which be alchemy." After finishing his miniature speech to the guard, which he had worked out after hearing the questions that the guard asked while waiting for his turn he smiled and hoped the guard would let him in.

Ledian
The guard looked up at Ledian thoughtfully and his attention focused on the Gnome. "An alchemist, ehhh? You aren't dealing with that magic stuff are you?" The guard frowned and studied Ledian.

He sighed, took out a piece of parchment, and jotted something down on it. "Don't do anything funny around here. If you are making anything, I trust it will be good for everyone," he looked at Ledian again, "Where will you be heading to? An inn? Somewhere else?"

Travore noticed Automne's cheeks turn red. He kept her small, cold, delicate hand in his for a moment, finding a calm pleasantness in her soft touch. It seemed to him that he held her hand, staring into her eyes for a moment too long and felt somewhat ackward. He let go of her hand, coughed, and tugged on his gloves.

Looking to the guard, the young man nodded, a solemn look on his face. "The Burpin' Dragon sounds fine to me, unless of course," he looked over to Automne, "The lady would like an escort to wherever she is headed."

Automne looked from Travore to the guard, "I would?" she looked at Travore. "I... I guess so... an escort to..." She thought for a moment, the bard's college could always wait... or could it? This man seemed awfully nice and very chivalrous. "The Burpin Dragon! Tell me, sir, are they an inn as well? Could I rent a room out for a while?" She couldn't help the feeling of joy building up inside of her, she smiled an small but dazzling smile. She turned around to face Travore, she stumbled for a useable sentence, "Travore, sir, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, " She bit her lip trying not to reword her sentence halfway through as she often did, " Would you be my escort?" She looked to see if any signs of doubt were on his face. "I mean, it would be perfectly ok if you didn't. I could find a way." Oh noo, what have I done, now he will definitely turn me down She turned around quickly to wait for a possible rejection.

"Sir?" the young man said. He smiled warmly and chuckled slightly. "You don't have to call me sir, I'm not a knight and I don't intend to become one." Travore shifted the bag on his shoulder and pulled his gloves tighter as though he was preparing for another long journey.

Pausing for a moment, Travore looked at the back of the elf maiden's head with a small smile. "I'd be happy to escort you to wherever you want to go. Now, the question is, where might that be?"

Almost as if to answer the question, a deep growl rumbled out of the pit of his stomach. Looking down with a laugh, Travore began to rub his stomach. "I don't know about you, but I could use something to eat soon." The young man let out a hearty laugh.

Automne + Travore
The guard's eyebrows rose at the clear display of friendship between the two strangers. He looked back and forth between the pair, as if wondering if they really knew each other and were lying to him.

The woman acted a lot like a Rose. She seemed to play the helpless maiden part accurately. Clearing his throat uncomfortably, the guard gave the pair directions to the Burpin' Dragon. "Yes, it has rooms, food, and drink." The guard tilted his head back and smiled as if reminiscing over fond memories. "You will want to go there."

Ledian D`Retean

"Welllll..." spoke Ledian thoughtfully, "I would be looking for a residence I could stay up and keep up to my own business?" Remembering that the guard didn't seem to look kindly upon peoples of his trait, he added "I be hoping you didn't take that the wrong way, I be meaning a place where I will no have to explain to someone if an experiment goes wrong."

Autmone turned and grinned, "Thank you, Travore! Why don't we go to the Burpin Dragon right now? I'm very hungry as well." She turned for the umpteenth time to the guard. She smiled sleepishly, "Thank you, sir. Would it be alright if we passed through now? We'll be heading towards the Burpin Dragon..."
Automne had remembered something he had said earlier. She didn't really know what a Rose was, but she had only plans to be a bardess. "Oh, and don't worry. I'll keep clear of these 'Roses' whoever you say they are." She waited for the clearance to pass or maybe some information on the Roses, either was fine by her. She had only been here less than an hour and already made a friend.

