The rundown on the MacGregor Clan;

Milkhaire - Milkhaire is the leader of a nearly dead clan, the Macgregors, and leads the united effort of a free Islay people. Milkhaire's tongue was cut out when he was a small boy, and he compensated for it by tapping into his internal talents and now speaks by way of mental communication aka telepathy. The fight with the demon healed his fractured mind, he was once quite loony and childlike, but the energies expended served as a healing force which he has tapped into. Milkhaire is a shaman, but the spirit he taps into is the island's. He seeks to rebuild what had been broken in the One-ist invasion, to rebuild the island's ancient circles of power. Why? I don't really know yet, but to Milkhaire, its terribly important, and he wants to do so at any cost. The struggle for the Islay to be free is a fight he has taken up on behalf of the tribes, and not from any personal standpoint. He's really above caring about the cities of Dort and Hafne, and would rather pursue his own goals of rebuilding the circles. But, as any good leader, he has taken up the fight for freedom on behalf of his people's wishes, and seeks a meeting with Erwin and Johann to discuss terms and arrangements. His defeat of the demon has given him a seat at the bargaining table, and he will use it to the best of his abilities on behalf of the Islay tribes.

Vanadius wrote:A fifth figure emerged from the surrounding woods to approach. He was slender and slight, wearing the tartan kilt of one of the many clans of the region. Rope sandals caressed his feet, and the torc around his neck was a shining, beaten copper. But these minor features are not what set him apart from any other highlander.

His hair was the color of fresh snow, and these white locks cascaded about his shoulders and framed his aging and craggy face. He was old, perhaps a rare thing for a highlander to be. His soft blue eyes looked over the others in quiet contemplation before studying the smoky remains. He said nothing, but turned to them after examining the pyre's embers with a questioning and inquisitive look.

Vanadius wrote:The snowy haired man continued to stare into the treetops, watching the wind play about the branches.

"The Koreymen have outlived us all before we came young one. They shall be around long after we are gone. The actions and words of a few false prophets will not sway us. Their Gods and their faith is their own. Milkhaire has decreed that all be overthrown, and a return to the old ways is at hand. They shall gain no hold in our lands."

"You have fulfilled your promise of reaching the Clans and telling them of the danger. The fact that we were already aware has no bearing upon this."

As the blonde man spoke and Syrawenn looked at Milkhaire, a curious thing happened. For the first time, he looked back. Not a random, accidental happening, but a real focusing of his eyes upon her. There was something serene in his soft blue eyes. Something wholly pure and peaceful. She asked her question of him and the muscles in his jaw worked as he pondered over her words. He opened his mouth to speak, and closed it again without answering her. The blonde man continued and Mikhaire's eyes travelled elsewhere yet again. Now he seemed intent on studying a dandelion growing nearby.

Vanadius wrote:As she addressed the strange Milkhaire directly, the mouth smiled. Milkhaire on the other hand was turning his attention to the hand and palm of his spokesperson. He grasped the man's hand by the wrist and began to study the strong, calloused fingers as if he had never seen a hand before.

"As I said, Miklhaire hears and he understands. I do his speaking for him because I have learned to listen to what he says. Milkhaire is a lamp unto himself. When you are calm and quiet, perhaps you will learn to see his light."

Howland - "The eyes of Milkhaire". Thin, wiry and short, Howland is a grass chewing scout that can track, hunt, and fight with the best of them. He's very country, and distrusts almost everything city.

Has highland burr (boyo, yerself, throwin', Aye etc.)

Ymir - "The hands of Milkhaire." As his title implies, Ymir does everything physical for the Shaman, including personal combat. He cooks, and does most menial tasks like mending clothes and other sundry tasks for the shaman. Don't let the domestic nature fool you, Ymir has huge claymore swords named after his daughters, Esmerelda and Matilda, and he knows how to use them.

Vanadius wrote:he other man, Ymir was more silent and far more active. He brought Milkhaire his meals and fussed over the strange shaman, making him change his shirt after the priest had fallen over in a patch of mud, bringing him a cloak against the cold mist of the high mountains. The big man had almost been motherly in his ministrations, despite wearing an ugly looking sword and the bearing of a mighty and hardy warrior.

Duncan - "The Mouth of Milkhaire" - Duncan once shared a very close link to Milkhaire as when the shaman tapped into his brain, Duncan's mind provided the necessary stability for the shaman to speak to outsiders, through which he used Duncan's voice. Now that Milkhaire doesn't need such assistance any longer, Duncan serves as another bodyguard for the priest.

Hodge, Waymer, and Red Jon - the last soldiers of the MacGregor Clan

to everyone and they rode together and tended to stray far enough to keep their conversations private. It was plain enough for all to see that they were experienced horseman as well as warriors. They carried themselves with the practiced ease of those who had seen many battles, and they had a casual indifference to the weapons they carried.

Hodge was the clean cut one with the axe. When not with the others he spoke to Howland about their route and their pace. He complained about the lack of speed, but Howland just chewed his grass, and ignored the man's urgings. Eventually Hodge gave up and fell back, reporting his failure to the others.

Red Jon and Waymer had traveled together for most of their lives. They had fought in the last uprising of the Clans, and mentioned that Captain Marten had been a mere sergeant back then. Waymer was easy going, and smiled often. He had a good sense of humor, and often pointed out the humor in most things, including making fun of Howland's skinny legs that poked out from under his kilt. The Clansman was not amused, and continued to ignore the man's repeated attempts to get under his skin. Red Jon was the large man, and while they rode, he suddenly threw the short spear he carried into a large bush at the base of a tree. He dismounted, and stalked off into the underbrush to retrieve it. He quickly returned with a rabbit that had been nearly cut in two by the weapon. Jon smiled and remarked about his famous cooked coney recipe. Waymer rolled his eyes and feigned gagging.

The rest of the MacGregors are an itinerant people numbering about a hundred or so. Milkhaire was anointed as a leader by the other clans due to his special abilities, which some call witchcraft, and some call being "Chosen". Regardless, Milkhaire is a traditionalist and does things "the old way" and that speaks to the Clan's sensibilities. I'm sure the battles between the "new voices" like the O'Briens and the "old ones" can provide for some interesting interaction and verbal clashes over what the best ways to proceed are.

Liane Tyvlan - mother of Gavin. Dark hair, gruff, more or less femal version of Gavin (or perhaps an older version of Syrawenn? There is deeper psychology here.) Dark hair with lots of grey. Has grown older, frail with more grey, in the last year.
Ex-husban named Jerald who fled after been found out for fraud. General occupation seems to be healer in addition to housemaker. She took care of the wounded after the fire, which earned her a pension from the Count.