Automne seemed pretty excited at this point, and appeared to be making up her mind. The fact that he was hungry and tired, of course, helped Travore to sit back and enjoy the ride. He would take this elf-maiden to the Burpin' Dragon, maybe share a meal, some drinks, and a few laughs with her.

Standing back, smiling, he waited for the guards reply.

Automne + Travore
The guard nodded and handed a piece of parchment to both of them. "Those are your passes into the city. Don't be loosing them. You may pass through. Best of luck to you in the times ahead. Remember, watch where you step." The guard nodded and called to the next person in line.

Ledian
The guard nodded and jotted something down on the parchment. He then handed it to Ledian. "Don't be loosing that. It is your ticket to the city," his eyebrows rose at Ledian's words, "I don't know any place like that. If you go to the Burpin' Dragon, someone there might know. You can also find a place to stay for a while."

An exicited grin taking shape on his face at the guards words, but going away when he said he didn't know a residence where Ledian could rent, he then spoke "Well I'll be thanking you for your time anyways." After saying this he took the piece of parchment out of the guards hands and entered the gates.

Automne smiled and thanked the guard again. She lifted her heavy bags onto her bag, the load seemed bearable now that she was with Travore. She swung her braid behind her back with a bag filled hand. Her eyes sparkled like the sun and her teeth were visible in her smile. She took her tambourine, after sliding her bag to her elbow. She shook it to a merry beat. "Onward my friend?" She really had no true friends before, but even though she had just met this man there was something she could trust in him. She almost cried for being so happy, instead crystal tears welled up in her eyes. "Well, Rogue, since will you be so kind as to be my escort... lead the way."

Elisylle de Jandra

Post by Elisylle de Jandra »

Elisylle walked up the road leading to the main gates of the Citadel, staring at them in awe. She had heard stories, but she hadn't imagined they could be true. She was a little intimidated, but fought back the feeling. Fear could be a useful emotion in its place, but mostly it just distracted the fearful, as her former teacher had said. She made her way up to the smaller door set into the gates and looked around, hesitant to enter unless she was invited.

Elisylle
A guard looked up and motioned for Elisylle to come over to his desk. "Welcome to the Citadel. I need your name and the reason you are here." Next to the guard was some parchment and ink. There was another guard at another desk nearby, asking someone else the same questions. Both looked tired, weary, and very cold. A chilly wind was blowing from somewhere and it had taken its toll on most of the people waiting to enter the city.

Elisylle walked over to the desk, glancing at the other desk as she came. She stood before the guard and said, "Elisylle de Jandra, and I have come to search for further training in my craft," she explained.

The guard looked up at Elisylle and frowned slightly. "Welcome, lady. Perhaps you did not understand. What trade are you in? Where will you go to further your craft?" The guard looked at her irritably and then glanced at the line. His eyes then wandered towards the gate, clearly he was waiting for someone to take his spot.

Elania

Off Into the Wild Blue Yonder

Post by Elania »

"Well sir, I thank you very much for your help then. I do hope you will be able to get yourself out of the cold soon." Elania said.

She put her "hall pass" in her purse, tucked her purse into her britches to avoid any wandering hands she might encounter on her journey into this "safe" city, heaved her bag up into her arms, and set off for the Burpin' Dragon to get out of the cold for a bit.

On her way there, she paid careful attention to the streets, alleyways and buildings around her, and began making her on map of the city - if only in her mind - in case she couldn't find one elsewhere.
Travore Redkin

Post by Travore Redkin »

Travore smiled and even a small, gentle laugh escaped his throat. He took the paper from the guard and shoved it into a pocket on the inside of his jerkin.

"Then let's get goin'." Travore said to Automne. "As an old friend of mine used to say, 'big cities don't wait for you, so all you can do is catch up!'" The Rogue shot Automne a quick wink, and steadily walked confidently through the gate.

(OOC: Automne, I've started a thread in the Burpin' Dragon forum. We can move onto that one now.)
